thanks for the PM Mel.

SuffolkVera Report 17 Oct 2019 15:59

Afternoon all

Jane, I was so sorry to hear the sad news of your friend. It must be a comfort to you to know that you saw her when you did and didn’t put it off. She is at peace now and you must cherish the memories of happy times together.

You have got a very quick appointment for your endoscopy but that’s better than having weeks to worry about it. I hope all goes well. Thinking of you <3

Sorry to hear you felt a bit poorly again Gill. I hope you are feeling a bit better now. You do always seem to be very busy. Do you think you get a bit overtired? I am also sure the bits you need for Sandra’s lights will be available on Amazon. There’s very little that isn’t available on that site.

Frank I am sure you will be pleased with your AstroTurf. Years ago it used to look really plasticky and fake but the modern stuff is very good. Our neighbours have it and are very pleased with it.

Your poor OH must be so uncomfortable with his bug/infection Mandy. I hope the creams and potions do the trick.

We went into town this morning and when we got back one of the neighbours told us that bl....y alarm had gone off again and had beeped for ages before it stopped. So we had to go and reset it again!! We did have a little bit of sun this morning so I think OH’s theory is probably right about the sun on the conservatory door. I am delighted to say it is raining at the moment.

OH has been to Tesco to fill the car up as we had a 10p a litre off voucher and the fuel warning light came on this morning. He’s just putting the car in the garage so I had better go and put the kettle on.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 17 Oct 2019 16:20

That Tesco offer is well worth it isn't it Vera, as our normal weekly shop is usually round about that amount it is no effort to qualify for the voucher. So our car is full now too.

Not long before the neighbours return now, hope they bring you a present for your frustration!!!

Frank

Frank Report 17 Oct 2019 16:21

Well I am on here at last. GOOD AFTERNOON ALL,

Was at the Drs. this morning, she wants me to have a ECG as I am getting niggerly pains in my chest. Regarding the new tablets, she said other people will see the change in me before I feel it. 4/6 weeks. Ros said she has noticed I am not so BAD TEMPERED. So there's an improvement. lol lol

Sorry about you friends death Jane, but as I said before, it would be a good thing if she just passed away in her sleep. Bless her. RIP.

We went round to Carolyn's this morning. This new turf looks amazing, Gawd knows what it must have cost. There is so much left over, for us to use, and Harvey said if there is any left over (which there will be) he will have it, to take to France and put around his caravan. He will come up next weekend, to pick it up from John's. I don't know if or when he will start on the lawn.

We had a good down pour this afternoon, just as we were putting everything back in the car. We emptied it, thinking we would get the Astroturf in the back. (SILLY BOY) The rolls are FOUR METRES WIDE, so when rolled up wouldn't fit in our little car.

There is never a policeman around, when these silly people do such dangerous things, while driving a car. I am afraid, I think they need a hard lesson to be handed out to them. It's not what they might do to themselves, but the poor innocent driver or pedestrian. Which reminds me. I bought a dash cam to go in Ros's car. I must get it fitted. I see on these police programmes, that the police rely a lot on other driver's dash cam films.

The sun is so strong through the conservatory windows, that I am having a job to see what I am doing. So I will bid you all a good afternoon, and trust you are all well. My regards to Colin, Mandy. He must be very uncomfortable. Tell him DON'T SCRATCH HIMSELF. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

MillymollyAmanda Report 17 Oct 2019 18:41

Evening all,

It's been a nice day here lots of sunshine this morning but a bit cloudier this afternoon .
We took all our tubs of garden rubbish to the tip this morning .i've now filled another with all the Lobelia that has passed it's best ,the Begonia's are still flowering but we had a frost this morning i could see it on the shed roof when i got up so i can't see them lasting much longer if we get to much frost .

Jane that's good you have the appointment tomorrow ,the sooner you know what's what the sooner you can get some treatment to make you more comfortable ,at least you won't be hanging about as it's first thing in the morning ,i hope you get on ok <3

Hope you have got what you need to do the lights Gill, Amazon seems to have everything so i'm sure you'll find what you need and get it delivered quickly .
Hope your feeling a little better now ,is it that you got a bit worked up because of the problems lights ?

