Poor you Frank, you are in the wars. I’m glad you are getting checked over by the nurse. It’s always best to be on the safe side. I expect you feel a bit shaken up at the moment so take it easy for a while. Is it tomorrow that you have the eye appointment? Thanks for the video link. Lola is a real poppet.
Gill, you don’t need to throw away cereals that are a bit out of date. If there is a “Use By” date, then I would go a day or two beyond that, provided the food looks and smells OK, but no longer. However “Best Before” means just that. Crisps MIGHT go a bit stale in time, biscuits MIGHT go a bit soft etc. I used to work for a spice company who made products for the gift trade and our products had to be labelled best before 18 months from production but the worst that will happen to spice is that it might lose a bit of potency. I’m still using a large pot of ground ginger that I had from work when I retired 12 years ago and it’s absolutely fine.
I don’t want to think about Christmas yet. We have quite a large family so lots of pressies and cards to buy without even thinking about food but I will start at the beginning of December. I find being short on time concentrates the mind wonderfully ;-)
Tomorrow we have to go to a funeral for the second of the three local ladies who have died recently. It’s a service in the local church, then a gathering in a local pub so all within walking distance.
There was a cold wind this morning but otherwise it was bright and sunny so I washed some bedding and got it on the line. About midday it came over very black so I quickly got it in just as the heavens opened and it’s been raining on and off ever since. While it was still dry OH appeared in the garden with secateurs in hand. AnninG and Gill know from the gardening thread that I have my very own Mr Crewcut - you never know what he might chop down next. I guided him towards the helenium which are ready to be cut back and by the time he had done that it was raining and I breathed a sigh of relief.
Time to start thinking about tonight’s dinner. Now what can I do with a bit of cold chicken?

Hi all, All checked out, apart from a big BLACK EYE and a blood lump under the eye, all is well. I don't know what the Hospital will say when I go for my Lazer treatment on the other eye tomorrow. When I walked into the SURGERY All three girls said "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE" The nurse was concerned that I might feel sleepy and sick. If I am sick I have been told to ring 999. I feel alright, and have eaten a chicken casserole, not as much as normal, but I have eaten. Ros wouldn't let me do any clearing up. I don't think I will be late to bed tonight.
I have to be at the hospital at 10.45 tomorrow, so might not post till the afternoon. So it will be three days running I have had medical treatment. I think I should book in for Thurs. and Friday, to complete the week. lol lol
Sleep tight all, xxxx

Oh Frank, you have spoiled your good looks for now then!! lol :-) It's bad enough as it is, but good that you didn't do yourself worse damage. Was it outside that you fell? Good luck with your laser treatment tomorrow. I just hope they can still do it for you now you have a black eye with the other. What are you like!

I don't know I go out for the day and Frank throws himself on the floor. What are we going to sdo with you? and now you have a nice shiner to go to the hospital to have your treatment tomorrow. Good luck for tomorrow and I am sure I speak for all when I say you were a very good boy to go and get checked out. Sending love and wishes to you. <3 xxx
Thinking of our Jane too and sending love. <3 <3
I went to the Works today and then to Lidl and then to Morrisons so I am really whacked tonight. I bought a box in The works to decorate and when I got home and opened it up what should I find inside but a Naughty Elf in his blue and white striped pyjames. I would never had been able to go out of the shop if I had known and I feel terrible and not sure whether to go back and tell them. A child must have put it in there or something like that. On the other hand I may just give it to Em for the boys and then its out of this house.
Hope you all have a good nights sleep tonight I know I shall.
Nighty night.

Morning all,
Brightish with rain and sunny spells but not much breeze or wind at the mo. Its raining now .
Hw planned for today as I must do some washing. I keep putting it off because of the rain when its windy blows under the lean to outside the back door where I hang it.
I had a nice piece of smaked cod last night with sweetcorn and a piece of brown bread and butter and it was lovely. Tonight is F & C night so I shall have cod yet again.
must press on if I want to get something done today.

Morning all
Not a bad day weather wise for this time of year, the rain and wind have stopped and it's quite warm out there. Last night was terrible with rain, it was so heavy on the window we had to turn the TV up the rain was that loud. I think we may of had a bit of hail to, so it's nice to have a decent day for a change.
Hope all went well at the hosptial today Frank. Sorry to hear you had a fall but good on you for getting yourself checked out. Let's hope it's the end of hospital visits for a while though. Love the pics and videos of Lola, she looks very happy with her new family running around in the garden and having a tummy tickle.....bless her. I bet Conrad is pleased she's finally settled now. I was only saying to OH how I miss proper chips, I'm not keen on oven chips so a dry fryer might be the way to go, I used to have a normal fryer but that took a lot of oil and would smell if the oil was left to long, so a dry fryer sounds just the thing.
Thanks for letting me know dry foods and spices etc... last a long time Vera, I always go by dates on things so it's handy to know that isn't always the case.
I split my trees years ago Ann when Genes was playing up and I couldn't get onto my tree for ages. Once I could gain access again I thought I'd do back ups of them on Ancestry. At the time our trees were very small so it didn't take to long to copy them over. The only problem I have now is I have to put everyone in on both trees so it takes twice as long.
I finished the section I was on yesterday then realised it was 3am, no wonder I was tired. I was so into copying everything over from Ancestry to Genes I just lost track of time. Needless to say I've not long woken up. I've only got a bit more to copy over from the tree match, so with a bit of luck it'll all be done soon, then I can concentrate on Christmas.
Our Christmas tree will go up in 10 days, I always put the tree up on my birthday, it's become quite a tradition now and Sandra always looks forward to it, counting the days down and how many sleeps there are to go, she loves Christmas........bless her. <3 <3

