Frank Report 20 Jul 2019 11:01

Good morning Mel, and all,

We went to one of our eateries at 5.00 pm. Saw a lad with his family from the Pub. Asked why I haven't been down for what seems months. I said, I can't be bothered, so just passed it off. Eos had her usual 5 oz Steak with Pepper sauce, and I had a nice piece of Haddock in Batter. No after effects, thank goodness.

It pelted with rain here yesterday afternoon/evening. Great for the DUCKS and GARDENS. Nice bright sunny, but windy morning here today. I didn't get round to going out last night, so read while her soaps were on. Then went to bed and read until 10. 30 pm. Not a bad nights sleep even thought I was awake at 5.15 am.

With Martine and Brian at their Caravan this week, Ros has gone shopping this morning with Carolyn. I might drag myself off to the pub later for a pint or two. !!!

I see you are getting plenty of information regarding your relatives Gill. Good old Mel, and Ann, what would we do without them. xxx

Harvey has confirmed he will come to dinner tomorrow, but not Lewis. The Management where he works are taking everyone out Sunday evening, for a treat and a thank you for all their efforts, and hard work. How nice is that. !!! ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Jane why can't you shower in those stockings ?? I don't think they would take to long to dry, if you wrap a towel round your legs, when you get out of the shower. Just a thought. !!

With Simon and Sally thinking of selling the boat, I am wondering if he would prefer to exchange his coat for something else. Eos still has the receipt, so I think I will ask him.
Mel, you just bought back memories of the FIFTIES. Kenysham was always mentioned on an ADVERT on Radio Luxenberg , for a watch company. It was always SPELT OUT as well. :-D :-D :-D

Would you believe, I have just had a recorded message from the hospital, to remind Ros. of an appointment on the 30th July (The one she has already cancelled) I really do wonder if the right hand knows, what the left is doing at the hospital. I just can't believe them. :-| :-| :-|

Off to get my shower, I have already shaved. BYE xxxx

Afternoon all

I've had my laptop on for a while but have been busy so have only just read the posts.

You sound a bit brighter today Frank, going out seems to be doing you good. Fancy the hospital sending all those letters and now the recorded message. I think you're right about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. Pleased to hear the batter on your fish didn't upset you.

Love the pics you have sent Mel. Thanks for sending the 1939 register for Jane and her daughter Elsie, I've now added her birthday. I think someone has got her birthday and her husband George's birthday muddled up when she died as her birthday was stated as the 1st December which of course was George's birthday. It's been changed now so they have their correct dates. Thanks also for their children's details, I'll pop them on after I've sent this post, then I'm going to look for all the children of Elsie's siblings and their partners. Thank you also to Ann for your help to. OH's tree is starting to make more sense now the bits of the puzzle have been found.

A message from Sandra to Vera and Bob

The photo's of Amy and her friends arrived this morning and Sandra is thrilled with them all, she is writing what you put in the letter for each photo on the back of the photo's and said she will keep them forever. There's a thank you card from her on it's way to you and she hope's Bob is better soon <3 <3 She's asked me to let you know that the little diamonds around the card may come off, so be careful when you open it. You should of seen the big smile on her face when she opened it this morning, she absolutely loves animals and is pleased as punch with them all.

OH's gone to his friends to see if he has a spare TV, his friend told him last year he had a few and our TV is playing up when we try to turn it on, it's been like it for the past two days, so if his friend has one he can spare that would be good.

Sandra has found Movies 24 on Sky are showing Christmas films this month, so guess what ??? Yes, she's had me recording some of them, so she's going to watch them now while OH is out. I'll watch them with her while I'm doing OH's tree.

Afternoon All,

Just popping out, so just to let Gill know I have emailed the 1939 census entry. The other household members besides Jane are Elsie and her husband George. BBL. Did I miss sending you the horse I felted Gill? BBL

Gillx

Gillx Report 20 Jul 2019 12:55

Thanks Ann, Mel sent it to me to so now I have two copies lol :-D :-D ;-)

Yes, you sent the felted horse, I did mention it in one of my post saying how you wouldn't guess you'd never done this craft before and how brilliant it was for just your second attempt at this new craft.

Sandra and I have just started watching the first Christmas film I recorded for her. She loves Christmas and this is the second year Sky have put Christmas films on during July. I think Sandra is hoping they are going to do it every July now.

