Frank I don't think I have had anything about seniors or magpies. Liked the list though as I said on the reply e mail.

Good morning all, slept reasonably well, woke at 0530 then just drifted in and out of sleep.

Mandy good news re the test, I am sure you are all very relieved but best to check and be sure.

Mel, enjoy your rest day. But I bet you find something to do.

Vera well done on pushing yourself to go to the shop, it is daunting but most people seem to be sticking to rules. some have lost the ability to judge distance but they say you have to be near for 15 minutes to catch anything so moving away sorts it I think.

I have found out from people who work in the hospital that they should let T in to wait with me because of my hearing problem and everyone who has visited has said it is very well organised and safe feeling. So that makes me feel less stressed about it.

Bed change today and roast chicken to cook, nothing else to do I think. Up late and showered and hair wash so better go and get some breakfast.

Morning Mandy and all,

We have bits of blue sky but asyou say Mandy the clouds are rushing by. Suns peeping through here too and its a bit windy.

Think it may be too wet to go up the border if it dos'nt rain today so will have to find something else to do. Craft desk always needs a good tidy up and dust and I could always get the hoover out but I do need towahs my hair.

Cloudy and threats of rain today :-( We're having our upstairs neighbours in this morning for a C of C which will be nice. They're a lovely professional couple in their fifties and, among other things, we keep an eye on each others property when we're away. They'll even have Abby for us if we can't take her and have said that if we couldn't look after her anymore they'd take her on permanently ! Mind you daughter has said the same, so lets hope it's never an issue!!!
Oh yes Mel there is certainly a difference between ulcers and abscess's! An abscess is more tricky an can lead to tooth loss. I've had periodontal disease for years and lost three teeth as a result of not getting on top of it properly! I've now got a brilliant hygienist and between us have managed to stabilise the rest of my teeth! At the moment of course she's unavailable which is why I rang the Practice over this ulcer, but apparently so long as I continue the routine it should be ok! What a worry these wretched teeth are!
Glad your family test was negative Mandy, one less thing to worry about!
Hope people feeling under the weather are feeling better, and that you all have a good day whatever you are doing.
:-)

Morning all

The garden got a good soaking last night with heavy rain and hail :-0 I've done a tour and see no damage. Flowers on the dwarf beans and a one inch cucumber - best not cut the crusts of that sandwich then!

I'll catch up later when my eyes have woken up LOL

Have a good day

Morning all

A bit cloudy here but no rain and it's quite warm. Thankfully we didn't have the thunderstorm in the end, which I'm pleased about. I really don't like them.

What wonderful news Mandy, I'm so pleased the tests came back negative, that'll be a worry off everyone's mind now. They came back quickly didn't they?

P.S to Gill. If you don't get any joy anywhere you can also go onto the NHS site and put in the particular problem that's troubling your OH's teeth and see what advice you can get there. As Mel said, Corsodyl usually does the trick. You can buy it at any chemist or any Supermarket..
The door bell's ringing!! I'm off!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Jul 2020 11:51

Corsodyl is very good, however I do prefer the mint one as the original is not a pleasant taste.

Sorry Mel, it was not you having a rest day it is Mandy!!!

We didn't see Annx yesterday, hope she was just engrossed in her craft work (I think she had a zoom meeting) and is not poorly.

Gillx Report 26 Jul 2020 15:44

I've got sunshine now, but the wind has picked up so it's not very warm, I got cold sitting outside so decided to come in and watch a bit of TV. It looks like my Aunt is on again at 4.15pm on BBC.1 if anyone wants to watch her. I watched it again and noticed my other Aunt was there when the reveal was done in her home, so that's two of my aunts on TV ;-)

Love the pics AnnG, your produce looks yummy :-) :-)

I've let OH know of all your advice and he'll buy some Corsodyl tomorrow when the Chemist is open. Thanks FG for your advice if the dentist can't help on Tuesday, which he should as he has a duty of care to his patients, then he'll take a look on the NHS site.

