I didn't make a cake in the end but i did make some Mincemeat Puffs and Apricot Jam Puffs , i had the ready made Puff Pastry in the fridge so it was cheating a bit but we had one of the Jam Puffs with some cream for a pud ,naughty but nice :-D
Gill i hope you got the name of the skip firm from the lorry that damaged your fence just in case the builder is awkward and wont tell you the name of the firm if it's not his lorry ,so a couple of weeks and it should all be done and you'll have the new neighbours in .
AnnG i never noticed any snow here this morning just a little sleet that lasted all of two minutes . I buy biscuits ,but only for the grandchildren ;-) ;-) :-D
I think a nice stew would go down a treat Frank ,or maybe a Chilli con Carne would warm people up :-D
I meant to say Colin spotted the Squirrel in the tree this morning ,we really thought he had gone as we haven't seen him for weeks .

Morning all
Dull and cold today so it's a day indoors for us. Usual Gladiators and 60 minute makeover's that Sandra likes to watch. I did spot a programme about growing your own fruit and veg so I've recorded it early this morning, I'll enjoy watching that later. I hope it's not as cold as today tomorrow or we'll be freezing when we're weeding the garden, while they make a start on the new drive. I don't think our fence will take much more battering, so we're keeping an eye on them this time.
OH is looking forward to being able to wash the car and our windows on the bungalow, they are so dirty, but like OH said there's no point in doing it until all the work is finished next door.
The silly new neighbour was telling us that he fell in the loft and put his foot through the new ceiling in the living room, so the plasterer was there yesterday fixing it. He's got lots of cuts and scratches on his bald head now. He was telling me that he is 65 next week, I thought he was only in his late 50's, no wonder he's had to get in the workmen rather than doing the work himself. Apparently he's an ex electrician and was in the loft sorting out some wiring when he lost his balance and grabbed the old water tank, the tank was loose so he fell backwards and stepped off the joist and put his foot through the ceiling. He was telling us that there is a lot of condensation in his loft. We think it's from the boiler he had put up there and the plastic that was put on the roof underneath the roof tiles. The loft must be warm the the plastic cold which is resulting in his condensation, that's a problem he's now going to have forever.
The boss told him to do his own snagging list, we haven't seen the boss around for weeks so whether the snagging will be done is anyone's guess. The insurance aren't doing the kitchen, they tried cleaning it but it didn't work so now they'll only pay for someone else to do it, guess who that'll be?......yes, the Bodgit and Scarper company.
OH got the phone number for the builders across the road, they have made a really good job on the work over there knocking two rooms into one and sorting out the ceiling levels, he said it looks really good and we know the builders were there every day and didn't cause the fuss the ones next door have, so if ever we need a builder we'll be ringing them. He said he met the boss and he seemed really nice.
So that's the update for now. It still seems strange not seeing a skip next door but we'll be glad when everything's finished. Apparently the gardener is coming once the drive is done then hopefully everything outside will be finished and look much better.
I haven't caught up with the post yet, so hope everyone is okay and slept well last night. I'll catch up with them later as Sandra is waiting to watch her programmes and OH and I want to watch the F1 race this afternoon, so I want to make sure lunch is out of the way by then.

Moring Gill and all,
Much the same weatherwise here today I think as we have dark grey skies and still that rotton wind which is sooooooooo cold.
Gill you will be glad when everything is finally finished next door. Its bound to feel funny without the skip there as its been there a long time now. It sounds like they are nearly there now with the rest of the building and cleaning up and you will have your new neighbours in there.
We are looking forward to the race today too. Oh watched the qualifyers yesterday. Bottas did well did'nt he.

Yes, Bottas is doing really well so far this year Mel, I'm secretly hoping he wins the championship even though I normally support Hamilton, I think it would be nice to see someone else win for a change.
Did you find anything interesting about the coin and other bits and bobs Chris found Jane? How exciting. If they're worth millions don't forget us poorer people LOL ;-) ;-)
That's a nice idea Frank offering to make a stew, it'll be nice to have something hot to eat as like you said it's very cold at the moment. I'm sure it'll be really appreciated.
We had problems with squirrels Mandy, they ate some of my bulbs so now I don't have as many as I'd hoped. I expect the squirrel causes bother at yours to. We're quite lucky as we haven't seen any in our garden for a while. I put Vaseline on our bird feeder and the squirrels kept slipping off so I suppose if there's no food around they'll go somewhere else. I have seen them chasing each other around in the tall trees over the back and sometimes they jump onto our back fence and run along it into next door, but apart from that nothing. I must admit I do miss Rosie, we still don't know what happened to her, we haven't seen her for almost 2 years, so I doubt she'll come back now. :-( :-(
I was thinking of asking for help with the marriage AnnG but I don't know how to start up a thread. If you don't mind me asking could you PM me to show me what to do? I hope you don't mind me asking for your help?
Sandra got distracted with something so isn't quite ready to watch her programmes yet, so I'm just waiting for her. She's in the kitchen now so I think she's getting herself a drink of juice. She doesn't like tea or coffee.

