Island

Island Report 30 Sep 2020 12:50

I've been searching for the comments box then realised I wasn't signed in! LOL!

Afternoon all

I’m talking my time by using Word again :-)

Oh my giddy aunt! Why is incompetence rife these days and infuriatingly the only person we get to speak to isn’t at fault? Meds c*ck up. Grr. “Rant over” as they say LOL

Still feeling dizzy. I think it might be my eyes – I do have an ‘issue’.

AnnG, your poor OH, he must be exhausted and you too. I do hope the cause is successfully remedied soon so you can get your lives back on track.

Mel, my flu jab hurt too this time. Only once before has that arm been painful to lie on, I’ve offered my right arm since as I sleep on my left side but as sure as eggs is eggs I’ll turn over in the night – Yikes! I also felt a bit out of kilter after this one, which is unusual – the timing might tie in with me feeling dizzy too. Hmmm.....

Annx, I didn’t know lithops had long tap roots and mine were in small pots, might even have been bonsai dishes too with a few pebbles to make a ‘pretty garden’ scene. That’ll be why they shrivelled up then :-0

Nice to see you are ok Gill, I don’t know your story but hope you are all well and happy.

It’s a bit ‘nothing’ outside so the dog’s happy. He likes to be indoors with both of us in sight even though he’s spark out on the floor, ignoring us – he knows though. Fella has just left the room so dog is on hunt for him LOL

Thinking of Jane and hope today is kind to you.

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone ~~~~~~~~~~~

Island I always sleep on my right side so having it my left arms works ok for me. I never turn over inthe night unless oh gets up in the early hours and thats to time to stretch out over his side and get my arms on the cold bit. I have slept like that for years.

Sorry you're still a bit dizzy as thats not a nice feeling at all. Are you getting on with your WIP? and when can we expect a picture please?

Well the shopping still has'nt put in an appearance and they said they would ring this morning but we've heard nothing. Its so horrid when you don't know when its going to turn up. Its just as well we have a local shop or we would have been right out of milk. I think I may give them a ring.

Love to Jane and sending wishes for another comfortable day for you. <3 <3 <3

Just picked the meds up from the chemist, I walked round and of course it rained before I got back! the new meds are: Naproxene and Omeprazole. The latter obviously to protect his stomach from the former which is anti inflammatory.

His head is really bad today, he is spending most of the time in or on the bed.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Sep 2020 14:56

Anng I am on Omeprazole and they are good.

AnninGlos Report 30 Sep 2020 15:28

Let's hope they do the job.

Annx Report 30 Sep 2020 16:47

What great news that SANDRA is back where she belongs! I hope she continues to stay, as she may hanker for some different freedoms since being away. I expect she s just happy to be in a happier environment for now though. You will have been busy sorting everything out since she came back Gill.

I slept well last night, but seem to be more achey with my knee with the cooler weather. We still didn't get up till gone 10.00am though. OH is tired from his meetings but I have no excuse! It struck me as strange how we need so much sleep when OH's parents and my first OH's parents would be up at 6.00am all year round. :-S

Mel we were opposite this year in that we both said our flu jabs were painless this time and no hot bump after where they were done. I see that some places are running out of vaccine so I'm glad we got in early. I thought more would bother to get them this year. As you say, I suppose we can expect more aches and pains with our ages. :-S Hubby has liked the Ginsters cornish pasties for years now so I have had to order them too! With being at home with him and the tempting smell wafting around I have ended up ordering me the cheese and onion ones the last 2 times!! I hope you get to know when to expect your order soon.

Sorry you are getting these dizzy spells Island. Do you know what is the cause? I remember hubby having to do some eye exercises once when he was getting dizzy. It was something to do with his ears causing them. Your dog sounds lovely, wanting to keep you in view! :-D

Let's hope the new medication works better AnnG. It must be so tiring and a worry for you both at the moment as it has gone on so long now.

