Oh heck Mandy, I don't think I could manage 'VERY HOT! lol. Some of the asian staff at work would bring in samosas etc at Christmas and they would always say they were mild, but I think they had fireproof mouths, so I would make them break a bit off for me to try first. They would laugh when you dashed to get a glass of water. That's good your DIL was offered and got the job at the doctors'. As you say, it will be good to get some money of her own and a change of scene for a few hours a day. :-D It's good she was able to change doctors too. The teacher brought a sheet of paper each with outlines drawn on for an Owl, Bird, Gingerbread man, bauble, christmas tree and star, so I cut out the Owl. She said we could do our own thing and draw and cut out what we liked if we wanted. I'm going to modify the pattern slightly for the next Owl. ;-)

I thought it would be nice to have a Mr and Mrs Owl Mel! :-D It sounds like you have been busy with your crafts. What are the dragon's eggs like? I must say I could eat your tray bake! Sorry Mandy!

Better get my stuff packed for tomorrow at the big cat's house. I need to gather some things for them to take to the charity shop they volunteer at too.

Forgot to say that while I was out yesterday, OH rang me to say the fence man had rung to say he'd had a cancellation so would be round in an hour to do the fence!! I must admit I'd nearly given up on him coming. We'd said to give us a few days notice so we could get the soil out of the raised boxes as we wanted him to use the gravel boards they were built from, but daren't turn him away, so OH had to quickly fill humpers with some of it. It was just the bottom fence with the field behind and he soon got it all done and the narrow trellis put along the top. We need to get some timber to attach along the top of the trellis to shed the rain and paint the trellis then hose down the mud off some of the old gravel boards. There will only be the trellis to paint or replace in the future now, no rotting wooden panels along the bottom any more. We might paint the gravel boards to match the side fences but not till the summer.

Monring all,

Horrid morning here with rain rain rain and so dull we need the lights on.

I have the new docs this afternoon at three so I must'nt forget. I shall enquire about the flu jab as we hav'nt had it yet!!! They usually ring us to tell us when they come to Shebbear village hall to do them but we heard nothing this year.

Must get on as the girls want feeding.

Mel love the owls.

Can you not get the flu jab at your local pharmacy if you have one?

Morning all

Music's on and we've decided to put the Christmas tree up today so I can have my birthday to myself tomorrow, plus it'll be nice to get up and see Christmas on my birthday.

Talk about excited Sandra is beside herself. OH has just got the snow tree out of the loft, but I'm not sure if it's going to fit the space since we bought the new sofa. I'm going to try it and if it doesn't fit we'll use the green tree we bought last year. I've taken a cupboard out of the living room and replaced it with a small table for the lamp so the sofa could be moved down so hopefully we'll have enough room now.

I'll catch up with the post later as Sandra is waiting......bless her. <3

Sandra's just bought me some lovely pink chrysanthemums for my birthday, she's so thoughtful, she gave me a couple of early birthday presents to, the book of Gentleman Jack and a 70's CD I had my eye on earlier in the year. Wasn't that nice of her? We're trying to find some nice lights to put on the tree but everything we've tried so far doesn't look very good. I've now found some more I'm about to try.

We had some ultra bright lights from years ago but hardly any of them work now so I've put them away again. They don't seem to make ultra bright fairy lights anymore, they are brilliant on the snow tree, so I'm having to use some warm white ones instead if they don't look right it only leaves LED ones which I really don't like.

Never mind, I'm sure I'll get there in the end and the flowers have really made my day. :-) :-) :-) I feel like I'm going to have two birthday now, like the Queen lol :-D :-D

Good afternoon folks

I hope Jane got some help from the nutritionist and Frank is coping with his eye problem. Love and hugs to them both <3 <3

The parcel arrived quickly Gill. I really don’t understand our postal system. I posted that 2nd class on Tuesday afternoon and you got it Thursday morning but I posted a letter 1st class to my grandson only 20 miles away and it took 5 days :-S. Has Sandra been decorating your tree? I bet she is really excited now.

Ann, I hope your sore throat and cough are getting better now. Your OH’s night terrors must have been frightening for him and anyone with him. I saw a TV programme on them once and one poor chap had to have bars across his window because he kept trying to climb out of it. By the way I love your owl with his heart shaped beak. He looks a friendly fellow.

Love your owls too Mel. They look cuddly and cute. I think you’re right about the middle one being the best colour. I hope you get on OK with the new docs and get your flu jab sorted out.

They were strange dreams you had Mandy. Could you relate them to anything you had been doing or thinking about during the day? I hope you sleep better tonight. I slept better on Wednesday but last night I had a bad night again and feel like a wet week today. Every time I dozed off I had another nightmare. I can’t remember what they were about except that I was very frightened and knew that if I woke up I would be OK, but my eyes wouldn’t open. Fingers crossed we all have a good night tonight. It’s lovely that your dil has got the job at the surgery. I hope she enjoys it. A little bit of extra money is always handy.

