good morning, cloudy bright here at the moment, don't think we have had any rain although some is promised today, tomorrow and Saturday.
Had a good sleep, we turned the mattress yesterday so it was very firm again our end, probably why we slept, OH didn't toss and turn as he was tired from golf.

Vera, hope you are not getting anything if you were shivery, have you been to your local shop lately? Maybe a cold bug from there. Stay in and stay warm today. It has been colder overnight, didn't you say you had changed the duvet for a lighter one? Maybe you did that too soon.

Mandy I have been up the post van!!!so look out for a parcel. There's no note inside but I think you'll get the gist of the things sent. Two for Max and one for the Christmas hamper and a tiny one for you.

Anng pleased you both had a good nights sleep after turning the mattress. Did you say oh has 18 holes today? Hope it dos'nt rain for him if he has.

Vera do you feel better now you're up and warmer? Perhaps as Anng said you changed the quilt too soon although it has been much colder at night.

Mandy you made me laugh about growoing spuds in the dust!! I could do that here too. I don't knwo where it all comes from.

I have little toms on my plants now as I did'nt get them till late but they look good even if they have got greenfly. I shall have to move them out and give them a good spray with the hose.

Hungry now so off to get something to shut my gurgling up.

Hi all.. :) l remember playing with candle wax with my oldest sister Margo, we would make flowers, great fun... :)

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 11 Jun 2020 11:55

Hello Jude. Good to see you on here. I don’t remember ever playing with candle wax, just plasticine that always ended up brown. If we had to be indoors I always seemed to be reading, but most of the time we all played out in the street. We had skipping games, ball games, various versions of tag; my favourite was Release. It really was an innocent time.

I know it sounds odd but although I was shivery last night I was also quite warm. I’ve got cellular blankets folded across the bottom of the beds so they can just be pulled up if we need extra warmth. I decided this morning that perhaps I would feel better with a bit of fresh air and exercise so I started out for a walk but I’d only walked for 5 minutes before it rained again so I turned back. By the time I got home I was soaked.

Mandy, you reminded me of something that my Dad used to say when I was young. If I came in grubby from playing he’d say “Look at your hands. You could grow spuds under those nails”. Happy times :-)

Frank Report 11 Jun 2020 12:25

Good Afternoon to you ll,

Rain here, it started but 10 minutes ago, and looks like it's set in for the day.

Ros changed the bed this morning, all washed and on the airer in the conservatory. It WILL dry, sometime. She's just gone to get some money out, for the plumber who is coming to service the boiler tomorrow morning. She will also go to the hospital, to get a new supply of haring aid batteries. WHAT DID YOU SAY. lol lol

Would you ADAM AND EVE IT. She has only bought me NONE ALCOHOLIC BEER. I don't know what she's trying to tell me. !!!! But she will get me some normal beer this afternoon.

I slipped and banged my head, in the shower this morning. I hit my head on one of the grips I use, to stop me falling over, It would have to have hit my SCAR. Now I am nursing a nice headache.

How are you all coping with the LOCKDOWN. ?? I see some of the restrictions are being lifted on Saturday. It will be nice for people who live alone, to meet and greet their families. xxx We haven't heard when Conrad will be returning to Spain. At the moment he is still selling properties through the agents, so not all bad.

The scab on my knee is starting to come away, so it won't be long before that is fully healed. Thank goodness, as it's getting very itchy.

I am feeling so lethargic, I don't want to do anything, not even the cooking, which is so not like me. Ros is very understanding, and says. The fall I had was a big shock to my system, and she understands it will take time to get over it.

I keep picking up my book, for a read, but soon get bored, and put it down again.

Time for my tablets and a coffee, so will love and leave you. Take care and love to you all. xxxx

Hello Jude, nice to see you on here. Have you visited the Welsh thread Shaun would be pleased to see you.

I do remember playing with some kind of wax that could be made into things like plasticine, Not sure if it was when I was young or if it was the cjhildren in the 60s.

No Mel, 18 holes tomorrow although he may not go if it is wet. Good job he is not playing now as it is raining. As it is he is in the garage fixing a golf trolly for somebody but I am not happy as although he tells me they are social distancing I am not sure I can believe him.

Vera do you feel any better? Maybe it was just a migraine that didn't materialise.

Frank how do you slip in the shower? Do yo not have a non slip shower mat? You should do given that you always seem to hit your hear when you fall. did you slip or have a dizzy turn? You do worry us you know. Please take care.

Got the dusting all done and like you said Mel i don't now where it all comes from .
Thank you i'll keep an eye out for the post ,it seems to take a lot longer when you post things for them to arrive now but understandable as things are at the moment .

Hello Jude :-) i don't remember playing with Candle Wax but do remember playing with plasticine at school it was kept in a wooden box and had a funny smell and once mixed together it was all a yucky brown .

Oh Vera shame you got rained off on your walk ,the clouds are building here now and it's looking more like rain .

Ouch Frank your poor head i bet that hurt you don't want to be opening that scar up again .

I have filled some big pots and put the Lettuce ,spring onion and radish seeds in i just need to make a cover of some sort up to protect them a bit .

AnninGlos Report 11 Jun 2020 14:50

raining here this afternoon. I cleaned the bathroom and OH steamed the floor. Not done much else except close a few tiny moth holes on a golf sweater. I dusted lounge, dining room and bedroom yesterday, don't do that two days running :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Jun 2020 15:23

It just fell ot of the sky here and stopped oh after only taking one nut off the mower. He came in with a long face saying I did'nt come and rescue him. Silly old fool.

Mandy lettuce, radish and spring onions should'nt need a cover over them now its June. The radish may bolt if you do.

