Afternoon All

I have not had chance to read back over any posts from yesterday or today yet and now I am just about to go an pick up my new glasses. Just wanted to let you know I haven't left the planet and we had a wonderful time yesterday clebrating Janice's Birthday. She burst into tears when she saw me and then again when she saw Chris .
The look on her face was priceless :-D :-D Her 3 children have paid for her and Larry to stay in Ypres Belguim for 3 nights in September. What a smashing present.

I really must get myself ready and get to the other side of town now to Specsavers. At least there will be no school traffic to contend with :-D

Gill it sounds to me as though you may have thrush in your throst if there are white spots.

I have worked the garland out now and I have to make 10 small pompoms so you know what I shall be doing for the rest of the afternoon. :-S I'm making them in pale yellow wool. I think I told you I bought the little lambs that I am putting on it. I hope it works out ok.............

Suns still shining here but the wind is still icy.

Just cut the fourth one round the edge and the pom pom making came undone. Blow thats one more I have to make now as I can't put it back together.

Have made the fourth so 6 to go.

Afternoon All,

Sunny here but misty in the distance but I didn't need a coat when we went out this morning.

That's good you have decided to sit and sew today Gill. It will give your body a bit of rest and the cushions need doing anyway so it isn't as if you are doing nothing. I bet Sandra will be pleased you are doing them for her. :-D

Mel I thought you said that bunnies were looking up at you the other day, but it must have been the lambs!!! lol It will be interesting to see your garland when you have finished it, but what a shame one of the pompoms unravelled. I hate setbacks like that when everything has been going well.

AnnG we like to make a reasonably early start when we are travelling a distance too. I have my case packed the night before and we never want breakfast till later so it is just a case of shower and dress ourselves.

Vera we think the builder has retired since his building partner brother died last year. I sympathise with your bad back and trouser problem! When I lived on my own and had sciatica I used to lie on my back on the bed and slowly draw my knees up to my chest (like kneeling upside down!). Then I could hook my pants and trousers over my feet and hotch them up my thighs by rolling and tugging one side then the other. Then I could stand up and finish the job! It's horrid having a bad back as every movement seems to involve it. If you haven't tried them, I found those Deep Heat patches good to wear in the day (Jane told me about them!). They make it less painful and help clear it up more quickly too.

The neighbour has now completed his 'road art' with 'KEEP CLEAR' in white! If the silly man hadn't cut his bushes at the front edge so severely no-one could have parked there anyway.

It sounds like your sister was quite overcome by your and Chris's appearance Jane. What a great surprise for her! :-D Did you manage to resist a BURGER this time!! :-D :-D

OH has just gone to a 2nd meeting at a new school he now has. It's only a quarter of a mile from here but he's taken his car and not walked this time. He said he was about on his knees last time with carrying a heavy briefcase and the long walk from the road to the school building! I did warn him as I have done some craft classes there. He said he was worried about getting mugged on the way as well with carrying a briefcase. It sounds like that's a bit of exercise he planned that's gone west now. lol.

Been out and done the chickens corn and helped oh pick up all the wood and old chicken fencing. I drove the mower while he picked it up and put it in the trailer.

Just finished the 10th pompom so they are ready now. Going to look at the eggs now and see if they are dry.

Jane Report 8 Apr 2019 18:16

Just came back to read the posts but we have a lot of thunderclaps going on so I am not going to hang around.I will turn off the laptop.
I did just spot Mels idea about it being Thrush Gill in your throat. That makes a lot of sense as all those antibiotics are likely to be the cause. You might need some Nystatin drops.
Dogs going bonkers barking with the thunder .It is not overhead but not too far away.I can't quite work out which way it is heading.

Little William was so funny yesterday. His Dad told him off for running around the table and William's reply was "I wasn't running Daddy,I was Speed Walking " :-D :-D :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Apr 2019 18:29

Speed walking he has a quick mind that littley.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Apr 2019 18:46

Back again as thunder seems to have moved off for now
Oh dear Vera . I know the feeling about not being able to get one leg in pants and trouser leg. Chris has often seen my trying this .It's no joke is it.It can be quite an ordeal .My trouble is just not having the flexibility in my bad hip.I find it easier standing up but often have several stabs at getting that foot through the leg hole in my pants and then trousers. I hope your pain is easier now.
When Fitz came up to us the other day he arrived with one shoelace undone and asked if one of us could do it up for him. I asked it he was sure he didn't want me to cut his toenails at the same time :-D,having done this job for him a few times in the past I was up for it if needed :-D. But he had finally been to Chiropodist so no help needed this end.

