Evening all,

It's been a nice dry day here not like yesterday when we went to Norwich Christmas shopping it rained by lunch time so we came home out of it just after lunch .
I managed to get most of the things i had on my list ,just a few more little bits to get and then the wrapping begins .

Nice to see you popping in Jane ,your bound to feel washed out after the treatment it's a lot for the body to take ,that's nice that Hannah is coming again , when does she move ?
I can see it's going to be a long long list of food and bits and pieces you'll need to take with you when you go away ,your bound to forget some thing ,is there shops close by that you could use .

What a todo at Specsavers Ann things always seem to take longer when your short of time but at least they found them in the end ,lets hope you like them once they are done .

Oh no poor Ros with another water infection i thought she was getting on well with going to the hospital and keeping it under control ,i hope it clears up quickly and doesn't hang about over Christmas .
Hope your not so shaky now and have a better nights sleep tonight .

So OH has a nice smart study now then Mel with the help of an early Christmas pressie :-D
You seem to have got on well with your wreaths this year and they must be selling well if you've taken some more down to the shop .
I loved the gnomes you made last year ,can we see a photo of this years make ?

Sounds as if you had a noisy coffee break this morning AnnG it's surprising how much noise little ones can make when they get a paddy on .

Evening All,

Dry here today but so windy and cold as the day's gone on.

Nice to hear Jane is ok and will be able to go away to the cottage. I can't begin to imagine all the stuff needed to be taken to cook a big family meal either and doing it with an unfamiliar cooker wouldn't be relaxing for me. I suppose there are plenty of helping hands though, which is good. I would have done the same as Frank says and booked a meal somewhere.

We were beading at the house with the big cats today. One was making a snowflake, another a sparkly icicle and 2 of us were doing more of our lariats. Little Polly the rescue cat was fast asleep on a chair in the garden room when we arrived and she stayed put and didn't run off this time which was nice. When we went back inside prior to going the big cats were looking for their morning treat. My friend's OH must be about 5 foot 10 and was holding the treat bag at shoulder height to open it and one of the big cats just stood on his back legs and was able to reach up with his paw and swipe at it without jumping. I met OH at the carvery near there after and it was busy!

AnnG I do think it's a shame when toddlers in restaurants or cafes make so much noise it is unpleasant for everyone else. It isn't their fault, I think they are just too young to be expected to sit very long anyway and have probably learned screaming long enough gets them what they want! Did your visitors yesterday enjoy your village? :-)

I often think how lucky we are with the things we can see on TV Gill. I like all of the programmes George Clarke does.

Mel you have got on well again with the rest of your makes for the shop. Are you finished now or might you do more if asked? Your OH has been busy and made progress in his study and I envy him his 3 desks! I would set the sewing machine up on one, do crafts on another and have the computer on the third! I expect the present of the new screen may have helped motivate him. I bet the chocolate cake reward was a nice treat! :-D

Sorry Ros has another water infection Frank, but the antibiotics should have it cleared up before you go away which will be good. If you are a bit shaky on your legs today I would give the concert a miss with it being cold and windy. You don't want to risk falling and getting a black eye again and delaying the lasering.

Mandy, yes it was a bit too noisy, it was hard to hear each other speak. Annx I don’t think the mums even really noticed how loud it was they just kept talking to each other and handing out food at intervals which was thrown on the floor or table. Just before we left they were both put in their buggy and went instantly to sleep. They should have done that before.
Mel OHs room sounds great, like Annx I would love a room with 3 desks.

Frank hope Ros can get rid of her water infection before Christmas. And do be careful on your feet.

Jane good to see you. I am sure you will have a lovely time with the family in the cottage, let them do the work as I am sure they will want to.

Should have said Annx that yes the cottages caused a lot of comments people were fascinated.

Had to be up a bit earlier this morning. son plus grandchildren coming to go out to lunch and bring pressies. He is often here very early even though he lives in M Keynes. My family members when coming to visit can arrive any time between 9am and 6pm :-D :-D :-D

Morning AnnG and all,

Mixed weather this mroning as we have high winds and the sky is blue grey and white in lines out the front to the north.

Going to put the tree up today if I can as oh has to put it together for me. I do miss a REAL tree but oh can't lug it in anymore.

Morning Mel, AnnG and all

Sunshine and showers here with a bit of a breeze, so a mixed bag of weather today.

I've just read your post Ann about the two cats and it sounded like they were making the snowflake and icicle lol. The cat who managed to get to the treats must be very big......it's not a tiger is it lol :-D :-D

Those children sound very loud AnnG, I bet you were glad when they left. Pleased to hear everyone loved your village and you all had a nice time.

You've been very busy with your wreaths Mel and I'm sure the Nordic gnome will look lovely once you have finished putting on some more moss. I'd love to see a picture when you've finished him. So it's Christmas tree day today for you.