Ann i had to smile at your comment about the " twitch " in OH's eye :-D but how rude was that woman trying to do your cross word :-0

Not to long to wait then Mel before you get your new girls ,have the two new ones laid yet ?

AnnG ,no no change in washing powder , shower gel or shampoo so goodness knows where he picked it up ,we're still waiting to hear from the doctor as to what bug it is but haven't heard yet today so might have to give them a ring tomorrow .
The cream does seem to be helping it 's not quite so red and fierce looking now .
Your tomatoes did well ,i have a few left in the green house ,some quite big ones but i don't know if they will turn red now .

Oh no Vera you'll be glad when your neighbours are home ,it does sound as if it might be the sun ,i had to smile at you being delighted with the rain :-D

So the doctor is getting you sorted then Frank, and with Ros noticing your not so bad tempered it does sound as if the new tablets are beginning to help.
Can you get some one to pick up the Astro turf for you ? ,i don't suppose it matters if there are lots of smaller bits of turf if they can be all fitted together , you don't see the join any way ,we'll have to have a photo when you've had it laid down .

We're off to Makro tomorrow with son and DIL so i need to make a list .

Evening All,

Dull morning here but the sun came out this afternoon. OH's eyes were good which he was pleased to hear after all the lasering he had last year. He needs new glasses though as one eye had changed a bit. I managed to book a test for me but they can't see me till the 29th. Usually it's within a week.

Crikey it does sound like they had a cancellation Jane, but less time to be thinking about it so good in that respect and that it's early in the morning. I seem to remember OH's took about 20 minutes, so not long and he had one without sedation so he could drive straight after. I still have to smile when I remember sitting in a waiting room with him for his first one, a few weeks after he had a colonoscopy, and him saying 'I hope they don't use the same tube'. lol. :-)

Thanks for that Mel, I'll tell her tomorrow, also about the best food to use as she was wondering about that too. Those naughty old girls take a while to accept new ones don't they? I expect they will lose interest in these 2 new ones once there are newer ones to try and reject!

Yes it was fungal infection that OH had. I asked him last night Mandy was it still gone and his reply was that he could confirm 'there is no longer any activity in the underpant area'. Well what could I say to that!! lol. :-D :-D

Frank you will be spoiled with this new turf and want the back lawn doing next! It's good you were able to see the finished result too. It sounds like the doc is being very thorough and that the new tablets are beginning to work even if you don't realise it yet!

Sorry you aren't well again Gill and hope you soon feel better. You seem to be getting a lot of headaches and I wonder if you have had your BP checked for a while? They will check it at Lloyds chemists and maybe other chemists now as well as at the docs, so it might be worth having it checked if you haven't had it done for a while. The lights haven't been easy to get sorted for Sandra but it sounds as if you are nearly there with them now. She's being very patient bless her!

Oh no Vera, that alarm is becoming a nightmare! Thank goodness you know how to reset it and that they aren't away for a month!! :-0 :-0

I keep wondering about Anne too as I notice she isn't posting elsewhere either. Everytime I see a Boston Terrier I wonder how she and the lovely Ruby are doing.

We've been pleased our toms have lasted this long too AnnG, although they were slow starters this year! The Tesco Offer is good on the fuel and I know Sainsbury's do something similar every so often, usually when I have just filled up, but at least OH can use the offer.

Jane

Jane Report 17 Oct 2019 19:05

So the Astroturf still at Johns then Frank? I seem to remember you saying he was paying about £25,000 for it. Was that right? Good job to get your ticker checked out, especially if you are getting niggles.

Vera you must be pulling your hair out now with this blooming alarm going off all the time. What a worry for you ,and your friends are happily away on their cruise knowing nothing of all the trouble it is causing you. They are going to feel so bad arent they when they get home . Once when we were away our alarm kept going off and my neigbour got the company in. The cause was a spiders nest behind one of the sensors and the lttle critters kept crawling across it !!!!!.