Raining here and very dull now. :-(

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 30 Sep 2020 17:02

Yes it is worrying and not helped by me having to have this blessed op tomorrow. He is irritable and I am on edge as well.

MillymollyAmanda Report 30 Sep 2020 18:56

Evening all,

It's been dry here until about five o'clock and then it started to rain ,got my shopping done though and wiped down then i've been putting some elastic in the waist of some school trousers for Katie ,she needs the length but then the waist is to big ,i've done one pair so she can try the on before i do the other pair .
Also made some more masks for the children and some for a few neighbours tooso been busy .

Gill that's lovely Sandra is home with you again ,does she still want her own place ?
You must have had a busy time sorting out all her things .

AnnG lets hope these new tablets can soon help your OH with the inflammation so the pain eases for him ,they will probably take a few days to get into his system .
Hope all goes well for you with your op tomorrow .

Ann we slept in a bit this morning too ,didn't even hear the bin lorry ,i like to go shopping early so we were a little later going but it wasn't very busy so that was good .
Oh you can't beat the aroma of a nice pasty i want one now LOL

Island sorry to read your having these dizzy spells it can't be very pleasant for you i hope they soon ease up for you .
Looking forward to seeing the work in progress :-)

Mel i forgot to say how lovely the sweet peas looked, a lovely splash of colour what a shame we can't get the nice perfume of them .
Hope your shopping has turned up or it will mean another messed up day waiting for it to come .

Love to Jane ,hope you've had a comfortable day with not to much pain <3

Hope you've had a better day with not so much rain Vera ,do you think it's the compost your using why your cuttings don't take as well ?
Is your foot any better or are you still using the chariot :-D

No Frank ,he had his scan today i think he said and hoped to have lunch out so perhaps he's tired .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Sep 2020 20:08

No the shopping did'nt arrive and now we have to wait until next week. They have refunded us the money. Its a nuisance having to get up early to get all the things done before the shopping arrives and wipe down all the surfaces.

Ann do you heat the pasties up? Oh won't eat hot pasties he likes them cold.

Mandy you have been busy making the masks for the children and altering the trousers for Katie. Have you made anything else lately?

Hope Frank got on ok with his scan today and had a nice time out and about for a change.

Anng hope it all goes well for your op tomorrow. What time do you have to be there?

Have we heard from Vera today? Hope she's not had an accident with her chariot.

I do hope Sandra is'nt playing Gill and hubby again and stays home this time.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 30 Sep 2020 20:27

Good evening all

I’m pleased to hear Sandra is back with you Gill. I expect you’re relieved about that. Fingers crossed that everything settles down now for all of you.

AnnG, I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow. I’m sure all will go well. When you get home afterwards just rest and relax as much as you can. I know that’s difficult at the moment with OH’s problems but hopefully the new meds will help. I have had Naproxen and found them very good, when ibuprofen do nothing for me. Did the doctor say whether he could take other painkillers with them? I was told to alternate them with my co-codomol for the most effective pain relief.

Mel, did you get your Asda order? I hope you did and didn’t get many subs. How’s the sore arm now? It’s strange how some years you hardly feel the jab and other times it can be quite painful. I’m having mine on Saturday.

Sorry to hear your knee is all achy Ann. I hope It’s been a bit easier today. I would love to sleep in till 10. It doesn’t seem to matter whether I have a good night or a lousy night I’m usually up by 8 and OH is the same.

I hope Frank’s scan went OK and that Jane has had a comfortable day.

Poor you Island. Dizziness is horrid. I hope it isn’t vertigo. Take care.

My foot is getting better everyday, thank you Mandy. It’s still a bit puffy and is an interesting shade of purple underneath and sort of dirt coloured on top but I can limp around the house now and I haven’t used the chariot at all today :-). I just wish I knew how it happened. Talking to son on the phone he thinks I must have broken a bone somehow but said if I had gone to hospital they wouldn’t have done anything except tell me to keep the weight of it till it got better. At least that was his experience a couple of years ago.

