O poor oh Vera its not a good rest for poor oh is it? I do hope the meds kick in and he can enjoy the rests of the time away. What did you have for your picnic indoors?
Poor Lola now wthe pups have new homes. I remember my Jack Russel missed her pups but I did keep one, little Shami the runt of the littler. I kept her till she was 13 and then had doggy Alzheimer's.
I wonder if H & G went tothe hsow in the end? if you hav'nt had any pics Jane.
I have been in the garden all afternoon repotting plants and putting some over on the decking by my pond from the front of my shed. Oh has been mowing and tried to get the big strimmer to work but ended up using my new battery one round the back of the bungalow.
No I have'nt even looked at the show book yet to see what I am going to put in. I hav'nt made anything lately with doing the garden. Thats the thing I can only do one thing or another. It all takes more time now I am older. Its frustrating.
I wrote to my cousin in Ohio yesterday and she replied aying it must be ESP as she had been meaning to write for a while and I had too. With all the trouble with the water I had'nt written since December.
I am going in the shower now and may go in the tub as there is no wind tonight.
We have had a few showers today but its been mostly dry and a bit sunny this afternoon.
Have a nice time in Anng on your next trip and I hope the ankle holds out so you can get some more walking in.

Morning all
Sunny again here today so OH is cutting our lawns now it's dried out, we had lovely sunshine yesterday to, so with a bit of luck the front garden might be weeded today.
Poor OH stuck in the shed Mandy, I hope he wasn't in there long. It sounds like we were lucky with the weather yesterday and today.
Have a safe journey today AnnG, can't wait to hear all abut it. Have a fab holiday. Glad your ankle is much better so you can walk around pain free.
How is OH today Vera, have the meds kicked in yet? I hope he's feeling a little better and can now go out a little with you. How long are you away for?
Oh dear Mel, a fox in the hog feeding pen, did he actually get in? Great minds think alike I see with your cousin going to write to you at the same time you decided to write to her. You make lots of lovely things, I'm sure you'll think of something to enter into the show.
Did H&G go to the show in the end Jane? I hope they had a nice time if they did.
Next door has started cutting his lawns now, so both OH and him have their lawn mowers going. OH wants to get it done before Sandra wakes up with it being father's day. It looks like we're in for a nice day weather wise, it's so nice to see the sun again after all the rain we've had lately.
I've just put the lamb in the oven to cook slowly, so will make OH and I a cuppa then take another look at OH's tree. I did really well on his tree last night, but lost track of time, before I knew it, it was 2am so I packed up and went to bed. I'm all refreshed today ready for the next bout of people to find. :-)

Morning Gill and all,
We have sun but the winds blowing a bit today too and my dephiums don't like it as they are over 5' tall. I do have them tied up so I hope they survive the wind.
No still hav'nt gone through the book to see what I am going to put in the show.
I do hope Vera's h is a bit better today and he can manage to get about more. One holiday we went on to St Ives in Cornwall my mum got Laryngitis and had to stay in bed in the hotel. Poor old dad had to stay at the hotel for a couple of days with her but my friend and I went out and about. I think that was the holiday I bought a new bridle for my pony there and it cost me £5. How times have changed.
No Gill the fox did'nt get in the pen but was walking around it to see where it could get in. I did'nt see a hog last night and I expect the crows ate the food early this morning. Oh said he saw one down the garden by Prickly Bottom but it did'nt come up the garden. I have my tablet on the table at night when I am watching the telly as we have cameras lookin g down so if I see one at the bowls I go out and watch it.
Safe journey today AnnG and have a lovely time. Whose looking after the garden while your away?

Good morning I am furious. I spent ages after breakfast doing a long post on my iPad only to be told when I tried to send it that it couldn’t go because Safari couldn’t connect to the server. But I did have a full wi-fi connection :-|
I was feeling very fed up and let of steam a bit as I knew you would all be kind enough to listen and I didn’t want to burden OH any more with my moans. As you might guess we are still stuck in the room. If OH isn’t considerably improved by tomorrow we will have to call the doctor again.
I hope all of you with problems of painful backs, hips, shoulders, legs, heads and gippy tummies are feeling better today.
AnninG, I hope you are having a good journey and the weather stays nice for you while you are away.
I am now off to see if the shops are open on Sundays. If not we’ll get a toastie from the bar for lunch.
May be back later. In the meantime have a good day everyone.