Mel I see more girls will be joining you soon
:-D :-D That will be nice. I hope Daisy and May are coping with being hen pecked by the others and that they will soon be accepted.

I think that 10p off a litre at Tesco is a great deal. I give my coupons to James.I dont really use much fuel so it makes sense that he gets the benefit. He filled up his tank yesterday before he went off to London. Hannah and Gareth are now in Ljubljiana (Slovenia) . Gareth only found out where he was going when they got to the airport this morning !!!. What a lovely surprise.

On the way to Tesco this morning I saw a Fox standing in the gateway of a house on the main rd !!. I was just keeping my fingers crossed it didnt decide to suddenly make a dash across the road . It didn't look a very healthy specimen :-S I made sure I came home the other way just in case it was squished .

So it is another very early night for me again tonight. We will have to leave the house by 7.15/30 . I have told Chris to just drop me off and not come into the hospital .He can find out where I am when he comes to collect me :-D. I will probably be better on my own. He seems more stressed than me right now !! Silly Billy.

I may be here later tomorrow . But I have asked to have sedation so may be a bit on the sleepy side when I get home. I want as much sedation as possible :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Oct 2019 21:12

Good luck for tomorrow Jane and its better to get it over and done with so you don't have time to worry about having it done. My thoughts will be with you tomorrow. Sending best wishes and love. <3

No my new girls hav'nt laid yet. You have to remember that the average age for a hen to start laying is 20 weeks but the days are not so long now as in the springtime which is the natural hatching time for chickens. I shall be on here and letting you know as soon as they do you can be sure of that. I shall be so excited.

Hope the headache has cleared up now Gill and have an early night and catch up on some much needed sleep. Aunty Mel has spoken............ :-|

Vera you will be so pleased when your neighbour gets home at the weekend and you don't have to keep going round to sort the alarm out.

I remembered the library today and she had four books for me but I have had one but still came out with 4 as I found the one Frank sent me in the talking book, Kisses on a Postcard so I shall enjoy that and think of Frank while I am listening to it.

Going in the shower now as I have had the heating on for a while tonight to warm the place up. Then I am going to watch the craft program.

Frank so it looks as though the new meds are working if Ros has noticed a difference. I hope the weather holds so that you can get the new lawn laid.

Mandy hopefully the cream will continue to work for OH

We topped OHs car up with the voucher today, next week if we get one it will be mine.

Jane I would go for sedation as well. Shall be thinking of you. Hope you are able to get on here so we know you are ok but we will understand if you can’t <3

Mel we all look forward to hearing when the new girls start to earn their keep.

Good morning all, bright and sunny with clouds and some showers. OH has gone to golf hoping to get round before it rains.

Thinking of Jane and hoping the procedure will soon be over for her. <3

No plans for today, probably a bit of housework and a bit of card making. I send about 90 cards and already have made over 70 so not a lot more to do.

Gillx Report 18 Oct 2019 09:51

Morning all

Nice and sunny today but quite chilly with it.

Good luck with you Endoscopy today Jane. I'll be thinking of you <3

Yes, OH tried all the shops he thought might sell the cable and connector around here AnnG, but to no avail. His friend text last night to say he'll be in this morning so OH is leaving now, with a bit of luck he'll be able to order everything he needs and we should have it all tomorrow. Unfortunately the weather forecast is rain again, so poor Sandra might have to wait another day or two. I keep reassuring her that it will be done, but I think she's starting to think it's never going to happen. She never complains, bless her, but I can see the disappointment on her face, so I hope OH has more luck buying the items today. Everything is in place ready so when it's dry it should only take him about 10 minutes to connect it for her. She's not very good with time, so doesn't understand why it's taking so long and it's a bit hard to explain it to her, so I hope we can sort it out for her soon.

Thank's for the advice on food for the hogs Mel, I didn't know you couldn't give them meat based products, so it's a good job you mentioned it.