Thank you for all your suggestions about my penstemon cuttings. Mel, I took 8 at a time on 3 occasions. Some were put in little individual pots and others 4 or 5 round the edge of a pot. I used the same compost I always do. It’s a general purpose one and I mix in some extra grit for better drainage. I’m doing the same as I always have done. Never mind, I’ll just have fewer cuttings to donate to charity plant sales next spring and summer.

I just fancy some chocolate now but we don’t have any in the house and it tends to bring on a migraine anyway. Think I’ll have to distract myself by taking a look at the crossword in today’s paper. I hope you all have a good night.

EDIT. Missed you there Mel. I can’t believe you haven’t got your shopping. What are you supposed to do if you can’t get to a shop? Starve?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Sep 2020 21:15

I think thats right Vera. I told them we hav'nt any milk or bread. I did'nt say we had a shop up the road! All I had ordered is on next weeks list now but we have missed the saving on oh's coffee. It was £2.74 last week and on this list its £5 something.

Does it make any difference if its milk chocolate or plain with migraines?

Still not heard from Gill today.

I wonder what Island is making.........?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Sep 2020 21:18

Vera I always use square pots and put a cutting in each corner. I mix multi compost with pearlite and grit and get the cuttings right down to the bottom of the pot. You could always take some Verbena cuttings as they take very quickly even in water in my shed.

AnninGlos Report 1 Oct 2020 08:30

Good morning all, sun shining here, first of the month. Can't say I am looking forward to today but you know that.
OH is in the shower he said he'd be OK so I have to believe him, it is an over bath one so he has to get in and out of the bath.

Mel doesn't anyone else deliver in your area? Or is it too remote for them? Surely Asda should have made an effort to get there yesterday. Do sat navs work on your address?

BBL Two parts to today, get OH to Osteopath and then me to hospital might be back in between the two.

Vera not sure what the doc said about the meds, difficult with phone appointments.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Oct 2020 08:33

Morning all,

Pinch and a punch for the first of the month. Well thats September gone and now only two months to Christmas. I don't know where the year has gone. What I do know is there won't be many presents under the tree this year. I usually buy things through the year when I see them but with not going anywhere I am afraid the cupboard is quite bare this year.

Its wet wet wet here and raining steadily and miserable with it. Oh says we have this weather all the week.

Hope we hear from Frank today and that you ll had a resonable night and those with aches and pains are feeling better today.

My arm is not so sore this morning but last night I kept wanting to scratch it as it itched just under where she stabbed me.

Loves as always to Jane <3 <3 <3

Morning all

Just popped in to say 'Pinch punch' but I see Mel has beat me to it so......
White rabbits everyone :-D

Also to wish AnnG well. Just think about being snuggly back home having a nice snooze.

Mel, your 'war wound' is having it's moneys worth isn't it? :-0 Mine just hurt to lie on for three nights and I felt hard done by. I hope yours stops bothering you soon.

I'm think my dizzies are most likely caused by my eyes straining so I'm going to give the laptop a rest to see if that does the trick. New improved reading specs will probably help but I can't get to optician before the week after next.
I will send the WIP pics this morning though.

Frank Report 1 Oct 2020 10:49

Good morning all,

All O.K. with the scan. It's a cyst about 3mm round. She will send the results to the Dr.

I took Ros to the Motorbility (Well she took me)shop to look at the various models. One I liked was made from Alloy. Nice and light and easy to take apart and put in the car. The cost was £1,999.00 It had one of those Lithium Batteries, which are suppose to be the best.

We then went for a bit to eat, and was home by 2.30 pm. Did nothing during the afternoon, just read my book.

It looks like we will be going to Devon Tomorrow for a few days. I will try to remember to take the computer, so I can keep in touch.

Bed change today, so machine going like mad. There is NO DRY out side today, to it will have to go on the airer.

Hope you are all well, try to get back later. xxxx
