Frank Report 1 Sep 2019 11:15

Good morning Mel, and all.

Dark clouds everywhere here also Mel, No rain yet, but I won't hold my breath. ;-) ;-)

Had a reasonable nights sleep, after sitting up and watching BGT. Some great acts, I must admit, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but was surprised by the talent of the performers.

Was awake around 6.30 so got up and had my COT. Ros slept until after 9.00 am. She has had her grapefruit and cereal, I haven't eaten, as we will be eating around 3.00 pm instead of our usual 6.00 pm

I am sending the bracelet back, as Ros isn't happy that it will need alterations, and being it's Victorian, it might well make it worth less. So it will be back to the drawing board. lol lol

It's good that the Insurance Companies have paid out on your Claims Vera and Mandy. As you say, now it's the end of season for pools, there could be some good bargains around. It will be a matter of looking, and not taking the first thing to see.

I am off for my shower nd shave, and sort out what I am going to wear. DECISIONS, DECISIONS. :-D :-D :-D :-D

Will ring my SIL to see how she is, and hopefully she will know how my Sister Mary is. I don't like to ring her direct, as she spends so much time asleep, and I wouldn't want to disturb her.

Have a pleasant day everyone, !! xxx

Afternoon Everyone

No rain here so far today. It is quite sunny and nice and warm. I have been over to Rushden Lakes this morning to M&S and got myself a thin jumper ,3 T Shirts for James,a nail varnish ,lipstick and a pair of earrings. The Jumper and TShirts will be going back :-S :-S. Sleeves far too long on the jumper and the TShirts too short.

That is great news about your insurance Vera and Mandy :-D It was just a shame it has taken so long for yout insurers to pay out Vera. But at least you have the money now and as someione said just in time for your next holiday to Jersey :-D :-D I have only spent a day there when we had a day trip from where we were staying in France.
I would love to go back again one day.

I think it is Tenerife that AnnG is off to. So this is a few of us going away over the next few weeks. I shall have to start thinking about what clothes to pack. At least I wont need anything dressy. We wont be eating anywhere other than Country Pubs .

Ann,I do dhope your friend manages ot find some way of getting that bracelet off.If that happened to me I would to get that panicky feeling !!!

Frank, I would give up on the idea of a bracelet LOL You aren't having any luck at all. How about a necklace ?

Sandra must be disappointed about her Flamingo lights not working properly Gill. Do they flicker really fast? I only asked as you said you were worried it could cause a fit. Does Gill suffer from fits?

I have had a good look for any more bits of glass under the patio table and can't see anything. The bits that were really hard to pick up were brushed down in between some cracks in the paving :-D Do any of you remember a few years ago Chris managed to pull the door glass out from the top oven on Xmas day and it smashed all over the kitchen floor.I think I sent a pic then. Anyway I was still finding bits of glass a couple of year later !!!!!! Luckily it was safety glass so no nasty shards.

Lunch time I think

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Sep 2019 14:54

Gill it may be the batteries that are causing the lights to flash quickly. Can you get to the batteries? They may need changing for new ones. Is the solar panel right in the sun? My lights in the garden are'nt working for so long now the days are getting shorter.

Watching the F1.

Suns out here now and the sky has cleared a lto.

Afternoon all,

It had been a nice and sunny day but i just happened to look up and it was pouring with rain i had to nip out and get the cushions off the chairs ,i think they are waterproof but don't like to leave the out to get soaked through ,we have one of those big plastic storage boxes that we pop them in to over night .
The sky is that black now in the distance so i think we might be in for some more rain .

What a shame about Sandra's lights ,are they sealed or can you get to any wiring ?it might be just a loose wire making them flicker ,they don't have a switch on them were you can have them on flash do they ?some of the solar lights can be on all the time or on flash mode she might have turned the switch onto flash .

.You'll be finding glass for ages Jane ,i smashed a little glass coffee pot ornament ages ago and only the other day i found a piece of it and i've hoovered and mopped that floor no end of times .
Yes i do remember you saying about the oven door .
We now use those plastic picnic glasses out side as there's always one of the little ones that knocks a glass over and just a little drink seems to go a long way ,i make sure i have a coupe of old tea towels out side now ready to soak up any spills

You just don't seem to be having any luck with the bracelets Frank ,i'd give up on them and find some thing else ,what about some nice ear rings ?