I do love her, I'm so lucky to have such a fun loving daughter, she loves everything and get's so excited, it makes me happy to see her happy. <3 <3 It's so nice to see an adult who still has all the excitement a child has about Christmas, it's a shame most of us lose that excitement as we grow older. You should see what's it's like here when it's actually Christmas, the bungalow is full of excitement and laughter, it's great. :-D :-D :-D

Annx

Annx Report 20 Jul 2019 13:09

Sorry Gill, I saw your post last night and didn't read any later ones before sending you the census, so hadn't noticed Mel had sent it to you. I think with missing a day's posts I must have missed your one about the horse too, but I thought Sandra might like it. Since I kept using your old email by mistake I worry about missing you out altogether! lol

Must scarper now and get my skates on! :-D BBL

AnninGlos Report 20 Jul 2019 16:49

Thanks for the photos Mel. Love the Bullfinch one and the deer. We think our baby robin is being fed under all the hardy fuschias and herbs near the fence out in front of the conservatory but since we saw it on Tursday we have not seen it since, just seen the adult robin flying in there,

Frank glad you enjoyed your fish and chips and Ros her steak. Hope Harvey enjoys his meal with you when he comes, very good of Lewis's employer to treat them all, don't hear that often.

Gill Your OH's tree is growing well. Love hearing about Sandra's excitement and happiness over the little things and esoecially Christmas. We do lose the ability to 'have fun' as we get older and end up grumpy old men and women Lol

We have been to town on the bus today and walked down the docks and Gloucester Quays outlet centre, walked 3.8 miles and I am shattered, really not fit.

Spent almost £90 in Sketchers. I went intending to buy a pair of their memory foam trainers Then OH decided to buy a pair but he bought their proper white trainers so not quite so light weight as mine.

We then went and had lunch in Zizzi's which was £40 so an expensive morning but it did make a nice change, we were going to have lunch as usual in Wetherspoons but it was really crowded. That is how we ended up in zizzi's.

Jane Report 20 Jul 2019 16:53

Afternoon Everyone

Not having such a good day today as I had a bad night with earache.I still have it :-S
Plus all my walking I did yesterday has made me a bit sore . But I did go for a short walk this morning and have managed my exercises. So I feel I have done my bit now for today.

Loved all the bird pics Mel and the pic with the Deer ,your lovely border and amazing stonewall was great.

Gill, it is lovely that Sandra seems to get enjoyment from so many things and is always happy. I wish we could all be like that :-D So Xmas videos have started already then :-D :-D She is going to be doubly happy now.

Frank, I always get the phone reminders for hospital appointments ,and letters too . But so far no duplicates :-D. Glad you enjoyed your fish last night and that the batter didnt cause any awful indegestion . Have you been to the pub this lunch time?.it is good to hear you sounding more like our 'old Frank' :-D. Shame that Lewis wont be abe to come tomorrow . but how nice is that that the Management are treating all the staff . It will feel good to know the hard work they put in is appreciated :-D

No hair appointment for me on Monday now . Nigel rang to say he still has Jury Service so it is Thursday now. I can't shower in these socks Frank. They need to come off. I better remind Chris is is shower day tomorrow :-D :-D

Spag Bol for us tonight. I thought I would be cruel and tell Chris he has to make it from scratch. But then thought that would be too mean .So all he needs to do is brown of the Mince, add a jar of sauce and cook the Spaghetti. I think there might be some Garlic bread too. Although I dont think I will want that as well.
James is with Hannah this weekend . Gareth is down in Glos and I think going to an Airshow with his Dad.Fairford?Fairfield? AnnG you will probably know.

Janice was saying that Jorge is a bit of a chewer :-S and loves steal shoes as well as any soft cushons etc. They are trying to nip this in the bud. Only one wee wee in the house and that was when it was pouring wth rain .Jilly is still putting Jorge in his place when neccessary (sounds like a fishwife apparently :-D) So all in all just one week in Jorge is doing well . Loves his walks with Jilly. They take no notice of eachother though LOL Jorge's nose is always on the ground(that is the Hound in him)

I think I fancy a glass of wine . I have a nice bottle of white chilling .I have had enough water and tea to sink a ship today .

Jane

Jane Report 20 Jul 2019 17:33

AnnG I live in my Sketchers at the moment . I have the slip on trainers .(not the lace up ones) . They are so comfy and easy to get on and off .I can get them on with out the help of a shoehorn and no bending down. I know I will be getting more :-D
I know they aren't cheap but they are well worth the money. I haven't been to Zizzis in a very long time .But have enjoyed it when I have been.

We have the biggest dark clouds overhead here and can hear thunder somewhere (I think Corby way) .I might switch off the lap top just in case we get a thunderstorm .

AnninGlos Report 20 Jul 2019 17:45

Jane yes it is the big RAF airshow at Fairford near Cirencester. We went once, it is a great show. Not so good for those who went yesterday the first wet day for a couple of weeks in this area, not many planes flew unfortunately.