Not again Vera, that alarm is stuff of nightmare now for you and your OH, I bet you are counting the days until your neighbours return? I don't mind keep the sun here for you if it helps lol ;-)

How is Colin today Mandy, did you hear back from the doctor? Pleased to hear the cream is helping a little for him now. It looks like you've been busy tidying your garden up like us. Our patio looks so bright now and in the evenings it looks like it's snowed, it's that white, much better than all the muck which had gone onto it with the work being done next door, we had no idea how bad it was, until it had been cleaned.

It sounds like the new meds are starting to kick in now Frank if Ros is noticing a difference, I'm sure you'll start feeling the benefits yourself soon. That's long rolls of Astro Turf, no wonder they wouldn't fit in the car. You won't know yourself next year with less grass to cut.

Your OH has a wicked sense of humour Ann, he's always saying something funny isn't he? You as well, you must have such a laugh with each other. I'm feeling fine today and think it might of been something I'd eaten that made me sick and the headache could of been a bit of dehydration.

OH's just got back, he managed to order everything he needed but unfortunately the cable isn't arriving until 25th so Sandra will have to wait another week. The connector is arriving on Tuesday and the spare light (we ordered another one) is arriving tomorrow. All we need now is a bit of sun once everything has arrived and it'll all be set up for Sandra.

SuffolkVera Report 18 Oct 2019 11:27

Good morning all

I have been thinking of Jane. She should have had her endoscopy by now. I hope it wasn’t too uncomfortable for her and the results will be good. I expect she is resting now as the sedative should have made her a bit drowsy. <3 <3 @Jane

Gill, I’m pleased OH managed to order the stuff for Sandra’s lights but it’s a shame she has got to wait a bit longer for them to be set up. She is very good not to complain.

Not long now before you get your new chucks Mel :-). Your old ladies will get very confused. They’ve barely got used to two new ones before you are foisting another two on them. I bet when they are sitting around clucking they are having a good old gossip about you.

Ann, you and your OH do make me smile with the things you say. My OH and I can still make each other laugh and my fella does say some funny things but he is not as quick off the mark as yours and it loses a bit of effect if he has thought about it for a minute first.

Like you AnninG, I don’t have much planned for today. I’m just going to pop to Sainsbury’s which is our nearest shop and get one or two bits. I ought to get out the garden but everywhere is very soggy and I don’t feel very motivated at the moment.

I was pleased when I got up to see that it was a grey day but the sun is out now so I’m on tenterhooks again listening for that alarm. OH has just put his head round the door and said “Sun’s out. Get ready for a quick dash across the road “. Only another day or two to go thank goodness.

Think I’ll go to the shop now, then if the alarm goes off OH can deal with it :-D

Frank Report 18 Oct 2019 11:59

Good morning to you early birds,

Sun is shining here, I haven't been out other than to feel the grass. It's soaking wet from yesterdays rain, so no cutting today, even though it needs it. Where's BARRY when you need him ?? lol lol

Harvey will come up next weekend, and collect the Astro turf from John's. Once it's here he can arrange when he can come and lay it. I imagine it will be a big job, taking up all the turf and preparing the ground and laying the new stuff. Ros has offered him his daily rate of pay, but I doubt he will accept it, but we offered.

I am thinking of our Jane, I know nothing about what she is having done, or how long they will keep her in to rest. BUT I hope she comes through it, and is home and resting soon.

Ros has gone to have her nails done this morning 11.00 am then to town to do a bit of shopping, back to Tesco for bits and fill up with petrol. She will then go and get the car cleaned, so I will see her when she has finished. (MID AFTERNOON) or later.

Gill poor Sandra must be wondering if her lights will ever be working. Poor girl. Tell her I am thinking of her. xxx

Hows Colin today Mandy. ? I hope the area is clearing up, and he can find out what caused it. Have you changed your washing powder.?? That can cause problems.

;-) ;-) ;-)

For whatever reason, I have been very depressed, and thinking back to my childhood. I thought I would never sleep last night, but I lasted looked at the clock at 4.45 am and slept until 9.00 am.