So you are all ready for your visitors AnnG. Have a lovely weekend with your family.

We’ve had a bit of a lazy day today. OH went to the tip this morning and got rid of great piles of newspapers, a couple of crates of bottles, four huge sacks of garden rubbish and some odd and ends of electrical stuff. I can actually see the garage floor now. I suddenly remembered that I took a load of bulbs of mini iris, daffodils and tulips out of pots last summer so I could use the pots for other things. I had dried them off, wrapped them in newspaper and put them in a cool, dark cupboard indoors and forgotten them. The iris and daffodils should have been replanted a little while ago but I’ve filled a few pots with them now so I hope they will come up OK. The time is right for the tulips so I will try and get those done over the weekend.

Cod for us tonight but I haven’t decided what to do with it yet. I think I’ll go and make a cuppa while I check the fridge and see what I’ve got to go with the fish.

Missed your post there Gill. That was sweet of Sandra to buy you some birthday pressies. Chrysanthemums are a good buy because they generally last quite a while. I might have guessed they would be PINK :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Nov 2019 16:34

Yes they must be pink as I know you both like pink. Was'nt that thoughtfull of her and now the trees up you can have a Gill day tomorrow.

Been to the docs and she has given me antibiotics for my cough and cold as its been dragging on for so long now. She also gave me my flu jab and I did'nt feel a thing. What do they say? "no sense no feeling" comes to mind. It was definately the best one I have ever had. She got me to stand up and make my arm all limp and nobody has asked me to do that before, the arm bit I mean.

Oh has to go and have his now and I must make him an appointment then we both have to go back in January for our bloods to be done.

Hope the chaos has calmed down a bit now for you AnnG and enjoy your few days with the family.

Hope our Frank is ok and our Jane too. Love to you both <3 <3 <3

Just having a cuppa and I did the chickens before I went so I only have to go and take out the bantams corn if they have left any and shut the shed door then I am in for the night.

Hav'nt even thought about dinner but I have two nice gamon steaks in the fridge so I think it will be those plus some veg.

Annx Report 22 Nov 2019 18:15

Afternoon All,

Love your Owls Mel and I agree the middle one is the best colours. They look like a little family! :-) That's good you got antibiotics from the doc and your should soon feel better after a few days now. I find it varies with who does injections at our surgery. I've never been told to do the limp arm thing either.........but perhaps mine goes limp anyway! lol.

So 'Queen Gill' is having 2 birthdays thanks to Sandra's lovely early gifts! I bet the PINK Chrysanths were a smashing surprise and they do last well as Vera says. I hope you get the tree and lights all sorted and expect Sandra already has her PINK tree in place in her bedroom. It must be like wonderland in her bedroom with all the lights and lights outside in her garden as well. No wonder she is beside herself and excited. :-D :-D You will be able to sit and enjoy it all tomorrow now.

AnnG I expect your chaos is all sorted now so you can relax now and have an enjoyable weekend with family.

Vera, your dreams last night sound very unsettling and I hope you have a more restful night tonight. You sound like you have had quite a busy day to me.

We decided that we should cover the humpers of soil after the fence man finished last night so the rain didn't make them heavier and muddy. OH said he would sort it, so what does he do with his bad back and osteoporosis.......drag and carry them into the greenhouse!! Of course it's been twanging since and also set his sciatica off, but he hasn't had much sympathy!! What are they like? :-|

We met up for beading this morning, just 3 of us today, but had a good natter. The little rescue cat came to peer at us through the garden room door, but decided to watch us from the garden seat opposite instead. The 2 big cats were very fussy when we went inside the house later, but it may have been due to the fact it was time for their treat! They both give a paw to get their treat, just like a dog. :-)

No Frank or Jane again. I hope they are both ok. Love to both. <3 <3

Evening all,

Dry today and not as cold but we haven't seen much in the way of sun .

Love the owls Mel ,yes i like the colours of the middle one too ,you need a bit of branch in a vase to clip them on to display them on the stall they would soon sell .
I hope the antibiotics soon kick in and you feel better soon .

Gill what a nice surprise to get the Chrysanths from Sandra today as the others have said they can last a long time .

Vera ,Colin was talking to a chap he knows who is a postman and he told Colin that if they run out of time on their round and still have post in their bag then it goes over to the next day ,which is badness if your waiting for it , plus what happens if at the end of the day they run out of time again ,this could go on for several days !!!
They were strange dreams i had Vera ,thank goodness last night was a much better night ,i do remember waking up but just turned over and dropped off again ,i felt so much better today too after a good night .
I'm sure all the bulbs will be fine ,i planted some last week that had been in the shed drying out from last year,i thought i had planted them deep enough but some thing has been digging them up !!! a couple of mornings i have had to plant them again ,i wondered if it was the birds having a good dig ,they won't do it now as i have laid some plastic netting over them held down with a couple of clay pots .

