Afternoon Mel, Mandy and all

Dry here today and quite warm, so OH is cutting the lawns as they badly need doing. It's cloudy here to Mel with no wind.

OH and I were in the garden all day yesterday and silly me over done things and ended up sick and dizzy, I had to go to bed in the end which seems to have helped. We took the conifer tree out of the front garden and put that back in a pot around the back, we replaced it with one of the Red Robins which isn't doing to well, in the hope it'll grows better in the ground in the front where it has more sun. Then we cleared away all the leaves and moved a few pots around by the water feature where we took the Red Robin away from, When we looked at it this morning we didn't like the way we did it so we've just moved a few plants around and now it's looks much better.

The snowdrops arrived yesterday Frank so they're all planted now, thank you. I see Green Thumb have done your spring treatment, that'll help your lawns. You'd think the fella at the bottom of your garden would have more things to worry about than a tree. Hope you had a better nights sleep last night.

Pleased to see Ruby is on the mend now Mandy. Oh I see why everything needs locking up now and why your son has so many keys, that must take him a while to do though. You were quick with the unicorn doll, what type of dog are you doing? I'd love to see a pic when it's finished.

The cats at your beading class sound real characters Ann, I think all cats are nosy especially where handbags are concerned. I did smile when Mandy said you might end up taking one home with you if your handbag is big enough for it to get into. LOL.

We've had lots of pigeons hitting our living room window over the 11 years we've lived here Jane and yes, normally they are just stunned for a while they fly off, this one though broken it's neck, it was awful to watch knowing there was nothing we could do to help. I'm just glad it didn't suffer as it was very quick. Sandra knows nothing of it, I'm glad she was still in bed at the time or it would of really upset her to see it. You'd think your neighbours would have the oil leak fixed if it's that much of a problem, it can't be doing the vehicle any good. I remember us having to use a metal tray when we had a leak, the reason we had one is because the garage put to much in, it soon sorted itself out in the end though. Enjoy your time with Janice today, I hope she has a lovely birthday, it'll be a nice surprise when you turn up, with her not expecting it.

That was a nice surprise your OH planned for a meal Vera, I find if you don't feel like going out they end up being the best nights out.

It sounds like you've been very busy lately Gwyn, are you a teacher or just help out with the children? I used to be a teachers assistance, but it was voluntary so only a few days here and there, I really enjoyed it though. What a shame the bus route was changed it sounded ideal catching the same bus home once it had been to the bus station. I suppose if there's no rush now, you can have lots of cuddles off Rabbit. :-) which must be nice.

Sorry to hear about the Robin's nest Mel, will they abandon that one and build another one somewhere else, or don't they do that? That's a good idea to do baking with all those eggs Em has off you, I bet the cakes taste lovely. My OH is the same when it comes to cakes, he prefers them plain with no decoration. I'd love to decorate a cake every now and then as I was trained to do that many years ago and used to take in cake orders for novelty cakes and celebration ones to, I really enjoyed it. Maybe I'll do one for Sandra and I and make a separate plain one for OH one day.

It sounds like you had a lovely time with your daughter and her OH AnnG, that was a lot of walking, I'm not surprised you were a bit achy. It's nice to have a catch up though.

The sun came out for a while but the wind is also p and still cold. The air feels really damp this morning.

Just about to start the big breakfast, our one a week.

Gill I should think the Red Robin would do better in the sun. So you had a good day in the garden yesterday tidying up.

Hi all, Everything O.K. here. Still not feeling great after YET another terrible night. Was awake until 2.35 am then again at 4.30. Up and about by 7.00. All the Veg, pudding, cheese sauce made. Meat BEEF is ready togo in the oven around 4.00 pm.

I forgot about the boat race. Perhaps I will catch highlights later.

Not read any posts, sorry. Hope you are all well. xxxx

Good afternoon all very grey here but not too cold. We visited a garden centre this morning and have spent the rest of the day indoors, well except for OH who planted up a couple of small plants we bought.