I meant to say about the Landrover parked outside our house. Well it is still there . But now we know why. Al has lost the keys and it has a steering wheel lock on.He called in on Saturday eveing to apologise.Apparently the people who fixed the oil leak brought it back and parked it where it is but he just has no idea where the keys are. He is still trying to work on it tonight to get it moved. He was out there yesterday morning with a hammer when we set off and he was sure it would be moved before we got home. Obviously it is a very difficult problem .So at least we know now it hasn't been left there on purpose.
Crikey Ann. Your neighbour sounds a bit nuts! and a bit too slapdash painting yellow lines and now KEEP CLEAR. Maybe he thinks he is the new Banksy :-D :-D :-S

A hawk has just taken a blackbird on the front lawn. I thinkit may have been a Kestral as it had a bit of a job getting off the ground with it. :-( :-( :-(

Anne Report 8 Apr 2019 19:52

Jane I can imagine how delighted your sister was to see you and Chris on her special day. That was so funny William's comment on speed walking, kids today seem more forward now then they use to, You must have been pleased to get an apology for the land rover parked outside and to know it wasn't just thoughtless.

Gill hope you can get medicine to fix your throat, as you say healthwise it's not been a good year for you, you must be run down and need a good rest.

Mel glad that your pom poms are nearly finished, looking forward to seeing the Easter garland when it's finished.

AnnG we always had early starts when going on holiday missing the most of the traffic and giving nearly an extra day away. We would stop and buy breakfast on the way.

Vera sorry to hear your sciatica is giving you grief. I had a reverse problem last week , I had purchased some compression socks which I thought would help my restless legs, when I went to take them off I couldn't so I had to cut myself out of them, so the other two pairs will go in the charity bag.

One of my friends has just come back from 4 days lace making workshop as she was a novice compared to the group she went with she just made a book mark, she put photos on face book of what everybody was making it looked so complicated and it was amazing to see what they were all making.

I hope all of you having sleepless nights sleep better tonight.

I didn't know antibiotics could cause thrush Jane, that would explain my sore throat, I'll see if I can see the doctor and get some Nystatin drops like you said. I remember having the cream when I was younger and had thrush from wearing a brace and it worked a treat. How nice for Janice to see you both, bless her for her tears. I did laugh when you were telling us about little William and his speed walking, he's very funny isn't he. :-) At least you know why the land rover is still parked outside, let's hope he finds the keys so he can move it soon.

How annoying Mel that must of been when one of your pom pom's fell apart, at least they are finished now so you can get on with the next bit.

My throat has been so sore today I felt ill with it so didn't start Sandra's cushion covers in the end. I have the filling now thanks to OH bringing me an old cushion out of the loft, so when I feel a bit better I'll make them for Sandra.

Poor OH has to go to hospital for an operation, he has a hernia and it's been playing him up lately so he saw the doctor today. I wish he'd told me about it as I feel really bad now asking him for help in the garden the other day, the plant we put in the front garden was really heavy and he's not suppose to lift anything heavy, so now he's taking it easy to......what are we both like ;-) I feel like we're falling apart at the seams lol.

We were suppose to be doing my mum's decorating in her living room as a present for her birthday in June, but unless she can get someone to move her furniture we're not going to be able to do it for her, we're hoping OH's op is going to be after then otherwise he might not be able to even manage the painting. OH paints and I do the wallpapering, so we'd planned on doing it between us while mum was away for a few days in June, her birthday isn't until July. I hope we can still do it for her as we'd hate to let her down, she's really been looking forward to it. We'll still do the decorating but it might be later than we'd planned and it might be a bit difficult if she's there, we'll have to wait and see how we can do it for her. I'm sure we'll work something out between us.

Good morning all. Hope you can get something for that sore throat Gill.

Mel, glad you liked the cards. The page of photos is one I did recently for one of the 14 twelve by twelve scrap books I have done over the years.

Morning AnninG and all,

Grey day today but not much wind so thats good.

