Mel at least they have an idea where the leak is, hope it is soon fixed.
Mandy muzzy heads are horrible definitely get your eyes tested hope there is a solution for you.
Annx glad I am not the only knicker border. Will eventually get some of mine to the clothes bank. Sounds as though it was a bug as you didn’t both go down with it at the same time as you would if it was something you had both eaten.
Jane sounds like it is going to take some patience recuperating from your op. Would you be able to have your hair washed at the hairdressers while you can’t balance over the bath.
Frank hope your veg garden is not too overgrown. Oh oh just found it funny about the number of pants.

Ann,I can have a shower after the stitches/staples come out as long as I feel confident enough and have someone at hand. It is the Bath I cant have for 3 months. As for hair washes I think it is going to be a bit of a game really .It might be I can sit on the perching stool and try and get my head far enough backwards over the bath and Chris will use the overhead shower .I can see it being fun and games and not in a good way LOL Chris will probably get quite exasperated !!! Shampoo twice and the n conditioner :-D :-D At least I can dry my hair myself :-D
No use having hair washed at the Hairdressers as there are 3 really big steps to go up to the sinks .We will cope :-D :-D
Off to bed now Night Night xx

Safe journey Vera and have a nice time whatever the weather.
They dug three holes in the front of the bungalow. One where we had the leak before and that was ok. then thye dug across to the bungalow wall and the pipe seemed to go behind the manhole cover of our sewage sytem which is between the bathroom drain and that but when they dug down there there seemed to be water seeping into the hole very slowly. They have decided rather than dig up the whole front of the bungalow, as the stop cack is in the kitchen cupboard, they would repipe the water straight into the bathroom and put us a stop cock in there as neither of us can really reach the one in the back of the cupboard. So they are back in the morning to drill a hole through the bathroom wall to lay the new pipe. They needed a T piece to do the connection which they had'nt got with them today so will pick one up im the morning before they come. These holes were about a good meter deep with horrid clay and big stones coming out. They put all the stuff out of the holes in big dumpy bages and stacked them in our porch. They have partly filled the holes in as they did'nt want any of my hogs to fall down them.
They moved my bag of sweet peas and it ripped right across and on the side.
When I came back from shopping I brought in two bags and one of the men brought in the other 7 all in one go!!
While we were talking to one man just before they left I asked where he came from and he told me Eat the Water in Bideford. I told him my aunt lived Eat the Water and he asked her name and I told him Joy and Phil Lane. O he said the Chippy. Phil was a carpenter but he died a few years ago but he must have know of him to say he was a Chippy. Then he got muddled up with someone else when he mentioned a daughters name of Clare. That was strange too because he mentioned our friends pub and it was their daughter. We used to ring with Joice and Claud who own the pub. Small world is'nt it?
Have any of you watched the program where four families live on an island off Anglesea in the 1900's. I founf it on last night and enjoyed it. There are 4 more programs of it on BBC so you know what I shall be watching in a min.
I am going to the funeral tomorrow with Em next door and her mum Val.
Not nice having those funny turns Mandy so its good you have an eye test soon or it may be inner ear trouble if you have an infection in an ear. Be carefull till you get tested. x
I grow those acidanthera bulbs and they smell out of this world but I don't think mine have flowered in June before now. I forgot to get them this year and they are a bit tender but I have never had to stake mine.

Good morning Mel, and all.
Dry morning here so far, but the forecast isn't good. The south and east are in for a right old down pour later. They think it's the wettest June on record and we aren't half way through the month. :-( :-(
Lets hope the water men get you sorted out today Mel. It's a good idea to have your stop cock where you can reach it more easily. Ours is at the back of a cupboard in the kitchen, like yours.
Jane, Could ou not get a local MOBILE HAIRDRESSER to call and do your hair as as when you need it. It would certainly be better than having Chris struggle to do it for you. If I remember rightly, when I had my knee done, I had to keep it dry until the took the stitches and staples out. Mot long now until your OP is it. ??
I again, have never been to Cardiff. We use to go to the Meni Straits to go Sea Fishing, but I am not sure exactly where that is near, as its over 40 years ago. Old age catching up. lol lol
I spoke to Simon this morning. The engineer made a right mess of the repair to the gear box on the Narrow Boat. The first time it was on the water, oil leaked from a seal that he had replaced. He had kinked it, when replacing it on a sharft. He said he Will pay for any parts, but no LABOUR. What a situation, when the summer is approaching, and they would want to get out at the weekends when they are not working.
I have asked Harvey to forward photo's of WINSTON, and as soon as I receive them I will forward them on, so tell SANDRA I haven't forgotten her, please Gill. xxx
Ros has a day out tomorrow with "Stitchery Do" they are going to a place called Mrs SEW AND SEW, in Hedley on Thames. The bus leaves at 9.00 am and should be back around 5/6.00 pm. So I must have dinner ready, as she is at CHOIR at 7.00 pm.
I have showered and shaved, and will get dressed properly today, instead of JOGGERS and T SHIRT. Will try to get back later. Take care and have a good day. xxxx

