I haven't seen any of them myself either but you can get those chrome devil VW badges on Ebay Mel. I can imagine people going around pinching them round here though. They used to pinch the VW badges a few years ago didn't they and no end of them were driving around with missing badges.

I do have a couple of jigsaws I haven't done yet Mandy, but this place used to have really nice ones. I still like the old chocolate box thatched cottages and pretty garden ones you used to get. I was surprised OH said to have a look at them as he usually reminds me I have some I haven't done and they are taking up his wardrobe space!! lol. I do like to do one over Christmas and think one I haven't done is a Christmassy Thomas Kincaid one, so I can always do that.

Thank you for my big fat goose card Vera its lovely.

I have cleaned the big bathroom and done wiring and finished one more ring and the two candle arrangements. Cleaned the plates on the long rack and the rack and strung my cards up.

Went down for our F & C tonight and there are only two rings on the shop windowsill.

Out not too early tomorrow for oh's flu jab. Then we will vote. Then I can get the other stuff down the shop and maybe do some more weather permitting.

Frank it was last week Jane had her first treatment and Ann explained when she has the next lot in a previous post.

Ann oh said he had seen one at some point and they are not that expensive to buy. I just thought it was lovely when I saw it and it made me laugh.

Mandy I have answered your pm.

Yes Mel, Sandra has not long woken up and is now going through the magazine, pen in hand lol ;-) ;-) ;-) She's going to write everything in order in a note pad so she doesn't miss anything.....bless her. That should keep her out of mischief for a few hours. OH and I are going to watch the Apprentice while she's busy then we'll watch a film later. It's just started raining.

You're not having much luck trying to find a single oven online are you Frank, lets hope Ros has more luck when she's out. Poor Harvey, I hope he starts feeling better soon after his massages. You take it easy to. Good idea to have some micro meals in and like you said you can always eat out until your new oven arrives.

Just signing out and noticed I hadn't sent this post earlier..........silly me, so I'll send it now and catch up with the rest of the posts tomorrow.

Stay warm. Will BBL

Frank Report 12 Dec 2019 11:27

GOOD MORNING YOU LOVELY PEOPLE. What a horrible, miserable morning it is too.

Like you Vera, we are off to vote once Ros ins out of the shower and dressed. We have BIGGLES for a few hours, as his Mum and Dad are visiting someone who won't have dogs in the house. We will walk to the village hall to vote, and take him with us.

We ate out last night at our nice Pub. We will have Microwave meal tonight and tomorrow.Saturday is takenway, and Sunday will be TOBY'S.

Harvey is coming up on Saturday to try to sort out the cooker. If it can't be fixed, he has a friend who can get new cookers at a good discount.

We have been to Vote, and seen people, who I haven't seen since my Post Office days. That's over 33 years ago.

We had to take the car with us as we needed to drop the scripts. at the Dr. They are resurfacing the roads in the village, and all the side streets are blocked off, with No Enter. ROAD CLOSED. There is a van at each turning with TWO MEN in, who move the signs to let us in and out of the close. What a to do. lol lol

Must go and put the heating back on, as it's getting chilly. That wind is enough to cut you in half. !!! See you all later. xxxx

Good morning all, a very nasty wet day here. A bit frantic in this house as we have 12 people coming in this afternoon for a meeting, it is the garden interests group but this one is more of a social meeting. Some are bringing mince pies and sausage rolls. It is going to be very cosy in our lounge, it is not too small but we are down to the last two chairs being folding garden chairs. so that is my afternoon mapped out and the morning has been taken up bu cleaning the kitchen and as much of the lounge as can be seen under the decorations.

Gillx Report 12 Dec 2019 13:44

Afternoon all

Wet and horrible here today but quite warm considering and no wind which is a bonus.

Just been to vote so that's out of the way and we managed to dodge the rain so that was good.

Sorry for my late reply to your question Mel, like I said I was just about to sign out and noticed I'd written the post but hadn't actually posted it.....silly me.

When I tried to close my laptop down last night, or should I say the early hours of this morning, it decided to update.....well to cut a long story short I finally got to bed at 5.30am this morning, so needless to say I didn't wake up until just before midday, now I'm all behind on what I wanted to do today.

