Mo in Kent Report 11 Apr 2013 15:32

Hello my lovelies,
Is there any news from Ann yet? I do hope she got on o.k

Talking of having our hair done, I am due for a nice cut and colour on Tuesday. The colour will be done at home by myself, but I cant wait to get the cut done.
It feels that as I get older, my hair grows quicker. Normally I make an appointment for six weeks apart, but after five weeks it starts to look like a scarecrows hair.
The fringe is starting to hang in my eyes again, even though I have trimmed it up once since the original cut. I feel a bit like a shaggy dog lol

Once again, we have had a lovely dry sunny day, it's still cold, but lovely and bright.

Our summer season darts starts tonight, and I am really looking forwards to it.
Must go now, I hope you are all well.
Jean, is there any news on your appointment yet honey?
Love to you all, Mo xxx

Yes I am back, actually went in 5 minutes early (there's a first) and was out by five past three, so we walked into town and went and had a glass of wine and a bowl of chips in Wetherspoons.

Apart from the three lots of injections (3 ulcers) and a blast of liquid nitrogen (another one he spotted in its early stages) It wasn't too bad. He froze the one, scraped two and did a punch hole biopsy with one stitch in the one on my leg. Have to wait for the biposy results now (3) but they take ages to come through. He will let me know the results then call me in for another appointment. they are a little bit sore and I have to have the stitch out in 7 days, but not too bad at all really.

Jean did they give any indication how long you'd have to wait for an appointment for the biopsy? Mine always take ages to come through so that I have almost forgotten about them by the time they do. As the consultant said he didn't think it was anything to worry about I would try and shove it to the back of your mind and get on with your life while waiting. I am sure if he had been worried you'd have been called quickly.

Thanks for letting us know how you got on Ann, do you know what causes the ulcers to keep appearing? you sound a lot braver than me..... I have been told by the practice nurse I have a low pain threshhold,. if I prick my finger I feel it for days after, so I would be a nervous wreck if I had to have what you go through, personally I think my version is another word for wimp ;-) ;-) so I cry a lot... ;-) ;-)

I have some pics of Fathers day cards so when my putter-on gets home if she isnt too late I will send them through....take care lovey, and rest the leg.....

Mo what colour are you going to do your hair? you would look good with bright pink, like Helen Mirren had done...send a pic .....

pie and mash for tea so will see you all later....

love Jean xx.

Aaaah Ann, I hope the discomfort goes quickly, and that the results are good for you.
Waiting for biopsy results is a worry, but god willing all will be fine my love.

Jean honey, if the appointment was an emergency, they would have fitted you in pretty damn quick, so PLEASE, try not to worry to much.
I don't think I will bother with the pink hair. I had that colour back in the sixties, when my skin tone wasn't to bad. But now, well, having grey hair and skin to go with it, seems to be fashionable.
No seriously, I will do it the same beige blonde I always use. People dont seem to notice when the grey creeps back in with this colouring.

I must go now, got to get myself ready.
Love to all, Mo xxx

Hi Jean, the rodent ulcers (which don't actually look like ulcers, sometimes a small bump and sometimes a sore patch), are caused by skin damage from the sun many years ago. Sometimes people get one, sometimes many like me and there could be more. Another name for them is basal cell carcinoma which is why they can't be ignored, a couple I have had for about 20 years and they haven't 'turned', but they can in rare cases develop into melanoma.

I am ok with injections usually, although the last lot at the dentist were painful. The atmosphere at the dermatologists is very relaxed, he and his nurse are lovely which helps, I had never had the liquid nitrogen before and that stung but soon couldn't feel it. It is all sore now so sleeping should be fun with my leg and back sore.

Sallie Report 11 Apr 2013 22:00

Ann, glad that all went well with your appointment, and hope that the biopsy results are good.

Jean, I'm sure that if the consultant thought there was anything to worry about he would have arranged for you to have the biopsy the very next day. These consultants can tell just by looking at something that it's 99% okay, but have to make sure that it is. Try and concentrate on your cards so that it helps to take your mind off it. I know that isn't always
easy.

Mo hope you are feeling better and that you enjoy the darts match tonight. Good luck and hope you win.

Take care.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Thanks Sallie, a bit sore and achey today, achey from the injections I think. And didn't sleep too well last night because I was sore if I laid in certain ways. But all will pass and be ok soon. :-)

Hello everyone,
I hope all our poorly friends are now feeling better.
Not got any good news to tell you at the moment I'm afraid, apart from the fact that I am feeling a lot better now.
This wednesday I have got my scan, thank goodness. I can't wait to get it over and done with.
Jean, have you got your appointment yet?
Ann, I hope you are not in to much pain now love.
I will love you and leave you now, so take care, love to all. Mo xxx

Mo you will be pleased to get the scan out of the way. I am ok, still a bit sore but nothing drastic. Will be pleased to get the one stitch out on Friday next. Tomorrow have to take the dressings off so shall see how things are then.