Morning All,
Dry but dull so at least that's an improvement. OH has gone to a training session at Beaumanor Hall near Loughborough and we both felt much better this morning and more like it. I think it may still be what we ate AnnG as he was the same after the previous Sunday, then seemed ok after a day or two then it happened again after last Sunday's meal. I was ok the previous week. The reason he was affected first could be that his system has always been like an express highway compared with mine. I'm sure that's why he can eat a lot more without putting much weight on!! It doesn't get chance!!
I can't believe it but I've just answered the same automated foreign speaking scam call for the 5th time in the last couple of hours!
That sounds good if they are redirecting the water pipe Mel. It will be much easier for you both to reach the stop cock and save more digging and holes to fill. I need that chap to carry my shopping in too.........it saved you some tooing and froing didn't it. Fancy him knowing those people too. It is a small world at times. I haven't seen that prog on the Anglesey families, but would like it I think as I loved Anglesey. Do you know what it is called?
AnnG I would have liked the museum and art gallery too. It is a few years since I went to Cardiff, but I liked the spacious modern shopping area.
Jane why not have a practice run now with Chris doing your hair like you suggest. I wash my hair every day so it would be a right game as you say. OH was useless directing the shower spray when he had his eyes done last year and was spraying the whole bathroom the first few times! I told him it was simples......keep the spray facing towards the wall and move your body, not the other way round, but I'm sure he is missing the 'common sense' gene sometimes.
I hope Mandy is feeling less fuzzy today and can get an eye test booked soon.

Just popped down the garden, I wished I hadn't. Everywhere is overgrown, I have potatoes 3 foot high and I didn't plants any. I can just see the carrots through the weeds. I have fed and watered the Tomato's, and left the rest for another day. There is no way I can tackle that job at the moment. It might well be I will ring Barry to come and weed everywhere.
Glad you have your pipe in Mel, now get the paint out. lol
Love to Mandy, and hope she is feeling a bit better today.
The landlady of the local who left, has gone to another local eatery. I just looked at her prices and Menu. I thought I might take Ros there later today. NO CHANCE. The prices are way to expensive. Steaks start at £20.00. and F & C £9.95. I doubt she will be seeing me in there.
Some kind person has aloud their dog to SHIT in the middle of the drive, which I have just had to go and clear up. Oh how I would love to catch them. :-| :-|

