Morning Frank and all,

Very warm here today but cloudy with it.

Not up to much today just the usual doing the chickens and I have a whole pile of ironing to do which I am not looking forward to in this heat.

I have to get my things down to the show this evening and I hav'nt put a label on the Sloe Gin bottle yet.

May wash my hair or I may not!

So boring old day for me really.

SuffolkVera Report 26 Jul 2019 11:41

Good morning

What a horrible night. It was so hot and sticky and I couldn’t get comfortable. Then I had several hours of running in and out of the loo. I think it was just the heat that got to me. I am OK this morning apart from feeling very tired. We also had some thunder and lightning and two very heavy showers of rain during the night. OH thought he heard it raining once but wasn’t aware of anything else. I wish I had his ability to sleep through anything.

This morning I had to take him for a physiotherapy appointment. I dropped him right at the door and then went to park. The physio was very pleased with his progress and with his determination to get better and has told him to carry on with his short walks and exercising and go back in 4 weeks. When we left I was going to get the car from the car park and pick him up from the door but he felt he might be able to walk to the car himself. I was concerned as it was about 200 yards away but he made it and that’s the farthest he’s walked for a couple of months.

I’m glad your eyes are OK this morning Frank. Please go very carefully on those rickety steps, we don’t want you slipping again. How did Ros get on about her arm?

I’m off now for my favourite trip of the week - I don’t think. Yep, the weekly shop has come round again. See you all later

Frank

Frank Report 26 Jul 2019 13:38

Vera, The bruise on the arm should clear on it's own, She is a bit concerned what the lump is under the bruise and will investigate that when the bruise goes.

That's very good that your OH has been able to walk 200 yards. Thats almost a quarter of a mile. So a few more of those and his legs with get stronger. Good luck to him. !!!

The shower isn't broken, it's just this blooming water pressure that keeps showing up on the shower. I know there was A MASSIVE water leak in Northampton, that closed some roads, and they have dug a hole the size of a Double Decker Bus. Whether that has anything to do with it I don't know. But it is a nuisance .The shower didn't work for Ros this morning, but it DID for me. lol lol

What a depressive day it is today. I have doors and windows open, two fans going full blast, and still you can hardly breath. It's very cloudy, so would expect to see rain anytime soon, well we can hope. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I hope all these things you are putting the show, give you some prizes Mel. Even if it's only a little certificate, it will be nice. Good luck. xxxx

Ros has gone to her nail appointment, then on to post the shower back and onto Tesco for odds and ends. She might go out with Carolyn tomorrow morning, if so she can get any fresh veg that I need. Apart from that we have no plans for the weekend. I don't know if we will get a call from Harvey, wanting his Sunday dinner with us. I know he is revamping his Dinning Room while Julia is away. and that needs to be finished before he goes to France mid August. So will wait to see if he calls.

On my own again this evening, I MIGHT. try having a walk up the club, if I can get a lift back, as I don't fancy my chances walking both ways. I suppose I could ask Ros to pickle up after the concert tonight. She has to drive pass the driveway to the club on her way home. We will have to see. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I'm melting away in this heat. !!!

SuffolkVera Report 26 Jul 2019 15:18

Frank,I hope the lump turns out to be something very minor but at least the doctor has seen it and will keep an eye on it.

I would be over the moon if OH had managed a quarter of a mile but 200 yards is less than an eighth of a mile. He has also told me I have overestimated and it was no more than 150 yards, if that. I am still pleased as it is the first time he’s felt able to walk to the car. Up till now I have had to drive right up to the door for him.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Jul 2019 15:33

Well it sounds like oh is making good progress Vera. I hope he can keep it up and perhaps go a little futher each day or even week. They must be pleased with him if he has to go back in 4 weeks.

I have just labeled my Sloe Gin so thats the last thig ready to go to the show tonight but I am not sure what time it is open to put the entries in. I know I went last year on Friday evening. I shall have to ring Ann at the shop and ask her as she is bound to know.

Not getting on very well today. Firstly my charging cable for my phone dos'nt work but I only found out yesterday when I had put it on charge and when I wnet back to it it was reading the same. It dos'nt tell me that the battery is not fully charged like it used to. I was down to one bar so asked oh to get me a new lead for it. He came back to me and told me he has upgraded my phone and a new one will come today.

