AnninGlos Report 23 Oct 2020 12:42

Been to the shops now and collected the prescription..... eventually. took ages as for some reason they couldn't find it because it was not put in the right place.

Very damp here but 12 degrees. OH now getting a bit of a runaround as this morning he had a letter from the surgery to say book an appointment re results of the scan. when he tried to do that the doctor isn't available until 3 November (bet he is off for half term). But said would he like another doctor. Of course he would so he has had to go back to them, all this done via the surgery messages on line. At least I suppose we can assume that the results of the scan are not urgent (or can we?) He need the doctor to phone as he really wants to go to see him face to face.

I had a really bad night last night. 0430 had the light on reading as I had been awake over an hour and couldn't get back to sleep. Nothing like the middle of the night for throwing up all the what ifs?

OH is not as good today as he was yesterday. All he wants to do is lie on the bed. His condition is not helped by the fact he is bored, he can't do much because his sight blurs when he tries to read or watch TV, long site seems to be OK though -- I checked before he drove yesterday.

Those crossings are beautiful but not practical, Nice for pedestrians and I see it is on a sort of 'walkway' to the 'culture' centre which makes some sort of weird sense. But for motorists the black and white is universal, what are foreigners/visitors to the city going to make of them? At least the cost has not come out of your council tax.

I think they said its some kind of plastic paint or whatever but I hope it dos'nt get slippy on sometypes of soles on peoples shoes. I think its ridiculas myself and like Island said it reminded me of the 1970's style of art for wallpaper etc. The colours too. People may be looking at the pattern and run other people over on the crossing!!!!!!!!! So very silly and why were'nt peole asked what they thought before putting the silly thing down there.

Moan over and the suns been out and its rained. The deer jumped into the garden from the top garden over the fence then headed to the orchard.

I must send yesterdays deer pics.

The deer are obviously happy and feel safe in your garden Mel. Are they eating all your plants.

AnninGlos Report 23 Oct 2020 17:20

I have got a bit of a tick ly sore throat. I can’t think that I have been anywhere to catch it not been near anyone not wearing a mask or even close to someone wearing a mask. I am wondering if it is caused by the three lilies (star lilies?) that are fully open in a bouquet sent to us by my sister. Would you think that possible?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Oct 2020 17:25

Yes I would. Try moving them to another room.

Been clearing otu again and just come across mums old handbag which I had taken everything out of or so I thought. Its got so many pocket and places to put stuff and on the last zipped pocket low and behold three £10 notes but they are the old ones. My question is will they still change them in a bank or post office?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 23 Oct 2020 18:36

Yes I think they will at a bank anyway.

OH had a letter from our surgery saying to contact to get a phone appointment from the doctor dealing with the case. When he did this by their message system they replied saying the first he could phone was 3 No vember. Looks like he is on holiday next week so why didn’t they say that I. The letter. Anyway a doctor will phone him on Monday, it is the lady doctor whe did the minor op on my arm in March.

I am hoping that this means it is not urgent if it could have waited until November

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Oct 2020 18:39

That was a good find Mel ,have a Google it looks like you can still take them to a post office or bank with two forms of ID

Well we had a very good morning out in the front garden ,we filled five tubs with cuttings from the white Rose ,I cut out loads of dead bits and we've now tied it back to the fence ,my goodness what a difference it's made ,it's been hanging right over onto the lawn for the last few weeks because Colin wanted to get the fence painted .

Lovely photos of the deer Mel they do look right at home ,are they eating the Apples .

Oh AnnG those lilies are lovely but the perfume can be quite strong so perhaps it is the scent from them that has affected your throat ,hope it feels better tomorrow.

Roll on Monday then Island ,I meant to ask did you enjoy your little trip away .

Ann your going to be busy with all your zoom course's I'd love to see the little fabric box when you've done it .

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Oct 2020 18:42

It looks that way AnnG if it had been really urgent they would have fitted him in straight away so fingers crossed it's nothing to much to worry about .

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Oct 2020 19:12

Oh do be careful in that shoe Vera it looks like you could easily catch your footing with the square front ,you would have thought they would have rounded the front of it to make walking easier .
I hope it's giving you more support though than your usual shoe and your foot soon heals.

Dear All

Hello

Whatever you are doing over the weekend, try and have a peaceful
and relaxing time.

I saw a rainbow in the sky earlier this evening. Simply magnificent.

Take gentle care
Love Elizabeth, EOS

SuffolkVera Report 23 Oct 2020 20:42

Thank you Elizabeth. I hope your weekend is all you would like it to be. There’s something special about rainbows isn’t there - they’re a sort of symbol of hope.

