Morning All from the tropics!

It is so mild I haven't even had any heat on today.......sun is streaming through the window. They had some more streaky bacon in at Sains*ury's this morning so that is off the list.

Thank you for another stunning card Maureen, you do have a gift for composition and such a delicate touch. I have put it next to Mandy's where everyone can see it.

OH has gone up north to watch a match at Guiseley? I think that is the name, somewhere Sheffield way I think. He has taken a local footie fan with him who is taking his inflatable CROCODILE with a team shirt on. lol I said to OH I hope he hasn't got anything else inflatable with him.......I always think of Del Boy and those dolls when anyone says inflatable. lol

Yes, those curtain strings are awful to do. Still, better to do in the winter than last summer when it was sweltering. I must admit I took my pelmets down in the lounge when we re-did it and went back to poles......but the curtains still have to be done!! Thanks for the tip on nightlights Mel.......good idea and I suppose the car cigarette lighter would light them.

I used to love Tia Maria, but never tried it with cream on.......sounds very nice. Lately I've been having coffee with evap milk in......it's getting addictive though!!

Love the e-mails Frank!!

By the way Frank, if you haven't fixed your BIG screen yet, on mine, if you press ALT and the SPACEBAR together a menu comes up with RESTORE on it. I think that may fix it. If just one or two sides are off the screen, the site below tells you the above and how to resize individual borders.

Ann, You are a clever little thing, I just read your post and did it. Great. THANKS.

It reads well Jane, Christ is doing something with it at the moment !!!!

Inflatables, yes Del boy had me in stitches with that. I still tune into Fools and horses when madam is'nt around., also last of Summer wine and Dad's army. Takes you back when comedy was comedy. Not like the rubbish they put on now.

Went to do Chickens this morning. and there was an EGG. first for months.

Mel, It's called SODS law. The times this has happened to us, I now have some spare bags in the draw in the garage. We did away with pelmets, when I last decorated. It's poles and rings now.

Feels like a spring morning out there today 6 degrees. !!!

Home alone for a little while yet. Finished reading my book, will start another this afternoon. Then when Ros gets in it will be T.V. She must have something on.!!!!

Oh Gawd! Who want's to come and help me get the lights right on the tree?????.I am at my wits end.It is too sunny to see them properly,so I will leave them as they are until later.
Chris just walked in and said"That's it decorated then is it? " lol.The tree has a slightly bent trunk too,and looks a little tipsy. It will fit in well here I think.
I saw Fitz's Christmas tree earlier .It is stunning.I will have to geta photo of it to show you all.

Thanks for the cards Fiona and Maureen.Love your cats Maureen,in their winter wonderland.
I'm now going to get the decorations for the tree in so they are ready for later.I think it will be the Red and White colour scheme.
The Christmas Carols are playing, trying to get myself in the mood.

I hope Liz and OH are ok today.
Back in a wee while ......14.51

Well we have done the outside tree ,all the lights are on but i will go out when its dark to see if they need to be moved about , i usually end up with more lights on one side than the other , also put some lights round the front door and little lanterns in the honeysuckle round the back .

Also put the Christmas wreath on the front door, i've got tiny little lights in it ,just got to remember to turn them on.
I didn't wear any gloves when we did the tree ,now my fingers are all itchy !!!

DIL gave us a lovely photo taken at Jake's school, she had all three of them in the photo ,Katie doesn't look to happy in it though, i don't think she really knew what was going on .
Now got to find somewhere to hang it ,its in a nice white frame .

BIL and SIL just gone a little while ago. I did an earlish lunch but they still managed to turn up just as I had put it on the table so they had to make their own tea and coffee. Well that got me out of that job. Robert made it actually. They went quite late so I did'nt go shopping.

The postman came and brought me nearly a sack load of post today and I have to thank Ann, Maureen and Mandy for the lovely cards. Mandy yours is beautiful and yes I still have last years too. Also Maureen another lovely painting for my collection. Somewhere in the depths of our lounge I have a whole set of video's about watercolour painting with the different mediums. I shall have to get them together and perhaps send them to you if you would like Maureen.

