Evening All,

Frank that man is so callous! Fancy laughing at her struggle like that. No wonder you and Ros are angry. I would have thought the usual thing would be that the hospital would have assessed what help she needed and put it in place ready for when she came home, but maybe she said her husband would be with her to help? That was so nice of Ros to go and get her some clothes, The poor thing doesn't seem to be getting very much care from her husband. :-S

jane maybe you've overdone things a bit. The trouble is it's only afterwards that you know! OH has joined the Aches and Pains Club now. With all the carrying of boxes and then weeding yesterday and carrying shopping his back has been playing up. He even took some ibuprofen today which he rarely does.

We went to the East Midlands Outlet this morning and didn't realise the children there hadn't gone back to school yet like they have here! We were early though so it was quiet for the first half hour! I got 2 nice nighties from the M&S shop and pants for OH. We were disappointed the Spudulike chain closed as we love their cottage cheese jacket pots. :-S We called in a new cafe there instead and had egg, cress and rocket brioches which were nice but far more expensive. Then we called in The Field Head Hotel on the way home and I had salmon with mushrooms and spinach and OH had a rare treat for him, sausages and mash.

AnnG, it sounds like you are enjoying yourselves. It sounds like you had a nice walk and sightsee on the way. I love your ipad's text prediction and the bodies 'splat around the pool'. lol :-) I thought it a good description!

Mel, that was good getting the mower handle welded back on. I expect it was awkward for your OH without the handle. Good idea to show some of your stuff to that lady as she loved those brooches you made. I am curious about the pagan beads now?

Silly me booked my car in for service and MOT the other day and forgot to put it in my diary, as we were dashing off to be somewhere. I think it may clash with OH's friend's funeral so I will probable need to change the date anyway, so that's a phone call to make tomorrow. The garage I bought the car from has been sending me emails and letters to see if I want to trade it in and they even phoned me this afternoon. Apparently, the car is in much demand now they don't make them any more and they keep getting enquiries. I told him I was keeping it for now but he wants to know if I do decide to sell. I think that may be a long time as I have no idea what I would get what with even hybrid cars now coming under the cosh and electric cars not even getting us to Cornwall without a charge and hardly any places to charge them.

Morning all,

Had the error page again this morning and its not a nice day with grey sky and we've had some rain.

I popped out to put something in the dustbin this morning in my PJ's only to see two people riding horses at the bottom of the garden. Very unusual as we don't usually see anyone out there only down the back. I did'nt recognise either of them and hope they had permission from Jim and Jane to ride over there land and onto Ralph's.

Frank Report 3 Sep 2019 10:55

Morning Mel, and all,

What a day yesterday. I don't think I mentioned that the boiler wouldn't come on yesterday morning. Val's son who is doing the decking, got yup in the loft to look at it for me. It was showing HALF A BAR, whereas ut should be ONE AND A HALF TO TWO.

In desperation I rang Harvey in France. He had the number in his phone of the chap that installed the boiler and rang him for advice. The long and short of it was, Lewis packed up work early, and came up. He rang his Dad, and Harvey talked him through the things he had do with the controls on the boiler. IT WORKED, and has been as good as gold since. As I was cooking for Ros and I, I did more veg and spuds, put two more Pork steaks in the oven. and cooked him a meal also. To say the least he was over the moon, plus he ate two thirds of an Apple crumble and Custard. So he didn't go HUNGRY. Ne left to go home around 7.30 pm.

I have only seen your post Mel. That was a bit naughty of the riders just riding through someones land, without permission. Someone needs to have words with them. !!!

I have prepared dinner for tonight, so I can have a day of doing nothing. Roast shoulder of Lamb, Roast Parsnips, new potatoes, baby carrots from the garden with fresh peas, Broch, Cauli, and brussels. So again we won't go hungry.

Barry will be here around mid-day. He will have a choice of mowers now, as I have the new one. (QUALCAST ELECTRIC) nice and small and easy for me to use if I need too.

Nice bright Autumn morning here, bright blue sky, with a chill in the air. a slight breeze which I expect is making it feel chilly.