One broken egg this mroning and Chuchy standing over it but the good news is there were two more eggs in the nest that were ok. I am not sure if she just breaks them or if she eats them. I could'nt see any egg on her beak and I know one chicken lays eggs with a sort of thinish shell. I think I shall have to block out more light in the house as with it being new wood it is really light in there.

Shopping day once again and they seem to come around so quickly lately. No sooner do I load the fridge up than it needs replenishing. I suppose thats life.

I wonder how Frank is and hope we hear from him today. I do hope nothing has happened to him as I worry so when we don't hear from him.

Frank

Frank Report 9 Apr 2019 11:21

Good morning all, Yes, I am still in one piece. I have been feeling completely under the weather, in a bad mood. Not sure why I am like this, but it's getting me down.

I slipped in the shower yesterday morning, scrapped my arm on the shower unit, and felt rather giddy most of the day. Ros took Carolyn to the hospital for a heart scan yesterday, and then went to do a bit of shopping. She was home about 2.00 pm. I was suppose to be at the EYE CLINIC at 2.45 pm, but forgot all about it. I will phone today to apologies, and make another appointment.

MORE NEIGHBOUR TROUBLE. This time TONY AND VAL. Barry is here doing his lawns and odd jobs. I don't need him this week as I did my lawns last week. Anyway, Tony has a BIG RED ROBIN in the front garden, just on his side of the border. BUT as you know, they grow very quickly, and spread all over the place. I had asked Barry to cut it back a bit as it's getting to BIG on our side by the window, Being considerate I phoned Tony to tell him what I had done. He was down my throat like a BULL TERRIER.Val doesn't want it touching, I said either Barry does it or I will, and if I do it, it will be getting a HAIRCUT, like you haven't seen. !!! Barry has now cut it back. lol lol Why is it I get lumbered with these things. ?? I am really not a argumentative person, and would much prefer a quite life. But I will always stand my corner, when I have too,

Try to pop back later. xxx

I'm glad that you all seemed to have had some nice times, with visits to places, and having visitors yourselves.

Ros is out tomorrow to Milton Keynes with Julia. First time they have done that for a very long time. I will be at home with "BIGGLES". Anne, his mum, just phoned to see if we can have him from 7.30 am. A bit early but no doubt I will be up and about. I can just imagine it will be a morning when I sleep in. !!!!

Rainy day here this morning, and quite chilly. Was hoping get some veg plants in today, but they will have to wait.

Gillx Report 9 Apr 2019 11:24

Morning all

Cloudy here today but quite warm, the workmen are next door again and it looks like they have someone to clean the kitchen from the fire they had, not sure what the other workman is doing as there isn't any signage on his van. So long as something is being done next door, it means it's closer to be finished. It's been almost six months since they started. They could of built a whole house in that time.....talk about slow. We offered the new owners some help the other day, saying we could have them in there in 2 weeks, (we know lots of builders) but they didn't want our help and gave us the impression they didn't even want to talk to us as they couldn't get away quick enough. I hope they're not going to be horrible neighbours.

Sorry to hear about the broken egg Mel, maybe blocking the light out will help, I hope it does.

Gillx

Gillx Report 9 Apr 2019 11:30

Sorry to hear you've slipped in the shower Frank and hope you are okay now. Yes Red Robins grow very quickly, the two be bought have about 2 foot of new growth on them already and they are in pots, so I can imagine they would grow even bigger in the ground. At least it's been cut back now. How lovely to have Biggles with you again tomorrow, I know how much you love him.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 9 Apr 2019 12:54

Red Robins are lovely when small but can be thugs in the ground. A few years ago I planted a tiny cutting, last year we had it taken out as it was huge. A shame as theya re so pretty when the leaves are red.
Good job Ros didn't go to Milton Keynes yesterday Frank. They had a bomb scare in John Lewis and cleared the whole centre. And arrested a man for a bomb hoax. I do like Milton Keynes although not been to the centre for a long time (son lives in MK.)

Gill, maybe they were just in a hurry to get somewhere, Or maybe they were in a bad mood because of the builder. I shouldn't let it worry you.

Not very nice here today, been raining all morning. Well been raining since mid day yesterday actually.

Mel, it is a pity you are still getting at least one broken egg. Is this one of the new girls doing it?
