Frank Report 14 Nov 2019 10:34

Good morning all you dear friends,

Last night we had the stew, which was great. There's enough for tonight, so no cooking.

Not a good night again. I have a horrible cough that started during the night and didn't let me rest very well. Plus the eye was quite painful. I have managed to shower and shave this morning. so not all bad.

We are having Pam and Denis round for coffee this morning. Ros has various nibbles in the oven that are smelling lovely, as I haven't had any breakfast I am looking forward to the nibbles, and a nice cup of coffee.

Another old friend died yesterday. No info regarding arrangements yet. but I have asked to be kept in touch. This BLOODY CANCER is the curse of mankind. Over 60 years ago when my dad died of it, the doctor said "We will have a cure soon" I am still waiting.

Those little peg decorations look nice Mel, but I can see they would be fiddle to make.

I enquired about my Sister and DIL last night. My sister is a CABBAGE just lying in bed, and SIL is getting very weak. So no good news from down there. My Nephew John, is going into hospital early december for STENTS to be fitted. So hope everything goes well with that. When I think the the Eldest six nieces and Nephews are all approaching the 70 mark and some are over 70. it starts to make me feel old.

It has rained here most of the night, and is still tipping it down. those poor people in Doncaster must be suffering.

Company just arrived, so bye for now. xxxx

Morning all
What a day.Its foul. It is a shame as Children in Need Rickshaw challenge is passing along the top of our road in a couple of hours. We are going to drive up and park up hopefully at the garage(opposite Franks old house) and then cheer them on :-D :-D

I have got my appointment through .Its on th 25th. Oh Frank what a pity you couldnt have the laser treatment yesterday. Do you have to wait long before the next appointment? I bet you still look like you have been in the ring !!.

Love the Santa pegs Mel :-D That is nice of Sandra to ask how I am Gill. I am ok really and luckily am not in pain.Just discomfort really at times when eating . I tried a cod in butter sauce last night but could not get that down so it was Weetabix with Gold Top and Honey. James said he is going to make me Asparagus soup today in the new soup maker.

Thomas is being sick quite a lot at the moment.I am wondering if he is eating mice that have been eating poison.

Coffee time I think.

Good morning (just) all. Been busy cleaning downstairs ready for the 12 people who will be paddling their way here soon. Extra mats in the hall as they can#t avoid stepping on the carpet. Most of them come by car but one usually walks. Still it has all had a good clean now which will last a few days. Tomorrow eek we have the little family arriving.

Jane I am pleased that you are not in pain but it must be horrible if you are hungry but unable to eat. Can you manage things like scrambled egg and custard? How about porridge as a change from weetabix? You can get the quick cook sachets which are quite nice. And as a quick stop gap I like the cup a soups. Will put my thinking cap on. Pleased that you have your appointment and hope they have found something that will help. do you have Macmillan nurses in your area? They are good for offering advice and might have some food ideas. Hope you managed to see the rickshaw. they would need oars if they were coming this way this year. They did last year. Enjoy your time with Janice.

Frank, stay in the warm and rest your eye and enjoy the nibbles.

Mel As I said in my email I loved the FC pegs and as Frank said they do look fiddly to make. did you get to the library, hope the roads are not flooded down there.

Gill soon you will be knee deep in Christmas preparations and no time for the F Tree. :-D :-D

Oh dear, still no Ann, that seems a bit worrying.

Afternoon all,

Started off here with heavy rain but it's brightened up now and we have some nice sun shine .
Colin had to go for another blood test this morning as there is some thing not quite right with his liver ,they think it's to do with the tablets he's taking .
We then nipped to do a little shopping and came home were we lit the fire to cheer the place up .

Jane that's good you now have a date ,not to long to wait .
Did you have a good day with Janice ?
Poor old Thomas still eating all sorts ,i hope it's not poisoned things he's having that won't do his tummy any good but there's no way to stop him is there .
Did you see any of the people in the Rickshaw challenge as they passed by ?

Frank what a shame they couldn't laser your eye but if they think it might effect the other eye then it's better to wait .
Oh lovely stew always tastes better the next day so easy meal for you tonight .

Oh Mel i love the little pegs but i can see they might be a bit fiddly to do but they are nice .