Val\s son is here again, going the decking on the patio, so there will be lots of drilling and banging going on, so I won't have a quiet day. :-( :-( :-( :-P :-P :-P :-P

See you all later. xxx

Gillx Report 3 Sep 2019 12:39

Morning all

Sunny here today after rain yesterday. I couldn't get onto Genes yesterday kept getting the error page when I tried to sign in so gave up in the end.

No Jane, Sandra doesn't suffer from fits but the Flamingo lights flicker really fast so it's a bit of a worry. I remember all those children's programmes apart from Watch with Mother. I liked Black Beauty too. Tony Hart's programme was called Take Hart with Morph. Yes, I remember Chris and the broken oven door, fancy finding glass all those years later. Plastic glass's are a good idea outside.

I'll see about the batteries Mel it could possibly be that, if it isn't then I'll have to see what else I can do to make them light up for her, that's safer than it is now.

I think it's just an on off button Mandy, they don't flicker at first but after a while they go mad, it gave me a headache the first time it happened and with her being in the room with them all night I thought it best for her to leave them off. They are sealed so I can't get to the bulbs inside. I'm sure I'll sort it out for her somehow, it just needs a bit of thinking about. I'll try putting in a new battery first like Mel said, if I can get to it.

We thought it might be the length of time the sun was on the solar bit AnnG so left it for a few days, but it didn't make any difference. Have a great time away, looking forward to hearing all about it when you come home.

I started this post 2 hours ago, mum's been around to visit and has just left so I'm back to finish it off.

We've just been talking about Christmas Ann, mum is making lots of Christmasy flower arrangements for craft fairs raising money for Charity, she does it every year and was saying how hard it is to find Christmas things this time of year. Sandra would of loved to have seen a Christmas tree up, she loves Christmas and would have it all year around if she could :-D My ear has stopped hurting now, hopefully what ever it was as gone. Yes, it's a bit like toothache where you have a sharp pain every now and then, it can catch you by surprise when it happens. I've been putting a hot water bottle on it which eased it a bit. I'm just glad it's gone as it was quite painful. Pleased to hear your OH's knee was just a bruise in the end, he was very lucky wasn't he?

You're not having much luck with a bracelet for Ros are you Frank? I bet when you buy her something else, you'll find the perfect bracelet for her. At least you'd be able to put it away for Christmas. I hope you find her something nice in time for her birthday. Fancy Tony laughing, he really isn't a very nice person is he?

Have you found the things you needed to make your door charm Mel? It sounds like you've put everything in a safe place and now it's so safe you can't find anything. Chances are, you'll find them when you don't need them anymore.

Hope your aches and pains have gone Jane and Chris didn't disturb you to much now he's back in the same bed. How did Thomas cope on the landing?

I think I'll take another look at OH's tree again today, I was hoping to do the screening but it's to windy and I don't want the ear ache back again, so I'll stay in doors where it's a bit warmer.

Afternoon All

Well the sun is shining and it is a beautiful day. Just waiting for the towels to finish in the machine and then I'll get them hung out.

Glad y our earache has gone Gill.I hope it doesn't come back again. I didn't know your Mum made all these flower arrangements for Xmas Fayres.Nice she does them for Charity :-D

That was lucky Lewis could be talked through getting your Boiler back up and running again ,and good of him for leaving work to come and help you out :-D I see he was well fed :-D :-D :-D It must have been lovely to see him.

Ann,would you get a good price for your car if you did decide to sell? I would have thought you would if it is in high demand. I just hope the garage doesn't keep badgering you as that would get so annoying.

I wonder who the horse riders were Mel.Odd you have never seen them before.

I have just brought the laptop outside as it is so nice. There is a lovely breeze too
:-D
Gill Thomas was a bit confused last night. I went to bed before Chris and then a few minutes laterThomas jumped on the bed but his space where he would normally have slept had Chris's pillows and his little comfy blanket that he kneads on was on the floor. Not impressed LOL . He did try again a little later but then gave up and went on the landing. It was then 4am when he was back sitting at the side of the bed trying to wake me up to let him out. He is stilll out. I am going to have to not let him out on Thursday morning as I need to get him to the Cattery. Chris says if he is not in then tough luck as we are not giving up this break like we did for Yorkshire. It it comes to it Fitz will come and put dried food in the Summerhouse and fresh water. No suitcases will be on show either until Thomas has gone :-D They just know don't they when the cases come out.