Nothing happening here for me today. There are jobs that need doing outside, but I have no energy or enthusiasm to go and do them. So they will have to wait.

Have a nice day my loves, whatever you might be doing. xxx

Afternoon all,

Late on parade again, sorry. We have sunshine and showers again today and the sky is just starting to cloud over again in the front but the suns still out in the back.

Cough cough cough in the night till I was nearly sick with it. My throat is roar and my mouth feels like the bottom of a birds cage.

Managed to make three decorated cones yesterday and I am wondering if the glue gun has anything to do with me coughing?

Been thinking of our Jane this morning and hope its all over now and she can rest.

Frank Jane is having a flexible camera put down into her tummy . They then can see on a screen whats going on inside her to see if she has an ulcler.

jane, I admire anyone who goes through this without a problem. I even had to stop the dentist the other day when he was deep cleaning as some of the anaesthetic had gone down my throat and I felt as if I was choking. I wasn't of course but it is a horrid feeling.

I am sure it will be better for you being under a general. And I am sure you are not the first.

Oh, poor you Jane. You certainly shouldn’t feel a failure. I know of at least one person who had to have a general anaesthetic for an endoscopy and two who have had to have colonoscopies abandoned part way through so the medical staff are well used to it. At least next time you can just drift off to sleep and wake up when it’s all over.

Annx

Annx Report 18 Oct 2019 17:30

Afternoon All,

Oh Jane how horrid for you! <3 <3 It will be far better to be out of it and done while you are asleep next time. You aren't failure and OH said this morning that he only just coped with the second one he had that was without sedation. Have a nice rest and relax now.

I expect Sandra will think it was worth the wait when everything is in place and fixed Gill. At least everything you need is ordered now and hopefully some nice weather will let you finish the job. I'm glad you feel better again now.

Oh Vera, I was thinking I wouldn't want to be left alone with that alarm!! lol. I don't blame you for nipping out and leaving your OH to 'babysit' it. I wonder if it will play up with your neighbours when they get back?

Yes it was OH's sense of humour that attracted me to him. I never dreamt I would be attracted to a bald man with glasses and beard when I was younger and shallow!! We do bounce off each other Gill and It's good when you can make each other laugh as you say Vera. One of the other comments he made when he found out an endoscopy was a camera down his throat was that he hoped they didn't use a 'box brownie'. :-) Today when I got home from seeing my beading friends he greeted me with the news that his clumsiness had reached new highs or lows depending how you looked at it. He'd only gone and caught himself in his zip and drawn blood! I grinned as us ladies do at these things and told him I hoped the kiss of life wasn't required as the only puckering up I was doing right now was for my lunch!

Mel, how's the throat now? It sounds like you will need some lemon and honey. My friend said thank you for the info on feeding her Hedgehog. She says she keeps a torch on the windowsill to check it is him eating the food she puts out, but is a bit worried that he isn't very big. I said I would ask you how heavy they need to be to go through the winter? Another friend has just got 2 more Pekin Bantams to add to her 3 and which have feathered legs and feet.

When we were driving home earlier past some fields, there were some birds in the road that we thought were baby Pheasants at first, but as we got closer realised they were smaller game birds and quite colourful. When I got home I looked them up and they were Red legged Partridges which I don't remember ever seeing before. The poor little things looked lost and unsure which way to go which they probably were.

Frank those turf strippers make short work of getting the old turf off. The chap used one when we got rid of our lawn. It will look so smart when Harvey has done it all for you. I imagine it is the 'no expense spared' good stuff if John has had it for his lawn! ;-)

AnnG I can't believe you have done 70 cards already! I expect speed comes with practice though and having good ideas for them. I know I would be indecisive and dithering about.

I wonder if Mandy has managed to finish the bag yet.

Oh Ann that made my eyes water just thinking about your Oh's little nip :-0 so much for no more activity in the underpant area :-0 :-D

You've been busy AnnG making all the cards , how many out of that lot goes in the post ? it must cost you a fortune in stamps .