I think somebody asked about daughter’s new house, I.e. did they design it? No it is being built on a small estate about 60 houses, it is just foundations at the moment but as they are buying early they can choose the kitchen design from the ones they do and several other things which have alternatives. The plans look very nice. At the moment they live in the south Lake District so it is not far to move and won’t be until the autumn..

I have read back but still have them here so not a lot of time. I am not stiff today although my sciatica is a bit painful. That is normal though we like that walk and have done it often but as the younger generation we’re setting that pace it was a bit more tiring than usual. Still enjoyable though.
Hope Ja e has had a good meal with her sister and that Janice has had a good day.
Frank hope you can sleep tonight.

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY JANICE <3 <3 <3

I do hope you enjoyed your lovely surprize and had a great day.

Well I hav'nt done a thing except feed the chickens and do the breakfast. Sat and watched the boat races and ate a few chocs with oh who had more than me. I see Cambridge won both the ladies and the men's races. Thats the thrid time in a row for Cambridge.
As I hav'nt washed up yet from breakfast I think I better do it and then I may have a fiddle with the Easter Garland for the boys next door. Got a bit of backache from gardening yesterday.

Annx Report 7 Apr 2019 18:20

Evening All,

A very dull day here, so after lunch and popping in the factory shop we came home. At least the washing is all dry, so that was good.

Frank, my night was about as good as yours.......I was awake at almost the same times! I also managed to twist the base of my thumb somehow and it was agony till I managed to move it about a bit into a better position. It just feels sore now so I'm being very careful! I had a lovely parcel from you yesterday too, so THANK YOU and they were planted this morning in their new home!! I haven't really done anything else today, but I was contacted on FB by a girl from my grammar school days! (obviously not a girl any more!) I was quite good at hurdles at school, but she was brilliant and I used to pace her and also time her in games lessons. I was more than happy to do it as it got me out of tennis which I hated!!

We had a good look at the yellow lines as we went out this morning and what a mess! The lines are all crooked with yellow spray either side in blotches here and there. OH spoke to him earlier and he said people visiting the new properties had parked there twice recently at the edge of their garden. (the road is a bit wider there as it was to turn around in when we were the last bungalows. As the road curves inwards towards his garden he has done the lines straight across so it looks like some of the tarmac road is his front garden. He told OH he is going to put NO PARKING on that bit of the road, so I hope his spelling is better than his line drawing!! Even our deeds say we or our visitors cannot park on the road, it's so narrow it's just for access. As there is no sign up, no-one even knows it is a private road though.

We bought our first marital home like that AnnG and it is ideal as it means with being able to customise it you feel at home straightaway. We could pick our fire, colour of bathroom suite and altered the size of the cloak cupboard so the hall was bigger, had extra plug sockets. I bet they are looking forward to it being built and getting the garden straight.

Gill, I think you need some Tai Chi or something to get you to relax!! lol. It does sound like you overdid it a bit too soon before you were better, so I hope you are feeling ok now. Your garden sounds like a changing picture with being able to swap the plants around which is handy to do when things are past their best.

I wonder if Mel has found some motivation now and has those bunnies under control! I don't seem to have found any yet. :-(

SuffolkVera Report 7 Apr 2019 18:37

Good afternoon everyone

Just seen the time - perhaps I should be saying Good Evening.

Like you Frank I haven't slept well for several days so I know how you feel. I am so tired that I don't really know what time of day it is or which way is up. I read a lot at night but I avoid using the iPad or phone. On one occasion I did email my daughter at 3 am, expecting to get a reply next day, but she answered it straightaway. She couldn't sleep either!

That was a good canal walk you had the other day AnnG. OH goes out early every morning and walks about 4.5 miles and he does it in a fraction under the hour. He puts me to shame, particularly as he is coming up 82. He's got far more energy than I have. After his walk this morning he went and did some weeding till it started raining and then walked another mile or so to and from the pub to have a lunchtime pint with a neighbour.

Gill, it sounds as though you overdid it a bit in the garden. You haven't been well lately so you are probably a bit run down and need to take it easy and give yourself a bit more recovery time.

Jane I hope you have had a lovely day with your sister. I bet she was surprised to see you. What did you have to eat?