The phone arrived and its a BIG one now and there is no sim card with it. The one out of my old phone is much too big to go in the new one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The battery on the old one is down to one bar so I am worried now I shall lose all my numbers and stuff off the old phone.

Frank

Frank Report 26 Jul 2019 16:00

Oh Vera, what am I like ?? You are so right, Theres me thinking he walked 400 yards. 440 yards = quarter of a mile I was always very good at maths at school, now I can't tell what 200 yards are. Senile or what. !!!!

I have been reading for the pass couple of hours, I just realised Ros went out at 12.30 pm for her nails at 1.00 pm. Where she has got to, I just don't know. I start to worry when she's gone this long, with only a couple of things to do.

She's just rung, she was having to sit for an hour at the nail place as the girl, who does her nails had to go out, and was late coming back. She is blowing up her tyres in Tesco, then going on to post my parcel, at least I know where she is.!!!!

Still no rain here, but the humidity is like being in a tropical Jungle (not that I have ever been in one) but have heard all about them on T,V. lol lol Have any of you had any rain or storms ?? They do promise we will all get this rain sometime today or tonight. There isn't a breath of air to be had outside. I have just walked down the garden. I am thinking about watering everywhere, but it's just my luck, if I do, it will rain.

Ros has to be out for 6.20 pm tonight, all dressed up for her Concert. She has a Union Jack FASCINATOR and Union Jack Flags to wave, she bought (well I did) a load on eBay so has passed them around the choir. I bet it will be a very enjoyable evening, especially if they sing some good old WAR SONGS.. ;-) ;-) which I just love. !!!!

Stir fry tonight, so it won't take long do. The turkey is marinating in sauces, ready to go in the wok, followed by bean shoots, noodles, mushrooms and onions. I had eggs on toast for breakfast and coffee and cake for lunch, so I am not hungry. Last night I didn't eat, and only had a few mussels during the evening. I just don't feel hungry in this weather.

I hope all your FANS are all in good working order. lol lol

Afternoon Everyone,

What a relief it is a bit cooler today! OH was up and had all the widows and doors open at 6.00am and a gentle breeze was flowing through the patio doors. My brain was still addled from the heat though as I forgot my beading mat and needles when I went to my friends! At least I could borrow some though. After we went for a jacket pot at a garden centre with an air conditioned cafe and it was set so low after yesterday's heat I had to put a cardigan on!! :-0

The men doing the work at Jean's old bungalow have sweltered all week across the road, starting before 8.00am and not finishing till 8.00pm each day this week. The pneumatic drill has been going every day and the skip filling up, but today we could see they are turning the garage into a room. It's what I told OH I would do if we had bought the bungalow. I think most of the noisy drilling would have been to get down to foundation level across the garage door opening. It's odd they'd painted the garage door though as that will have to go. We thought this morning's early pneumatic drilling was more of the same but when I went out, the close further up was cordonned off with orange barriers down the middle of the road and 3 big council lorries were parked up. They were digging up the pavement to lower the kerb across the new driveway further up.

That's a nuisance with the shower Frank. They really need to sort that out or someone could get scalded. It's good the doctor didn't seem too concerned about Ros's arm.

I've got my fingers crossed for you Mel! It's good when everything is ready to drop off at the place. :-D :-D

Vera , he sounds as if he is in better spirits now he is seeing some progress too and is doing well for the physio to b pleased with him and to walk that distance. He just needs to keep trying a few more steps each time doesn't he. At least most shops are cool nowadays, so good luck with your shopping!!!

Just a quicky to let you know I woke with a migraine this morning which has made me feel sick and dizzy so I haven't read the posts, I will catch up with them tomorrow and hope everyone is okay. My head is still sore so I don't think looking at a computer screen will help.

Good news though, we've got our living room TV back all fixed and working well. We're pleased, as watching the tiny portable wasn't easy. That's what's probably given me the migraine. At least we'll be able to watch the F1 tomorrow on a larger screen now.

OH's just nipped out for some painkillers. At least it's a lot cooler today so that's something.