I hope you manage to sort your cooker out Frank, that was nice of Harvey to say he had a friend who could get hold of a cooker for you at a discounted price, that'll save you eating micro meals, they're not the best are they? How lovely to have Biggles for a few hours, he'll be a bit of company for you and we know how much you love having him around. He'll enjoy the fuss you make of him to.

I've been thinking of Jane and hope she's not feeling to bad, sending lots of hugs from Sandra and I <3 <3 <3

It sounds like you're going to have a house full this afternoon AnnG, I don't think I'd get 12 people in our living room and as for chairs I'd definitely not have enough.

I hope the weather isn't to bad when you meet your friends for coffee Vera.

OH has nipped to the shop to buy a new lock for our back door, it wouldn't lock from the outside and our porch door at the front was the same so we ended up going out and leaving the porch door unlocked, luckily we were only out for 5 minutes and the internal front door was locked so it was reasonably secure. We weren't happy at having to do that though. We think the front door has warped in the sun as it's south facing, we never use it so it's not normally a problem and seems to lock okay from the inside anyway, so he's just changing the back door lock for now. So I'm sitting here with no lock on the back door until he returns with the new one.

Going to drink my cuppa now before it goes cold. I've only had one drink before we had to go out to vote and I'm thirsty.

OH is back now so it shouldn't be long before the new lock is on and we can lock it properly again.

Annx Report 12 Dec 2019 16:59

Afternoon All,

What a miserable, rainy and windy day. We slept well, but got up later than intended, but were still out by 9.00am to go and vote and noticed more people than usual were turning out this time. Then we went to Nuneaton Specsavers and I fought my umbrella as I made my way there while OH did a few errands. OH had a meeting this afternoon so it was sod's law that they kept me waiting ages before getting someone to go and look for the frames and sod's law again that they came back empty handed to ask me what they looked like!!! I think they were taken aback that I knew the key number for them off by heart, but then I should do after all the phone calls I'd made yesterday! Anyway, two other people joined the search then and found them. I'd already told them I couldn't wait ages, so the manager came to fit them for me. He was very good, but they'd had some new lenses in this morning that were good for driving and had other good features, but could they find the paperwork with all the details about them?? In the end I went for different lenses also good for driving but with a wider field of vision at the bottoms and better for painting and other hobbies and I only need a single pair then as I have reactolite so I don't need sunglasses. Still over £300 though.......MORE EXPENSE as Frank would say!! :-0

AnnG I think I would need all four of our folding garden chairs to fit that many in our lounge diner! We downsized our dining table and chairs when we moved here as I was dusting and moving them around to clean all year to just use at Christmas which seemed silly. Our current table extends to double it's size, so the garden chairs would be fetched inside if there was an occasion when we needed them. Of course your Christmas tree and village are set up now as well and they take up quite a bit of space. I bet they loved your village and enjoyed the meet up! :-D

I thought the same as Mandy about your wreaths selling well Mel. I can see some 'requests' for more coming in at this rate. :-D You have been busy washing your plates and stringing up your cards.

Hope you have a nice get together with your friends Vera and thank you for your nice card which arrived this afternoon and has a lovely Goose on the front. :-)

Has Sandra finished ringing all the programmes now Gill? Is she able to do the recording of them herself or do you have to do that part? She's very good and does whatever she can to help doesn't she. <3

Frank that is good that Harvey's friend can get you a cooker with a discount if he can't fix the one you have. At least you have your meals sorted till after the weekend. I bet Biggles enjoyed his walk with you to vote this morning. (you to vote not Biggles! lol) Did you have to dry him off afterwards? He would have got soaked here. We have noticed in some of the villages round here that they seem to shut the roads if they are resurfacing or renewing the white lines. We were flabbergasted this afternoon that they have actually REMOVED all the humps on the road through the other side of our village. They were mostly those gut wrenching pyramid ones that throw you around if you go over the middle of them with your tyres or rub the inside of your tyres away if you try to straddle them. Having to tackle those every time you went out had stopped me looking at bungalows in that area before.

I hope Jane is still feeling ok or better. I expect the treatment must make you feel very tired though so maybe she just needs lots of rest for the time being. Best wishes and lots of love Jane. <3 <3xx

What a palaver at Specsavers Ann, isn't it always the case when you're in a rush it seems to take an age to sort things out and when you have all the time in the world you're only a few minutes. That was nice of everyone to try and speed things up and the manager helping to when you said you were in a rush.