Ann, you asked what I had to eat when we went out for a meal on Friday. We both started with ham hock and apricot terrine with sourdough toast and an apple and raisin chutney, then I had lemon and thyme chicken breast with fondant potatoes, buttered greens and a mushroom bonbon (it looked like a large stuffing ball). I'm not a lover of mushrooms so passed it on to OH. He had pork belly with various veg. I finished with poached plums with spiced granola and lemon marscapone and OH had the cheese board. A nice bottle of wine and a couple of very strong black coffees to finish. It was all yummy.

Your neighbours are so inconsiderate Ann and Jane with their parking and their yellow lines. Difficult to see what you can do about it though. I suppose Ann that you and the other neighbours could appeal to the builder who owns the road to get the yellow lines removed. Our little close, 5 bungalows and our house, is also a private road owned by the builder. I am pretty sure that he is also responsible for the maintenance.

Talking of private roads has just reminded me that it is dustbin day tomorrow. The dustmen won't come up the road - in fact they would struggle to get their vehicle into our little turning - and I must go and send OH out in the rain to wheel the bin down to the recreation ground at the bottom of the road where we have to leave it.

I hope everyone has a good night's sleep tonight. Bye for now.

Whats this about me and bunnies????? I caught the baby one from down by the bantams and disposed of it.

I have just cleaned the chickens out and now my mouth feel like the bottom of a bird cage so oh has the kettle on to make me a drink.

The suns still out here but the wind is still up too so not very nice out there as the winds cold.

Gillx Report 7 Apr 2019 20:35

Just finished watching the boat race, disappointed as I would of liked Oxford to win, I hope they do better next year. We watched the Grand National I recorded yesterday, all three of us share the horses between us and Sandra got 1st 2nd and 4th, OH got 3rd. I think I backed the donkeys as they all came way back. It was sad about the 2 horses that passed away, that's the bit none of us like about the race.

Yes, I think I did over do things in the garden yesterday after not being well for a while, so today OH moved most of the pots around, there were only a few and didn't take long to do, I just moved the tiny ones out of his way so he could get to the back of the border.

It is handy being able to move the pots around Ann, so the garden is like a changing picture, that's a nice way to think of it. It looks so much better now OH has cut the lawns and trimmed the edges around the borders. All the Tulips and Primulas are out and the bluebells are starting to make an appearance to, so the garden is very colourful at the moment especially with the Camellia's in flower and the red tips on the Pieris's. I love spring it's my favourite time of the year. I hope your thumb is feeling better now and you have a better nights sleep tonight.

I see you haven't slept to well recently either Vera, I hope you manage a better night's sleep tonight to. Your meal sounded lovely, my mouth was watering just reading your post.

I'd love to buy off plan AnnG, but the only thing that puts me off is the size of the gardens, they seem very small and I find the houses are a bit to close together to. It must be nice to be able to chose all the fixtures and fittings though, then move in having it just the way you want it, that's the bit I'd like. Sorry to hear your sciatica is playing up, I hope it isn't to bad now.

How did you get on with your garland Mel? I'd love to see a pic when you've finished it.

I wonder how Janice's birthday went, I bet it was a lovely surprise to see Jane.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Apr 2019 23:04

I hav'nt done anything to the garland but put one cost of paint on some eggs I am going to put on it.

Gillx

Gillx Report 8 Apr 2019 09:07

Morning all

Lovely and sunny here at the moment but there is rain forecast for later so I'm glad we've sorted the gardens and the lawns are cut. We've still got a lot more to do especially weeding but I'm going to give myself a bit longer to get over this bug before we do anymore. I also need to re-pot a few of our plants as they are outgrowing the pots they're in now.

So you've put a coat of paint on the eggs ready for the garland Mel, how long is the garland going to be? What else are you putting on it?

It looks like some more work is being done next door as there is a van outside and the owner is there. We spoke to the owners the other day and they said the insurance are going to let them know what's happening today, we still don't think they'll pay out, but if they say it was an accident, which is what was said in the paper then they might get the kitchen done through the insurance. We don't think there's much more to do so hopefully it'll all be finished this month and they can move in.