Evening All

What a sticky night last night. I reckon most of the people in the country were like zombies this morning wit hlack of sleep. At least tonight will be better. Thomas turned up this afternoon after 2 nights and days . He looked a right wreck. He has juat been flopping around all over the place .I have got most of the sticky things out of his fur but there a some in his tail .He wont let me get to them.

I have only skipped through posts today ,so won't comment on all . My brain feels frazzled and I have thought it is Tuesday all day !!!!!

GOOD LUCK MEL tomorrow . I hope all your entries in the show do well :-D

Can't believe you had ot put a cardi on Ann ! Good job you had one with you.

Vera ,OH sounds like he is coming along really well now . He did well to walk that distance at the hospital.

I have felt chuffed today as I have not used the crutch around the house and have managed the stairs too without it . I did use it though when out shopping .I'm not that good yet but making great strides :-D :-D

Frank I thought the video clip of Wimbledon was hilarious :-D :-D :-D I had tears running down my face.

Hannah is on the phone so I will sign off for now.

Evening all,

At last it's feeling a little cooler ,we've been in the pool so much these last few days and i've just been so tired to post ,last night was unbearable in bed i was just so hot even after having a cold shower before bed i just couldn't sleep so i feel quite tired out , we had thunder and lightning just as we went to bed last night and that went on for about an hour .
It's been rumbling away this afternoon too .

Good luck with all your entries tomorrow Mel i'm sure you'll come away with some prizes .

Vera that was good OH managed to get back to the car it does sound as if he's now beginning t get there .

Ann fancy having to put a cardie on :-D they must have had the air con on arctic mode :-D

Jane your coming along nicely managing with out your crutch in the house ,could you go down to a walking stick now ?

AnnG i should think it was just the freezer struggling with the heat ,hopefully now it's cooler it will be working again .

Gill i bet you were glad to get the television back it's very hard on the eyes watching a small screen so that's probably what's caused the migraine along with all this heat .

AnninGlos Report 26 Jul 2019 22:01

Mandy Yes the freezer is fine now got the stuff back from next door and sorted it out. Need to do the rest of the drawers but waiting for cooler weather.
Gill hope you feel better tomorrow and have a good nights sleep..

Mel good luck with your entries.

Jane well done on going crutchless Lol that sounds rude. Naughty Thomas been out on the razzle again. I reckon he just enjoys the fuss when he returns.

Frank, pleased Ros finally came home, neither beautiful nails of course.

Annx that air con must have been vicious. Our Tesco cafe is like that and even in this heat I have carried a cardibwhen going in there.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Jul 2019 23:04

It was much cooler here today and when I went up the village hall to put my entries in the car was ready 21 degrees.

Gill pleased you have your telly back for the race over the weekend. Hope the migraine has gone by tomorrow so you can enjoy it.

Mandy the pool must have been a godsend to you both in the weather you have had. I must admit to still sleeping well at night and with the light quilt over me but kick it off my legs now and again. Oh is sleeping on top of the bed in his toweling robe.

Jane you are making good progress not using your crutch indoors and only when you go out. How is Fitz doing? Naughty Thomas staying out all that time. I wonder where he gets too?

Thanks for all the good luck wishes for tomorrow. I hope I do well too!!! but its all just a bit of fun and gives the show a bit more money to keep it going.

Morning AnnG and all,

Oh said we had some little showers in the night. I asked because some of the road is wet this mornign and I was'nt sure if it was a heavy dew or not. This morning there is some blue sky but a lot of white thinish clouds too.

Normal egg delivery to do and get the paper from the shop and then the show this afternoon after 2pm. Well thats about my day all planned out. Must remember to get the steak out of the freezer for dinner and put the wine in the fridge.

Morning All,

Pouring with rain since a few minutes ago........glorious rain, the garden desperately needs it! We found last night worse than the night before as the air was so still. I still had a good sleep though and was so weary I had a lie down in the afternoon.

Yes, it must have been arctic mode Mandy! :-D We popped in there this morning for a coffee and they'd switched it off!! There I was in 'arctic mode' dress this time with my jeans on and was hot again! You can't win can you. lol I have been thinking of you in your lovely pool a lot this week. AnnG although I'm usually too hot everywhere, we have found this place too cold at times so the cardi is always with me when we go there now. :-)

Glad you have your telly back Gill so you can enjoy the F1. I hope your migraine has cleared now too. Sometimes the hot weather and sun can trigger them.