Huia Report 14 Apr 2013 03:30

I got up very early this morning, just after 4.00. After breakfast and the usual I got dressed and locked up and drove to the botanic gardens to take part in the Hospice Sunrise walk, twice round the gardens=5km. There were hundreds of people of all ages, sizes, shapes, plus a lot of dogs, doing it. After the first circuit I had to go toodaloo to remove the t-shirt I had on under a loose blouse, as I was much too hot, then I set of on the 2nd circuit. I wasnt the last one to reach the finish line! Although there werent too many behind me. I think though that quite a few people didnt do 2 circuits. I arrived home and collapsed on the settee and slept for a couple of hours, to make up for the shortage of sleep last night.

Mo in Kent Report 14 Apr 2013 19:08

Well done Huia, you are a real sport, and have got loads of get up and go. I'm afraid my get up and go, has got up and gone. lol
Were you fund raising for the hospice?
Also did you take any photo's of the sunrise before the walk.
Have you had the results of the last competition you entered yet?

Ann, I hope that when the dressing comes off, that it is nice and clean, and infection free.
Is the stitch they put in pulling Ann. I know that would make it so uncomfortable for you.
Have you been managing to get some sleep after having the biopsy's done, as I know you were having trouble at first ,after they had pulled and prodded you around
And you were pretty sore afterwards wern't you.

Did anyone watch the new series "Off their rockers" last week. Oh it was so funny, and Roly and myself cant wait for the second one to start tonight. We were both in stitches watching it.
And it's good to see the new series of "Catchphrase" back again. Sunday night T.V has been awful for some time now, but it is starting to get a little better now.

I will say bye for now girls, take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 14 Apr 2013 21:35

After my 2 hours sleep I had lunch, then decided I was still tired, so lay down on the settee and dozed off and on until 5.20 p.m.! But I still managed to get to sleep without any sleeping pill when I went to bed at 10 p.m. I wasnt that tired after I climbed Rangitoto, so dont know why I was so tired after this easier walk.

Mo, we were asked to get sponsorship for the walk but it wasnt compulsory and I felt my $30 reg. fee was enough. I didnt take any photos of the sunrise as it happened while I was driving there. By 'last competition' I presume you mean the haircut? It wasnt a competition but I raised almost $1000 in sponsorship.

I am working at the shop today, and want to go to town early so I can get some prints of the photos I took on the camera from the shop, if the machine in the photographer's shop will show them. I cant get my computer to see them on the card in the camera. :-(

AnninGlos Report 14 Apr 2013 22:08

I expect you were tired Huia because you didn't have a good nights sleep the night before.hope you feel ok now.

Mo, the stitch isn't pulling, I forget it is there until I knock it. I shall have to change the dressing tomorrow. Might leave it off on the leg if it looks ok. Shall have to wait until T gets home from golf to see to the others, no way can I reach the ones on my back. Slept ok last night, not so sore now but I worry that my clothes will rub on the ones on my back. Shall have to wait and see.

Hello girls,
Huia, I meant the photographic competition love. The ones you put on FB, the ones we said we liked the best, and then you chose. (I'm not very clear am I, but feel sure Ann knows what I mean, as I believe she also chose a couple of photo's)

$30.00 registration fee for the charity walk was enough I agree. If you were going to be getting sponsors, I would have backed you honey, you are such a worthy person to sponsor. You never give in when given a task to do, do you.

Oooh Ann,make sure T is at home even when you do the one on your leg. It's making me wince even at the thought of you changing of the dressings.
Do you have to keep them all dry, or can you shower? I know when my son had his hernia repaired, he was not allowed to shower or bath, where as years ago, it was thought it was best to soak in salt water, to help keep the wound clean, and help with the process of healing. How things change.

I hope everyone here in the U.K have been enjoying this fine dry bright spell we are having at the moment. Lets hope it lasts.
We have not had to have the heating on for two days now, hooray.
Well girls, I will say cheerio for now, take care. Love Mo xxx

Mo I haven't showered yet, just washed so I am not smelly :-D when I do shower I have to cover the place with Vaseline. I removed the one on my leg, it was fine. T changed the ones on my back, keeping them covered as they rub on my clothes.