Jane

Jane Report 1 Sep 2019 16:16

Picnic glasses are a great idea Mandy especially as you say with all the children about. Sometimes when we go away I buy the plastic wine glasses so that if we have a picnic they are much easier than the glass ones.

I have been sucking up spiders and webs in the battery spider catcher thing. There are hundreds of the little blighters. I got a bit dizzy looking up at the ceilings and top of the walls for so long so have come for a sit down. They have just taken over the whole house :-S :-S They just seem to reproduce overnight. The tiny ones are so easy to miss to as they just look like a speck of dust on the wall/ ceiling.I think the spider catcher needs a new battery really as the suction is not seeming too strong and the big spiders are difficult to suck in. But we haven't got a spare batttery . That is on the list for tomorrow :-D

I meant to say the other week after I had been to the hairdressers .Nigel (hairdresser) and I were going over all the old childrens TV programes . He is younger than me but could remember many. Flipper, Skippy, Lassie, Champion the Wonder Horse etc were just a few. One he didn't know was Mr Ed the talking Horse :-D Remember him?
Bewitched was another. He is too young to know Watch with Mother :-D

I think the rain might have passed us by :-)

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 1 Sep 2019 17:03

Oh yes Mr Ed the talking horse :-D
Animal Magic , Nogin the Nog , Magpie , and How which I think was later when son was small.

Sun's out and there was just a little more rain but not enough to wet the ground really.

We have chicken curry tonight made with an Aldi Korma sauce in a jar then plum crumble .

Jane

Jane Report 1 Sep 2019 17:31

Tony Hart and his programme? Can't think what it was called now. Rolf Harris and his arty programme? Crackerjack :-D :-D They are all coming back now Mandy :-D
Hectors House? That always ended with Hector saying . "Oh What a silly old Hector"(I think). Tin Tin, Captain Pugwash,Sooty and Sweep I am on a roll now LOL

Curry sounds nice . I have never bought jar sauce from Aldi .Is it good? Someone around here is cooking something that smells really good. It's not a BBQ,
We have Waitrose deboned Chicken with the sunblushed tomato and parmesan marinade (my fav) Rosemary and Garlic Parmentier Potatoes (Tesco) and our own ton of Runners :-D I am trying to work out meals for the week now . We goon Friday so it is just 4 days to think about. Pasta tomorrow,Chicken Kiev maybe the next day, then I thought I might make my Meatloaf . That leaves just one day. Something simple I think :-D

I hope Frank has had a nice Sunday lunch out today :-D

AnninGlos Report 1 Sep 2019 17:45

Gill just asked oh about the flickering flamingoes. He says sometimes if they are not charged fully they will flicker so is the sun fully on the charging bit for long enough. As Mel says it could also be the batteries if you can get to the battery you can perhaps buy new rechargeable ones. Maybe you could put them outside and see if they charge up enough to not flicker.

Vera we are in Lanzarote where we have had a lovely hot sunny day with a cooling breeze.

Jane pleased James looks to be coping ok.

Vera and Mandy good to get the insurance paid

Annx I am sure your friend should be able to get the bracelet off at a jeweller that sell similar bracelets. Not wise to have something permanently fixed on her wrist.

Jane Report 1 Sep 2019 18:06

AnnG , why do I always seem to think it is Tenerife you go to?? :-S Glad you are enjoying some lovely sun now.You wouldn't be quite so lucky here today although it hasn't been too bad. How long are you there? I 'm sure it is going to be a lovely relaxing time. Nice food ,nice drinks and just chilling out :-D Wish I was there too

Oh yes Tony Heart .....that was Take Heart I think with Morph :-D

The curry was lovely so will definitely have that again as it's nice and easy and I'm all for that :-D
Crumble was good too and now we're both full up.

Jane

I think Morph came later than the original prog I am thinking of Mandy.
Glad you enjoyed that Curry :-D Was it the first time you had that sauce?

Next door is cutting down a humungous fir tree that had died. It is going to be quite a job. It looks like he is doing it all with quite a small chainsaw !