Frank I think you really need to take thing carefully at the moment , well all the time really as it seems to me that you are having many more falls lately. You still rubbing the cream in? have you not got a shower seat???? We have one that oh uses soemtimes but not often but its there if he needs it. we don't have any rails in the shower to hold on to.

Vera is'nt it always the same just when you need a bit of fresh air and exercise and decide to go "Down came the rain!"

I used to play with candles when I was young. Mostly down the caravan on a rainy day when I could'nt go out and play. A candle would keep me quiet for a long while making little gutters for the wax to run down with a match stick. I did make some paper flowers and dip those in wax which used to make them look like real flowers. Mum used to make a lot of crepe paper flowers when I was young and I found some of her patterns and papers when I was clearing some stuff out.

I always say we make a lot of dust because we both wear cotton clothes and have cotton sheets and fleeces. Fleeces shed like made. well oh's do as he wears charcoal coloured ones and the bathroom if a white suit and on top of the cystern there is alway dark grey dust and fluff. Towels shed a lot too and my hovver blows out a load I think. Wish I could use my dyson................

Gillx Report 11 Jun 2020 15:42

It's sunny here after a very wet start to the day. There's still a few dark clouds around so I should think we're in for more rain soon.

Love all the pictures you've sent. The mice are so cute Ann and your garden is lovely Mel, it must keep you and your OH busy all the time to keep it looking so nice. Pity about the clover in your lovely lawn. Will you dig it out and put grass seed down?

Sorry to hear you've had another fall Frank, I hope you're okay now. That was nice of you and Ros to bow your heads as Jean was taken away. Very respectful.

Just found out oh is an expert in sanatary towel insinarators. I have never heard of them or seen one. He insists they were in every female public toilet as he is also an expert on that subject as well. He said he was called nearly every day to a fire in the ladies toilets due to this machine!!

Mel,

Our school was certainly a fume-filled place at times, because of the use of those contraptions.
Not sure if Fire service was ever called, but it would certainly have set off a few alarms, if we'd had smoke detectors then.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 11 Jun 2020 19:42

I remember them and the horrible smell

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 11 Jun 2020 20:38

I don't remember those incinerators at school. A school of 600 11-18 year old girls would have needed something!

Loved the photos of the birds and especially the little mice Ann & Mel and AnnG's empty fruit bowl made me smile.

Frank, not another fall and bang on the head! What are we going to do with you? If you haven't got a rubber mat you really must get one. They're easy to get hold of and come in all shapes and sizes. I've got a couple and I expect most of the others on here have them too. I can just imagine your face when Ros gave you non-alcoholic beer :-) Have you tried one yet? It might be better than you think. What sort of beer do you like? My OH is not a lager fan, he likes a bitter and has just had a pack of 32 bottles of "1845" delivered.

Ann, it might not be the weather for sitting in a garden tomorrow but you would probably be alright to meet your friends if you are all sensible and careful. When our friends - another married couple - came round last Wednesday they came into the garden through the side gate and sat at the far end of our garden table, which is nearer 3 metres than 2. We then came out of the house through our lounge patio doors and sat at the house end of the table. Instead of making tea, the men had bottled beer and we two ladies had canned soft drinks and we went over them with wipes that I provided. I had a plate of cakes but had wiped tongs for picking them up and our friends had bought their own hand gel. It sounds a bit of a performance but it really wasn't and we all felt safe. It made such a difference seeing and chatting normally to someone else. Even OH said how relaxed he felt when they went.

Gill, am I going barmy? The answer to that is probably yes :-D I am sure I saw something earlier about you not being very well and having an abscess on your tooth. Now I can't see it anywhere. If you have got an abscess ring your dentist in case there is someone manning the phone or they may have diverted calls to the dentist at home. If not, try ringing 111 for advice because you may need to have some antibiotics and they may be able to arrange something for you. If you are poorly then I hope you feel better very quickly and if I just imagined all this you had better send for the men in white coats ;-)

Right, I am now going to do a bit of online banking. The window cleaner and the newsagent who delivers our papers need paying and I need to transfer some birthday money to a granddaughter who turns 20 tomorrow.

I hope you all have a good night. See you tomorrow.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 11 Jun 2020 20:58

No Vera you are as sane as I am and that is saying something. I saw that in Gills post as well. Gill did you delete part of your post to confuse us oldies. I too thought you ought to get antibiotics if it is an abscess .

Seven of us still went out this evening for a short get together in place of the clapping, about twenty minutes, it was good to see and talk to people.

I actually took my tape measure today and pulled it out and locked it on one metre. Then measured two. I can admit that chatting Thursdays we are mostly not all two metres apart. But I think that is why they leave it at two knowing that mostly it is safe at one. Especially outside. People have trouble estimating distance.

I thought i was dreaming as i had read Gills post and then saw that some of it had gone and was going to say Gill that some Dentists are now opening and were doing emergency appointments ,we had an e mail from our dentist today saying they were now open and would get in touch at a later date as they would only be treating those that had had problems first .

Gill also mentioned about her carpet having a lump and she thought it was the under lay .

AnnG thats a sad looking fruit bowl :-( :-D we always have plenty of fruit as we eat fruit every day with cereal or as a pud ,Colin always eats an apple a day .

Friday tomorrow were has the week gone again .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Jun 2020 21:41

Well I am glad I was'nt the only one who did'nt have them at school. We did have bins but no incinerators. Happy birthday to your 20 year old grandaughter Vera. give her my love for a wonderful day.

I think I saw a post Gill had made about her oh's tooth playing up again.

Its been pouring most of the afternoon here so rain stopped play once again for oh.

He cooked tonight ready meals plus home cooked egg fried rice and it was all very tasty and now I am completely full up.

Just getting dark here and I have shut the chickens in so I am going to watch a bit of telly now.

Hoping Jane had a good day today. Thinking of you and sending wishes and hugs. <3