I do hope Frank got on well at the hospital. I have been thinking about him all morning while doing the HW.
I have hoovered the kiitchen and dining area which is really large and done two lots of washing, tidied up all oh's tools and put a lot in the tool box I bought his ages ago. He won't be able to find anything now!!!! Ha ha ha :-D :-) :-D :-) Its made quite a difference in the dining area and I just have to ask him about some bits in a cardboard box. If I can throw them away.
I have wound up a lot of litlle thin ribbons I found in with some lace and they are now all in tiny poly bags in the ribbon box.
Your really getting on with your tree now Gill.
I really must get in touch with my cousin in the states and see how she is getting on and send her Christmas card.

Well here I am, almost as blind as a BAT. but just able to squint enough to post to you all. The Doctor at the hospital wouldn't do the laser treatment on my eye. She was concerned it might have some effect of my injured eye. I have to ring and make another appointment next month, when hopefully it will be cleared up. The lump and bruise underway eye, has gone down the side of my nose, and is almost to my top lip.
Ros needed to pop into Tesco on the way home and parked where the sun was shining off other cars bonnets, right into my eyes. had to sit all the time with my eyes closed. I don't know what people thought as they walked by lol lol.
I saw Pam next door this morning. I said where were you when I needed you, I layed on the drive shouting your name. she couldn't believe the sight of my face ;-) ;-) ;-). They are coming in for coffee in the morning, so hope I can see a bit better then.
Eos got the STEW prepared yesterday and put it on this morning, until we went to hospital. It's back on now and smells absolutely wonderful. She bough a nice CRUSTY LOAF to go with it, so looking forward to that later.
I hope our Jane is resting and feeling a little better. Thinking of you, my love xxxx
Glad you all liked Lola's photo's/video. Conrad said he will send more, as he receives them from Max and Silvia.
I do hope you are all well, please take care and stay warm. That wind certainly has a bite in it. We have the heating on and the Halogen heater. that will go off when everywhere has warmed up. xxx

What a pity you couldn't have the laser treatment done Frank, at least you don't have long to wait to make another appointment, your other eye should have healed by then. It sounds like you have a right bruise on your face, I didn't realise you had fallen over outside. Best to rest for now until both your eye's have been seen to, you don't want to have another fall if you can't see properly.
You've been very busy today I see Mel, I did laugh when you said your OH won't be able to find anything now, at least he won't be able to make any mess if he can't find things lol ;-) ;-)
I took another look at the tree match and noticed there was no proof for a person who is suppose to be a brother to two men I already have, so I've decided not to put him in yet and have message the tree owner to see if there is any proof he is their brother, if there isn't he won't be going on. I'd rather leave him off than make a mistake and add someone who isn't correct. I know the other two are correct as I have a Will off one of them who mentions his brother and also his brother's children.
I think I've finally finished copying everyone over now, but I'm going to go through the whole tree just to make sure I haven't missed anyone off. Once I've done that I'll be able to sort out Christmas. I need to buy the food and drink and of course finish off buying presents for everyone, then it'll be writing all the Christmas cards, which is a job in itself lol. So plenty to keep me busy for a while yet.

I have finished off another pagan ring with ivy leaves on it as I want to keep the first one I made. I have also made two paper unicorns horn and glittered them for my next project.
Frank its a shame you could'nt have your eye done today but better to be safe then sorry but now you have to wait another month which will take you very near to Christmas. Hope the bruise goes quickly for you. I too did'nt realize you fell outside as you did'nt say, you just said you'd have a fall. Wishing you better soon and sending love. <3 <3 <3 xx