Good morning all, My you have been busy since I posted yesterday. I have tried to remember what has been said, and hope I can remember to comment in some sort of way.
I did walk to the pub yesterday. I wish I had put my overcoat on, as I was FROZEN by the time I got there. They were late opening, and there was no heat in the lounge. So all in all not very pleasant .
Thats for your remarks regarding my sister. It has been on my mind most of the time. She is my last sister, and I really don't want to be the last surviving member of the family :-( :-( :-( :-(
What a to do with the computer Vera. They must have worked very hard to get you sorted. I just hope that is the end of it for you.
Jane, you and Fitz sound like the terrible twins. What one does, the other has to follow. lol lol. What a fined for Chris. I bet both the coin and the watch will be worth something, because of their age and the watch makers name. What will he do with them. ?? I will have words with Ros about the Mammogram, as I don't remember mentioning anything recently.
Mandy, Most of the CHEFS on T.V. use shop bought pastry. so don't beat yourself up about using it. I know the first Christmas that I was with Ros, I made the pastry for all the mince pies and sausage rolls, she and her Mum were very impressed. ;-) ;-) ;-) But I don't think I have done it since, thats over FORTY YEARS AGO. !!!!
So you are getting WHOLE EGGS now Mel, how nice, not to have to clear broken eggs, from the nest box.
The only time I have been to Cheltenham, was for the GOLD CUP many years ago when I worked in a Vauxhall dealership, I won a prize for a two night stay, and hospitality at the race. Most enjoyable, even though I am not a racing fan.
Gill, I would think you will be glad to see the back of these "COWBOYS" Not someone you would want doing work for you, or to recommend to anyone else. :-| :-|
Ros has filled in the repeat prescriptions and taken them up to the surgery. We will be able to pick them up Tuesday/Wednesday.
I am going to ask the Drs for a telephone call tomorrow, to see if I can either stop having this Testosterone Injection, or have it in some other form. As I am still in discomfort from the injection from last Thursday. I just don't need this. !!!
The birds are have a HAY DAY knocking the moss of the roof, to get at the grubs etc that are underneath. It's all over the front steps and path.
Going out the back garden now, to see if I can help Madam. If not, I will read the paper. See you soon. xxxxx

Its trying to rain here at the momemnt and is still very grey outside and we still have that icy wind.
Stay warm Frank after yesterdays chilly stay at the club. Oh prefers my homemade pastry but I just can't be bothered to make it sometimes and always have a shortcrust and puff in the freezer for quickness. We only have a top on a pie so its just enough with a bit over for some pastry cases for little flans or jam tarts.

A grey chilly day today doesn't encourage me to get out in the garden. :-( :-(

Afternoon All,
Cold and dull here today. OH went out and did some weeding but not for long as it was too cold. We then got the new clock put up which was a bit of a game as OH put far too big a screw in the wall that only just fit through the hole in the back of the clock. We were jiggling it around for ages trying to line up the screw to go through the hole in the back! I have steam mopped the kitchen and uti and hoovered the porch so that's my quota done for the day. OH managed to paddle across to go out to the garage before the kitchen floor was dry and left slipper sole prints all over it! Then as soon as I'd mopped the bathroom he needed the loo and asked what he should do. 'Go in your socks' I said thinking that they would leave no marks on the wet floor. 'I'd sooner go in the toilet' he said.
We didn't go out for lunch as they have taken lamb off the carvery we go to and swapped the nice topside of beef that OH loves for brisket which isn't as nice and have put belly pork on instead of the nice loin of pork they used to do. We may go in the week and OH will have the turkey like me. As OH says, if they are doing cheaper cuts, we'll have it in the week when it's cheaper to pay for than on Sundays as well. :-)
Little Fleur next door was having a little growl/grumble when we went near the fence this morning but no barks so that was good. OH said when he came home yesterday, he saw her trot past our driveway and turn up the drive where she lives just ahead of the neighbour and she was carrying the end of her lead in her mouth.
What a great little dog you have made for Lewis Mandy. I love the way the ears hang and the patch over it's eye!
Well, the big motorhome at the diagonally opposite bungalow has gone now. We didn't mind it at all as the drive goes downhill and it was down the side of the bungalow and the fence and bungalow hid it. The neighbour told OH that he'd sold it and that they were giving the proceeds as a house deposit to their son who's wife and young daughter live in Thailand at the moment.
Admin time now while OH is watching footie.