Afternoon all
It's been pouring down all night and most of today so everywhere is soaking wet. The plants are loving it and it saves us watering them, but we have large puddles everywhere and of course the water has come in again in the corner of the window sill, soaking the wallpaper. I can't fix that problem until the rain stops and it's dried out. It looks like I will have to re-wallpaper there now.
I'm off to mum's next week to wallpaper her place, the only problem is she has lots of large furniture in her living room so I'm not sure how much room I'm going to have to to do the job and her place is to small to move the furniture out, apart from a few small tables which don't really make any difference anyway. I'll have to see what I can do when I get there.
Sandra said thank you for offering to send some photo's of Winston Frank, she's looking forward to it. Good idea to get Barry in to tackle all the overgrown weeds and sort out your veg patch. That wasn't very nice of the dog owner to let the dog fowl your drive, some owner are very irresponsible aren't they? Sorry to hear the engineer has made a bad job of Simon's Narrow Boat, I don't blame him for only paying for the parts and not the labour. I hope he can get the problems sorted soon.
I've just taken a look at the Corn lily you mentioned Mel and I think it might be the bulbs I bought that I don't know the name of. The poor flowers have taken such a battering from all the rain we've had lately, I hope they perk up again as they are drooping down on the ground at the moment and don't look their best. I see you are finally having your water pipes sorted. Hope it doesn't take to long.
How annoying Ann, to have the same phone scam so many times, could you find a way to block the number? Thanks for letting me know about Acidanthera's. I do have those, but the ones that are drooping in the rain are more like the one's Mel mentioned. I have noticed that the Salvia (Hot Lips) I took cuttings off last year, then planted in the front garden, are all in flower now, they look lovely and are growing really well . The other's I left in pots aren't doing as well, so I might plant those in the front where we took the two Euphorbia's out the other day. In time the Salvia's will fill the spaces and look pretty. I like these type of Salvia's as they change colour depending on the temperature. So they can be all red, all white, or white with red tips that look like lips, hence the name Hot Lips. I bought one plant years ago and now have around 10 of them, all from cuttings. I'm looking forward to see your Angel/Fairy, it sounds very pretty, pleased to see you're getting on well with it now. I bet you can't wait to make a start on the patterns your friend sent you.
I hope you are feeling a little better today Mandy, maybe it is your eyes and you just need some new glasses. I hope it's nothing serious and is sorted soon.
It sounds like you're going to have fun trying to wash and clean your hair Jane. I was wondering about OH and how he was going to wash as we don't have a shower, just a bath. We do have a shower attachment on the taps but no shower rail or curtain. He's going to ask at his next appointment on Tuesday how long he needs to wait before he can have a bath again, as he's having staples put in. I think he'll just have to stand in the bath and use the shower head as best he can while trying to keep his stomach dry. Luckily he doesn't have a lot of hair anymore, so that should be easy for me to help him with.

sorry, haven't had time to come on here before now and now too tired to write a long reply. Had to clean downstairs as we have the gardening group from U3A here tomorrow afternoon and will be out all morning as I have a chiropodist appointment. OH went to golf as he had agreed to play in a team competition so I was on my own doing it. Also did two loads of washing and dried it all in the tumble drier so he is now ironing having hoovered the floor for me. Anyway it is all clean and tidy now.
Annx I am sure you would have liked the sculptures on display the sculptures in wood by David Nash were fascinating, very clever. (you can google him as he has a large special exhibition at the N Museum of Wales so we were lucky to see that.
I am sure you are probably right about it being food that upset you both. The trouble with that is you don't know exactly what so can't avoid it in future.
Gill, a day of sun and the plants hopefully will all pop up again. So far today it has been dry here.
Mel so is that the leak fixed or only partly done so far?
Mandy hope you are feelomg better. That muzzy head is something my sister gets when she reacts to any medication. She has a very low tolerance.
Just sent off on line to renew my driving licence so that was another job done.

Hi all I’ve just been reading all your posts and have just about caught up. It’s interesting hearing what you are all doing but I won’t comment on them all or I’ll be here forever.
Well here we are in Vienna. It is sunny and warm with a slight breeze. We haven’t had a good start to the holiday. Yesterday morning Bob went to turn off the water heating while we are away and found an expansion tank that British Gas fitted a couple of years ago was hanging off the wall. It couldn’t be left so while I was packing, he was building scaffolding round this tank to keep it in place.
We had a good drive to Gatwick and a nice meal and went to bed about 10. OH was clearly in pain with his back/hip/leg and found it hard to sleep. I couldn’t sleep either and at 1.30 I gave up and read for an hour. Eventually I dozed off and got an hour’s sleep before the alarm went off at 4 am.
On the plane we hit some bad turbulence which was very unpleasant, but landed at Vienna only 10 minutes late. A taxi was waiting and brought us and another couple to the hotel at about 11.30. Check in not till 3 but the other couple’s room was ready. Not ours. Other people came in and their rooms were ready but ours still wasn’t so we left our luggage and went to explore. However OH was limping along at snail’s pace and in pain so we found a cafe, had lunch and came back to the hotel. Our room was about the last one ready so we had to wait in the lounge area till 3. I’ve unpacked while OH is watching motor racing.
I am not sure what we will be doing. We usually pick out the attractions we want to visit, bus or walk to them and spend all day on our feet but if OH doesn’t improve fairly quickly I think we’ll be spending all our time sitting in cafes and not seeing much of the country at all. It could turn out to be a very expensive non-holiday
I must admit I am concerned about my dearly beloved. A month ago he was walking 4.5 miles in just on an hour every day. Now he’s struggling to limp a few yards. He has an appointment at the physiotherapy centre on 5 July so I hope they can sort him out or send him on to someone who can.
Now you are thinking what a miserable old ***** I am. I think I needed to let off steam so thanks for listening. I am overtired and I am sure things will look brighter after a night’s sleep.
Have a good evening everyone.