Gill i see your still busy with your family tree ,not long now before you will be doing the Christmas tree :-D so it's from one tree to another :-D

A busy time for you than Anng with the twelve visitors and then family tomorrow ,are the family staying long ?

Yes hope Ann hasn't caught OH's cold ,it usually goes through the house .

Frank

Frank Report 14 Nov 2019 14:28

Afternoon all,

Nice to see you posting Jane, and hope you are keeping your chin up. I have to wait for my bloodshot eye to go down before I can have the laser treatment, I have beed told to ring again in a month.

I haven't heard of this RICKSHAW float, It's such a pity that the weather is so bad, but hope they raise a lot of money. Where are they heading for ?? Kettering Centre ??

AnninG. I hope your visitors didn't bring a lot of DIRTY BOOTS into your Hall. Put plenty of Newspapers down, to soak up any water. Might be a bit late with that suggestion. LOL LOL

I have had Carolyn and Jan on the phone, seeing how I am this morning. Plus Simon before he went off to work.

Denis and Pam bought little ABBEY with them this morning. She was so pleased to see Ros and I, and demanded a lot of FUSS, and chew sticks. She was such a good girl. Tracy came to say Hallo before going of to work at the Charity Shop in Towcester.

We are promised more RAIN this afternoon and tonight. Flood warnings are out for parts of the County, nowhere near as bad as Yorkshire. Poor people. How are things with you all in your areas.??

I'm not sure if I will be going to the Funeral tomorrow. I am struggling to focus with my left eye, and still can't see out of the left eye. I think I will pass on my regrets to the family, and stay at home.

I won't say enjoy the weather ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-). But take care and I will try to get back tonight, while Ros it at Choir Practice. They are at a new venue from tonight, as the local church is Soooooo Cold. :-( :-( :-(

Annx

Annx Report 14 Nov 2019 15:33

Afternoon All,

Here I am on this soggy, lashing with rain day. :-( OH wasn't good and was in bed most of yesterday, sneezing, hacking and coughing after a night of the same. It sounds like Frank has it now. I'm keeping well away for now and the hand gels are on overtime. I went to craft class then went to top up on medications for him. I should have gone to a talk at the Hospital last night but was just too tired in the end and driving in the rain isn't great when you needn't, so I had a very early night. He's brighter today and has a meeting tonight (close by) and a Hearing to go to in the morning so will be going armed with cough sweets!! I think I failed my Nursing exams this morning by getting him a COT with a 'surprise' soggy teabag at the bottom. :-D It made him chuckle though. His sense of humour is still intact as I was reading in the paper this morning and how they are looking to use other things instead of plastic for glasses frames. I told him one of the things was McCains Oven Chip waste and in a flash he said 'you could keep your eyes peeled in those.'

This morning I collected my new ring made using the cornflower Sapphire from my first engagement ring, also the gold jewellery I had rhodium plated. Their offer was to take unwanted gold to offset the price, (not that I had much, some earrings, a thin bracelet and necklace and a couple of rings) and which they weighed and valued in front of me. To think it's lay in the drawer unworn for 28 years as well.......what a waste! Now it is simple, very modern with a value just under £2000 which has astonished me as the bill for doing everything was far less than half of that.!!! It just shows how the price of gold must have gone up over the years.

What a shame they couldn't do your eye Frank. I said I wondered whether they would do it in view of the injury to the other. What a shame you have quite a wait for another appointment, but don't go falling over in the meantime and you're sensible to stay in instead of going to the funeral. Everyone will understand. You must look as if you've been in the wars now the bruising has started to come out as well.

That's good you aren't in pain Jane. I really wasn't sure from what you had said. I like those cod in sauce as well, but the weetabix would be easier as you say. It's good you have your appointment now and will soon know what they suggest. I was wondering how your day was with Janice and Larry? You could be right about Thomas as the mice are back in our loft the last few weeks since it got colder. People will be putting bait down now.

Mel those little pegs you made are lovely! They do look as if they were fiddly though. I bet they will soon sell.......did you get the date of the fair yet? Is the Pigeon still there? I was wondering if it was a racing Pigeon that was lost or having a rest?