Afternoon All
Maybe the little dog will be called Spot of Patch Mandy :-D. I can see that being a favourite toy :-D. Mel I never ever make my own pastry now.I was never great at it anyway.I have hot hands which I have heard is not the best for pastry making.(Any excuse ;-)). I think the bought fresh pastry is good enough for us.I think I use Filo pastry more than anything else. I think even some top chefs use bought stuff sometimes .So if it is good enough for them then its good enough for me :-D :-D
An,I think it is a shame if the place is using cheaper meats especially on a Sunday. They may well lose custom there. Fancy Lamb being off the menu too with it being so close ot Easter. Little Fleur must have looked cute with the lead in. I love to see dogs doing that. They always seem to look very proud of themselves :-D :-D Oh dear slipper marks on your nicely cleaned floor. Not good . My floors are needing a real good clean. The jitchen floor is feeling a bit sticky in places so I think someone must have spilt something.
AnnG that was lucky you went to day and got 20% off at Dobbies :-D. Vouchers are great .But I am often guilty of hanging on to them for too long and then finding them out of date :-S
I don't know if there is a different way of you having your testosterone Frank,But it is certainly well worth asking.
Gill, it must only be a matter of weeks now before next door is all done. I am sure there will be a lot more dust for you though when the drive is dug up and redone. But you will soon be able to get your house all dust free again :-D.
My house is smelling so good right now .Roast Beef :-DI have done the roast potaotes and they are so crispy. Someone here (I think Mandy) cooks the roasties and then reheats them. I have never done that .Are they as good when reheated? I might try it. It felt so cold earlier today I lit the fire. But I dont think I shall be putting any more logs on now as I am down to a sleeveless top.
Thomas has slept all day and looks half baked. He has just stirred and gone out. I think he must have been dining out again.

Ann that is good of your neighbours giving t he proceeds of the sale of the Motorhome to the Son for a house deposit. Maybe his wife and little girl will come back from Thailand once a house has been bought. Maybe they are desperate to have their house back to themselves again :-D :-D
Chris has just put more logs on the fire !!!!!!! It feels like a sauna :-S .There is no breeze at all now ,it seeems to have suddenly become really calm.
I must tell you about my dreams last night.Oh my goodness .I seemed to have 3 seperate ones. One was someone trying to break into out house. He had a long pole and was tryinh to break one of the upstairs windows. The next was a Police Helicopter that landed in our back garden and a young lad was arrested and put in the helicopter and given a bag of crisps .Then the 3rd one was Hannah had suddenly turned up after having a major fall out with Gareth. He was ringing to see if she was here and Hannah made me promise not to say she was. I was quite exhausted when I woke up this morning LOL

Ann I had a mental pic of G peeing in his socks when I read your post!! You should have sent him in the garden. That is typicle though, I lways ask oh if he needs the loo if I am doing the floor in the bathroom. Its the only room with a hard floor I can wash.
I also pictured little Fleur's owner coming up the drive with the lead in her mouth. :-D
AnninG now you can pot away to your hearts delight now you have your grow bags and compost. Wait till its a bit warmer though. The wind has been really freezing all day here again. Oh tells me we have this wind for the next 9 days.

I've replied to your PM Mel.
I've been trying my best to do a bit of OH's tree today but so far haven't been able to add people to it because I'm stuck on the first bit. I can't find a marriage so don't know if the son I've found for this couple is the right birth record. The one I've found gave me his mum's maiden name so I've been using that to try and find the marriage. Now I'm wondering if I've got the wrong birth record for their son so the mum's maiden name is wrong to, it would explain why I can't seem to find the marriage for his parents. I've found everything from him down with the exception of another marriage as it says two different middle names for the person so I don't know if it's two different people or the same one, there's only one man on the record which doesn't help either, so I thought I'd have a break and come and read the posts.
Sorry to hear you're still in pain from the injection, good idea to have a word with the doctor Frank, there maybe another way instead. It's worth a chat with him. I hope things improve for your sister soon. No I won't be recommending those cowboys next door to anyone, they are useless and we're dreading the drive being done tomorrow. OH has managed to sort out the fence from when the skip hit it the other day, luckily it just pulled the screws out from the concrete post so he's screwed them back in and thankfully the fence is straight again, there's a mark on the other side but we can't see it so we're not bothered about that.
That was lucky choosing today to go to Dobbies with them having the 20% off AnnG pity about the cold weather though, it's freezing here to so you're not on your own.
Little Fleur sounded so cute trotting down her driveway with her lead in her mouth. Nice to hear she didn't bark when you went past the fence Ann. I'd sooner go in the toilet, lol your OH is so funny isn't he. Not so funny having footprints on your clean floor though. What a lovely thing your neighbour did giving the proceeds of the Motohome to their son for a house deposit.
I'm not surprised you were exhausted this morning after those three dreams you had Jane, lets hope you have a more peaceful night tonight.
Love the photo of the dog you made Mandy, you are so clever. Is Lewis going to call him Patch? That would be a fitting name for him.