Morning you lot. It has taken me ages to flip through all your postings. !!!
This blooming weather is so unpredictable, one minute SUNSHINE then RAIN.
Yes a senior moments regarding the "Kittens" Puppies" I bet it was taking about Harvey's WINSTON. that did it. Silly old fool !!!
Poor you and OH Vera. When will it all end for you. I did't know you were on a touring holiday, which must make it even more difficult. I do hope your OH starts to feel a little better soon.
You do seem to be lucky being able to mow the lawns Gill/Mel, ours is so wet, I don't even want to walk on it. It's peeing down again this morning. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I have contacted the restaurant where we are going this evening, to reserve FOUR portions of ROAST BEEF It would just be our luck that they would have run out by the time we get there for 7.00 pm. It has happened to us before. Being that it's Fathers day they are bound to be VERY BUSY.
Ros is taking Valerie B to visit Val, next door in hospital at 2.00 pm today. From what we have heard from Tony, she is not at all well. So I do hope this isn't the beginning of the end. :-( :-( :-( The last time I saw her, she looked so frail, and could hardly speak. Poor thing. xxx
I hope that those of you who are on holiday or are going, have a wonderful time. Oh how I wish I was stiil in Spain ;-) ;-) This weather is so depressing, and playing havoc with my Arthritis. After having heat patched on all day yesterday, and rubbing cream in my neck and shoulders in the evening,I still lain in bed in a most uncomfortable positions, no matter where I turned, it woke me up. I was still awake at 4.00 am and was up and about by 8.00 am.
Simon rang this morning to wish me a "HAPPY FATHERS DAY" That's a first. I expect to hear from Conrad sometime today as he never forgets.
You wouldn't believe but I just looked out the back and it's clear BLUE SKY with Fluffy white clouds. FLAMING JUNE :-P :-P :-P :-P
Might get back this evening, if not have a great day. xxx

Afternoon All
Oh Vera, you sound like you are going stir crazy :-( I am so so sorry this holday that you were so looking forward to has turned into a real nightmare. I dont know what else the Dr will be able to do to help the sciatic pain OH has. How long have you got left at this hotel now? Will you be able to move on to the next place? Is it by coach /train ? If I was in your position now I know Chris and I would be at eachothers throats being cooped up .
Frank I am now really confused with kittens and puppies. Will you tell us again please :-D Val sounds very unwell doesnt she. How old is she? The fact she was already frail before the fall and breaking her hip doesn't bode well really. Hope you have managed to save BEEF for tonight :-D. Can they do that? There will hopefully be a big platter put aside with your name on for 7pm :-D
Was the baby Fox a real baby Mel or a youngster? I saw a young one the other day somewhere .It didn't look very old at all.
Gill I think you have had much better weather up your way than we have had here this last week. We have actually had lovely warm sunshine all morning but it is now clouding over and rain is forecast shortly. It has been nice just to sit outside for a little while.
H&G did go to the Three Counties Show yesterday. She rang just now to wish her Dad a Happy Fathers Day. She said it was a bit muddy in places but not too bad at all. I think they had an enjoyable day. They are going out now for a meal with Gareth's Mum and Dad and then will go back to London later this afternoon.
I hope AnnG is on the way now and has a lovely hol. (still not sure where she is going :-) )
I can see spots of rain on the window now. Thomas is in a hump in the summerhouse as we did his worm treatment just now. He is funny, as once it is done he just legs it out of the house.
Where is our Anne? It has been a really long time I think since we heard from her. Mel you must have plenty of things to put into the show. What categories are there?
James has been potting up Chinese Chives and Chillies.I dont know what Chinese Chives are.
Bit of lunch now and then I need to get my chefs head on and start sorting dinner for later.

Have a lovely meal out tonight Frank. I hope your aches and pains are easing a bit now.
We are not on a touring holiday as such. It’s a 2 centre holiday, a week in Vienna and a week at a lake resort. This is our fifth day here and we have spent 3 of them in our room. If there isn’t a big improvement tonight we will get the doctor tomorrow again. At the crack of dawn on Wednesday we are supposed to be getting a train from Vienna to Salzburg where a taxi will pick us up and take us to the airport to meet up with a coach which will take us the rest of the way to the lake. At the moment there is no way OH could walk down a platform and get on a train. He has just struggled going down in the lift to go to the bar for a snack and he had to rest in the lobby on the way.
He is making an effort to get moving by getting out of his chair and walking round the room every 15 minutes or so but he is not moving any better and the pain hasn’t lessened much. Thankfully we have a very nice room that’s quite spacious. It would be awful to be in this situation in a room like a broom cupboard.
Well, that’s enough misery from me. Tomorrow’s another day and might bring better news.

Jane, I think I was typing when you posted. OH doesn’t normally get sciatica, the problem is this muscle that’s locked up and compressed the nerve. The muscle relaxant tabs don’t seem to be doing anything much and he found the heat pads very uncomfortable.
We haven’t strangled each other yet, lol. I’ve been going out a couple of times a day for a bit of fresh air and a break but I can only walk around the locality. The rest of the time I read and he watches TV sport.
How is Fitz coping with the loss of his brother? I hope everything is sorted out now. It can be so difficult when someone dies a long way from home. My ex brother-in-law also died in Thailand. His daughter, with some difficulty, arranged for his body to be brought back to England for a post-mortem and then cremation. The Thai people didn’t embalm his body properly and then delayed things so by the time it got to a post-mortem the body was quite decomposed and the family never really found out how he died. It was quite distressing for them.
My posts are full of gloom lately aren’t they. I think I’d better go for a walk and cheer myself up a bit