I thought just the same Mandy about Gill swapping her Family Tree for her Christmas Tree!! :-D lol. How are you doing with the doll's clothes and what colours are you knitting them in? Do you have the dolls for their fittings? :-D I got some more of the christmassy fat quarters at Aldi yesterday as they had reduced the price to £2.99. I also got one of those circular cutters as they were down a pound to £1.99. I think some of the wool was reduced as well.

It's a good idea to have extra mats handy AnnG. I always think cleaning for visitors means a clean house after too, so it's worth the effort! MIL used to manage to drag snow inside sometimes, but at least that would sweep up if you were quick. Yes, I hope I don't catch OH's lurgy too! Are you feeling better now?

There were huge puddles across some roads yesterday and all the mud meant they had to close roads nearby a few days ago. The big tractors hedgecutting are causing it all. It's rained all day so the fields will be awash tomorrow I think.

Gillx Report 14 Nov 2019 15:49

Sandra's pleased you posted Jane, she's been very worried about you and keeps asking me how you are. Good to see you finally have an appointment date and not long to wait either, at least you'll find out what's happening next so you know what you're dealing with. I'm pleased you're not in pain. Have you tried a Complan drink, It's supposed to be for people who don't eat much and contains vitamins and minerals the body needs, I think it's a milky drink so should help fill you up if you can't eat much at the moment. At least it would give you some energy as you must be feeling quite tired with the small amount of food you're eating right now. I hope Thomas is okay, but like Mandy said you can't stop him eating mice unless you keep him in which we all know he doesn't like. I'm sure he'll be okay so please don't worry, maybe someone could nip to the vets with him just to put your mind at ease. I hope you managed to see the Rickshaw Challenge despite the weather, you should be warm and dry in the car.

I hope something can be done to help Colin, Mandy, maybe they could change his meds, my mum had a similar problem with her meds and once they changed them she was much better. Funny you should say about changing one tree for another I was thinking the same myself. lol ;-) I'm still checking my tree against the tree match but now I think I've got everyone I can take time out every now and again to sort out Christmas, I'm just waiting for a reasonable day of dry weather so we can go Christmas shopping for presents and food. Sandra's still counting the days to us putting up our Christmas tree, she looks forward to it every year and loves having her little pink tree in her room too.
She's so excited already and it's weeks to go to the big day......bless her.

It sounds like you're having a bit of a time of it lately Frank, at least you have Abbey for cuddles and company, that should cheer you up. I hope your luck changes soon and everything goes okay with your appointment when you get it.

Hope there wasn't to much mess on your hall floor with the 12 people arriving AnnG. It's nice to have a gathering though and a good natter. Yes, not long now and I'll be busy again with Christmas preparations, Sandra loves baking all the cakes and other goodies with me, we put Christmas carols on and have a great time in the kitchen, but that won't be until nearer Christmas day.

I hope everything is okay with Ann, it's not like her not to post for this long.

Love the Santa pegs Mel, they do look fiddly to do though, so I don't blame you for only doing four. Sandra thinks they're great and said she's never seen anything like it before.

I'm still plodding through all the washing, not much left now so hopefully it'll all be finished soon. We've watched a Christmas film and now we're about to watch another one. Sandra loves Christmas 24 on Sky and has written down all the films she wants to watch. I think she'd have us watching Christmas films all day and night if she could lol :-D :-D :-D

Well they have been and gone, it seemed to go well, we had three new ones this time and they seemed to like it, everyone had plenty to say, it is no good trying to organise everyone, we just let them talk so it sometimes ends up with half the room talking and the other half also talking. It is better when it is dry and they can get out into the garden. They all arrived in cars so nobody was really mucky and the mats worked well. Next time we meet is 12th December, Not sure how it is going to work as the decorations will be up so there won't be as much room. Never mind it is all good fun.

Mandy it is not tomorrow that the family are coming, it is Friday 22nd thank goodness. I have a bedroom to get back under control first as I was sleeping in there.
do take photos of the dolls clothes, lovely to have a little girl in the family who actually likes dolls and not dinosaurs

Frank, yes good idea, stay home don't go to the funeral, they will understand I am sure. Hope Ros is warmer at choir tonight then. Lovely for you to see Abby she is obviously pleased to see you and the chews!

Gill You will be all Christmased out by the time the 25th December gets here with all those films. Will you be doing anything special for your birthday?