Nothing planned for today, I'm a bit achy from the gardening the other day so I think I'll take it easy and make a start on Sandra's cushion covers, I haven't felt up to doing it lately so they can be done today. I think I've got some cushions in the loft so OH is going to take a look for me first, then I can see what size to make the covers. I also need to alter a skirt for Sandra, so that'll keep me busy today without over doing things again.

Good morning all. ot very nice here today, misty damp. OH has gone to golf I have a bedding wash load in and am sitting waiting while daughter and OH psyche themselves up for the journey home. Unlike us when travelling they are slow starters. Probably when they have gone do a few unmentionables then a bit of card making or maybe catch up with correspondence. Difficult to start anything while they are here

Gill, good to hear that you are taking it easy for a while. The garden will wait for you and you are pretty well up to date with it.

Morning all

My weather app says I have sunny intervals, a light breeze and later the temperature will reach 16 degrees. I look out of the window and it is still cold and grey though the wind has dropped.

I hope your daughter and her OH have a good journey back Ann.

I think you’re wise to take it easy for a day or two Gill. I’m planning to do the same today as I have some back pain at the moment. Getting dressed this morning was fun. OH was out for his walk and I couldn’t get my underwear and trousers on. I had visions of hopping around with one leg in and one leg out till he got back but I managed in the end :-)

I’ve got a load of washing in and OH is going to change the bed linen when he gets back from a trip to the tip. I have no plans for the rest of the day.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Apr 2019 11:02

Morning all,

The winds dropped a bit here too today but the skys are grey but I don't think its so cold outside.

One broken egg this morning. Bah humbug.

Gill you have a rst today as AnninG said the garden will wait till you feel better so have a nice day doing the cushion cover and Sandra skirt.

I have wshing in and its just finished so I shall get that on the line and have a look at the eggs I painted and see if they need a second coat then I can put some spots on them. I have three white ones and three pale blue ones and they are going to be intersperced with little white sheep and a black one in the middle. I shall make it so it fits on our windowsill which is what I did with the pumpkin one a couple of years ago for Halloween and it fitted their shelf over the aga. I may put some pompoms on it too or beads not sure what yet.

Vera you need to get yourself one of those grabber things and sit down with your trousers on the floor and put your feet in and pull the trousers up with the grabber. I had to do that when I put my back out. Glad you managed in the end and did'nt have togo to the door with half your trousers on!! :-S

AnninG will you put your cards on the blog so we can see them please?

I made a card for Jane's daughters wedding out of the lace from Jane's wedding dress. She was thrilled and so was Hannah.

As I type its getting a bit brighter out there and the machine has stopped so I better get that on ethe line or it won't dry.

Gillx Report 8 Apr 2019 12:31

Love the cards on your blog AnnG, Sandra loves them to. Yes, I thought the same thing, the garden can wait. I've put the water feature on which sounds lovely. The sun is still out and it's quite warm now.

Sorry to hear you haven another broken egg Mel, at least it was only one this time, hopefully no more will be broken. Yes, the card you made for Hannah and Gareth was lovely and a nice thought using the piece of lace off Jane's wedding dress, it'll be a card they treasure forever. How are you getting on with your garland, it sounds like it's going to be great when it's finished?

I was thinking the same thing as Mel, Vera about the grabber to help you get dressed. Pleased to see you managed on your own and didn't have to wait for OH's help. I hope you feel better soon.

My sore throat has come back and when I took a look I've got one white spot right in the middle, hopefully I won't end up with anymore and it'll heal itself soon. I've just had a Strepsil which has eased it a bit. If it gets any worse though I'll have to see the doctor. I hope this is the last illness I have now, as I'm really fed up and just want to feel fit again. I feel like I'm having a whole years illness's in one go. :-(

OH found the infill for the cushions I'm making for Sandra so I'm going to start them now. Sandra and I are watching the last Bake Off for Cancer I recorded, then I'm sure Sandra will find us something else to watch off the planner, we have lots of films and a few 60 minute makeover's, plus the Gladiators, so plenty for her to choose from.