Oh no Ann poor OH hurting his back ,it's surprising how heavy those tubs can be filled with soil ,we're lucky we have a sack barrow that Colin use to use for work so it much easier to move our tubs when they get full ,he wheels them out to the car on it .

AnnG i hope you enjoy the weekend with family .

Love to Jane if your looking in <3 and Frank too .

:-D : :-D I don’ know about chaos being over. You should hear the noise two little boys can make. They bounced in the door at 8pm and have just been put to bed. Mum is sitting on top of the stairs, one is in one bedroom and one the other, she is between the two and blocking their escape because particularly the three year old but both are naughty about staying put in bed. And the room is all tidy again down here.

Gill how lovely to have the pink chrysanthemums from Sandra. And nice to get the tree up too.

Strange dreams and nightmares what have you been eating before bed. My OH can’t eat cheese before bed or he has weird dreams. I dream a lot but I think it is the statins.
Glad you got your flu jab Mel. Actually I am surprised she did it when you have a cough. Perhaps it is because she also gave you antibiotics.

Annx nice to have a natter while you were beading. Besides all the chaos here we also had photography group this afternoon. It has seemed a long day.

Morning all,

We had the internet go out yesterday afternoon after I posted and it stayed off for ages so I did'nt get back to your posts.

Grey sky this morning and its been raining on and off in the night.

Another thing the doc did to me yesterday was put a clip on the index finger and I asked what it was for and she said it was to measure how much oxygen was in my blood. It was flicking from 97% to 98% and she said that was good.

Hope you all had a better nights sleep without and nightmares last night.

Mel I had that clip once I thought it was to measure your pulse.

Nasty wet morning here. Just what you need with two hyperactive little boys.

Morning all

Thank you all for my birthday wishes and cards. More presents today including a nice box of chocolates off Sandra. Unfortunately I've been sick in the night so I might leave the choc until tomorrow. I had a migraine which I think is what made me ill. Thankfully the migraine has now gone to a headache, but I'm still feeling a little queasy. Hopefully that'll clear up soon.

The tree is up and finished, I finally got to bed around 2.30am I think that might also have something to do with me not feeling well during the night, so I'm going to have a relaxing day today with Sandra and OH.

Going to have something to eat now, I didn't eat much yesterday so some food will probably do me good.

Love the owls Ann and Mel, Sandra thinks they are so cute.

I haven't caught up with the posts yet with being so busy yesterday, so I'll read them all after I've eaten.

Hi all, still in the land of the living. lol lol

Happy Birthday Gill. TWENTY ONE AGAIN . Hope you have a nice day.

eyesight still not brilliant, in fact the left eye seems worse this morning. Ros has had an accident with her nail. She woke around 3.00 am with a bad itch up her nose, gave it a good blow, but didn't help. So she put her finger up her nose to scratch it, and low and behold, the nail came off and she couldn't retrieve it She might pop in to A & E later, after finishing shopping with Martine. If she does, I have no idea how long she will be stuck in A & E. They normally have a notice up saying" up to FOUR HOURS WAIT"

Sorry to say I can't read the posts, but trust you are all well and staying indoors, away from the horrible weather.

Will keep in touch. xxxx

:-D :-D :-D HAPPY BIRTHDAY GILL :-D :-D :-D

Sorry to hear you were sick in the night, but I hope the headache clears soon and that you can enjoy a nice relaxing birthday in your Christmassy surroundings. I was reading yesterday that the Norovirus is about 25% up on this time last year so OH has been told to gel his hands when he's visiting schools next week.

Yes now AnnG has mentioned it I'm surprised they gave you the flu jab Mel as they always ask us if we are well, have colds or a temperature. I have had the clip thing a couple of times in A&E and when I had a hysterectomy I remember the theatre nurse said mine at 97% was better than his, but he said smoking would affect his!

AnnG those boys need to be outside to run off some steam don't they, so I hope your rain stops and you can take them somewhere. I remember my sister visiting when her boys were small and they were either squabbling or up to no good like filling the birdbath with gravel and half of it being spilled on the lawn!!

I hope you have a nice weekend with Hannah and Gareth Jane. I hope the nutritionist visit was helpful. <3

Have a nice time with Lacey Mandy and hide your knitting if she is coming to your house!! lol. :-0

I've now developed a cold now with headacheyness, but the throat and cough are almost better this morning and I don't mind a cold so much. There is a local small art exhibition this weekend, but I think I will go tomorrow if I do go. OH has found 2 matches for this afternoon that haven't been called off because of floods and that are local. I'm doing some filing and tidying in here next.....it's never ending! :-S

Annx Report 23 Nov 2019 12:31