Pleased there was no damage to your garden with the rain and hail Island. Our garden is a very windy site so I check our garden after the high winds. We have a pot garden (about 500 pots in total) so our problem is mainly the pots falling over, most of them are wedged together or if that's not possible we've put heavy rocks and concrete edgings around them, with having so many pots you can't see the bottoms of them, so only know the rocks etc.. are there if you're up close to them. Our garden is quite long, almost 90 foot, so we don't go down the bottom of it very often. OH's cousin called around the other week and said it looks like a show garden, I was well chuffed LOL. :-D :-D :-D

No gardening for you today Mel, by the sounds of the weather you have. Have you got any crafts on the go at the moment?

It sounds like Abby is very popular FG, am I right in thinking she's a dog, sorry if I've got this wrong. :-S :-S

Garden Rescue's on so I'm going to carry on watching it now. I don't have much left to watch on my Sky planner and fancy watching a bit of gardening for a change.

Annx Report 26 Jul 2020 16:11

Afternoon Al,

Sunny but windy here after sharp showers last night.

That is great news that both tests were clear Mandy. It would have been difficult for Lewis or his mum to keep from spreading it to the others. I hope it stays dry for your shopping tomorrow, but I think we are due some rain.

I tried posting last night AnnG but lost the post along with the will to do another!

Thanks for the info your dentist advised FG. It's tricky to know what is best really as mine seems to be a small, smooth abscess that doesn't hurt much anyway and then only if I press it. It seems to get a bit bigger then almost disappear! I was told to avoid mouthwashes with alcohol in so check that Gill. I have gum disease and bone erosion like Mel It is well controlled now and salt water reduces any gum swelling as well as being a good disinfectant according to my dentist. What I'm sure I don't do often enough is disinfect my toothbrush though!! We have separate tubes of toothpaste which I have read is recommended as toothbrushes can transfer bacteria. I could never share a toothbrush like some do!!!

Gill I watched the prog with your Aunt in and she does seem to be a cheerful lady! I loved her house, which as the artists said was very well organised and tidy. Very light and airy too which I liked. I was interested to see wool felting as well as fused glass as I have tried doing both myself! The 2 pieces that were made for her were both really lovely and very clever to fit what she asked for. I would have liked the glass one myself! :-D What a shame your OH is having to suffer so much pain. It is worth trying anything suggested to help him though. It might be worth him using an extra pillow to keep his head a bit higher at night.

It sounds like your trip to Sainsbury's helped and has made you feel a bit better Vera which is good. Neither of us have been inside a shop yet or met up with any friends since March, but in my case I am just wary about what other other people do out there.

I see they are considering whether we should wear gloves when we go out. I wore them to the garden centre and OH wore them to the tip. I suspect the virus may not stick to gloves as well as it does to skin.

I picked 2 cues this morning and a courgette and OH said he counted 22 little cues yesterday! All thanks to Mel and the extra feed they get now!! :-D

I couldn't submit my painting for the exhibition after all. When I read the full details it was only open to people living in the city! Typical of our city council. I mean where else charges county dwellers extra for using one of their leisure centres?

I made a nice lamb mince (typo there as I put mice first!) lasagne yesterday, enough for 4 really, but we went back for seconds and ate the lot as it was so tasty.

Better get on and unpack and put away some bead supplies that came! The company is closing at the end of September so have little left but they are 85% off!! It is Nosek's Just Gems.

Gill, you're very welcome and I'm glad to have been able to help. Corsodyl is a very useful addition to your medicine cupboard for any mouth infections. There'll be instructions with the bottle so you'll be fine! Hope hubby feels better soon.
Yes Abby is our West Highland Terrier. She's 5 years old and a real poppet. Easy to look after, doesn't need a lot of exercise, very affectionate and extremely perky!! Everyone loves her particularly us!! We live right opposite a park, so giving her a twice daily run is no problem and does us good too!
Talking of walks??!!!!

flappergirl Report 26 Jul 2020 16:42

Gill, Annx has a point there!! I've just checked my new bottle of C and it says on the label that it is 'alcohol free.' My last one which I now use for Abby as it's out of date didn't say, but I don't think it did. Best to be sure though!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Jul 2020 16:50

Annx isn't it a real pain when you lose a post.

That really surprises me about wearing/not wearing gloves. I used to wear them before lockdown and also when unpacking groceries. Then I read an expert who said that if you wear gloves you just transfer germs with the glove from one surface to another. I do wish they could be more definite. I also saw some shopkeepers saying they didn't want people wearing gloves in their shops.

