AnninGlos Report 10 Dec 2019 09:33

Good morning all from a drizzly and dark glos.

Vera oh that is good news about your brother I am so pleased for him, and you, good to have the news before Christmas as well.
I can't imagine how difficult it was to just start on Sage with no instructions, however, once you had worked it out the knowledge probably stuck. Do they still use it do you know? When I worked in a garage office their accounts were not computerised (70s) and I only had an ordinary typewriter to use plus VAT to do with a calculator. I hated that job and luckily was only there 6 months.

Frank, in case you get back on line many thanks for the ecard.

Jane is it more treatment today?? Thinking of you <3 <3 <3

Anne hope you are feeling better. <3 <3 <3

Gill pleased to hear you got the blackcurrant out of the carpet and hope Sandra has got over her upset after a nights sleep.

We were supposed to be going into town today on the bus but can't see us going if the rain continues.

Morning AnnG and Gill and all,

I think its about the same weather here as you both have, wet, dark and windy, glum and dreary and its shopping day HOORAY............
Oh has told me to go early as I need to do Lidl this week too and he said the raods could be bad around here is we get a lot of rain.

Vera what great news about your brother. Best Christmas present he could ever have after what he's gone through this year. I hope 2020 is a better year for him altogether and the rest of us too.

I was glad to see Mandy post yesterday and I would have loved to have seen Lewis in the Nativity play. You did'nt tell us what he was Mandy?????

Thinking of Jane today sending love and wishes it goes okfor her. <3 <3 <3

Well we went into town, it was very blustery but only a very light drizzle, not too bad and not cold. Not crowded either really I assume the forecast of storms kept people away. We split up for about an hour and managed to get all the bits and pieces we needed so that was good. Very dark here now.

Bck and unloaded and put away. When I came out of Morrisons there was a huge puddle for me to go threough to get to my car and there was no way around it so I pushed the trolly hard and tried to hang on the top but still landed in the puddle right in the middle. My shoes were full of water and my jeans were wet a foot up the legs.

Message from Frank:-

Hi my love, I had a new HUB fitted yesterday, and I can’t get on the WEB.

Evening all,

It's been a blustery day here with a few showers ,that wind really makes it feel cold out there ,the church was quite warm which surprised me as it's usually really chilly in there .
The Nativity was quite different this time most of the children weren't dressed up as they usually are ,they did have a Joseph, Mary and the three wise men and the rest of the children were in normal clothes not school uniform , it was the nursery children and reception class so all little ones ,it was very nice though the children sung their hearts out bless them and sung four songs ,Lewis was doing all the movements to the songs ,no photo's allowed though . :-(
I did have tears in my eyes when they sang We wish you a Merry Christmas .

When we came out of the church i walked up into town to get our tablets and had to wait ages in Boots ,one serving and she was trying to sort out a problem with a lady who had ordered some thing to come into the shop and they couldn't find it or the fact that she had ordered it so i just had to wait ,then when it came to the tablets they didn't have one lot of mine so they hadn't done the rest of the prescription so i then had to wait for that to be done ,i must remember to go in for the tablets they didn't have at the end of the week .
When i got home i finished off putting the decorations up so i now feel whacked .

Vera that good news you had from your brother, it would put a big smile on your face and what a lovely Christmas present for him after all the treatment and op's he's had to endure over all those months .
So lots of postage to pay with the cards and parcels ,they know how to charge don't they .

Poor Sandra Gill she has had a rough few days with one thing and another but a nice hug from mum soon helped i'm sure .

Mel i hope you got your shopping done and got home safely .

I see you managed to get into town AnnG to get your shopping done ,the weather probably did put people off .
I'm off to Norwich with DIL on Thursday to do some Christmas shopping so i hope it's going to be a dry day .

Love to Jane <3 i think she said the treatment was every three weeks for nine weeks so i hope she's not feeling to bad <3

Just seen your post Mel ,poor Frank i bet he isn't very happy as he spends a lot of time on his computer .

SuffolkVera Report 10 Dec 2019 20:04

Aaah, I expect the little ones loved doing their nativity, bless them. Mandy, I found Boots a nightmare with my repeat prescriptions. They never seemed to get it right and always blamed me for their mistakes. The final straw came a couple of years ago when they sent me a text telling me to pick up my meds which they insisted I had ordered even though I wasn’t even in the country at the time. I changed to using Lloyds Chemists and haven’t had a problem since.

Thank you for your card Mel. It came today. Also thanks for passing on the message from Frank. I bet he’s feeling frustrated.

I have stayed in the warm today. Lots of rain on and off and the wind has been dreadful. It keeps bringing on the security lights at the front of our neighbours’ garage and on the side of our garage, both of which shine in our bedroom which is downstairs. It’s a bit like being in a disco with the lights constantly flashing on and off. I’ve told OH that I am sleeping in a spare room upstairs tonight.

