Good morning fair maidens. !!!

What a day it is, I was awake most of the night, as I didn't want Ros to over sleep. I was clock watching, even though we set the alarm. She got up at 7.30, ad I turned over, when I woke to "BIGGLES" Houling (sp) the place down it was 9.00 am.

It's been raining most of the night and it's not showing any let up as yet.

Valerie Barker (Sid's Wife) couldn't go out today with the trip to Henley due to the fact that she has NO WATER. Everyone around her have theirs. She rang the water board to let them know. The man said to her "have you been fiddling with the ball cock" She replied. Why on earth would I need too. Anyway they have put her on emergency call out, and someone should be with her within SIX HOURS. If that is an Emergency time, what would a normal call out be ??? lol lol

Oh what a performance getting into your hotel room, Sorry to hear your OH isn't feeling to good. I hope it doesn't spoil your visits to the places you want to go. xxx :-( :-( :-(

Poor old Fitz, what a job getting his brothers body released for cremation. I expect it's the trouble dying in a foreign country. I hope everything goes alright for him. Was his brother married, or had a long term partner. ??

Glad the funeral went off well Mel, I expect like here, it rained throughout the ceremony. I think a burial in the rain, always seems to stick in your mind.I remember my Dad's was a bitter cold February day, Ros's mothers was a snow covered day, which was such a lovely sight. The Vicar in his black gown, walking across the snow covered ground, to the burial site. That is something I will never forget. I spent two hours that morning clearing snow from the path, and steps, to the church, so nobody would loose their footings and slip over.

Just had a call from Ros, wanting the measurements for the Bedroom Curtains. She has seen a nice material that she likes. "MORE EXPENSE"

Still pouring with rain. Biggles has been pestering to go out, so I had to let him. He's back in now, and needs drying off. I won't say enjoy the day, as if it's rain with you as it is here, you won't enjoy it not being able to do anything outside.

Stay dry, see you later. xxxx

Afternoon all

Still raining here but not as much as the last few days. The gardens are waterlogged, but thankfully it's draining away now.

I've woken up with a Migraine so haven't had the chance to read the posts properly...sorry.

I see you have a repair with your water pipe Mel, let's hope it doesn't leak again. Nice to hear from William.

So you have Biggles with you Frank, that'll be nice company for you.

Sorry to hear your OH has had a bad tum again, let's hope it doesn't keep happening Ann.

Yes, keep a wound dry will help to reduce the risk of an infection Jane, but it's a bit of a nuisance trying to have a decent wash isn't it? Poor Fitz, he's not having a good time lately is he?

Going to get a painkiller and have a lie down, I hate having Migraines, I think they are brought on with stress. I'm not looking forward to OH going into hospital and it's been playing on my mind, so that's probably why I've had a few migraines over the last few days.

Its cleared up a bit here and there is a little lue sky showing, I need to go up the stables and get some bigger flower pots this afternoon to do those begonias I was talking about the other day.

Took a pic of the May bug on the wall this morning.

Sorry to hear you have another migraine Gill. Go and have a lie on the bed with your head hanging over the side near the floor. That used to help me and my sister in law. She used to get lots of migraines.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Jun 2019 15:00

Have you ever heard of lue sky???????? Ha ha ha

Frank

Frank Report 13 Jun 2019 16:06

I have now Mel, lol lol

Well it's finally stopped raining. I just emptied to food caddy to the big one outside, and could't believe how warm it has got.

Ros rang about half hour ago, to say the mini-bus was just leaving, so I expect her around 5.30 pm, subject to traffic. I will get the meal ready for 6.00 wish, as she is out again at 7.00 for choir. I have recorded two hours of her soaps, so she can watch them, when I go to bed.

Giggles hasn't wanted to go out much today, he seems quite happy sleeping the day away. I have just sent him out, as it's not raining.

I'm not suppose to know, BUT Biggles's dad didn't go out with his wife today, as he didn't feel very well, but was happy to leave the dog with me. Valerie mentioned it this morning. So I expect Anne to pick him up when, she gets home.

Gill, I can't say, I know how you feel, as I don't think I have ever suffered with a Migraine. But I hope you are feeling a little better now.

I left a message for my nephew this morning, to ask how things were with my sister. As yet I haven't had a reply, so I assume all is well.