Morning all
Dull, windy and very cold. It's a year today since OH's brother passed away, I can't believe how quickly it's gone by.
The workmen turned up at 7.30am this morning and woke me up with all their noise. Luckily OH was already up so he's outside keeping an eye on them while they use the digger, we're not taking any chances this time.
Kevin the new neighbour was there and told OH that the boss won't take any of his calls and said that Kevin has to pay for the new drive as it wasn't in the price. The boss told us the drive was being done when we saw him at the beginning of the build, so it looks like he's just walked out and Kevin said the boss isn't coming back. There is still lots of little jobs to do so I assume Kevin will have to pay for those as well as his new drive.
Thanks Mel for all your help with my tree yesterday, I'm going to start adding them to my tree now. I've just replied to your PM.

Good morning to you all,..
I have been on line to see what this TESTOSTERONE does for my body. Tp be honest at 80 year old I DO NOT NEED more SEX DRIVE and all that goes with it. So I will be cancelling my injections with immediate effect.
I have cancelled our meal on on Sunday, because Jan has invited us down to Devon. We will go on Thursday morning, hoping to miss the holiday traffic, and come back Tuesday for the same reason. We will have to cancel the St.GERGES NIGHT also, as I doubt we will be wanting to go out for the evening after a four/five hour drive home. I can still offer to make a dish for the evening, IF they have room to freeze it. I would make it this week.
My word it was cold yesterday, like a silly fool, I offered to water the baskets, pots, front garden and patio.I then watered the seeds and bottom beds. Even though I had a pair of gloves on my fingers were frozen. I was so glad to get back inside, into a HOT KITCHEN to cook dinner. We have enough ROASTS for tonight, so they can be warmed up, while the veg are cooking.
Eye clinic this afternoon, MUST remember to take my glass's. I always forget, as I don't seen them on all the time. I must also see about another eye test, as my long sight, seems to be getting blurred.
Ros is out tomorrow night with the MOTHERS CLUB. They have a booking at one of the local restaurants. Don't know what time or how many, so I will sort myself out regarding eating.
Conrad's little dog is still settling in, and getting much better at house training. Now asking when she wants to go out.
I agree, these CARVERIES charge enough for Sunday lunches, so they shouldn't SKIMP on quality of meats, and have the cheaper cuts. I think this is why we tend to go to A PROPER RESTAURANT. They might be a little dearer. but in the main the food is superior, and not SELF SERVICE. and of course if you have reason to complain, it gets sorted without half the restaurant knowing about it. !!!!
Thinking of getting the mower out, but why bother going out in the cold, when I can ring Barry and for a tenner he can do them. ;-) ;-) ;-)
So I think it will be shower and shave, get dressed and read. MAKES MORE SENSE LOL LOL Speak later. xxxx

Morning all,
It very windy here today and we had a few spots of rain last night but its a bit brighter today even though the sky is grey.
Frank I don't think you should cancel your injections. They don't just do the sex drive. Because you missed one could be why you had those funny turns in the night and also why you lose your temper with things. Its all to do with being male.
Why don't you ask if you can have patches for it? The injections are supposed to give you more energy.
I think we have just had a hurricane, it blew like stink and all the things on the patio went flying. Better go and asses the damage.
Gill I will look a bit later on for you.

I agree with Mel Frank you should keep up with it even if it's done in a different way to injections, have a word with your doctor and see what he/she says.
Hope there isn't to much damage Mel and the wind dies down soon for you.
Well, I've just been out and took a look at the fence and they have really broken it this time, the end bit of wood is broken in two, they said they will replace it but it's flapping around in the wind so it could completely come off. I've got a banging headache with all the noise, they're now digging around our fence at the back even though we've told them to be careful, so no doubt that'll come loose next and it's the fence with all the screening on that took us ages to do with the water feature right by it. I'm so stressed at the moment.
If it wasn't for Mel helping me with my family tree I think I'd be more stressed, doing the tree is helping to take my mind off the workmen. Thanks again Mel, you are a star <3 <3