You have been busy in the garden Mandy. The photos of my elegant shoe don’t really make it clear but that square toe is 1.5” off the ground so I shouldn’t trip. There’s a little step over from our kitchen into the conservatory and I will have to be careful to make sure I lift my foot up high enough there. I think the shoe will help as there’s no weight on the front of my foot now.

Lilies are funny flowers Ann and could well be irritating your throat. I hope it feels better soon.

Lovely pics of the deer Mel. It must be great to have so much wildlife around even if it does eat all your plants.

I like the sound of Guava gin. We’re not gin drinkers but my daughter and my eldest granddaughter are partial to a glass or three and granddaughter does like the fruit ones. I found lots of references to it but I couldn’t find an actual recipe. I can do it like sloe gin but just need an idea of the amount of sugar to use as the berries are much sweeter than sloes. If I can’t find a recipe I’ll just have to guess.

My dil is apparently self isolating as she was at a funeral last week and someone else there has tested positive for Covid. Dil has been tested and it’s negative so far so fingers crossed it stays that way.

I’m now going to have a look at the crossword and perhaps read for a while. Sleep well tonight everyone.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Oct 2020 21:27

Vera if you make the gin without the sugar and taste it after you can add sugar syrup to it to your taste. Quarter of a lb of sugar to quarter of a pint of water boil it up and let it get cold or if you need more just double it up.

That shoe looks most uncomfortable and I hope you don't trip on the step between the conservatory amd the kitchen. Be careful won't you please.

Thanks for the wishes EOS and I hope you have a pleasent weekend too. x

Went through the things I have made today and moved them all to the lounge under my tables. We won't be having the Christmas fare this year so they are not needed. I had forgotten just how much I have made over the last couple of years.

Mandy its good you now have the rose tied up and out of the way. I did google and you can use them as they are still legal tender and the banks will take them forever same with old pound coins and I have a load of those too.

Good morning. Still dark here at 0800. For some strange reason just on bedtime last night I was convinced it was Saturday so put a couple of the clocks back thinking it was strange it had not been mentioned. When I went in to OH, my bedsise clock telling me it was 0630, he told me today was Saturday. It was a while before I believed him but then realised I have a Tesco delivery this morning (Saturday) and my computer told me it was Saturday. What a weird feeling though. The problem is with being home most of the time there is no 'reference' if you look back over the days.

Anyway Saturday, good morning. OH is wandering around better go and see.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Oct 2020 09:54

Morning Anng ON THIS SATURDAY MORNING when the clocks go back and All,

I think we all have days like that Anng I seem to remember Annx having one not so long ago. I do it frequently and even did it before lock down but then again I only used to go out on a Tuesday and Saturday just up the shop. Our house is behind a 12 foot high wall so we can't see the road and people going by the only one we see is Tim the postman when he comes down with letters. O thne there's the delivery men if we order something over the net and the Tuesday shopping man but its never the same person lately.

Miserable old morning here with cloud wind and rain and oh has even turned the heating on!!!!!!!!!

Annx Report 24 Oct 2020 11:08

Morning All,

Quite windy and dull here and the Jackdaws are all in the air over the field and loving it! I slept well last night but woke at 2.30am convinced it must be about 6.00pm!

I'm glad you all agreed with me about the zebra crossings What a waste of money and a bad idea!!

Vera I hope the boot will help, but you will have to be careful with the stairs.

I loved your pics of the deer Mel, and that is a huge Fuschia bush you have that one is nibbling. What a shame the digger has oil leaks. It sounds like it will need at least a new hose and clips replacing but hopefully the new handbook will be helpful with the other problem leak. Often it is just knowing the right way to dismantle and put together and seeing what is inside the leaky parts that you need to mend. I'm sure your OH will be able to fathom it out and fix it. I know his mowers have names.......does the digger have one? :-)

Yes as Mel says, I know just what you mean about getting days wrong! I am fine with Saturdays at the moment as he has footie and buzzes around earning brownie points beforehand. This morning he had the hoover whizzing around! It's the rest of the week I get mixed up now.

Time for poached eggs now! BBL

Well clocks returned to the right time my bed stripped and now in the dryer. (the sheets are). And shopping wiped and put away. A smaller amount this time, no point ordering stuff for OH if he is only going to throw it away. So I have ordered me a couple of ready meals to try them, he can then have jacket and beans or edd. He is a lot brighter today (think the prunes worked!) And said he had a good night's sleep.

I had a text from 'Will' the delivery lad to say he was running early was that ok? So it was all delivered, wiped and put away by 11.30.

Drizzly here first thing but dry at the moment and a bit blowy and 15 degrees out there.