Just going to have a COT and watch a bit of TV. See you later, ALLIGATOR lol lol that's an old one, isn't it. lol

AnninGlos Report 13 Jun 2019 16:41

Good afternoon all. We have had a busy day so far. It rained first thing and we thought we were going to get wet getting to the bus stop, but it eased right off and by the time we were in town it had stopped. I had a chiropodists appointment and then we had a late veggie breakfast for lunch in Wetherspoons. Caught the bus home and got indoors still in the dry. We then had an hour to get ready for the meeting of Gardening interests (U3A), that went well, we didn’t stop chatting until we broke up nearly 3.30, just 8 of us this afternoon. So that is that out of the way, next thing to do is think about what we are taking away with us.

Jane, yes, best to obey orders and keep the wound dry. When I have the small surgical procedures to remove basal cell carcinomas I am told I can shower but to smother the wound with Vaseline and a waterproof dressing but they are small wounds. I have seen clingfilm advocated as well. But easiest thing is to accept that you need to strip wash and that it won’t be for ever. Just a case of being patient. I have to be honest here and admit I do not shower every day. I think back to when baths were once a week, we didn’t smell, a wash was sufficient, so neither of us choose to shower daily unless it is very hot.

What a pity Fitz’s brother didn’t think to change his next of kin to someone he was with in Thailand, it would have saved a lot of problems.

Annx Oh dear sorry your OH had a relapse, maybe dry toast with a little scrambled egg when he next eats. If it carries on maybe he should see the GP. Are you OK now? I wonder if it is worrying about whether he might not be ok that starts it off again (nervous tummy)?

Mandy, sadly it was a bit too wet underfoot for them to go outside, although it was not raining. However they did go out and look through the conservatory windows.

Mel, Herons are quite ungainly birds when they land aren’t they. Keep the pond covered now or it will creep in while you are not there.
Aaw, you didn’t shoot the little baby did you??
What sort of begonias are you potting up, bedding or corms?

Gill, hope the migraine has cleared up for you. It is easy to get stressed when your OH is due to go into hospital. Worrying about him and if he will be OK and worrying about yourself being on your own. I would be the same I know. Our son always says. “No point in worrying Mum until something really happens, not goo anticipating it”. Easier said than done though in my case, and I guess in yours too. Try to take your mind off it though and visualise when it will all be over and he is home from hospital for you to look after.

Vera, that sounded like a horrendous journey, I don’t mind a bit of turbulence, and we do seem to get more these days than we used to in the summer, but don’t like it if it goes on too long.

A nuisance having to wait so long for your room. I know they tell you check in times but, knwing you don’t have a choice of when you arrive, you’d think they would try and re-arrange things so the rooms of people who have arrived were done first before those arriving later.

Sorry to hear your OH is suffering with his back hip and leg. Has he been told what is causing it? Could it be sciatica? Mine is really painful in one leg when I lie down so last night I was awake for hours, had about 3 hours sleep as every time I dropped off the pain in my leg woke me. And, having had my injured ankle while in Wales, I know what it is like to want to walk and be in too much pain to walk far. I hope that maybe the warmth of the sun will help to ease the pain.

Frank, hope Ros has had a good day and got her curtain material. Loved the name that you gave Biggles (Giggles), in error I am sure but was just picturing a dog called Giggles and what it would look like.

Phew, I think I have caught up, such a lot of posts to answer. Hope Anne is OK, it is quite a while since she was on here.

AnnG they are non stop begonias. I bought them in Morrisoons as young plants and thought I had two red a yellow and a pinky one but today now the flowers are a bit more open I have one red and one a sort of deep fucshia pink which I like. Not too keen on the red ones but I don't know why. I like the orange and the white and different pinks and the yellow.

I shall see if I can download the photos of the Wrens and then send them but I must corn the chickens first and do the wwshing up from lunch as I left it and oh has'nt done it.

Lamb chops for dinner tonight wiith new pots baby corn on the cobs and tenderstream brocc. Yummy............

Morning All,

It was pouring down here earlier, but dare I say it, it's stopped now and there's a bit of sun coming through.

OH was ok again last night and had some sandwiches. He has had poached eggs on toast for lunch and will be off to his meeting tonight if there are no more dashes!! It may be that a bit of the bug was still in his system yesterday. As his mother had bowel cancer, even though his last home test they send was clear, he won't hesitate to see the doctor and has already mentioned going if it isn't gone by the weekend.

Yes I couldn't find it on our planner Mel, so I'll try the iplayer. What sort of Begonias do you have and what colours?

