Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Jun 2019 10:55

Morning all,

Been raining in the night and everywhere looks nice and green. Its quite warm out today so I hope it stays that way.

Vera it was just a thought and something to keep in mind if all else fails. I hope you hear from the insurance company today and they don't make you hang about in this situation. How is hubby feeling this monring on the new meds?

Gill I take it mums is away fr a few days. Its good to get the work done on her room while she's not there and when you get the furniture back in place she will have a lovely new room to come home too.

Ann no you don't here that saying much anymore do you?

Blackbird news. All the eggs have hatched and we have five chicks in the nest in a great pile. I nipped over while Boris and his wife were away hunting and got a quick shot. She was sittiing tight last night as I could see her tail sticking up from the nest from the end of the decking.

Donkey day yet again. I really don't know where the weeks go lately. No sooner do I fill the fridge up than its empty again.

Frank I hope Ros is feeling better this morning and the meds are working for her. Must be so uncomfortable to keep getting these infections. I thought she had a little op to cure this reoccurance.

A few spits and spots in the air out there now.

Frank that kitten is lovely. We used to get a smokey grey cat come to us when I did Bideford Market. Her name was lady and she used to sleep on our stall all morning and share a bacon sandwich with me. Once she took the whole sandwich when I was serving a customer I had to go and get another one from the cafe'.

Gill I have forwarded it to you and its a video so you have to download it.

Frank Report 18 Jun 2019 12:34

Afternoon all,

Another terrible night, feel so tired and exhausted. I had promised myself that I would mow the lawns, but somehow I don't see that happening.

I had a visit this morning from who I now call a FRIEND who was the representative for BEN. (The motor trade benevolent fund.) He no longer works for them, but stays in touch with me, We chewed the fat for a couple of hours. He was so good to us after my stroke, helping to get funds for various things, and a holiday break to Torquay.

I have sent a complaint to the "Greyhound" regarding the very poor service that we received on Sunday, with a very strong reminder that they are nor the only EATERY in the area.

I have managed to retrieve the photo of WINSTON and sent it on to you. Gill didn't receive it, so could someone send it to her for me. THANKS.

Ros has just gone shopping to Tesco with Carolyn. She has hung out all the sheets and pillow cases. on the main line, and a load of colours on the airer on the patio. So I must keep an eye on the weather.

It's a good job, I prepared dinner first thing this morning, so I can now sit and relax, and try to get a few zzz.

Hope everyone is well and Vera gets sorted out with the travel arrangements.

Speak soon xxxx

I've just brought my washing in Mel, there's a few dark clouds around, it was almost dry so I didn't want to chance leaving it outside incase it rained. I'll finish it off in the dryer, it'll only take a few minutes. How lovely to see the five baby Blackbirds, I'd love the see the pics if they turned out okay.

Yes, mum went away yesterday and is back on Thursday so I decorated yesterday then put her furniture back this morning, so it's all done and ready for her return.

I've had someone helping me with OH's tree and when I came online this morning there was a message saying he's found lots of people, so it looks like I'm going to be busy this afternoon and probably for a while yet, adding them all to OH's tree.

Thinking of you Vera and your OH, hope things have improved for you both and you've sorted out what's happening next. I hope you do manage to get home safely and the insurance aren't to slow in helping you. It's a shame your holiday hasn't been the one you'd of liked, but hopefully you can both go away when your OH is feeling more up to it.

Sending get well wishes from Sandra and I <3 <3

Just noticed you have forwarded Frank's video of Winston the kitten Mel, thank you.

Sandra loves the kitten Frank, she said he's so cute. I must admit he is a lovely kitten and like Sandra said, very cute.

I showed Sandra the photo of the baby birds Mel and she loved them to, she's never seen baby birds that young before. You were lucky to get a picture. It'll be nice to watch them grow up if you get the chance.

I missed your post there Frank. Sorry to hear you had a bad night, maybe a few zzz will make you feel a bit more lively, then you can tackle your lawns if you feel up to it. I don't blame you for sending a complaint to the Greyhound, it's not on when you have booked somewhere and a meal you were looking forward to for it not to have been done. It's bad enough you didn't have a table booked but to miss out on the meal you had your heart on just isn't nice. If they keep doing that to people they're going to lose their customers, as like you said Frank there are plenty of other places people can go to.

Raining more here now so another wet shopping day but then again it may be nice in Bideford.