When will you be able to go and see if you have won anything Mel? That's the bit I find exciting, trying to look calm and collected when you just want to rush to your things to see how they have done. It's a bit of fun really as you say and the best things sometimes appeal less to the judges than something cute but less well made. It's all in the eye of the beholder. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Jane you must be so pleased to be able to manage without the crutch inside. It's another step forward. Are you keeping out of the kitchen.........or are have you started taking over again? lol. Edit......just seen your post, Hope you have a nice lunch!

OH has changed his mind about which match to go to now it is raining as he was going to a pitch with no shelter. Now he's going to Market Harborough. Once I would have gone with him and had a mooch around the shops and looked at the old buildings, but not with my knees now. What a killjoy this getting older is!! Still, I can get my little horse picture framed instead as the velchro dots to hold it in place came yesterday. :-) I can also make the second earring to go with one I made yesterday.

Frank

Frank Report 27 Jul 2019 13:07

Afternoon all,

We have RAIN. !!! Not heavy just a gentle shower, It can go on as long as it likes.

I don't expect to see Barry today, far to wet to cut the lawns, especially with an ELECTRIC MOWER. Rain and Electric don't match. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Slept like a log last night, after being awake most of the night before. Was in bed by 9.30 and settled down before 10.00. Woke for the loo at 2.00 am then slept until 6.30. I am still feeling like a ZOMBIE. !!!

The concert went off very well for the choir. There were representatives from THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION, which was nice. From what Ros says the leader (HELEN) said Blisworth Choir is the best choir that she takes, and as they are only FOUR YEARS together, do much better than any other. So everyone one is delighted. They have a break now until September.

I hope your show is well attended today Mel, and the rein holds off. Such a shame when everyone one has put so much hard work into organising it, that it gets rained off. Can you go into the hall if the rain is to server. ??

Good news for you then Jane, you are doing so well, Don't over do it, will you. xxx

Many, I think we are all envious of you having the pool to cool off in. I have been to the garage this morning in just a pair of shorts. The gentle rain falling on my body felt wonderful.

Ros hasn't heard from Carolyn, so she won't be going out, which is a good thing, as she is shattered from standing all last evening singing. She is sorting through the song sheets, that she has been given, ready for the new season. Then it will be PRACTICE for the Christmas Concert in December.

I can't believe where the day has gone so far. I don't seem to have done anything, not even had my shower yet.

The lunchtime news is just about to start, so will sign off, try to catch you all later. xxxx

It's raining here too ,it stills feels muggy in the house even with doors and windows open but it's much cooler out so i think we will soon cool down .

We went to get the children some fruit and dropped it off ,stayed for a coffee and then home .
Ann i noticed DIL had an Aldi leaflet and looking through it next week they have the fat quarters and a tie dye kit ,fat quarters were 12 for 7-99 and the tie dye kit was 3-99.

When can you find out how the judging went Mel ? you said the show at two ,will you go down then ?

That's good the concert went off well Frank ,that was a lovely amount of money for the Legion ,well done to them all.
No it's not grass cutting weather today ,i'm sure Barry will fit you in another day .

Enjoy your lunch out today Jane ,is Chris fed up of cooking so he's treating you and giving his self a day off cooking :-D :-D

At our show you have to get your entries there by 10.00am and then it closes till 2.00pm for the judging, so maybe Mel's show also has the judging in the morning too, then allows the public in after 2.00pm. I hope she has some prizes!! :-D :-D

Thanks for that Mandy, I shall certainly pop in there now and have a look. I want to do some more tie dying and am interested to see what the fat quarter patterns are like. :-) I wondered if Chris was having a break too. lol

The rain's eased off here now, but it is still quite warm. Frank I bet it was a good concert and Ros was dressed for it with her Union Jack fascinator and flag. :-) What a great compliment from Helen too. They must have been so chuffed.

OH decided to stop in and watch the Rugby on the telly in the end. He's becoming a fine weather ground hopper. When I popped to the shop, there was a wedding at the church up the road. I did feel sorry for them all standing in the rain with their umbrellas up and the rain blowing on their nice outfits. All smiling though and the church bells sounded cheerful.
