ooh Annx money money money!! There must be a third!

I have to find a way of improving OH's circulation in his feet he is constantly complaining that cold feet keep him awake. At the moment over him he has sheet, duvet, light blanket doubled and thick dressing gown with hot water bottle on his feet and wheat bag at his back.

Anyway good morning all, looks dry out there, says it is 6 degrees and it is quite murky/dark.

Morning AnnG, morning all,

Dreary here keeps drizzling and at times its so thick it looks like fog, we were lucky yesterday we managed to get the gazebo down and put away just before it started raining .

AnnG I don't know what to suggest to help your OH's feet ,would wearing a pair of socks in bed help ,nothing worse than feeling cold in bed .

I have a pain just under my left shoulder blade ,I pulled the washing machine out to clean behind and under the other day and stretched to clean some pipes at the back so I think I've pulled a muscle.

I think it's a day of rest for us by the fire .

Morning Anng, Mandy and all,

We have sun again this morning but its a bit weak at the moment, blue sky with lots of white cloud high up.

It does sound as though you have pulled a muscle Mandy so take it easy today and stay cosy by the fire there's nothing that needs doing so have an easy day. I could'nt pull our washing machine out if I tried its so tight in there even oh has a job to get it out.

I must try and clean the rest of the chicken house out today as I forgot yesterday. I emptied a plant out of its pot yesterday as it looked a bit suspect. It had vine weevil all round its roots what was left of them. It had 38 in it and I gave them all to the bantams who were so delighted they clucked and clucked whilst finding them.

Must tell you this, oh has just come in from outside having a ciggy and leaning on the rail by his pond. Down came the two Robin's that we feed on the rail with mealworms and they decided to have a fight...... on his head. They do both come and fly and touch you on the shoulder to let you know they are there but I thought it was so funny when he told me as they really hang on to each other when they have a bundle.

Morning AnnG, Mandy and all

Another grey, damp morning here. Miserable old weather.

Sorry to hear you now have a back problem as well Mandy. It certainly sounds as though you have strained a muscle. Take it easy for a couple of days. i’ve also had a sore back down one side of my spine but I think it’s because, sitting with my foot up, I am constantly twisting to the little table OH has put beside me. I really need the table on my lap lol.

It’s hard to know what else to suggest to keep your OH warm AnnG. Is he always a bit chilly or is it just that he can’t move about much at the moment? Socks would help if he isn’t already wearing them in bed. Apart from a few weeks in the summer I always wear socks to bed. OH says my circulation stops at my ankles.

“We’re in the money, we’re in the money” - lucky you Ann :-). It must be nice to get some cheques instead of bills.

It sounds as though you enjoyed your little trip around with Ros, Frank. It’s good you got some more tablets and I hope they help.

I expect Gill is busy with Sandra at the moment. I hope that’s why she hasn’t posted .

Have any of you been told by Asda that you are losing your delivery slot? A friend, who is in the vulnerable category, had an email from them saying her weekly deliveries would be stopping at the end of October and she would have to try and book online each time she wanted a slot. She sent a reply thanking them for letting her know but saying how disappointed she was as she relied on them. She then got another email saying they would continue with her deliveries until next March.

Love as always to Jane <3 and I hope you are having a good weekend EOS.

Now I must get my Tesco order for Tuesday sorted and then start prepping dinner - roast lamb today, my favourite :-)

Missed you there Mel. I am now picturing the robins on OH’s head. Rather him than me.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Oct 2020 11:58

I wish I had had my camera and seen it too Vera. They do come right up to him to feed as he puts the worms on the rail by his elbow under a piece of wood and when the Robin lands on the wire across the pond it rings a bell so he moves the wood for it to get to the worms. He's good at working these things out.

I never have seen my baby Bob since I told you he was missing. He did sneeze a lot so perhaps he had something wrong with him and after that strong wind we had that was the end of him. Now I have to wait till next years lot of babies to see if I can train another one to my hand.

Good afternoon Mandy, Mel and vera. Oh Mal what a good photo that would have been, did he have a hat on?

Vera that does sound as if the constant twisitng is causing that pain is there room the other side of your chair so you can give one side a rest. You need a little TV table.

Mandy, even if he wears socks in bed his feet are cold. He has always had bad circulation in the last few years but is worse now he can't move around as much. He does get up and circuit the lounge, dining room kitchen but it is an effort for him. In bed he usually ends up buried under all sorts but feet still cold. Rubbing them helps but I am not there in the middle of the night and he can't reach his feet.
I hope that your shoulder doesn't take long to heal. Don't really like to tell you this but that is vaguely what I did back in April and it has never got better, in fact it spreads all down my arm now, so rest it well and hope your will be OK. You are younger than me so should be OK.

Have to say I feel very 'down' today. It is so hard remaining cheerful and up-beat all the time when OH is so obviously in pain, depressed about his situation and (although he doesn't say) scared of the scan results.
Tears not far away today. Sorry to be such a wuss. Must do better!!!

AnninGlos, I know how your OH is feeling. I am up and down with me ANXIETY/PANIC attacks like a yoyo. Poor Ros tries to help but all I want to do, is shut myself away in the conservatory with the door and windows open. I get nice and COLD and start to relax,. I am drinking bottles of water, as though they are going out of fashion. But I really feel it helps.