Wonder what AnnG andn T are up to today.

Anyone watch the war on plastics on BBC on a Monday evening. Very informative.

I think somebody winds this child up in the morning as she has not stopped talking since she got here at 0830. We have been for a walk at the Buddhist priory, through the woods to the beach overlooking the top of Morecombe bay.. then Coffee for us and crisps and juice for Inara. Lovely warm sunny day here today. The trouble is these days these children are not taught to play on their own so need constant attention. On the whole she is very good if a little wearing. Cute but strong willed. And somehow she has delegated me to take her to the loo. %3A-D

Vera hope your email bears fruit. It seems travel insurance is more about them avoiding paying than helping in an emergency.
Good that the new painkillers have been a little help, hopefully they will help your oh to move around a bit more which is what it needs to help free the muscle or nerve.
Frank hope Ros’s infection will soon improve.

Hi everyone
Just a quick update. I think the insurance people dealing with us just didn’t understand our position. I don’t think they knew we were moving to another location and had to leave this hotel. My email was very polite but I was quite firm and said we expected them to respond quickly.

It seems to have worked. We have had a call, they have taken all the details of our passports, luggage etc and are trying to organise a flight for tomorrow and we have requested airport assistance. Just waiting for them to call and tell us what they have arranged.

Love the kitten Frank and the blackbirds Mel. Will read all the posts later. Just going for a walk to clear my head before starting to pack.

Jane Report 18 Jun 2019 17:50

Afternoon Everyone
I have had a lovely lunch out with Fitz and we sat for ages just chatting (mainly about our ops :-S ) I am so cross though as is Chris as Fitz's OH is going to drop him off at the hospital at 5.15am next Wednesday .7am is his booking in time . But she goes to the gym every morning at 5.30 and is not going to change it. How bloody mean is that :-S :-S. We just can't believe it. He will have to be up at 3 to shower with this special Hibiscrub (anti bacterial wash ) which is something we all have to do before going in before an op.

Love little Winston Frank :-D :-D What a lovely little kitten . Big paws .

Vera I am glad things look hopefully sorted for you now to come home . I bet your bags are packed and ready .Hopefully a flight has been found for you and at a sensible time .You will be so relieved to get home now after such a terrible week. Fingers crossed it will be all straight forward and assistance is in place for you.

I have not read posts other than Vera's yet .It has been a long afternoon and then an hour on the phone with my Sister.
I will try and get back later. :-D

Gillx Report 18 Jun 2019 17:52

Does that mean you're coming home Vera or moving to the next location? I hope everything goes well for you both, it must be very frustrating at the moment, but hopefully now the insurance know exactly what's going on they will sort things out quickly for you both.

Gillx Report 18 Jun 2019 18:00

I missed your post Jane you must of posted while I was typing. That's bad of Fitz's OH to drop him off so early, surely she could of missed the Gym for one day. He's going to be shattered having to get up so early. It sounds like you've both had a nice afternoon chatting, he's lucky to have a friend like you.

Is Inara your granddaughter AnnG? Sorry I must of missed a post so I'm not sure who she is. She's sounds very lively. How old is she?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Jun 2019 18:13

Gil Inara is our great granddaughter. She will be three tomorrow. She didn’t stop from 0815 when she was dropped off until 5.30 when daddy picked her up.

Jane how very thoughtless of Fitz’s oh to get him up so unnecessarily early.

Could somebody send me the kitten photo please.

Mel such tiny little blackbirds. Blackbirds only usually raise a couple of birds, they pick the strongest to feed.

Evening all,

Oh it's been a muggy day here and has just started to rain a bit ,it's off and on at the moment but i think we should be in for some thunder and lightning later tonight .

Oh Mel those dear little baby black birds they look so funny without their feathers .

So a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel with the insurance people then Vera ,you'll both be glad to get home after all this worry ,it will be a holiday you'll never forget but for all the wrong reasons .
Have the new meds helped ease OH's pain a little today ?

Sorry to hear Ros has another water infection Frank, it doesn't sound as if the little op she had has helped her very much .
Hope you've managed to get a little sleep in after your bad nights sleep last night .

So you've got mum's decorating all done Gill ,it's worked out quite well getting it done before your OH has his little op.
Have you seen much of the new neighbors ?

LOL Anng you wonder how little ones can chat so much and they don't seem to have time to draw breath ,our Katie is like that she will go on and on until she's told you what she wants to tell you ,you carn't ask her any questions until she's finished talking as she just doesn't listen.