Afternoon All
Lots of posts for me to read through properly .I have just skipped through them for now .Mel it sounds like things have been sorted now wit hthe new bit of pipe and a stopcock that you can get to. Why are stopcocks often in quite inaccessible places :-S
Frank I would put a note on your gate post to warn anyone who might think of allowing their dog to poop on your drive. Someone did that a few doors along from here and he had no more poo :-) Yes getting Barry in to get rid of all those weeds sounds the best idea.
I'm glad OH's tummy has settled now .It really does sound like it id food related doesn't it. I think a dummy run with Chris washing my hair is a really good idea. It is going to be a fiasco I just know it :-D. But he should only need to wash my hair a few times before I can get in the shower and do it myself. The other practice thing I think I need ot do is getting in and out of the car. I have the instructions .That will be another difficult job.
Gill I was told the reason not to have a shower before stitches /staples are out it because of water running down into the wound and possibly causing an infection .
It is tipping it down here now.It has been dry all day up until now.
Poor Fitz has had a right old do regarding the death of his Brother. The hospital would not release the body to 'the family' out there as they are not next of kin. He was ringing our doorbell at 6.30 this morning to get Chris to take pics of his Passport /Driving licence for him to forward to the Foreign Commonwealth office . All other problems too. But I think the body has now been released for cremation . It has been a right palavar and Fitz is totally mentally rung out at the moment. He was up all night on the phone to various people in Thailand (8 hour difference)
I have made a HUGE chicken casserole today which is now cooling off,so that will be divided into a few zip plastic bags to go in the freezer.
Ann that is unusual to get so many calls like that from scammers .You must have been on redial LOL What a blooming nuisance :-S We had our yearly service today on the burglar alarm. All fine . But the chap who came was definitely lacking personality :-S
I hope the funeral went off ok today Mel and hopefully it wasnt pouring with rain.
Mandy how are you today? No more fuzzy muzzyness ?

Gill you could always wrap oh up in cling film so he could have a wash down in the bath and a rinse with the shower head.
Yes Jane all finished now but oh forgot to ask the boys to take a meter reading for us. the water board are going to take a reading a week after the job is done.
The funeral was lovely and Quinton read out a long tribute which was both funny in a lot of parts and sad in others but he did very well and only had a few short stops during it. It was about 5 pages long and I would have loved oh to have heard it so I had a word with the eldest daughter and she is going to try and get it on our local funeral directors tribute site so we can all read it. We know the local funeral director as we used to ring with him. His daughter works for the firm too our young Katie is pregnant expecting in September the 10th. I thought it was nice that when they went for her first scan they decided they did'nt want to know what sex the baby is. As it happened it was'nt in a postion to tell anyway. She told me that 70% of people now want to know what sex their babies are. Of course scanning on ly came in in 1979 so I was ten years too early to have one.
I am still full from the eats afterwards and oh had a very large CORNISH PASTY for lunch so I may do something quick and save the lamb chops till tomorrow.
Vera what a to do with you waiting all that time for your room to be ready after a not very nice flight too. Poor oh suffering as it sounds lust like my oh at the mo hip/ back/ and leg. I hope he feels better soon and you can enjoy going to some nice places instead of cafe for coffee and a sit down. Its so nice to hear from you lots while you are away as we miss your posts if you can't post.
I wonder how our Mandy is today? I do hope she's feeling a bit better or has been to the docs or had an eye test.
I am feeling very cold around my back today. It happened last night too so I think its time to put a sleeveless fleece on, IN JUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll give it Flaming June.