I’ve spent the afternoon wrapping and packing all the presents I’ve got to send to Yorkshire. They have filled a box that originally held 12 wine bottles so it’s a bit bulky but not too heavy. I must get it to the post office tomorrow. OH is taking a friend to hospital tomorrow for his first session of chemo so I won't be able to go out till he is back with the car.

I hope you are feeling a bit brighter Jane <3

Frank Report 10 Dec 2019 20:25

Hi I would just like to introduce myself to you All. My name is Frank lol lol

Jonathan has finally got me sorted out, and I am back on line.

We have had so much trouble this afternoon/evening. The Electric keeps going off. After about TWO HOURS, we traced it down to the COOKER.I even had a guy out from the Electricity board, who couldn't find fault, but got us back on. Soon after it went off again just as Jonathan arrived. He set about, turning this and that off from plug to plug. Finally he traced it to the COOKER. I had put it on to get it hot for cooking dinner. So dinner didn't happen, and Ros went for F & C. Not what we wanted for dinner, but needs must. !! We now have the job of finding a new Double oven cooker. An expense I could do without, on top of Christmas. Ros said she will CHOOSE IT THIS TIME. So I expect it to be expensive. Will have to ring Harvey to be on standby to fit a new cooker.

Ros has been to the hospital twice this week. Once for her HEART, and the other for the water infection. She has to see the Heart Specialist after the new year. So just trust everything is alright.

As you can imagine I haven't read any of your post. But THANK YOU for your Emails. I hope you are all well, and have missed me. LOL LOL

See you tomorrow, Good night GOD BLESS. xxxx

Annx Report 10 Dec 2019 20:42

Evening All,

Great news for your brother Vera! He sounds as if he's suffered quite a lot in recent years so he must be so pleased. I had to smile at you being left to get on with Sage, as when we first had a computer at work our boss had it in his room. It soon came out of there though with the offer that any of us were welcome to borrow the instruction book if we thought we could fathom it! I just googled and it seems Sage is still available as a payroll package. I had to smile at your neighbour's flashing lights as that is the effect of those pulsing Christmas lights our neighbour opposite used to have. He also leaves with his big van at about 7.00am in the morning, so we get his security light glaring through our bedroom window for 10 minutes while he loads his tools back into his van and then his van headlights as he sits for about 5 minutes before he drives off. :-S It sounds like you have lots to post!

We were too shattered to go to the garden centre early so are going tomorrow. We went to Nuneaton instead as OH needed more big notebooks for work and he likes the Ryman's ones. I called in Bon Marche and got 3 tops and was chuffed as I thought they had sold all of one I liked last time I looked, but they must have had more in. I also found some glasses frames I liked in Specsavers, so will see if the branch near to us can order them as they didn't have them the other day. (I got someone to write down the details). Then we had our free drinks in Debenham's with our Daily Telegraph card, so that was good.

AnnG we were surprised how quiet it was at Nuneaton and managed to park easily. There is always a young man in the main street that's pedestrianised who seems to have a mental health problem. He is big built and tall and keeps shouting and just making loud noises. It's quite sad and a shame for him, but very intimidating to shoppers and young children. He's out in all weathers so it makes me wonder if he has a home or any support.

Mandy how sweet to hear the children singing their hearts out! I expect you got a wave from Lewis. :-) It's good you got your tree finished, but it is a tiring job with all the reaching and bending! Does Max leave it alone?

As you say Jane said if all goes well she has 2 more rounds of treatment making 3 over 9 weeks. I think the next one would be due Christmas Eve, but maybe they will delay that one a few days! After the 3rd will be a scan and, if it is working I think she said there would be 2 more rounds, presumably of 3 lots so she has a long way to go yet.

Poor Sandra sounds as if she got a bit overwhelmed with not feeling well either Gill, but a hug works wonders doesn't it.

I wondered how Frank said he could'nt get on the web but he emailed me!!!! What a todo with his cooker. OUr leccy keeps going out for no reason at all and we think it could be either the leccy company mucking about switching things over or thunder inthe area.

I bet Lewis was so proud of himself singing his little heart out. Did you get a wave Mandy? I can imagine you had a tear in your eyes as I know I would have done.

Off to bed now so night night all see you all inthe mroning and I am so glad our Franky Boy is back with us now. <3

Morning All,

As you can tell I'm not asleep yet. I think it's on my mind I have to be up early.??
I didn't spot your post Frank , but what a game you have had with the electric and being cut off! Hopefully it is all ok again now. I hope Ros finds a nice cooker without too much expense. Then you will have to get used to it! Of course we all missed you and it's good you are back again. XX

It poured with rain and was very windy earlier but has calmed down now. I will see if I can get to sleep now as OH will be up at 7.30am. Pl

Morning all

A much calmer day today than yesterday, so that's good.