I've let Sandra know how pleased you are with your Christmas card Jane, she's pleased you like it. Could you ring the local pub and see if you can get in for lunch there, if it's going to be easier for everyone, you can always put the Turkey in the freezer for when you get back? I hope the weather improves by the time you go away, it's been very wet and windy lately, so a bit of good weather would be better for the journey. I can imagine you are very tired at the moment, don't worry about reading the posts, it's just nice to hear from you from time to time as we're all thinking of you. Good luck with your next bout of Chemo, Sandra wants me to send you some kisses and hearts xxxxxxxxxxx <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Take care and rest as much as you can <3 <3

Morning all

Another wet and windy day here, luckily we don't have to go out for anything.

Just watching "Amazing Spaces, Northern Lights" I recorded the other day. I love the Northern lights but I doubt I will ever see them, so watching them on the TV is the next best thing, plus I love to watch the normal "George Clarke's Amazing Spaces", so I've got the best of both worlds.

What is everyone else up to today?

Good afternoon all, dry here but grey and very cold. We made a quick visit to the local Tesco and then went to the community centre for coffee and a shared pasty. a bit noisy in there today as there were two young mums and their toddlers who both continually screamed to get out of their high chairs.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Dec 2019 14:45

When I was in Morrisons on Tuesday there was a very small person who decided to scream and it was soooooo loud you would never have believed a noise like that could come out of someone so small I had to put my fingers in my ears.

I have finished the last ring this morning and fed the birds and we have jsut had a long tailed tit attack. I am now going to finish, if I can, the little nordic gnome and hopefully get them all down the shop.

Oh has rearranged his study and put lots of things away and had a good hoover which Iam not aloud to do in there. He has three desks in there and a double free standing wardrobe which is now against the rad but not touching it.

Well here I am at last.

Glad our Jane is coping, What a job you have Jane with all that food and drink to take with you. I agree, if we weren't going to Devon, I would have booked Christmas Day LUNCH/DINNER at one of our eateries. I hope you will be well enough to enjoy your Christmas, with the family. xxxx

Ros has just posted money to Jan, towards Christmas. It's better than trying to go shopping when we get down there. Every man and hs dog will be out shopping Christmas Eve.

Sunny dry day here, I haven't been out, and don't intend too. Didn't have a good night again last night. I have been very shaky on my legs, but as yet NOT FALLEN OVER.

I cooked a BRUNCH around 11.00 am this morning. Ros really liked hers, where as I threw most of mine in the bin. I seemed to have lost my appetite. We will have a Microwave meal again tonight. Last night was Beef stew and DUMPLINGS and was very nice considering. Not sure what we will have tonight. But Ros has a good selection in the fridge. lol lol

The sun is so bright at this time of day, it's shining straight through the conservatory window into my eyes. Not easy to see the SCREEN/

I trust you are all keeping well and getting ready for Christmas. Our Greetings cards are building up now. thanks to you, who have sent. I hope my HORSES will enjoy the EXTRA HAY that you all paid for, bu me not sending CARDS. It's nice to know some good is being done.

Ros has been informed by the Hospital that she has another water infection. She is checking with the Drs later, to see if her Anti=Biotics have been delivered.

Choir practice went well last night. They gave there DURST CONCERT on Saturday evening. I haven't yet decided if I will go or not.

Catch up with you later. xxxx

Oh's study is looking very smart, well one half of it and the new screen is in place. Its suposed to be my Christmas present to him but he has set it all up now so he can play his games to his hearts delight.

I did finish the gnome but was'nt too happy with it as some of the wire was showing and I had a bit of a bald patch on the top of his hat. I shall collect some more moss tomorrow and remedy that and take it down the shop tomorrow when I go for the paper.

I did take the two wreaths and the two candle thingies down just now.

It started raining just as it was getting dark and has'nt stopped since. Oh told me off cos my coat was soaking wet so a quick change before going to the shop.

Now I am going to make a nice cuppa and a piece of chocolate cake as a reward for all my hard work!! :-D Naughty but o so nice............ ;-)