Annx

Annx Report 1 Sep 2019 21:02

Evening All,

Lovely day here, sunny with a slight breeze, much better for me than that overwhelming heat! lol

Sounds like it's been nice in Lanzarote today too AnnG. That's the island with old volcanoes isn't it or have I got it wrong? I would like to see inside a volcano, not sure I'd get OH up one though.

He was up with the lark this morning weeding the front garden and doing odd jobs. There was a match he wanted to go to this afternoon and that usually has this effect! lol.

The geese have just flown over honking away. I always wonder what they are saying to each other? 'left hand down a bit Squadron leader?' They start their practice flights this time of the year so autumn must be on it's way. I shall be poop scooping my car soon, yet they seem to miss OH's car so he can't be on their flight path.

Speaking of autumn, there was a CHRISTMAS TREE up when we went to lunch!! Admittedly it was covered in adverts for their Christmas lunch rather than baubles, but it was still a christmas tree. :-S

Jane those bits of glass go everywhere. OH is the one here who smashes things the most. When I lived on my own I would walk round my bungalow barefoot a lot of the time, but not anymore!! It's a shame having to take things back to shops. I seem to do it all the time! I still miss when you could get exactly the same garment in several colours too. Other than a few choices with cardies, there's less choice with everything else. :-S :-) :-)

Mandy I will tell my friend about the clasp removers next week. I didn't know there was such a thing. Like Jane I would get a bit panicky I think. I hate it when a ring gets a bit tight and keep checking I can get it off.

OH's knee is a bit sore still Vera and has a nice bruise now, but it's better than he expected it to be. That's great you have the insurance money now, but you would have thought they would have let you know! Yes, keep your OH under surveillance till you go to Jersey, no risk taking with anything before then! :-) I should think there are tour buses there and a trip on the little railway might be nice. As you say it will be a different holiday to what you usually do, but sometimes you get to see other things that way.

Poor Sandra with her Flamingos on the blink. :-0 I hope you can sort out the problem Gill and get them working properly for her again. I hope your earache goes soon. I've never had it, but can imagine it must be as bad as toothache. I know my ears have started to hurt in cold wind in the past.

I agree about time flying Mel and this year seems to have sped by as you say. The nights are really drawing in :-S

I hope you managed to find out how your sister is Frank. As you say it would be a shame to disturb her when she might be asleep. What a game with the bracelet! It might be time to find Ros something else as she doesn't seem destined to get a bracelet.

Rag tag and bobtail comes to mind and tails of the riverbank when Hamster went in a boat. Twizzle and torchy torchy the battery boy. Captain Scarlet. The flower pot men with Little Weed and the Wooden tops. Andy pandy and Looby Loo. The Clangers and Mr Benn.
Camberwick Green and Trumpton with the firemen Pugh Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb and Captain Flack. Was'nt there Chigley too? My son from a very early age loved Playschool. Tales of the riverbank with Hammy the hampster and roderick the rat where they used real animals.

I shall think of some more in a mo.

Morning all,

We have quite a nice morning here with sunshine one side and gre sky to the north. Feels like autumn out there now as its a bit chilly but all you hotties out there will be pleased with that.

Mandy have you finished the unicorn bag yet? We are waiting to see a picture of it. Have you been too busy to finish it with the children staying with you?

I am still having trouble getting on here and would ask you all to report the Error Page again to Customer Support. We are just not getting a good deal on our subs while its like this and its taking ages to get on here and I like to just pop in and read the post and carry on with what I was doding but it just takes too much time.

Frank Report 2 Sep 2019 10:47

I agree Mel, It has taken me ages getting on here this morning.

GOOD MORNING ALL,

Was up until 3.00 am this morning. By back legs and shoulders were giving me so much JIP. I finally dropped off for a few hours, but it's just as bad again this morning.

Tony is banging something into his lounge wall again this morning. NOW A BLOODY DRILL IS GOING.It's all my head needs. !!!!

It's Val's birthday today, so Ros has gone round with her card and presents. As she found no decent cloths last week when she went round to help her. She has been out and bought her some TOPS, Pyjama's and a pair of trousers. Lets hope they FIT. She has just come back and said what a MESS SHE LOOKS. Her hair is full of grease, she has tried to wash it, but hasn't got the soap out of it. Tony just stood and LAUGHED.