My Sketchers are the slip on type, I have got another pair which I bought in Spain, a lot cheaper but at the time my feet must have been swollen in the heat and I bough size six. These I bought today are a five. The sixes will do for evenings when my feet do tend to swell. Mine are a sort of fawn colour with a bit of sparkle. They are a bit cheaper at the outlet centre at £44.95 a pair but I doubt they are ever at full price anywhere.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Jul 2019 17:45

Go sdteady on the wine Jane we don't need you taking a trip with this new hip.

Yes our Sandra does love Christmas and all the films on the tv. I can see I shall have to send her a little parcel, or should I say an UnChristmas present.

I have done a bit of weeding in the garden and fed the sweet peas and picked a big bunch which are smelling the kitchen out now they are on the windowsill.

Frank oh has trouble with indigestion after fish and chips and says thats the batter that causes it. He has always been like this since we were first together 22 years ago.

Poor Jorge wanting a wee and it was raining. Thats not bad though for a new dog in a new house. My Russell chewed my new long boots once. They were never the same again but I still have them up the potting sheds and look at them now and then if I am up there.

Jane is James still seeing Jess?

AnnG that was a long walk today and an expensive morning out you both had.

Back to my craft work I think as its the show next week.

Gillx

Gillx Report 20 Jul 2019 19:57

That's kind of you Mel to send Sandra an UnChristmas present. I won't tell her so it'll be a surprise. Will you be wrapping it in Xmas paper?

Have I missed a post of yours Mel about the show next week, I didn't know you were making things for it. What have you made so far?

Just finished watching the Christmas film. The first film I put on Sandra had seen before, so we watched a different one that she hadn't seen. It was very Christmassy and when the carols came on I was moving my feet in time to the music, I didn't realise I was doing it until Sandra started laughing and pointing at my feet.

We've been talking about Christmas lights and how I put up over 500 in our living room once, I think she might like lots of lights again this year. She loves Christmas lights in her bedroom every year and last year she said it wouldn't look as good without lights once Christmas was over, so I bought some lights that she has on every night. I found some lovely white hearts in a lace pattern that light up and of course she still has the pink roses Mel sent her a few years ago.

It would be nice if I could find a light up picture in pink for her room but I've never found one. I remember years ago you could buy a light up picture of a moving waterfall, it was lovely and I've always regretted not buying one as I've never seen them again.

So Jorge is a chewer then Jane, good idea for Janice to nip it in the bud if she can, for Jorge that is, not her lol :-D :-D One wee inside isn't bad and if she had the rain we had yesterday, it was like a monsoon, I don't blame Jorge for not wanting to go out in it. Hope you don't end up with a thunderstorm, they can be quite frightening sometimes. Good idea to switch your laptop off, just in case.

That was an expensive trip out AnnG. It sounds like you got the footwear you wanted though and a special treat with a lovely meal is worth it every now and then.

It's okay Ann about missing my post, I sometimes miss bits and bobs if there's a lot of posts to read, like missing the post on Mel's show.

I haven't done much on OH's tree today with watching the films, but did find the children for the first sibling of Elsie's, one of them ended up in Florida after marrying an American man. His name was Fred Gerald Boring. They married in Cheltenham so it took me ages to find his birth as I wasn't looking in America for him. I did feel sorry for his wife though being called MRS BORING her whole married life.

I was all set to watch programmes on the moon landing today, only to find out the channel it's on I'm not subscribed to :-( and I was really looking forward to it to. Never mind there are other programmes covering the moon landing on different channels I've recorded, so I can watch those when Sandra has finished watching her Christmas films.

SuffolkVera Report 20 Jul 2019 21:05

i’ve got a lot of posts to catch up with today. I’ve just skimmed quickly through them.

Sorry to hear you’ve had earache Jane. I hope it’s cleared up now. It sounds as though you may have overdone the walking a bit if you are feeling sore. It’s tempting to keep going while you can but you need to be careful not to do too much. How long do you have to wear the stockings for? I imagine they could make you quite hot and we are supposed to be having a bit of a heatwave next week.

It sounds as though going out has perked you up a bit Frank. That’s great. I can’t believe how many letters Ros has had about her hospital appointment. I should think they have used half an Amazon rainforest in paper! Well, she’s got no excuse for forgetting it now :-D

Love the photos Mel. I haven’t seen a bullfinch for years and years and the deer are just lovely. We have been getting a couple of bluetits on the feeders, though usually one at a time. This morning there were 5 and 3 of them looked like youngsters.

