Afternoon Everyone,
Dry and a bit overcast here but still a bit humid but there is a slight breeze.
Lunch is almost ready, an Asda meal deal, but I've added some carrot, runners and courgette and we'll have the broccoli bake with fish tomorrow.
I want to get on with a letter to our holiday agent head office later to see if I can get them to get moving to sort out our holiday for next year! No confirmation from them and it's weeks now, no-one answering the phone and they haven't charged us the right price. Wish me luck! I also want to pickle another jar of cucumber now my arm is a lot better.

Afternoon all,
Lovely sunny morning and quite warm but there's lots of black clouds about now so I think we might be in for some rain .
Oh Vera that was a fiasco with OH :-D I could just hear the music in my head that they use to play when Benny Hill use to speed round and round when I was reading your post , has he been allowed out today :-D
Ann I pickled a cucumber yesterday never done one before so I'll wait to see how it turns out . I hope you can get some where with sorting your holiday out by writing to them ,is there any way to find out if they are still going or if they have gone down the swany.
AnnG that looked a lovely cake I bet it went down a treat with a nice coffee . Hope the weather's a little better for you today so you can have a trip out .
Mel how's Vincent doing with the master piece ? hope he's going to add a Bee or two on the sunflowers that would look nice .
Had my trip out for the day ...... a visit to the tip :-D just a bit of garden rubbish to get rid of and an old garden brolly.
Oh I meant to say the other day I picked a cucumber that was eighteen inches long and I have more about that length too.

Good afternoon all. Fairly bright, damp and breezy here. But it is usually breezy as it comes off the sea. We just had a trip out for lunch at a local farm cafe. I enjoyed my Whitby scampi and OH his ham and chips, both seniors meals and, as it is Tuesday further discounted. Full now. Not nice enough for walking so we are all in reading or on the internet.
Hope the wipe down goes well. Daughter is one of the brigade who don’t wipe down and never has.
Still no Gill?.

Afternoon Mel, Annx, Mandy and latecomers
I have an interesting 'plan du jour' Mel - I though 'du jour' would make it sound interesting LOL. When the rian has a break I'm going outside to measure one of the folding garden chairs with view to making it safer to sit on. It's all up there in the noggin so fingers crossed. What is 'donkey day'?
Annx, are you doing any online arty classes at the moment or anything lined up?
Mandy, I finally perfected the oblong crochet hexagon (och - aye) but.... I wanted six in different colours, same size hook, all dk - can't fathom why they've turned out different sizes. Decided to pick one colour - dark teal to contrast but the light indoors isn't good enough to see. Confused? I am :-S
I hope everyone is ok and the sickies recovering from poorliness.
I'm bagging ripe tomatoes in my t-shirt hem every time it's not raining. I won't mention my cucumbers other than I won't need to cut the crusts off the bread.

Good afternoon all,
Just to let you know I am O.K. Ros is out with Carolyn. I have prepared (if you can call it that) dinner for tonight. Liver and onions, with a tin of peas. Onions all sliced and in a pan ready for frying, Potatoes peeled and chopped, ready to boil, Liver to be sliced smaller, Ros likes thin slices. Peas open and in a saucepan. Nought more to do. lol lol
I have been in touch with the local Council, to see if we can get any help from them, for the drive repair, and the steps being removed, and a slope being put in with hand rails. The young lady I spoke to said there is a grant for people on Disability Allowance, which Ros is. So I am waiting for their reply.
Sorry that I haven't read any postings. NAUGHTY BOY !!!! I am still getting headaches from my fall, but I am pleased to say the BUMP, is almost gone and my BLACK EYES are getting back to normal.
I am so bored, not going out, or seeing anyone. What a routine, get up in the morning, Shower, get dressed, and sit around all day, eat when needed, sit again, until it's time for bed. And it all starts over tomorrow.
Looks like we are in for a good downpour, so I had better shut the conservatory door.
See you later. xxxx

Island I used to call shopping day Donkey Day as I used to have to get all mums shopping and ours too. It just stuck and was called that because of all the lugging around I had to do. If that makes sense?
I am interested to know what kind of garden chair you are going to make safer Island please? Can we see a pic of before and after? and I'd like to see your crochet please. I must try and send you some of the things I make but there is such a lot I don't know what to send!!
Did all the wiping down and we had a quick lunch. Only one sub and that was thick sliced baked ham instead of the Wiltshire ham so that was'nt too bad but I think I am catching something from some of you others who end up with more than one thing they thought they had ordered. I ended up with two Borsin cheeses instead of just the one. Its good they have a very long shelf life on them though so should be ok for two weeks at least.
I think I just may go into my craft corner and paint some stones. Oh has bought loads of acrylic felt tip pens and I though I would have a dabble.
Mandy there are two bees on the shed side already with the sunflowers and a dragonfly. They went on with the first lot of flowers he did. He's been out ther this morning but at lunch time it fell out of the sky and is still raining so I think he is now watching the back of his eyelids.
No Franky Boy yet today so hope he is ok. XX

Frank lifes been like that for us for a long while now. We don't go out much at all but find plenty to do in the garden to break the days up. If we can't get out there I do house work or crafts and oh usually goes in his study on the pc or has a sleep.