I hope the weather stays nice while you're out AnnG

Did you manage any sleep last night Ann. I'm the same as you and can't seem to sleep properly if i know I have to be up early, then you feel drained the following day don't you?

Nice to see you back Frank. At least you know it's the cooker that was at fault and can now buy a new one. I hope you find a nice one and they can deliver it before Christmas.

Nothing much planned for today, so we might catch up with a few Christmas films we've got on the planner. OH has just nipped out and bought the Christmas TV magazine, so Sandra will be pleased when she wakes up as she's been asking for it for the last week. She likes to circle all the programmes we watch at Christmas, plus all the soaps as they're not on at their normal times. She then lets us know what's on and when.......she's very organised, bless her.

Sunny and cold here and the wind has dropped.

I hope you eventually got some sleep Ann.

Good to see you back Frank. What a shame about your cooker. Can it not be repaired? You don’t want MORE EXPENSE just before Christmas.

OH got up early this morning and was out soon after 8 am to pick up a friend and take him to hospital, about 20 miles away. Half way there friend gets a call on his mobile telling him not to come as he needs a lumbar puncture and there is no-one available to do it, so they had to turn round and come back again. It would have been good if they had rung him a little earlier. It’s now rearranged for Friday, so another day we need to keep free.

Off to get my parcel to Yorkshire in the post now. Have a good day everyone.

Frank Report 11 Dec 2019 10:21

Good morning all,

What a minefield it is, looking for a SINGLE BUILT IN OVEN and Microwave. We just didn't use the top oven, so no point in paying for something you don't need. I have been sitting here for over an hour looking on Google. I put in what I want in the search, and they come up with totally different things. i.e single oven and up comes dozens of DOUBLE OVENS.

I don't know what is wrong with the oven apart from when I put it on, it trips the switch on the fuse box, and everything goes off. Ros is going out shortly to have a look to see what she likes and get some details. I will then look them up on Goodle before deciding on what we want.

Had a terrible night again. With all this up and down steps to the fuse box (at least 50 times) my back and shoulders are really painful. Plus the injection I had is still painful. I'm very tempted o climb back into bed, and try to sleep for a few hours. If I do that I will never sleep tonight. So I will just get showered and get on with the day.

Harvey has torn some muscles in his back. He went to get out of his truck and it just went. Not good for him as he does MANUAL WORK. He is visiting his massage lady every day. So hope it improves soon.

I have told Ros to get some Microwave meals, until we can get the cooker fitted. We can eat out as well, so I am sure we won't go hungry.

See you later, with any news. I hope you are all well. xxxx

Morning all,

Dull and wet here this morning but there are now tiny patches of blue sky among the grey clouds so perhaps it will brighten up a bit for a while.

I must tell you this and you've probably seen it anyway but I had'nt seen it before and it made me smile. While driving up to Lidl yesterday on the Clovelly Road I was behind a VW and on the badge on the back was two tiny horns and it had a right arm with a little tridant in it and at the bottom of the circle was a wiggerly tail. Still smiling now when I think of it.

Nice easy day today so want to get the last two rings done and finish off the flower arrangements.

Sorry you could'nt get to sleep Ann it must have been because you had on your mind that you must get up early.

Sandra will soon have you all planned out with your telly programs once she gets her hands on the tv magazine Gill.

Hope Frank can get on here ok this morning as we have all missed his posts and we like to know what the two of them are up to.

Frank Report 11 Dec 2019 12:20

Hi agan all, Really nice sunny cold day here, blue sky with a light breeze.

Ros rang a little while ago to say she has found a SUSUKI oven in wicks's, at a very reasonable price. I have told her to get the serial Number, and I will see if they do a microwave oven, that can fit in the oven cabinet. She has now gone onto Curry's and B & Q I have told her to get as much info. as she can, so I can follow it up on the web.

I hope our Jane is comfortable, Is it this week she has been having her treatment.??

I have sent an Email to Conrad in Spain, keeping him informed of our problems, not that he can do anything to help, but he likes to stay in touch with anything, especially where we are concerned.

If Ros rings again, I will get her to get a load of root VEG. and Shin of beef. Then I can do a stew, which will last a couple of days. We can go to the TOBY for Sunday lunch. I hope we can find a cooker that Ros likes, not that she does the cooking, but still likes to have the right things in place. Then it will be getting it delivered, and when Harvey will be able to ft the new one. Curry's want £90.00 to fit the cooker and £15.00 to take the old one away. NO WAY. The old one will be collected by the scrap men who call round every week.