Mandy I always get itchy hands with the tree.I took some mitts with me to the garden centre. The Fairy is now up,looking a little tilted lol.
Chris has just strained and decanted the Sloe Gin.I have to say it tastes gooood. He has put his home made label on the bottle. There was a little left over,so we are just sampling it.I hope I don't need to get on those little steps for the tree again lol

Ann ,Fitz could not get a 12 foot tree anywhere this year so has had to have an 8 foot. They have raised it a bit on bricks and covered the bricks with some material.
Yes it my same tipsy fairy as last year .I think it must feel a bit dizzy by now lo
It is now dark enough for me to see where the lights are,so will go and have a fiddle.

Hi Everyone! Feeling a lot less tird today! yesterday was certainly a bit of a marathon!! We got to 'Musgrove' just after 12 noon, appointment was twenty past; traffic a bit grim going in, but there you are, it is Christmas! Saw this very nice specialist and after a bit of a chat, decided that the best course of action was to have the Prostate out, so, OH is now booked in for about three weeks time! the operation will be keyhole which will make it a lot easier, and he'll be away for 3/4 days. Afterwards he'll have a catheter for 2/3 weeks, and a bit of discomfort for ?!!! OH MAY have to have a small course of radiotherapy afterwards just to make sure that ALL the cancer cells that might escape, so to speak, during surgery are mopped up!! not too sure about that, have to see! After 'the chat' we then had to go to 'The Medical Day Centre ' for pre-op tests (saved us having to go back!!) These seems to take 'for ever', but at least they are done! after that we had to go to Sainsburys!!!!!!! I'm like you Frank, I love all those all comedys, Dads Army makes me laugh out loud, and Del Boy and Last of the Summer Wine always makes me chuckle!! Morcombe and Wise too, I used to love them! Jane I hope you've fixed your tree!!! I have a vision of you all on Xmas morning, wondering whether it's the tree or you who is on the skew!!!! Laura is much better today thank goodness, we have decided not to meet up over Xmas as we DON'T want any coughs and colds, too risky, so we shall be Derby and Joan on our own! not to worry, we can meet up later when it doesn't matter so much. Thank you all for your good wishes and concern, it makes a big difference to know that there are all you nice people out there!!!!

Liz, Have just seen your posting. So pleased that they are not wasting a lot of time, getting OH into Hospital. I'm sure it's a worry for you, but in the long run, it will be better all round. It will be over before you know it !!!!

Jane Report 11 Dec 2010 17:44

Liz, it sounds like things will be fine with OH.The catheter will feel uncomfortable for a little while ,but that will settle. At least now you know what is going to happen.

My tree is now half done.I'm getting there!!!
I remember as a little girl standing on a chair throwing little balls of cotton wool on the tree (for snow). When I was in the garden centre this morning I noticed there was very little Tinsel for sale.I think tinsel is out of fashion.
I didn't see any paper chains either lol

I am glad you are sorted out on the treatment your OH needs Liz.. FIL had keyhole for his hernia a couple of years ago and it was so much quicker to heal than his previous one done the old way, so that will make things better for your OH. It is good he can have an uninterrupted xmas and then have his operation early in the New Year. Frank is right, it will all be done before he knows it.

Better go and cook the salmon and do the salad for tea ready for OH when he gets home......he is always starving when he gets back. It seems quite cold again now but I shall be flinging the back door open.....can't stand the smell of fish cooking. lol

I've just thought, Mel won't have any spring cleaning to do next year!!

Not my night for T.V. JLS now X factor. Can't stand all the screaming and shouting. Elton John might be good if he plays the piano and sings, but I doubt it. All talk being Pears.

Had my Indian,Chicken Bhuna. They sent be a bottle of Cobra Indian beer tonight. Quite nice, first for ages.

You were a lucky child Jane, cotton wool balls, and paper chains. no wonder you never grew up. Only JOKING.

Ann, I have never got on with salmon, it always plays me up (indegestion) out comes the Gavilas###. It's not worth the effort. I do like a salmon sandwhich though.

Only another hour or so, and I can go back to watch T.V.
Might spend a few bob on Ebay, to get it out of my system !!!
