Morning Ann, Mel and all
It is soooo hot. We seem to be in one of the hottest areas at the moment. When I got up at 8 am the indoor thermometer was showing 30 deg. It would have been a bit cooler outside but was probably about 26 then.
Last Sunday we cancelled our distanced walk and drink with friends because of the heat and arranged to go today. Needless to say, that’s cancelled now. No way am I sitting outside a pub in the heat at midday.
Enjoy your haircut Ann. See you all later.

morning Ann Mel Vera and all
Perseids was a wash out here, will see what tonight brings.
Up at 6am with the dog jumping about and panting. Took him downstairs only for him to go straight to (one of!) his downstairs beds - little monkey! I think he was just too hot as it was 7'30 before he deigned to go outside. Catching up with sleep on the sofa isn't the best quality.
Bright sunshine here, I hope it doesn't get as oppressive as it did yesterday - I've still got the headache from that.
I haven't decided on my playlist for today yet.
AnnG - I'm nearly there with the elongated hexagon! Perhaps it was that which gave me the headache!
happy day all

Good morning all, BY GUM TISS VERY HOT OUT THERE. LOL LOL
I have been sitting on the patio in a bit of shade, reading yesterdays paper. Ros has very kindly bought out TWO jugs of iced water, which I have drunk. I had to come in to go to the loo, that's why I stopped and posted.
Tony just related a FUNNY STORY. A woman went to have her nails done, and the woman said to her,due to COVID I am doing your nails through the LETTERBOX. So the silly woman pushed her hand through the letterbox, to have her nails done.
With Lewis getting his degree, there will be a presentation. Ros, while out with Carolyn yesterday, found a very nice dress and jacket, that will be ideal. Lets hope when it happens the weather is fine, otherwise it will be an umbrella as well
Needless to say, I won't be going anywhere today. It's F & C night tonight, so no cooking either.
I'm a bit concerned with my right leg, and ankle. It hurts to put any weight on it, and had me awake a few times in the night. I will mention it to the nurse tomorrow when have my stitches out. I am finding bruises, that I didn't know I had, two on my shoulders, while in the shower this morning.
I telephoned Care and Repair this morning, they have an Email waiting to be sent to me, with a quote, for the drive and steps Hope you are sitting down, It's close to £700.00. So HARVEY will have to find time to do it for me. I will pay for the materials.
Try to stay cool my dear friends, and keep well supplied with liquids. xxxx

Good afternoon. Well that is the hair done, feels cooler round my neck now, it was a bit hot with the mask on but not too bad as they do have air con.
Frank, to be honest, that doesn't sound that expensive for fixing all that wants doing. £700 doesn't sound much these days as it will be a few days work I guess. Still if Harvey can do it and has the time you will save the money.

Afternoon all,
Have any of you melted yet gosh it is hot ,we went to sons this morning for a cup of coffee it's only the second time we've been in their garden the first time was Monday we haven't been in their house yet . They decided they were going to the Railway Tavern for a F&C lunch so we went to ,every where lovely and clean ,hand sanitiser as you go in and we were the only ones in there. Three large cod and chips ,three medium cod and chips , three children's meals and nine soft drinks £28 it was the eat in to help out meal deal all half price and grandad paid :-D
Frank that must have looked funny the women standing with her hands through the letter box ,it can take a while I think when they do your nails I should think her back was aching by the time she had finished having them done. There must be others who could price the slope for you Frank ,does Barry know any one ? as he gets about doing gardens he might have seen work that's been done and give you some names and phone numbers.
I had a dreadful night sleep ,still awake at two o'clock so I can now sympathise with some of you who have sleepless nights it was just so hot, I was waiting for the planes to start as we should have three nights of night flying from one of the American air bases I can't remember which one they said Lakenheath or Mildenhall, Vera they might be coming over your way too.
Phew no good I'll have to get another cold drink .BBL .

The antibiotics seem to be working for OH and he finally had a decent nights sleep last night, for the first time in over a month. He had a day off work today so didn't wake up until just before 9am, that's very late for him. I had a terrible night's sleep with the heat, so feel quite drained now.
We had flashes of lightening again last night so we didn't stand outside to see the meteor shower, it's on until 24th August, so if it's not lightening again, we may take a look tonight.
I've been busy doing the washing and pegging it out, just put another load out but there are clouds coming over and the sun's gone in. I hope it dries before the rain arrives as it's still quite warm out there.
OH's finally bought himself some new jeans, although he wasn't allowed to try them on in the shop, luckily they fit. He said it was far to hot in the car to take them back.
We've just found out our old neighbour, the lady who's 100 birthday we went to last year, she made it to 101, but unfortunately passed away of Coronavirus, along with 5 other people in the care home she was in. OH bumped into her daughter at the end of our street earlier and apparently she'd told another neighbour who said he's let everyone know, but he didn't tell us so we never went to the funeral. She passed away 23rd July. At least her daughter knows why we didn't make it to the funeral now, but we're not very happy at not being told. It's been quite a shock to us both.
Going to sort dinner out now, then settle down and watch a programme I've recorded.

So hot here too and no sign of any cluds in the sky apart from some very thin white ones to the north.
I have been outside the big arch as oh was mowing and came down and said there is a small bowl of damsons to pick. I came down with 16 and he brought down another two but they are a bit green one side and probably the ones I thought needed a couple more days.
Found another fan this afternoon in the lounge. It was covered in a platic bag and had been in the sun and whn I picked it up all the plastic broke up and stuck to me. I had a job to get it off my hands into the dustbin. It is a nice BIG fan though but not sure where to put it.
Anng your posts are coming up twice.
Mandy that was a good deal on the meal for all of you. Was it nice F & C? So that three of us having F & C's today. Nice to for grandad to treat you all.