Ugh! I just nipped outside in a dry break to measure aforementioned chair and Holy Moley!!! the rain thrashed down! Luckily, I was under the awning and had a handy chair with me. Bit of a concerning moment as the puddle in the awning started to flow over, luckily there was a yard brush to hand to lift it. Pity I didn't have a bucket or watering can to collect the gallons of water. Lorks!
Frank, as Mel said - life is a lot like that for many of us. I can't say I want to go out with all this rain though.

Just back from the hospital. It was not good news There is no further treatment available for me now as the last lot of chemo didn’t help either. So from now I will be under the Palliative Care team. Lots to get our heads around so I will probably not be around for a day or so.

Sorry I haven't been on here for a while, Sandra is having yet more problems with her sister. They've got in touch with Social Services for help now, so I'm just waiting to see what happens next. She's got to have an assessment as she wants a place of her own but not in Leeds as she said it's to far away from her family and friends and she doesn't like living there as she doesn't know anyone.
I've been trying to help her over the last few days and be there for her. She rang me the other day after a row with her sister and had packed a bag and walked out. I managed to persuade her to go back as it was Sunday and she didn't have a plan. With the bonnet still being broken we can't check the oil and water so OH can't make another big trip until it's fixed. He's booked the car in for 26th August as the MOT is due a couple of weeks after that and if the bonnet is still broken the MOT can't be done, then he won't have any transport to get to work. So as you can see we have a few things to sort out.

Oh dear Gill you are going round in circles.
Sandra is obviously confused so hopefully social services will be able to help her. I wonder why this has happened now with her sister or is it sister’s partner that is the problem. I hope it works out for you all. Somewhere in assisted living is probably the answer and near you if possible.

First. I’m hoping our Jane has a peaceful night. It’s a lot to come to terms with but I am sure she will have all the support she needs from her lovely and loving family,
I’m intrigued to know what you are going to do with your garden chair Island. How about some before and after pictures? I had a smile at your plan du jour as OH had asked what we were having for dinner and I had told him plat du jour (i.e. I’ve no idea).
My goodness Gill you must feel as though you’re constantly going up ladders and down snakes at the moment. It does sound as though some form of assisted living may be the answer if there is anywhere available in a suitable location. Do you think Sandra would be able to cope with that? OH has a much younger cousin, now in his early 50s, who has a little assisted living flatlet and he gets on quite well.
Glad to know you’re OK Frank. I think life is pretty dull for most of us at the moment. I’ve been to the hairdresser and the chiropodist and neither of those were a pleasure what with masks and sanitizers and temperature taking. I’ve only been into a shop a very few times when absolutely essential and haven’t eaten out since February. I haven’t seen my son and family since last October. Still, we carry on and try to find something to laugh about.
I do have a treat to look forward to on Thursday. Our car was booked for service and MOT last week in March which of course couldn’t go ahead. It’s now booked in for Thursday but the garage are not yet picking cars up and bringing them back as they usually do. The place we use is quite a way from us and when OH takes it in he has no way of getting back, so daughter is picking him up and coming home with him for the day before taking him back late afternoon to collect the car. It’s good of her as she lives some 25 miles from us. Granddaughter is coming with her. I’ve checked and it’s OK to have one other family group indoors and we have plenty of space to distance. It will be so lovely to see them.
Mandy, I am cursing you. Since reading your post I’ve had that Benny Hill music going round and round my head.
I hope you get some joy from your holiday people Ann. It’s a bit concerning that you are not getting much response from them. I do hope they haven’t gone belly up.
So many firms are going to the wall at the moment. Round here we have all been devestated to learn that our local, family run independent department store is closing. They have four shops along the High Street: a general department store, a men’s clothing shop, a ladies’ clothes shop and a home wares shop. They have sold the home wares shop to another company in the same line but the other three shops are closing in December. Almost all our small independent stores have closed, there are no other department stores so if the time comes when we can’t drive to one of the bigger towns we will have to do everything online. On the plus side we are overrun with coffee shops and cafes. At the last count there were 81 places to get a cup of coffee!
My granddaughter rang me yesterday and she was all excited and bubbly as she had just learnt that her downgraded A-Level results have been upgraded again. I think it was all the government could do but it’s far from ideal. What a shambles. While we were talking she recommended a book she had just read and chatted to me about it. I just love it when the grandchildren (or at least the girls) talk to me as though we’re the same age group and tell me about books I should read and films I should see.
As usual I am rambling on so I’d better stop. Btw the plat du jour ended up as boring old cottage pie as I found some cooked mince lurking in the freezer.