Annx Ah, there you are, you were missed glad you have not succombed to the cold, My OH doesn't seem to have caught mine. I am careful, washing my hands when I have a cold, sleeping in a separate room and keeping tissues away from where they can be picked up but it is lucky if he doesn't catch it. I hope your OH manages the meeting ok this evening. I could not have gone to meetings when I had the cold and mine was never bad enough to stay in bed in the day. Keep using the hand gel.

LOL AnnG you wrote Tomorrow eek we have the little family arriving :-D so i thought they were coming tomorrow .
Yes i'll send photo's of the dolls clothes when i've done a few more .

So far Ann i've knitted a sweater ,bonnet ,dungarees and a pair of socks all in a nice Rosey pink with a little cream on the rib parts.
I bought some blue wool today as she has a pair of dolls ,a girl and a boy doll ,i think they are called Tiny Treasures a bit pricey but DIL got them half price ,they are stored here as they are from mummy and daddy for her for christmas but i have looked in the box for getting the size right.
I was looking at the wool in Aldi yesterday but didn't noticed it was reduced i'll have to have another look ,i didn't see any of the christmassy fat quarters either so i should think they had all gone but i do have quite a stash of them now .
Oh fancy leaving OH a 'surprise' soggy teabag in the cup :-D it made me think about how when we use to have the loose tea if you forgot to use the tea strainer you could end up with a mouth full of tea leaves yuk !!!

I had to go to the post office this morning and as i stood in the queue looking at all the things they sell now i was surprised to see they have Chocolate on sale !!
You expect to see it in the little supermarket post offices but this is our main post office so i was quite surprised to see it being sold in there .

I could'nt post earlier it kept coming up Timed Out. I had done a longish post too but can't remember what I said now.

Frank I think your wise to stay in and not go to the funeral tomorrow. Hope Ros is warmer at chior tonight in the new venue. Is she rehersing for the carol concert?

Gill I have been watching some Chirstmas films in the evenings when oh has gone to bed too. Some are a bit to sloshy for me but some are quite good. I watched a good one last night and sstarted a second but was tired so I went to bed.

It made me roar with laughter about the glasses being made out of M cCains potato waste and I have just told oh and it made him laugh too. G is so quick with his replies is'nt he.

Nice clean house now AnnG so you can get on with your crafting now. It sound slike the visitors enjoyed their time with you and two new ones too.

Nice to see you posting Jane and its good your not in pain. You could try some of the baby foods as they should be easy to swallow and nouriishing.

Oh is hungry so I better dish up now as he is sitting here drinking his gin and tonic.

Made an owl today.

Annx

Annx Report 14 Nov 2019 20:39

Well it's nice to be missed! :-) I think seeing your Christmas decorations will more than make up for a bit less space at your next gathering AnnG. It's good your OH hasn't caught your bug either. We have been washing hands a lot too. I couldn't have gone to his meeting tonight either but he's back now and said it was ok. He did sit well away from everyone else too. He desperately wants to go to the hearing tomorrow as he had a job to get everyone together to arrange it and then it was cancelled the day before and he had to unarrange everything last minute and then rearrange it again which wasn't easy. He may be speaking at that I think as he was part of the decision making process.

Gill, I can almost see Sandra's smile at her excitement about Christmas! :-D Does she watch any of the films more than once? All those films make it her perfect channel don't they. Does she act as 'tester' of what you bake together too........and lick the bowls? lol. I know I would.

Yes he is far too quick Mel, but you can't not laugh. It's the way he just comes out with things as much as what he says. I wish I'd written some of them down over the years. I shall be interested to see your Owl as I am making a little fabric one at class next week. I am going to experiment with painting the edges of the fabric with PVA glue to see if it stops the edges fraying.

Mandy you are getting on so well with the dolls' outfits. She will love dressing them up and I look forward to seeing a pic when you have done them. I looked the dolls up online and they are cute dolls and sound really good, but I did a double take as it said they SMELL REALISTIC!! Hopefully it is of Johnsons baby powder and not other less nice baby smells! Fancy there being chocolate in the Post Office. Everyone seems to try to sell everything these days though. Maybe it'll be cabbages and Begonias next with your postage stamps? :-S

I better pack my bag for beading tomorrow next. I'm doing more of the lariat necklace so won't need a plan B or C I hope.