I has rained but not enough to filll a teaspoon. The wind is getting up now but it must be coming from the south as it's warm, I wonder if it's the calm before the storm. Looking on the lightning app there's plentyy of flashing about.

Evening All,
Phew! What a hot day. The thermometer in here is showing 30 degrees now so I have the fan on. I fell asleep watching the Yorkshire farm in bed last night and slept through solid till 9.40am this morning so was late taking my tablets!
We haven't had any of the promised rain yet or any thunderstorms but may get them tonight. Even with watering the poor plants are wilting in the heat, even the heat tolerant ones.
That was a nice F&C surprise meal Mandy and I bet the fish was lovely with you being not too far from the sea. What a bargain for all that food too! We had F&C yesterday.
Gill I bet your OH is relieved he got some peace from his poor mouth hurting and a good night's sleep. What a shame about your old neighbour though. I always think it is a shame when someone reaches a good age then gets finished off by something like flu or this virus. :-( It wasn't very good that you didn't get to hear though.
Island I am looking forward to seeing the elongated hexagon! I was thinking that I only use excel spreadsheets now to keep track of my savings maturing! I wonder if your dog will have you up early again tonight some company!
Mel I don't know how your OH manages to do mowing in this heat. Is the hot tub in action? I was thinking this morning I could just do with your hot tub. :-D :-D
Frank Harvey is so good doing all these jobs for you. He can't be a youngster himself anymore. A lot of sons these days wouldn't be capable or willing. The quote doesn't sound expensive to me but it's always best to get more than one. When we moved here we had an extra car width of block paving added to our drive so we didn't have to park behind each other, as work times for both of us varied every day and we didn't want to be swapping cars round all the time. It was only the length of a car and cost £500 20 years ago.
I bet your neck does feel nice and cool now Anng. I wish my hairdresser had aircon as it would be awful in this heat with a mask on as you say..
I have another free zoom photography session tomorrow so have been jotting a few things down from my scribbled notes from what he taught us last time. At least I have found all the settings he was talking about now! I've enrolled for another of his courses in a few weeks that is about 5 sessions I think and we will get homework for that so I need to be able to find my way around!

Its still hot here and there's hardly a breeze. Had our fish and chips except it was pies and chips as oh did'nt think he wanted batter this week. He suffers with the fish shop batter, it gives him aches and pains. The lady who cooks in the fish van was beetroot red with sweat running down her face. I felt so sorry for her and then the generater ran out of juice so she had to come out and fill that up but when I next saw her her poor face was sooooo red and wet I went to my car as I thought I had one of those battery fans in there. I did but I had never used it and got it going and took it to her and said keep it till next week. It did the job and cooled her down but hse would'nt keep it and thanked me.
Oh has had his shower and I think I am going in in a mo as not doing much today I still feel so sticky.
As to the hot tub we hav'nt had it going. With the high winds we had a little earlier on we hav'nt touched it but I would'nt want it hot anyway. We seem to use it more when its colder! I must admit I keep looking at oh's pond and wonder if I coud have a swim with the fish!! Em's boys have had a lovely time with the pool we gave them when oh made his pond deeper we kept his big koi in it and had no use for it afterwards. SAm could'nt swim then and its only the last two years they have used it but its been a god send in the lock down and we can hear the boys having a whale of a time in it.
Mandy you hav'nt had your pool up this year have you?

Well that's the watering done now I need to water myself phew it's so so muggy I do wish we could have just a little rain to cool things down . We're sitting outside catching what little breeze there is .
No Mel we haven't bought a new one if you remember last year we had someone come over the wall in the night and slashed the hole the pool so we had to dump it ,we were going to buy a other this year and then the coronvirise struck and family couldn't come round so there didn't seem any point in putting one up ,now with this heat we wish we had but I don't think it's worth it now ,hopefully we can get a bargain when they sell them off .
Thought you would have been in the hot tub you don't have to have it heated ,nice cool bubbles just the ticket in this heat .

Good morning all,
I've not readte posts, as I am just getting into the shower. I woke this morning with BLOOD all over the pillow case, and it had soaked through onto the pillow. That lump I said I had beside my stitches, decided to BURST during the night. Ros has them in the sink, in soak, if it doesn't come outside will buy a new pillow. The thing is she only bought this one last week. !!!
Will check back in when Ive had my stitches out. xxxx

Happy Birthday to you.
Moning all,
Hot here again and we had a very short sharp shower last night before I went to bed and then a bit more when I went. It was still so hot out there though. I stood watching the lightening for a while. It was going right across the sky and travelled from west to eat but we had no thunder just flashes every few second.

Morning All,
:-) :-)HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNG :-) :-)
I hope you enjoy your day and I hope my card has arrived.
None of the forecast rain here. :-( Like Mandy OH was boiling after watering last night. We sat outside till late as it got a bit cooler. Woke up 3 times in the night feeling quite hot.
Ready for my zoom session now with the tower fan blowing on me. All the windows and the patio door and back door are open to let in the cooler air before it hots up again!
Yes I wondered why you didn't use your hot tub on a cooler setting Mel. My showers have been so cold OH jumped back again when he followed me in!! :-D
What a mess Frank! Do you think the wound is infected? I always use Biotex to soak stains in.