I have prepared dinner for this evening, Roast Beef, Yorkshire pudding, Roast pots and Parsnips. Peas and carrots, Cauli and Broch in a cheese sauce, and runners. It has kept me busy and taken me out of myself. I have also sat a finished CAPTAIN TOP. As I said, it's a great read, of a man born and breed in Yorkshire, and his trip though life to his 100th year. I had a few tears during his experiences, so it's quite a gripping story. Will now pass onto Tony, then John Fairs, and anyone in the village who would like to read it.

A real nothing sort of day here, very overcast with a DAMP feel to the air. I have been down the shed to sort out some screws for the castors for the base of the Pouf that Ros has bought, I just hope they aren't too long.

John Wayne film just started "TIE A YELLOW RIBBON" I expect I have seen it, but will sit for a while, to see if I get bored or not.

Stay safe. xxxx

No he did'nt have a hat on and has very short hair all over his head.

Sorry I did'nt get a pic to cheer you up. What about one of those sponges on a stick for washing your back? He could give his feet a massage with one of those or another wheat bag for his feet or hot water bottle in a nice furry cover.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 18 Oct 2020 14:54

Hang in there AnnG. I understand just how you feel, having gone through a nightmare with OH last year. Have a little cry if you want, it’ll give you a bit of relief; just do it out of sight of OH, and don’t forget we’re all here when you need us, either on the thread or by pm/email. Sending you a cyber hug <3

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Oct 2020 16:08

He has a hot water bottle in a fleecy cover, and a wheat bag and another hot pack and a back rest that massages. At least I know where to find him, if he isn't in the lounge he is usually on the bed.

Oh AnnG sorry your feeling low , you've had this going on for so long now ,go and have a good cry ,it's a release , I hope tomorrow will be a better day for you.

Mel what a picture that would have made with the birds on your OH's head :-D
Lovely garden photo's thank you ,so pretty with all the autumn colour in the trees .

Children break up on Wednesday for half term ,so they have a week and a bit this half term ,it's usually only a week.

Is it next weekend we alter the clocks ? don't like these dark evenings .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Oct 2020 19:57

I think the clocks go back on the 25th.

Glad you liked the pics of my little walk in the back garden. I went out to try and get a pic of the tree creeper but by the time I had gone and got the camera I could'nt see it.

Annx Report 18 Oct 2020 20:27

Evening All,

Just brushed a key and lost a post which is so annoying when you have nearly finished it!

A dull, gloomy day here but quite mild and I slept quite well. I think the dark nights and mornings seem to help although I hate it getting dark so early.

Mandy I bet it was moving the washer that has pulled a muscle high in your back. They are awkward things to move and I have to yank ours which isn't good for muscles. I hope the rest is helping it.

Mel I had a chuckle at the Robins having a squabble on your OH's head. It would have made a great photo wouldn't it! I .love your pics with all the autumn colours and like that apricot begonia with the dark leaves.

Frank I did say things would take a while to settle so try not to worry about them and do what you can to distract yourself as it will help. The Captain Tom book sounds good.....he is a lovely old chap. Find some more books to read. Have you heard anymore about help with a mobility scooter?

Vera I think you are right about your spine. I had trouble with my hip the opposite side when my clunky knee was hurting and I was hobbling and limping for 3 weeks. I thought it was a new problem, but it is ok again now. You asked about Asda, but I haven't heard anything and my recurring slots are still coming up ok at the moment. I do hope they don't mess about with things. It seems their meal deals had vanished today including the F&C meal we look forward to. I can't remember them letting us know they would be going either.

AnnG I would be surprised if you weren't feeling low with the state your poor OH is in. It must be very worrying for you both. I suffer temperature difficulties I think because of my thyroid although I'm on tablets. Mostly I am too hot and even now the extra hot flushes have gone, don't often wear a coat and am in short sleeves all year except on rare occasions and have a 3.5 tog duvet all year round. If I do get cold though, I seem unable to get warm again and after a couple of hours have been known to get up and get a hot water bottle and put on my bright pink bedsocks!! Being anxious will cause tension in the body and make his extremities colder. Has he mentioned it to the doctor? I think flannelette PJs, some thick hiking socks and sitting with his feet in a bowl of warm (not too hot) water just before bed time might help. Also an extra wheat bag for his feet. I would suggest an electric blanket but am not keen on those or one of those small sets of pedals you can use while sitting in a chair. I expect he couldn't manage those with his bad back though and he doesn't want to risk worsening it. I do hope they are quick with the scan results and can start to help him.

We have a busy week ahead of us and were saying how come there still aren't enough hours in the day despite not going out! OH has training to do as well as his meetings. I have to escalate my complaint about the holiday agent and find out about paying these cheques in as my paying in book has my my old bank branch details in! The DM wants us to subscribe again, yet we have a bookful of unused vouchers because they never provided the free delivery they promised so we couldn't use them. Now my laptop says it needs a new battery and so the list goes on! Hair appointment Tuesday and I have 2 online forms to fill in before that, OH's car is in for service and MOT on Wednesday and I have 2 lots of homework, 2 course sessions and a hospital remote meeting. A lot of early starts so no lying in and the window cleaner is due first thing tomorrow,

I expect it must be quite time consuming for Gill to teach Sandra what she will need to be able to do and then there is the money to sort again. I expect it will all change again when/if she is able to have her own flat.

We think the Crows and Jackdaws have ousted the Pigeons and most of the Magpies now. We have never seen so many Goldfinches and the big, black newcomers leave them alone as they are no threat. The little birds mostly sit in the close foliage and twigs of the Blackthorn tree as well.