I'm glad I did ours a few weeks ago with us all not feeling very well, thankfully we're starting to feel better now, so with a bit of luck we'll be able to visit OH's mum next week and give her the Christmas cards and presents. Everyone drops cards off at hers and we all collect them from there, it's easier than going around to each person's house, as OH's family is massive.

I hope the antibiotics kick in soon for Ros, Frank and she's fit and well in time for Christmas. Good idea to send money for the shopping, as like you said it would be really busy on Christmas Eve. Take it easy if you're feeling shaky on your legs, you don't want to have another fall. Did you go to the concert in the end? Do you know the date for your laser treatment yet?

Frank Report 14 Dec 2019 11:52

Good morning to you all, xxx

Rain and windy, but the sun is doing it's best to get through.

We had the most horrible Microwave meal last night. Both Pasta based, but as tough as old boots. Just couldn't chew it, and what the main thing in it was, I couldn't taste. It all went in the bin. Ros had a tin of Rice, and I had couple of mince pies.

I had the most unusual dream last night, I was defending my DAD in a COURT MARSHALL. back in his young Navy life. Where the B=====. Hell that came from I will never know. Had a very restless night, Ros said I was shouting out in my sleep. I did get into a deep sleep around 6.00 am, and slept until 9.20 as Ros was getting ready to go out to meet Martine.

Ros is bringing home a good selection of ROOT VEG. so we can do a pot of stew. Harvey is also bringing up his Slow cooker, in case he can't fix the cooker.

Must ring Simon, I have rung twice and left messages, without him calling back. Not like him.

We have had artificial trees for years. We have bought a new smaller one this year, with built in lights. Ros has just put a few decorations on it.

Our dinning room table in stacked high with Presents. A lot will go back with Harvey today, I think most of the rest will go to Devon Monday week. Then when we get back, we can get back to some normality. if that's possible. lol lol

I'm going to watch L;Pool V Watford at 12.30 K.O. I will be able to watch most of it before Madam gets back from shopping, and gets lunch.

Have a good afternoon all, and hope you have a restful weekend. xxxx

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Dec 2019 15:14

Frank I find most of the ready meal disappointing. I do sometimes have the mac cheese or the Lasagne but I find the mac cheese from the frozen cabinet better than the one from the chiller cabinet.

Done the egg delivery and the shop and took down the gnome but forgot to take a picture of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 Dec 2019 15:48

Lovely to see them, they were with us about 4 hours. We all enjoyed our lunch at the Beefeater and, as usual son insisted on paying, although we did have a 40% off mains that he was able to use,

Frank I have not had that many ready meals but you didn't by any chance over cook them did you? That would toughen the pasta. Have you still got a hob, I see you are talking about cooking a stew. I swear by my slow cooker, it is great and we use it a lot.

It did stop raining here about 10.30 and the sun came out but there is a very cold wind. Hopefully it will stay dry until son gets home.

Gill yes we were pleased when they left with the toddlers but it was too late by then as we were ready to leave anyway. Strangely there were no young children in the Beefeater lunch time.

Annx Report 14 Dec 2019 16:01

Afternoon All,

Bitterly cold today, but OH and a pal have still taken themselves off on an hour and a half trip to a match! I think the long johns are getting an airing! lol

Mel fancy forgetting to take a pic of your Nordic Gnome. Maybe they will want some more though and you will get a second chance.

There aren't many ready meals that I like either as most have such a lot of fat in them. I know I don't like the Co-op, Tesco or Asda ones and it's usually a Sainsbury's Shepherds Pie that I add veg to when I have one or something from M&S. There's less choice now as so many are curries (which I don't like) of have chilli in them (which I don't like). We have a combination microwave, which serves as a second small oven if anything went wrong with the cooker. You can roast a small chicken in it or do chops etc or hot up a pie. It's good Harvey is bringing a back up for if he can't fix the cooker.

Yes Gill, I see I worded the post so it did read like the cats were beading!! They do sometimes try to come and inspect what we are doing, but are much more interested in our bags. I don't know if it's the smell of the leather or that they think there might be something to eat in them but we often see one with it's head stuck inside one!

I've done the usual errands, got some bread and milk and put the dishwasher on. I need to get the bedding washed next and some cleaner put on the white tiles around the bath and the bath itself. Oh and clean the fridge out while it's nearly empty.

I have ordered a nice burgundy fitted jacket with a faint blue and faint fuschia line in it for OH to get me for Christmas. I think it will be a bit tight at the moment but will be an incentive to keep up the slow weight reduction hopefully. I think I shall get OH one of those seat/back pads you put on a chair and that massage and also heat if you want to help when his back and/or neck hurt. It would have been nice to surprise him with something, but he doesn't like surprises, so I asked him last night and he seemed keen on the idea.

I'm thinking about doing 2 workshops next spring for wool felting with the friend who did the workshop a little while ago to make the mouse. We are both interested in the garden bird one and pony one. These are the 3d animals I haven't tried before not flat pictures. The lady doing them is Rosie who made and dressed the trees with sea creatures on Kirstie's home made Christmas recently. I just need to check that her workshops (at 4 different venues) aren't up flights of stairs!)