It sounds like Biggles was shouting for his breakfast this morning Frank, or perhaps he wanted your company.

Mandy, the wind and rain we had was awful and there were bits of tree on the road everywhere. I'm sure it's what blew Mrs O's new fence so it leans. How did the children get on with their trips? I hope it wasn't too wet.

There is a 6 week free course at the village hall near where we usually do our beading on Fridays. One of the ladies has joined and it looks quite good. They are doing various crafts including embroidery and felting. She's telling us more about it tomorrow, but my gut feeling is that it is more sewing based which I like but am not so interested in.

I've also been asked if I will look at some papers to do with the research and give opinion/comment which will be interesting. Things seem to be a bit quiet on that front lately but I expect they have been hit by cuts too.

Sorry you have another migraine Gill. They are horrid. OH couldn't get any of the pink Migraleve tablets when he tried recently as there is a shortage of one of the ingredients! Sometimes pressing on the point of pain with your finger for a while will ease the headache. Make sure you are drinking enough too. I hope you soon feel better.

Afternoon All

I think I must have webbed feet by now.It is still pouring .We will all be waddling like Ducks soon. I hope Ros has had a nice day out Frank and that the weather hasnt spoilt the trip . So Biggles is having a day out too with his Uncle Frank :-D.I'm not suprised he hasnt wanted out much today. I have just chased Thomas out as he has come in with a bird in his mouth :-S little horror.

That was nice to hear from William Mel. I am sorry that Carmel is not in great health :-(

How is your migraine now Gill.I cant imagine what it must be like . A bad headache is bad enough so a Migraine must be awful.

Ann, I wonder if it is actually a bug that OH has.It could be.
Is it tomorrow you have your eye test Mandy?

I have just been on the phone as Janice rang and now I seem to have lost track of commenting on the posts :-S
I hope Vera and OH like the Hotel and have settled in after havign to wait for the room to be ready.

Good news today .Hannah has got the job she interviewed for yesterday :-D :-D :-D

O Jane thats great news Hannah getting the new job. What will she be doing? As AnnG said it will keep her mind occupied.

Ann I am glad oh is a little better now and can go to his meeting tonight. Lets hope that is the last of it now and he can carry on as normal.

Mel i love the little wrens and it's a lovely photo of the Robin ,we had a couple of pretty little birds plodding about on the pool cover this morning they were pecking bits off the cover ,they were black and white with a little grey on them too .

Shame it was to wet outside for the group to go into the garden AnnG ,do you take turns to go to each others garden ?

Ann i hope OH is better now so he can make his meeting tonight ,some times these bugs take a while to get them out of your system .
i think the girls really enjoyed their trips away ,i was talking to Katie last night and she was so excited about all the things she had done ,she really liked doing the rock climbing .
The free course at the hall sounds good ,i think i would like having a go at the felting ,i wonder what else they will be doing .

Well done to Hannah so pleased for her ,what will she be doing now ? ,she's done well to get it as i'm sure she still has things on her mind all the time and it must be hard to concentrate on any thing at times .
I'm going to town tomorrow to make an appointment for my eye test ,i forgot today when i went to boots ,i had to get my tablets and also Colin's tablets last time i went for Colin's they couldn't get his Quinine tablets that he takes for cramp ,the company don't make them any more so he had to go back to the doctor and he's given him Quinine in a smaller dose ,why they stopped the higher dose i don't know.

Annx Report 13 Jun 2019 22:10

Well done Hannah! As you rightly say Jane it takes years of study to get where she is and it would have not been easy to prepare for and be interviewed after her very recent upset.

It sounds like Katie is keen on the rock climbing Mandy! She obviously doesn't mind heights too much. Yes, I fancy needle felting and hope to do some this year. If you go on the Pinterest site and search for needlefelt animals there are some really lovely ones. I enjoyed making the felted wool handbag we did in class years ago as well. I hope they can fit you in soon for an eye test tomorrow.

Well OH is just back from his meeting which he had expected would be a long one and he was fine so maybe it is out of his system at last. I have been fine so we are hopefully back to normal.

Lovely pics of those baby Wrens Mel.........they must be really tiny. I have left Begonias in the garden sometimes and they have come up the next year, but not all of them.

AnnG, it's a shame your guests couldn't try out the new handrail today, but at least they could see what a nice job your hubby had made of it. :-)

Beading tomorrow so I am continuing with the Angel/Fairy. I've done her dress now so will be doing her wings next.