Isn’t it lovely that Sandra gets so much enjoyment out of life and spreads smiles around her. I’m glad she liked the photos. I’m annoyed that she didn’t get them till today as I sent them 1st class on Wednesday and took them to the post office so they would go in the early collection. Never mind, at least they did arrive.

We had a lot of overnight rain and it poured early this morning so at least I haven't had to do any watering today. The sky looks very black again now so I guess we’re in for some more rain.

OH hates taking pills so decided last night that his pain is so much easier that he would leave the tablets off. Now of course he is regretting it because his leg is very painful and his back is sore so he has agreed to start taking them again until he sees the physio on Friday. He had cut down from four doses to three a day and was doing well on that. I feel quite guilty as I am sitting in a comfortable recliner while he is on a hard kitchen chair, but he tried the recliner a day or so ago and after 5 minutes had to go back on the kitchen chair. I’ll stop now and go and make him a cup of tea and pamper him with a nice biscuit or two.

Sleep well tonight everyone.

Gillx

Gillx Report 20 Jul 2019 21:28

I've just PM'd you Vera to let you know the photo's arrived as I noticed you had't been on here today and I wanted to let you know they arrived safely. That's a long time for them to arrive if you posted them on Wednesday, I bet you were starting to wonder if they'd been lost in the post. Maybe it took so long as it may of been classed as a small parcel, rather than a letter. At least you know they arrived in the end.

Sandra is absolutely thrilled with them, she loves all animals and is going to keep the photo's forever, (her words) She has sent you a thank you card which hopefully you will both receive early next week.

Sorry to hear your OH is in pain again, hopefully now he's back on the painkillers he'll start feeling more comfortable. I think he needs to keep taking them to keep topped up until he's finished the physio and is able to walk better. I hope that isn't to long away for him as he's been in pain for a while now, it must be starting to get him down, but hopefully each day is a day closer to him being fit and well again. Sending get well wishes <3

Annx Report 21 Jul 2019 05:41

Morning All,

A sleepless night again so I 'm catching up with some posts, although I find using the tablet more awkward. I wonder who thought tapping and swiping were better than using good old keys to press?

Vera, your Bob is paying for cutting down his pills too soon poor chap. I think we have all been guilty of that at some time and I hope things get a bit easier again for him soon. I used to watch Monkey World years ago before the chap who founded it died (forget his name just now) and remember Amy. She was a bit of a madam and Jeremy was very good with her. I saw him there when we visited many years ago. We still remember one mother Orang Utan reaching to grab her youngster from falling in some water without even turning her head of pausing from eating!

Mel those pics of the deer on your lawn are so lovely! The birds are nice too particularly the handsome Bullfinch. We never see them here anymore. Whát things are you making for the show this year? I have decided to start my bracelet again as it is too short for me. I want to change one of the colours too. I will need to get cracking with it if I want to enter it in our show though.

Jane how long will you have to wear those horrid tight stockings? They will be so hot in the weather that's coming after the weekend. Do you have to wear them at night as we!!? I hope the ache in your ear has gone now and that you are less sore. It must be hard to judge how much you can do as it is only after that you find out isn't it!??

Frank you are sounding much more chipper today which is good. I think getting out of the house for a while has helped! Like Jane said the injection may have helped too. I hope Lewis's job is still safe with some of his employer's places being shut as he is doing well there and the extra in his pocket always helps.

Gill, it must be nice that Sandra is so happy and gets so excited about Christmas. Hubby always beams when I tell him Sandra is getting excited about Christmas or has started watching the films! Lol I think we all need reminding to enjoy the simple pleasures at times. I thought just the same about being MRS BORING all your life. We have to be careful who we marry don't we, although I wasn't as careful the second time and now have a surname more suited to an 'Ebenezer' in a Dickens novel!

Well, the birds have been singing for an hour now so should I get up or try and get a few hours sleep.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Jul 2019 09:48

Morning Early Bird and all,

Hope you got some more sleep Ann. Oh is usually up about 5am.

Our skies are cloudy this morning so I hope we don't get rain again today although the ground still needs it if we are going to get a heat wave next week. I wonder if they will be right and we get 34 degrees?

Gill I am making one thing for the show which is the thing I said was a bit intricate but being ill last week with my face swelling up I did'nt do anymore. I did a bit later in the week but still not sure how to mount it.

I was going to put my mistletoe in the beading class but do you think I can find it? nooooo. I have a little thing I made years ago in felt of oak leaves which I may put in, I shall have to see.