Better get on with these jobs now and do my Christmas roast pots to freeze. Then there are Christmas cards to finish writing.

AnninGlos Report 14 Dec 2019 16:10

goodness me Annx stop and have a rest woman. You are busy busy.

Lol Your jacket sounds nice, even though at first I read it as Burgundy filled jacket and wondered what you were going to be eating. And, according to the optician I don't need new glasses.

The felted animals would be nice to make I think, I have seen pictures of them, they are cute. What do you do with them when finished

Afternoon all

It absolutely poured with rain this morning and the end of the road was flooded again. It dried up this afternoon but there’s a cold, gusty wind.

While we were out on Thursday morning I had a couple of dizzy turns and another in the polling station on the way back, so I guessed I was in for a migraine. When we got back I took one of my migraine pills and went to bed. I did get up yesterday but just lay in a reclining chair all day. I’m OK today but feel drained. OH took me to Tesco’s as I was a bit dodgy for driving and I did the shopping but that’s all I have done today.

Not going to write any more as I don’t want to look at the screen for too long but I have managed to read the posts. I hope everyone with aches and pains is feeling a bit better and you all get a good night’s sleep.

Frank Report 14 Dec 2019 18:45

Just to let you know, Harvey is here. He put on the cooker and the Bugger seems fine. he went outside for something, and heard a DRIPPING. He pulled the washing machine out and the water is dripping from the feed pipe. He went to the STOP COCK and that is just spinning round, so that's knackered too. He ended up at the mains in the road, and turned that off. He has now gone to WICK'S to get new parts, if he's lucky. So in all it's been a bit of a disaster today. Things can only get better, I HOPE.

Ros is at a concert tonight and left just has Harvey arrived. So she's missed all the excitement. (NOT) !!!

I feel so useless, as I can't do anything to help. He has confined me to the lounge, with a few cans of BEER. So not all bad. lol lol

See you soon.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Dec 2019 10:58

Morning All,

We have a bit of sunshine again this morning which is a lot better than the dreary mornings we have been having. Skies still a bit light grey though so I don't expect the sun to last long now.

Frank if you had that dripping its just as well it was found before you go away for Christmas as you could have come home to a flood. Hope its all fixed now for you and everything is working fine now.

Em asked me for a wreath yesterday but I got her to wait a little while to see if the two down the shop go. If they don't I will give her one of those and if they do I shall make her one. Does that make sense?

I walked into the kitchen this morning only to find oh had put the tree up and it was all alight. No baubles on it yet though he leaves that to me. Our real tree is in such a big tub now its a job to move it which is why I now have an artifial one much against my wishes really but you have to be sensible when your not too mobile and things are really heavy.

At the moment it looks bald and boring with just its white lights on but after today it will glisten with coloured baubles and bit and pieces and have its fairy on top.

Gillx

Gillx Report 15 Dec 2019 11:47

Morning Mel, morning all

Bright and sunny for a change today, but still cold.

Your tree is going to look lovely when you've finished decorating it Mel. Pity you couldn't have your real one though, but like you said it's to heavy to lift in doors now, so best to be sensible and have the artificial one instead. We have an artificial one and it looks just as nice as a real one when it's decorated, I'm sure yours will to.

I hope your migraine has gone now Vera, good idea not to be online much, looking at a screen wouldn't of helped. I hope you had a good nights sleep and feel better today.

I read your post to OH and he read it the same way as me about the cats doing the beading Ann, it made us laugh. It sounds like you were very busy yesterday, did you manage to get through all your jobs in the end. Your Jacket sounds nice, let's hope the colours are right this time. I meant to tell you, Kirstie's Christmas programme is repeating from Monday so the first one you missed will be on if you want to watch it. I've really enjoyed watching it each day so will miss my 5pm fix now. Having said that she did have one on last Tuesday at 8pm which we watched, but I think that was a one off as it doesn't seem to be back on next Tuesday.

Oh dear Frank, if it's not one thing it's another. Hopefully the dripping is sorted now and didn't cause to much damage. Have you got your cooker sorted now, wasn't it strange how it worked just when you had someone to fix it. Do you think it might of had something to do with the dripping water why your electric kept tripping out and not your cooker after all? I hope the electric problem is sorted soon, what ever it is.

We were going to visit OH's mum tomorrow but OH and I have colds now, we've been sneezing and sniffling for the past two days so have decided to wait until later in the week to visit MIL as we don't want to pass anything onto her. Sandra's sore throat has finally cleared and she is back to normal now, which is good. She can now enjoy Christmas and eat what ever she wants.

She's still doing the countdown in sleeps to Christmas......bless her. I mentioned it was 10 more sleep this morning, she thinks I'm like her now. I must admit it makes it quite exciting when she does the countdown. All we have left to do is give MIL her presents and drop off the cards for the rest of OH's family there, then do a bit more food shopping for the perishables nearer the day and we're all finished.