Afternoon All,
Sunshine here at the moment so the washer is on!
Oh Vera how frustrating for you both. It does sound like you will be calling the doctor again. I suppose he needs you to do so much for him at the moment it's difficult for you to go far yourself. What a shame, but he may turn a corner soon and start to improve. A hot bath may help relax the muscle but he probably can't use it yet. I have also found playing a hot shower on the painful bit for a few minutes can help.
Oh Mel I loved it when I bought a new bridle for my little Welsh colt. I had to save up for it and they hadn't got a secondhand one to fit him so I had to get a new one. It was orange at first and smelt that lovely leather smell but it soon went dark in colour with cleaning with saddle soap. I'd only been able to afford a leather headcollar for him till then. I still have the cavalry saddle and a bridle and grooming kit. Have you kept any of yours? It sounds like you got on well with potting your plants.
Our combined villages show is in September but I need to get cracking if I want to enter anything. I haven't done any painting and not as much photography as usual. It will be in the new village hall that's just been built so it would be good if I could do something. Have you ideas of what you will be entering Mel?
Gill, I find it is the early hours sometimes when I'm doing my tree. Once the bit is between your teeth you just want to keep going! I hope you find lots more today.
We ate at home today with everywhere being so busy. Barnsley lamb chops with jerseys, cabbage, carrot, leeks and asparagus and our own mint. Fresh big, black cherries from the farm shop to follow.
I hope AnnG has a good journey. I have it in my head that she was going to the Lake District for some reason?
H & G were lucky it wasn't too squelchy at the show Jane. I see some turned away from the Download festival because of the state of the ground. The worst I saw was years ago when OH and I went to a Carriage Driving event at Penrith. OH and I wore thick soled trainers, but there were women in sandals and flip flops!!! The mud was so deep and slippy it was even hard for us to walk in our trainers. lol.
Poor Val Frank. She doesn't sound too good, but it will help cheer her up seeing Ros and the other Val. I wonder if Tony has been visiting her every day? I bet this damp weather has brought on your arthritis as you say. My left knee has been worse too. I hope you enjoy your meal tonight and that they remember to save some beef for you!
Mandy, the fairy/angel just needs one more wing and a neck ruffle, then I can sew her together! I expect there hasn't been a lot of chance to use your pool with the bad weather, but I think it should be drier and warmer the next few days.

Barnsley Chops :-D I never see them Ann. I know you have them quite often .I think I got them once at a farm shop somewhere. I'm sure you have something you can enter into a show. Can you maybe re enter something you entered at a different place? Or is it the same place?
Vera it sounds like it is going to be a long and difficult transfer to Zell am Zee!!. I feel like I am getting myself all worried for you. From what you say it does sound like you need to get the Doctor back again. I just feel so sorry you find yoursleves in this dreaful predicament .
I think Fitz is ok regarding his Brothers death. They have not been 'close' for many years .The cremation has taken place now and the ashes will be taken up to one of the Hill Villages to be put with his 'family'(that he had there) It is a very complicated thing to explain about his Brother . I wont even go there lol That must have been a dreadful time for the family of your ex BIL Vera. Thankfully Fitz does not have to go through that experience :-S
Ann I think you might be right about the Lake District for AnnG Tenerife I think is later .I just seem to have lost track with a lot of posts . I know it happens to all of us :-D

Evening all,
Not a bad day here we sat outside this afternoon watching the clouds whizzing across the sky .
Oh Vera still no improvement for your OH ,do you think a little manipulation might help to release the nerve ,the poor man must be really fed up now and carn't go on like this it's awful being away from home and feel like this ,i do hope the doctor can do some thing for him tomorrow ,i'll keep fingers crossed for him.
I think AnnG did say it was the Lake district they were going too this time ,i hope they have arrived safely .
Frank i hope they saved some beef back for you and you enjoy your meal. Poor Val doesn't sound to good perhaps Ros's visit will cheer her up ,she's in the best place and hopefully they can sort her out .
No Ann the pool hasn't been used yet the little ones carn't wait to get in there .
Jane i have no idea what Chinese Chives are either ,has James used them in cooking before ? I keep meaning to ask how things are with James and Jess now ,still moving on together or all over ?
We're going to give the car a good clean out tomorrow ,we were quite surprised it sailed through the MOT on Friday and didn't want a thing doing to it so that was good . We use to take it into Homebase car park were the men used to give it a good clean but they finished and now there's only the Tesco lot cleaning cars and the queues are so long to wait and have it done so we're doing it ourselves

Evening all. Yes full marks to those who remembered we are in the South Lake District not far from Barrow in Furness. It has been sunny but definitely and sadly not hot. Lanzarote in September Jane..
Vera so sorry there is no improvement, besides anything else it is quite a frightening situation for your OH and for you too wondering where things are going. I hope there will be improvement soon.
A bit chaotic here at the moment, daughter and her oh have just got home, they were out overnight so we let ourselves in, cleaned up the cats trays, picked up a dead mouse and put a chicken in the oven. Now they have taken over. I think.

Jane Chinerse chives are garlic chives. They are a perennial and make a nice show in a flower border. They will also frow in your raised trug thing you grow your herbs in. You can cut them down to about 2 and a hlf inches three times a year or if you want to use the white flowers twice a year. The flowers are more garlicy than the leaves.
The fox was the size of a smallish dog I would say about three or four months old.