The carvery was very busy again yesterday. I had booked a table for 3.00 pm. I think everyman, and his dog were there. The waitress said there was a 40 minute wait at the carvery. So we just queued, good job we did, as the queue just got BIGGER behind us. I was disappointed with the Yorkshire Puddings, they were like RUBBER. so never got eaten. Everything else was just right.

I have set in motion to return the bracelet, so I have another 17 days to sort something out for a present. I will see if she would like some new cloths, if so, I can give her the money.

Haven't read any posts, but thought I had better let you know I am alright. xxxx

Jane sometimes we go to Tenerife and sometimes Lanzarote depends how we feel although Tenerife is a bit steep in places for us these days. Just has breakfast at 10am then walked out round the coast, checked the mileage on my Vivofit when we got back and we have walked three and a quarter miles, stopping for breakfast and two hours later for gin for me (rhubarb and ginger) and a beer for OH. Now back resting in our apartment looking out at the bodies splat out round the pool. Hot again with a light breeze. The only slight minus is the number of those electric scooters big and small buzzing around, loads of them, dread to think what would happen if somebody came off with no protective clothing on.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Sep 2019 17:07

Well we have all been very quiet today hav'nt we.

I have been looking for some small, but not tiny, black beads to go inbetween some hazel nuts to make a door charm. Do you think I could find them? I have been through eight boxes with beads and fittings in and looked in two baskets with bits in and not found them. I saw them the other day when I was looking for something else.

The other thing I want is my copper wire but I can't find that either and theres me thinking how good I have been putting things away lately.

Just broke a nail off...........still its the only long one left on my left hand but I use it to pick beads up with.

Yesterday I made a beaded string of Pagan Prayer Beads. Its turned out quite well.

I want to get some new things together to show the lady in the Torrington shop to see if she will take some of my stuff. Its that kind of shop.

Good your having nice weather Anng and that you are keeping up your nice walks. Are you eating at the hotel?

Afternoon Everyone

AnnG I'm glad I hadn't lost the plot :-D So Tenerife and Lanzarote. It sounds like you are in a lovely position where you are. I bet all those sunbathers will be frazzled lying by the pool. I hate sitting around a pool like that. The concrete always sems to make it feel so much hotter. One year when we went to Majorca a lady just spent all day every day sunbathing. The colour and texture of her skin reminded us of some mummified creature !!!!!!. Not a good look.

Oh Frank, what a good friend Ros is buying all those clothes for Val :-D. I feel ready to explode with anger at Tony laughing like that at Vals hair. What a total **** he is :-S :-S Val really needs someone to come in at least a few days a week to deal with her personal care. It is just so flipping sad to think of her like this. :-(

Mel is the shop the one where you sell your Christmas Wreaths? I am sure with all the lovely craft things you have made you should be able to sell a fair bit.

3 and a quarter miles was a good stint today AnnG and in the heat too. Ginger ale always is good with Rhubarb Gin :-D I love a normal Gin but also the Elderflower.Lots of ice...very refreshing :-D

Frank I am a bit like you today and full of aches and stiffness. Just around my hip. I ahve been doing a lot of waddling today. Sometimes I wonder if I might sleep a bit awkwardly. Tonight will be interesting as Chris will be back in the bed(don't get any ideas !! ) I just mean I won't be able to spread myself all over the place. Since my op he has ben in Hannah's bed. Thomas will get a shock as he has been sleeping with me right up beside my pillow :-D He will have to make do with the landing now.

Chris has been on a right mission today. He does tend to go a it OTT and all at once. He changed the beds hoovered through, did 3 loads of washing got it all dry outside then remade the beds. He refused to let me help. But he was getting himself all a bit stressed so I just let him get on with it. I did not need a row. Even James steered clear LOL ...oh I see he is just bringing in the last of the washing as it has started to rain. Its really quite dark.
James took himself off this morning to Starbucks with his laptop to do work stuff. He has a meeting at an Agency in Cambridge on Friday at 2pm. He will then go on from there to Hannah in London for the night before going to Lisbon on Saturday morning.

No Gill today. I do hope her earache hasn't got worse today. Time to think about dinner now.