Frank Report 3 Sep 2019 14:18

What a job getting bacon here. It kept showing postings from JUNE. Again I have been round the houses getting back on here.

Barry has been and GONE. he has done both lawns and trimmed a lot off the Wisteria. My mistake HE IS STILL HERE. I have paid him, so he will go when mistime is up.

I am at the doctors at 3.10 this afternoon. Ros hopes to be back to take me, and come in with me. She has said I must tell the Doctor exactly how I am feeling, and that I am not eating enough (that's her opinion) I think I eat what my body needs, I am not one to stuff myself, so I can't move. ;-) ;-) ;-)

What a lovely afternoon it has turned out. Very warm in the sun. I might even walk to the Drs. in just my Short sleeved shirt (AND TROUSERS) lol lol.

It sounds like Val's son has packed up for the day. I expect he has other jobs to do apart from being here.

I have heard from the Boiler Company with a list of Service Engineers, as Brian who installed the boiler, has moved further away from the area, so Harvey said. So I will need someone to carry out the servicing who is registered with ATAG (the boiler Company), and to comply with my 10 year warranty. It's a matter of contacting them, and seeing what they will change. I know Brian wanted £85.00 which sounded a lot of money.

My day hasn't been as quiet and peaceful as I imagined. What with Telephone calls, and knocks on the door, asking if I need any gardening work carried out. I must get a sign that was around when I was a boy, SAYING "No Hawkers, No circulars" Then I will see if that stops people knocking the door, with replacement windows, etc.

I had a nice CRAB SALAD at lunchtime, I was going to INVITE JANE OVER, just to see her face. !!!

Will try to let you know how I get on at the Drs. I expect she will say." IT'S your age, and wear and tear" That's the usual answer to my enquiry ;-) ;-) ;-)

Jane Report 3 Sep 2019 16:52

Frank, I hope Ros was with you at the Drs just now. She will have made sure all was made clear as to how you have been :-D :-D

Well on my last post I was saying how I hoped Thomas was here for Thursday morning to go to the Cattery. Just after that post the phone rang and the lady rang from there to see what time I was taking him TODAY !!!!!!!. I had only booked him in 2 days early :-S :-S. But luckily Thomas turned up just before she rang so we grabbed him quick and he is there now :-D :-D. I feel all of a hooha as it was all so sudden. Now we can get the suitcases out :-D :-D I need to pick up his dishes and get rid of the litter tray and then try and forget all about him and just look forward to getting away .

Annx Report 3 Sep 2019 17:16

Afternoon All,

It's been a nice day again but more breeze today.

Yes, you don't want the same palaver getting Thomas to the cattery this time do you Jane! It's good to have Fitz as a back up plan though, just in case. I've only just realised James will be away at the same time as you. Crikey, that fir tree nextdoor is a whopper isn't it! I think I would get the professionals in to take it down. First OH and I took an Ash tree and a few fruit trees down at my old house but they weren't as tall as that tree. Is it the same side that had the tree fall over your fence before?

Mel I would never have dared ride my pony over other people's land so I hope they did have permission. I did used to take a short cut and ride him in the longer grass at the side of a public playing field in the evening when there was no-one around, but was nowhere near the mown grass or cricket or football pitches. How nice the Swallows are back, but is there time for them to raise another brood before they fly off? Have you found your wire or those beads yet? I'm always finding things then losing them again. I tend to pick my beads up with the needle except for the big ones.

Frank, good old Lewis coming to help out with the boiler for you. It sounds like it needed more water letting in to raise the pressure. Since we had our new boiler we have to turn the water pressure tap to top it up often compared with the previous boiler. We thought there must be a leak at first, but I think it is just with it being a different make. That was good giving him a good feed while he was there. It saved him having to get something himself and he loves your meals doesn't he.......I could just eat a crumble!! lol. I wonder how this decking is going to be when it's finished next door. You mentioned Val's birthday and I wondered how old she is now? The new electric mower sounds much lighter for you to handle.

I'm glad your ear feels better Gill, but it's a good idea to keep out of the wind today to give it a bit more time.