It's a shame you couldn't get your eye done today Frank. Frustrating for you but the doctor must err on the safe side. It sounds from all your lumps and bruises as though you had quite a tumble. I bet you'll be getting lots of remarks about Ros going at you with the rolling pin lol
I do hope Jane hears about her oncology appointment soon. Sometimes waiting around and not knowing is really stressful. It is easier to cope when you know exactly what you have to cope with. Love as always Jane <3
You are getting on well with your tree Gill. It does take time checking everything out but worth it because you often find mistakes in other people's trees. I expect we have all made errors from time to time. Your contact sounds reasonable and might put his tree right if you correct him but I had a contact once who was sure she couldn't be wrong. She had my uncle married to the wrong lady. Uncle had a common Christian and surname and late in life lived in Dover. She had found someone of his name marrying in Dover in the 1940s. I did tell her that I knew my uncle (now deceased) very well and actually had a photo of me aged 3 at his wedding and that he was not living in Dover in the 1940s. Emails etc went back and forth and eventually I gave up on her. Checking her public tree on Ancestry a little while later I discovered she had stuck with her original incorrect marriage but now had my aunt as uncle's second wife. So anyone working from her tree will be looking for the death of the first "wife" and, finding her still alive, will probably decide my poor uncle was a bigamist! Don't you sometimes despair of people?
It's getting dark now but it has been a beautiful day, one of those sunny, crisp autumn days that we rarely get. We had a funeral to go to and it was a really lovely service in the local church. I know both the deceased lady and her husband had few relatives and their only daughter sadly died aged about 30, but I had expected to see a few more people there. None of the deceased's rellies were there and there were only 5 of the husband's family. The deceased lady and her husband at one point belonged to a club OH and I go to and thankfully the members there rallied round and 15 of us went so we swelled the numbers and the husband was pleased to see so many friends there.
Now I don't feel like doing anything at all. I've taken some smoked haddock out of the freezer and I'll do that for dinner with some little potatoes and plenty of mixed veg as I've got lots of bits left in the fridge - a few green beans, a few mange tout, one leek etc. Apart from cooking I think I'll just have a lounge around and perhaps watch on iPlayer some TV programmes that I've missed. Is it too early for a glass of wine?

Glass of wine Vera, go for it. But you may have already done so. Pleased that the funeral went well and that the lady's friends turned up. Maybew the relatives live a long way away, maybe affected by floods. can't judge really at the moment I suppose but sad no relatives were there.
Mel it was a bright day here but it got dark early as well. OH spent the afternoon in the garden but he said it was very cold.
Fronk, pity they couldn't do the eye for you but, as Vera said better safe than sorry. I am sure your other eye must be sore so I can see why they didn't want to do it. good they could make another appointment though.
Gill that tree is certainly a mammoth task. But you seem to be getting there.
We went to the dump this morning and it was empty so we had no waiting to get to the bins and we got rid of quite a lot of extra electrical bit and pieces including old speakers and a DVD player plus garden rubbish (again) as Mr Choppit here has been in his element cutting bits of things and filled the bin. We then went to Dunelm, had a coffee and bought four cushions for the dining room chairs, then to Tesco to do the weekly shop. After lunch at home did a bit on the household accounts plus a load of washing, then wrote some more of my Christmas cards. That is the third go I have had at it one more go and hopefully they will be finished.

I'm like you Vera and hate it when people makes mistakes and even though you know the right people they don't listen. I feel sorry for anyone else copying that tree as they are then lead down the wrong path. I noticed a few mistakes on the tree I'm copying and although I felt awkward telling him after all his help, he said he was glad I told him and to let him know if I find anymore mistakes. He's been very good helping me I wouldn't mind but it's not even his tree, the part he's helping me with belongs to his sister-in-law, so I've been very lucky. We first made contact back in April so he's been very patient and helpful for a very long time and always says if I want to know anything just to ask him.....he's such a kind person.
You've been busy having a good clear out by the sounds of it AnnG. Lucky to that the tip was empty, it saves you having to hang around waiting your turn for the bins.
I see you've been busy again with all your craft work Mel. Did you manage to book the table you wanted?

Morning gang,
Back to miserable morning again here. It rained late last night and was really heavy. we saw a pigeopn sitting in the beech tree down the bottom of the east garden (Prickley Bottom) and it did'nt move all the time come wind or rain or sleet. Oh said it was still there this morning and he could'nt understand why it had not found a more sheltered spot to sleep.
How are you all this morning? All had enough sleep I hope.
I have the library today and I have to get these forms off to the docs and I need chickens food too and to get to a post office so a busy day in all. Lots to do, lots to do, said the white rabbit.......... :-D
Better get a drink and take my first pill. BBL

Morning Mel, morning all
Nothing much planned here today, I'm just running a bath then of course I'll have lots of washing to do, so that'll keep me busy for most of the day, then I'll go back to OH's tree to continue checking it against the tree I've got access to. I'm pretty sure I've got everyone on there now, but it's always good to check and of course I can fill in any gaps on each person re baptisms and burials as I go along. At least I can take my time now, so I can do other things around it, now I have more time.
It sounds like you're going to be busy today Mel with everything you've got planned. I hope the weather isn't to bad when you go out.
How is your face today Frank? I hope the bruise hasn't gone any further and it soon clears up. Take it easy, stay in doors and rest. If you have the wet weather like Mel you might slip if you go out, better to be safe than sorry and stay inside where it's safer.
Hope all is okay with Ann and Mandy, it's not like them to not come on here.
The poor pigeon Mel, I wonder why it's still sitting there, maybe it's to cold to move or it's injured. I hope it moves soon and it's okay. We have a dry day here today but it's not very warm so the heating has been put on for a few hours, my bath should warm me up to.
Thinking of Jane and sending lots of hugs from Sandra and I <3 <3 I hope you've heard something about where things go from here and have an appointment date now, if not I hope it's not to much longer for you. <3 <3 <3