Time for something to eat, I haven't had any breakfast again today. SMACKED WRIST. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Stay safe and warm, will speak again later. xxx

AnninGlos Report 11 Dec 2019 14:46

Good afternoon, just about got the Tesco shop done followed by a visit the local post office to post a packet (hence joining a queue of course which took a few minutes. One lady was buying about 10 gift cards. Guess what her relatives are getting for Christmas). And then to the pharmacist to collect our prescriptions. As we drove onto the drive it started to rain. The window cleaner had just arrived, I asked him not to bother this time, couldn't see the point of cleaning the windows in the rain and then going away over Christmas. He comes every 4 weeks which to us is a bit soon normally but means he will be back two weeks into the New Year. So that is almost £15 saved.

Thank you for your pretty card Vera. Frank I said thank you for youe email card yesterday, not sure if you saw it. Hope Ros has sorted a cooker for you.

Gill I picked up the Christmas TV paper as well today.

Annx

Annx Report 11 Dec 2019 16:30

Well we made it to Rutland today, but couldn't believe how many tractors were out in the lanes, some with big trailers of manure! We had a nice breakfast next to one of the log burners, then had a look around. We didn't think their Christmas display was as big or as good this year, but their model ski slope with ski lift and houses was impressive. I noticed among the models you could buy to add was an old fashioned black bicycle with the skirt guard over the back wheel and thought of AnnG's bicycles in her village. :-) I only saw 1 candle bridge and didn't fancy it and there were no jigsaws I liked much either. We looked in the new farm shop which was very good but very expensive too. It was a nice sunny ride though through lovely countryside.

Have you finished your wreaths and arrangements now Mel? You seem to have got them done very quickly.

AnnG our window cleaner comes every 4 weeks and I think it is too often. I think every 6-8 weeks would be fine when you aren't on a main road.

I bet Sandra has been busy circling what she wants to record!

Then I spent about an hour sorting out the frames for my new glasses. :-S The local Specsavers told me they didn't have the frames I want in the store and when they tried to order them it said the number that Nuneaton had given me was invalid. I rang Nuneaton and they said the number they'd written down for me was one digit wrong! Also that the glasses are discontinued now. I rang Blaby again and they said that the number I now had was for black glasses! That was no good so I rang Nuneaton again and asked them to save the pair for me that they had in store and I would come tomorrow or Friday to see if they are suitable for my prescription. Then I got a phone message from the local branch to say they could actually get them in wine colour after all and had ordered me a pair!! But I decided to stick with the Nuneaton ones as I have seen those, even though it will mean 2 round trips of 30 miles to order and then collect them. Between them they caused me half a dozen phone calls and almost a wasted hour on what should have been a simple thing to do and have taken just a few minutes. :-S.OH volunteered to take me so I can be dropped near and we can go straight there from voting in the morning.

Good idea to make a big stew Frank. I hope Ros has come home with lots of cooker info for you. Once you know what you want it is often cheaper to buy online.

What a nuisance your OH and friend had a wasted half journey to the hospital Vera. I suppose it couldn't be helped though and at least they hadn't got all the way there before they found out. I know it wasn't an appointment for your OH but how is your OH's back now? :-D :-D

Evening all,

Very frosty here first thing ,we had to scrape the windscreen of the car before we went shopping .

Hope you can get the cooker sorted out soon Frank and find one that's a good price ,i had to get use to my new one ,i have to have the oven temp just a little higher than my old cooker .
What a price Curry's wanted to wire it in ,son soon wired in my new one and the scrap man soon took the old one away for free .

Oh Ann you'll be ready for an early night tonight after still being awake in the early hours .
What a to do with sorting out your new glasses , a least your getting the ones you want .
Are you looking for a Jigsaw for you to do over Christmas ? i bought four lovely jigsaws when went to the church fair the other week with old fashioned scenes which we like .

Vera many thanks for your pretty card that came this morning ,i just had to rescue a card from Max ,some one had popped it through the letter box and he found it first .
Hope you got your parcel off ok in the post and you didn't have to sit down when they told you the cost :-D
I nearly had to when i went to buy some stamps ,two cards and a book of second class stamps over nine pound !!!

Has Sandra been through the tele magazine today Gill ringing all the things she wants to see :-D it's a good idea as that way you won't miss any thing .

AnnG i think the gift cards are a good idea if it's difficult to know what to buy some body .
No point in having your windows done if your going away , it seems odd them cleaning them when it's raining ,when i use to have a window cleaner he wouldn't come if it was raining ,now Colin is retired he does them ,he's use to ladder work as he was a builder .

Mel i have PM 'd you .