Shame about the painting, when they have residents day here we are entitled to a card, I suppose we are 5 miles from Gloucester.

what you have on your gum sounds like what we used to call a gum boil. I hate abcesses, that is how I lost my front teeth when I was 21.

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Jul 2020 17:33

Thanks for mentioning the alcohol and not to use it Ann. I'm writing everything down so I don't forget anything, many a time I've tried to find a post with info on I wanted to check and couldn't find it, so I'm playing it safe this time.

I'm so sorry to hear you couldn't enter your painting in the exhibition, fancy the council only allowing people within the city to enter, that seems unfair doesn't it, it's not like you're a million miles away and charging extra for using one of their leisure centres is just plain daft.

Before I forget Ann, I don't know if you noticed but episode 4 of "Home is where the Art is" was cancelled because of Covid, or so I've been told, but they are showing it on Monday BBC.1 at 3.45pm, it's the Leicestershire one, I'll be watching it. The artists will be making a piece to celebrate a rescue dog who had a tough start in life. So hankies at the ready I think.

I've noticed there's a series link on it, so whether they'll be showing the first series again I don't know, it would be nice if they did. Yes, my aunt has a lovely place, I didn't realise how similar we are with keeping everything tidy and in boxes and baskets, I'm the same with my material and craft things. She even puts elastic bands around the boxes, like me.
Can you tell we're from the same family lol. :-D :-D

I love West Highland Terrier's FG, they are so cute. How lucky for Abby to have a great place to walk and just across the road to.

I didn't know about the gloves AnnG, I find some of the rules a bit confusing as they keep changing their minds, so you don't know what to do for the best do you.

Olivia de Havilland has died aged 104. Mum used to like her. I think she was in Gone With The Wind and many other old films.

Hoovered the kitchen and dining area and went out to do a bit of cutting back on the bit outside the kitchen window. Thought I would go and get my very small battery hedge trimmer. Went in the uti room to fetch it and found it and the charger but no battery!!!!!! Now what have I done with that. Anyway while looking in the cupboard where I keep it I moved a couple of things to see if it was in there and there was a tin of gloss paint in there which must have been in there years. The bottom had gone of the tin and it had leaked rusty brown goo all on the shelf which had then run under a wooden box I have in there for a shelf. Managed to prise the box off the shelf and tried a bit of Cif on the goo and it cleared a lot of it off but I went out and got a scraper and got the rest off and then cleaned the rest up with the Cif. By this time I had lost heart with the gardening and it started to rain so I am still without the battery and did'nt get done what I wanted.

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Jul 2020 20:04

At least your cupboard is clean now Mel, although you could of done without having to clean up the goo, so you could of found your battery. I hope you find it and can tackle the garden when the rain has gone and the sun comes out again. I was hoping to do some gardening tomorrow, but looking at the weather it's going to rain all day, so that's put paid to that.

Annx

Annx Report 26 Jul 2020 22:31

Well I've lost a post AGAIN! I must just skim a key or something with the palm of my hand!

Yes, there is still confusion about what we should do about some things. Do fabric gloves transfer less virus than hands? Or do hands transmit more than gloves, but because we (should) be washing/sanitising them often, they are safer? I suppose they are looking at all these things. I still can't see why masks need washing, if you have enough masks and few enough trips to let them decontaminate for 3 days before wearing again?

What a horrid job cleaning that gunge up Mel, but at least it's done now. I hate finding things like that in cupboards and it's usually on an awkward to get to bottom shelf.

Gill thanks for mentioning the Leicestershire episode. I shall be interested to see if I recognise the street/house! I use old shoeboxes for some craft stuff and yes, use rubber bands round them too! :-) I need to either finish or abandon some of my beading projects as I have too many boxes with half finished things in them! I also seem to have a lot more paper around, (still to be sorted), than your aunt!

I'd better go now before I lose this post! Busy morning tomorrow as I have a free online beginner's art session at 9.00am, so I think with my lie ins lately I'd better set my alarm! OH has to get up early too as he has to unlock the side gate for the window cleaner in case he comes.