Ann how's it going with the Fairy ?is she all finished now ? it'sounds as if this one has been a bit of a devil to do .

Not long now Jane for you and Fitz ,i expect it's been more hip talk today over lunch ,did you have some thing nice ?
That was lucky finding your engagement ring ,how long has it been lost ?
Oh i see you've posted while i've been typing .
So Fitz's OH is not going to put herself out for him !!! that is mean do you think she will have time to visit him while he's in there ,
I don't suppose the bed will be ready for him at that time of the morning either .

Could some one send me the kitten picture too please

Gillx Report 18 Jun 2019 19:20

Three is a lovely age AnnG, but like you said it's also a chatty age. Is there something special planned for her birthday?

Yes, Mandy all mum's decorating is finished and all the furniture back, ready for her return home on Thursday. I must admit it does look nice, she's gone all grey and pink with glass chandeliers and a love sparkly mirror and clock.....very modern.
We haven't seen much of the new neighbours they tend to keep themselves to themselves, they said hello to OH as they were going out the other day, but apart from that we've not seen them. Their gate still hasn't been done at the start of the drive, so all we can see at the moment is two 5 foot tall posts, which look rediculas.

Poor Sandra, we were going to take her to the Zoo tomorrow, so I charged her batteries, ready for her camera and now we've just seen the weather forecast and it's going to rain. I do feel sorry for her, every time we decide to take her either the weather is against us, or something crops up that needs doing. At this rate she's never going to go. We're now hoping the weather is going to be nice on Thursday as OH has an appointment for his pre op tests on Friday so it's the only free day we've got left this week. OH's op is next week then he can't drive for about 2 weeks, so if we can't take her on Thursday it's going to be a long wait until we can take her again. She's been very good about it, but I can see the look of disappointment on her face. I wish now, I'd checked the weather first, before saying anything to her.

Annx Report 18 Jun 2019 21:48

Evening All,

Just had a downpour and when I went up the garden I spotted about 6 snails on the shrubs without trying. :-S

Your mum's room sounds nice Gill and I bet Sandra likes the PINK. What a shame her zoo trip keeps being put back. It can't be helped though and it's much better at the zoo in the sunshine. She will get some better photos in the sun. :-)

Frank what a lovely kitten Winston is with his thick grey fur. What breed is he......a British Blue? Good for you complaining about the bad service with your meal. Someone wasn't doing their job properly.

Vera, at last you seem to be making progress with the insurance people. I hope it is soon all sorted for you and you can get home without any more problems. I think you just have to write off this holiday and look forward to the next when your hubby is fit again.

That's good finding your engagement ring Jane. How much weight have you lost for it to slip on easily now? Mine is still a bit tight! Well I just couldn't believe that Fitz's wife wouldn't give up a gym session for one day to take him into hospital for 7.00am. What's the big attraction that she can't miss one day or is she so obsessed? She wants to hope she doesn't need him to similarly help her one day. I think I'd get a taxi rather than have to be up at silly o'clock.

What a tidy nest the Blackbird has built Mel. They look just like my baby canaries used to, birds aren't pretty as babies but soon grow their feathers. You will have to get updates if you can. :-) My word you and OH were busy mowing and strimming. I bet he was rolling his eyes when he had his hands on his hips! :-D

The fairy should be finished tomorrow, I've done her hem and made her a little bead hat instead of a halo so she is a fairy now. She's all sewn together but I've left assembling her hat and putting her head on till i'm fresh tomorrow. The teacher said you have to 'work at it' to get her head nice and tight or it 'lolls'. I can't be having a fairy that's nodded off can I?

Tomorrow I'm off to the free craft class in the next village with my bits of felt. Three beading friends are going too so it will be interesting to find out what we will make. In case we need them and have to share, I've put a ruler, scissors and needles in my bag.

AnnG little ones can be chatterboxes can't they. I don't think my hubby ever grew out of it! I think you are right about children not learning to invent their own little games to play. Not in the same league and teenagers not toddlers, I was really shocked watching the Northampton Police prog the other night at how many parents they said ring them wanting them to come out because they can't control their children. Some fly into rages and start damaging their homes if they get told no. The Police said these children don't respect parents, teachers or the Police. I didn't know there was a Buddhist priory near Morecambe.

Off to bed now, I have to be up early tomorrow.