Evening all,
Heads a lot better thanks but i will get an eye test sorted when i go to town on Friday. The morning started off fine and dry but as soon as i hung some washing out down it came and it's been raining ever since .
Oh dear Vera i hope your OH;s pain eases so you can do a little site seeing .
Jane to help you get in the car you need a plastic carrier bag on the seat to sit on, it will help you to turn on the seat easily and use the dog lead to lift your leg in . Colin couldn't shower until he had the dressing off as they want it to dry and heal .
Snap Frank we had some dog left it's calling card right near our gate this morning i hosed it away .
Ann those phone calls are a blooming nuisance ,that's a lot to get in an hour i hope you told them where to go !!! :-D
Glad your leak is sorted now Mel and it sounds as if it was a lovely funeral with a nice tribute for the gentleman .
Oh no Gill that's not good getting more water in ,you'll have to pray for some dry weather so you can get it sealed up again and dried and then you can get some more wall paper on..
Hope the weather is better tomorrow AnnG so your gardening group can be in the garden ,you have a lovely garden the hand rail looks a treat and i'm sure will be well used tomorrow by the group in the garden .

Well OH was ok till he had a jacket potato for lunch, but just as he was getting things ready for his meeting tonight he was back to square one again!! He daren't risk going so had to arrange for someone to go in his place. :-( At least he feels ok in himself apart from his face feeling a bit hot. Mind you we have had the heating on as it's been so cold and I wore my fleece to go to the shop.
The local paper had pictures of the trees that had come down in the county on Monday night and blocked the roads.
Jane I think they must have had us on redial as you say. You can't even tell them to get lost when they are auto dial ones. :-( Poor Fitz must have been in a right tiswas to have been ringing your bell at 6.30am and being up all night. What a mess to try and sort out though with his brother being in another country. Good idea to make a start on some meals for the freezer. It sounds like I will have to keep my knee dry as well when they get round to doing it. I was showering the second day after my hysterectomy but I expect infection in a joint could be more serious.
Thanks for that Mel, I've made a note and will see if I can find it to record. The funeral sounded lovely and it was a good idea to ask about the tribute and a lovely thing to have on the site for people to read about him.
Oh what a disappointment all that hanging around waiting for your room Vera. Your poor hubby too! We had a limpy holiday last year with my knees, but at least we had the car and were in this country. Maybe you could get a taxi to take you to at least view the main sights you want to see? If you were as keen on horses as me a trip to the Spanish Riding School in Vienna would be a must and you could sit down there!! lol Hopefully he will improve in a day or two and be able to get around more. Perhaps the sitting with the travel has made him stiff. I know it does me.

Morning all,
Raining here today and when I looked out of the bedroom window this morning when I got up there was the smallest baby bunny I have seen for a long while. I think the two over the back field must have been the parents. So they are increasing quickly. There are also a couple in the orchard we see on a regular basis and some have been up my border too.
Ann I think you may have to see the program on Iplayer as I think its finished now. I was lucky to see it advertised in the tv paper.
We were greeted this morning outside the back door by a big May Bug who is sleeping there.
Yesterday while I was in my shed inthe norning and the workmen were here a Heron landed on th lawn by my pond. We saw it several time so oh and I put the ties back on my pond netting to keep it out. When I got back from the funeral I went out to the shed to get the net for the strawberry barrow and it came down and landed very ungraciously on the fence. Waved my arms and it flew away. They are so big when you are close to them.
Mandy I am glad your feeling a bit better today and not long till Friday to book an eye test.
Poor G Ann do you think you ought to get him to go to the docs as this is quite a few days now. I hope he feels better soon as it pulls you down so and you lose all your energy. You better get some immodium in and some hydrating drinks. They do some now that are blackcurrant flavour.
I heard from our William this morning asking me about a plant that has come up between his front hedge. Its a pretty pink Lavatera and he said his chap who helps with the garden did'nt know what it was. William hopes it will stay. Poor Carmel is'nt too good and is taking a lot of looking after and neither of them are young so it gets harder as you get older. He seemed in good spirits though and said he would try to get time to visit the thread sometime soon.
Well a nice quiet morning here without the workmen and lets hope this repair works. They are coming to read the meter a week after its been done so I expect to hear from the waterboard after that.
Nothing more to report this mroning so see you all later.