Rang the garage this morning and my car was booked in for the same day as the funeral so I changed it to the following day as I will need OH to bring me home and take me back. He's been asked to do a reading at the funeral and isn't really sure whether something religious is expected. He'd be in his element with the usual eulogy. He doesn't know if anyone else will talk or what they are likely to say and doesn't want to repeat the same things so it's a bit awkward. His latest idea is to prepare both and see what happens on the day! :-S

Annx

Annx Report 3 Sep 2019 17:25

Our registered boiler man charges £35 to do the boiler, but he does the gas fire and cooker hob too and charges £65 for the lot Frank. I think he is cheaper than most though. It's a good idea for Ros to go in with you at the Drs as it is easy to forget to mention everything yourself.

Missed your post as I went outside in the middle of writing mine Jane. That's good that Thomas has gone on his hols now, one less thing to think about! Are your suitcases out already? lol. :-D

Annx Ithink you asked if we ate in the hotel. Actually this is not a hotel as such it is an ex time share. We take a package holiday with Jet2 there is a rep covering Costa Teguise resort and there are several places that have Jetb2 customers booked in. We are brought by coach and Jet2=come to the resort on our departure day to check us in and take our luggage. They then pick us up by coach for the airport and we go straight to security. We don’t eat at the complex preferring to eat at local restaurants. We do have breakfast here in the resort the last day.

Jane happy packing. Poor Thomas two extra days. In case I don’t get on have a lovely break.

Evening all,

It's been a really sunny day here and we've had Lacey and Lewis here for a few hours ,tomorrow they are all back to school so baths and an early night for them all tonight ,the summer holiday seems to have flown by this year .

Frank i hope the doctor can help you ,it's good that Ros is going in with you there's always things you think of that you wish you had asked after you come out .
I bet Lewis loved having the meal with you both last night ,it sounds as if he really loves his food :-D
It was good he got the boiler sorted out for you ,just the shower to get sorted next so there's no ore cold showers .

Jane what a whopper of a tree to take down with a small chain saw and a little wheel barrow ,he'll be there till christmas LOL
Oh that was good getting Thomas away early ,perhaps it's what you should think of doing when you go away that way if he does go off you have a day or two to get him sorted .

Mel that was a bit naughty of the horse riders if they didn't have permission ,i suppose they think they can just ride in any of the fields if there's just grassy fields .

Ann it sounds as if your car is in great demand :-D you might get more for it now than when you bought it :-D
That sounds a good idea what OH is doing with the readings for the funeral he will have it covered either way .

Hope your ear ache is better today Gill ,so painful ear ache .
Have you managed to do any thing with the flashing Flamingo's ?

I don't know but I think that may have been the third appointment that has been either gone to too early or made too early. At least you don't have the worry of not getting Thomas in now Jane and can relax a bit and get on with your packing without the worry of him not coming in. Have a lovely time away.

How good of Lewis to come and do the boiler for you Frank. He's such a lovely grandson and I see you fed him well for his trouble. We had a damson and apple crumble yesterday and the day before. Damsons and apples off our own trees which is always nice. The next one is going to be blackberry and apple like the first one I made a couple of weeks ago as I think thats my favorite.

Ann no I hav'nt found the copper wire or the little black beads yet but I did find some of those ones that shine mauve, green and goldish pink so I used those.

I have just picked up some beech masts off the back lawn. I can never resist collecting a few and love the soft feel when you run a finger up the inside on the furry bit. I shall probably use some in Christmas things as you all know I love to use nature things.

Did the shopping and its all put away and now I am hungry. Oh is'nt so I am not sure if he will eat tonight or not.

That sounds much more free than a hotel AnnG and they have a good system there with everything taken care of to get you and your luggage to where you stay and then back at the end of your holiday. Eating locally means you can go to the places you find to be good as well.

OH is wallowing in the bath to ease his back. It's improved today but isn't right yet. I saw the big veg trug advertised in our local newsletter, complete with cover and still boxed for £100. It is what I want when the raised beds that are falling apart have been removed, but I didn't want him making his back worse getting it in the car and out again so I didn't mention it!

Ann, that sounds really good with Jet 2. We would be like you and prefer to eat out and about where you can chose just where you fancy. Breakfast on the last morning though makes sense :-D

No Suitcases yet :-D Chris will no doubt be up in the loft tomorrow. I am quite relieved now we dont have the worry about the blooming cat.