Morning Ann, Mel and All

I wonder if Ann managed to drop off for a few more zzzzzzs. Ann 6 weeks for these compression socks :-S :-S Yes I have to wear them at night too.I can take them off for 30 minutes each day but it is so much effort for poor Chris to get them back on again. There is a hole under the foot bit which I can pull back over my toes though so I can give them a bit of an airing :-D.. Lovely shower and hairwash this morning :-D

Mel how long have you got before you enter anything in to the show? Maybe you have time to find your beaded Mistletoe

I am going to sit outside now and shell peas.I dont think there will be too many though and the peas will be small.

Afternoon all,

Nice and sunny here now but it was very cloudy first thing ,family came this morning and we did sit out for our coffee and the children had an ice cream ,Max is now worn out and fast asleep on the sofa ,he loves them coming and races round and round the garden with them .

You were an early bird this morning Ann i hope you managed to get a bit of sleep in the end .

So your only half way of having to wear those old stockings then Jane ,they are going to awful to wear in the heat and it sounds as if we're going to be in for a real heat wave this week .
Jorge will feel well at home with the heat :-D one wee is not bad going but the chewing is not so good .
Hope the earache has gone ,it can be very painful ear ache .

What are you trying to make that's a bit intricate then Mel?
I hope the mistletoe beading turns up so you can enter it ,is it next weekend the show ?

Sorry to hear your oh is in pain again Vera ,just goes to show he does need the pain killers ,men just won't listen to us ladies will they :-D

I expect Frank is busy in the kitchen getting things prepared for their meal tonight ,what's on the menu today Frank ?

We're having an Indian meal tonight from good old Tesco ,nice and easy i just bung it in the oven :-D

Frank Report 21 Jul 2019 14:50

Good afternoon all,

I like you Ann had one horrible night (I won't say sleep, because I didn't) There was no way I could settle, I must have woken Ros many times, even though she didn't say so. I finally got up at 5.00 am and had a COT.

I again have spend a good two hours in the kitchen. I have podded a bag of peas and Broard Beans, as both Harvey and Ros love them. Personally I can't stand them. Done Runners, Cauli and Broch, baby carrots and Parsnips. Made the Yorkshire, and cheese sauce. We have a nice BIG piece of Beef, which I have seasoned and is ready for the oven later. Lewis has requester a TAKEAWAY, So Harvey is bringing a plate up. lol lol

So nice that Sanda is such a happy person. It must brighten yours and OHs day, having her around you, is such a HAPPY MOOD. Bless her Give her a hug from Uncle Frank. xxxx

Vera, Your oh is like me, I should take EIGHT pain killers a day, with the option of FOUR more if I am in pain. I have restricted myself to TWO in the Morning and TWO at night, with the odd couple if I need them.I really don't like taking to many, and get addicted to them. I take quite enough with blood thinners, corlestrol and other things totally 14 tablets a day.

Jane, you will be well and truly glad, to get those stockings off. I know when I had my knee done I had to wear them for a time. DO YOU get itches,?? and need a knitting needle to push down to scratch them.

MEL, (DAVID BAILEY) lol lol Those photo's are just great. Has the Bullfinch got a seed in his beak, ?? it certainly looks like it. I so envy you having so much wild life around you 24/7. I haven't seen our HOG for two weeks. I hope he/she is O.K. Apart from th Starlings and odd pigeon, that's our lot. !!!

Ros has been sitting here like a spare part, waiting for Carolyn to pick her up. They have now gone, to a woman's all day open party for Charity. She does them so often, they really get too much. I said to Ros, you aught to go, if only to say you have been. They won't stay long I expect. Then she is going back to Carolyns to help her cut out, and sew up strings of BUNTING to go round her garden wall, which is on the Corner of the High Street and Stoke Road. It will be for the Canal Festival in August.

After my kitchen choirs, I got showered and shaved. I always drape my towel over a chair in the conservatory to air off. Today however, I managed to TRIP on the threshold of the conservatory door, with nothing on my feet. My right foot is throbbing like a good 'un. So I expect some bruised toes later. :-( :-( :-(

I now have time to sit and have a cold beer and read my book in peace and quiet. I hope you all have a pleasant afternoon, and don't do to much. xxxx

O Frank your poor toes. I know what thats like. Thats how I injured my right big toe but at least I had sandles on. I distoroyed the cartalidge in that toe and the toe dos'nt bend up now only down.

We've had our big breakfast and I need to wash up and then do a bit to this thing I am making as the show is next Saturday and things have to be in there Friday Night. I want to put my beaded tree decs in there and maybe my pudding pom poms but I only have two so I may put one of the little angels in with them like I made Mandy on the garland. I also have that beaded spider I made.

Jane it must be so nice to get those stocking off when you go for your shower. Mum had to have those on and she hated them.