Gillx Report 14 Nov 2019 20:54

Nice to see you posting Ann, I was starting to worry. Pleased to see all is okay with you. I didn't notice you'd posted just before me earlier. Your ring sounds lovely and what a surprise you had with the price of gold. I sold a few bits years ago as we were a bit short to make a nice Christmas, but I didn't get any where near as much as you. I did have enough to make a nice Christmas though which was the whole point. Hope your OH feels better soon and you don't catch it off him.

I've finally persuaded Sandra to watch something other than a Christmas film for an hour. I don't mind the Christmas films but like you said AnnG we'll be all Christmased out soon. I don't do anything for myself on my birthday as it's the day I put up the Christmas tree's for Sandra, that way she knows what date they go up rather than her asking me for weeks beforehand when I'm putting them up. She loves Christmas so much so I don't mind as it's nice to see her face, especially when her pink Christmas tree goes up in her bedroom. I've done this for quite a few years now so don't really think of it as my birthday anymore. I think the last birthday I had was my 35th and I organised the party myself and did all the catering for it to, it was a good night with all my family there, but I haven't had a birthday celebration since and I'm 53 this year.

Our post office is inside a corner shop Mandy, so I'm used to chocolate being there. It's been a long time since I went to a post office with no shop attached. I'm looking forward to seeing the dolls clothes you are making, I must have a look in Aldi for the Christmas fat quarters, I noticed some the other week but they weren't the Christmas ones and were a bit childish to buy to make something for Sandra.

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Nov 2019 21:19

Missed your post again Ann.....sorry.

Yes, Sandra loves licking the bowl and of course eating all the goodies we make. She's very good and greases the tins for me, although she tends to put a bit to much marg on so I have to keep an eye on her, but she's learning and doesn't do that very much now, she also has a go at mixing the cake mixture. She's a bit nervous of the cooking time as she knows if she opens the oven door to early the cake won't rise, so she leaves that bit to me, plus she catches her hands on the oven shelves and burns herself sometimes, so she's a bit nervous of using the oven, but apart from that bit she doesn't mind helping me with everything else. It's nice to have daughter and mother time together and listen to the Christmas songs while we're baking.

Everything to do with Christmas she loves and has even made you all Christmas cards this year from us both. It was her idea and she spent ages doing them all, she even had me write all your address's on the envelopes, so they're ready to be posted now. She said she wanted to make all the cards this year rather than me buying them so she's made the ones for the family to. She's had a great time making them all and has worked really hard on them. So you'll all have home made cards this year off us.

Yes, she watch's some of the films more than once, her favourite is "Deck the Halls" It the one where the fella puts lots of Christmas lights all over his house so it can be seen from space. I must admit it's a great film for her with her liking lights and she never gets fed up of it. I've lost count of the times we've watched it now lol :-D :-D

To be fair I watch Scrooge with Albert Finney every year, it wouldn't be Christmas for me if I didn't watch that film, it's the best Scrooge film out of them all. Sandra knows I like to watch it, so keeps an eye out for it for me......bless her.

She has us buying the Radio Times Christmas magazine every year and she sits and works out what we'll watch over Christmas and New year, she even includes things she knows OH and I will like to. She circles everything we're watching and lets us know what day, channel and time it's on.......she's so organised. ;-)

Good morning all,

Not a nice day here, lights on and heating. I didn't have a brilliant night last night. Everyime I turned over the aches kept me awake. I have aches that are just coming through the bruises. My poor body is black and blue all over. I am having a job to move around as well as still not seeing very well.

Ros said the new venue is lovely. But they had to wear slippers as the floor is covered in a light carpet. They also had to take water, as there were no tea and coffee available. The one good thing was that it was nice and warm.

Ros is going to the Funeral with John and Carolyn, and will offer my apologies to the family, for me not attending.

I can't see me cooking this evening, so either Ros does something or we get a TAKEAWAY.

I am going to get showered and I might even get back into bed, as I don't feel great.

Love to you all. xxxx

If the water has gone down at Dipper I may go for chickens food today as I only have about two days at the most left. Still only getting one egg a day.

Good you had a better night Anng it makes a lot of difference and hope the colds much better today. Good luck at the dentist for oh.
