Apparently this series of Poldark isn't taken from the book!!! The producer has made up the story using the theme of the book hence Mel you not recognising the mad Irishman (Ned?) as he didn't exist in the original! It's so often the way that the moment a series gets tampered with it becomes less entertaining! I'm bored with Morwenna and Drake too!!! Not to mention the counterfeit money -as if?!!!! It's such a shame as we really loved it and now will be quite glad when it finishes! Better morning here! OH is getting on with those leeks, while I shall iron a few bits! I have to confess that I don't iron the way I used to, now I just do things that show! the rest gets put away in the airing cupboard! Forgive me Gill, but it must be awful doing all those screws by hand! OH has a bit that goes on his electric drill that makes It really easy to put them in and takes no time at all. Its amazing what you can buy these days that helps to make all these jobs easier. OH also has a nail gun which has proved invaluable for various jobs!! Hope everyone has a nice 'dry' day!

Morning all, Yes there are so many postings, I don't think I know who wrote what, other than your OH VERA, What a silly man, possible undoing all the good work in his recovery. Jobs like that do take it out of you.
I have never watched or read POLDARK. Ros watches it every week, that's one of the reasons I go to bed at 9.00 pm. Last night was no different. I read until 10.00 pm turned on the radio, but the music wasn't to my liking, so that went off. I was still awake when Ros came in at Midnight. I was awake again by 5.00 am, and clocked watched until I got up.
Yes Annx, My uniform was of the era of when the Tunnel opened the first time in the 1700s. What a good memory you have. I still look at the photo's that were given to me by the local press at that time.
Horrible morning here, I feel sorry for those parents who have children on holiday at the seaside. How do you keep them amused in weather like this. The sky looks full of rain. So good job neither of us need to go out.
Tomorrow, Ros has a blood test at 9.30 am then her nails to hair at 11.00 am/ I will have to walk to the nurse for my injection at 11.30 am. So hope it's not raining then. !!!
Jane it's terrible when you hear news like that, so you can imagine what it is like when it's family. I have LOST my DAD, BROTHERS, JIM, BILL, and TED and my Twon Sister to CANCER. Jack from a Heart attack, my sister Clara to a STROKE. and Mum to old age (we think. She was 86) That only leaves Sister Mary and ME. SORRY FOLKS. Very depressing post. :-( :-( :-(
Ros is busy ironing all the whites from yesterday's wash, and the coloured bits that need doing. I showered this morning, without any trouble, so the BEGGER is behaving itself.
My lawns are looking like they need cutting again, I will have to ring Barry to see when he can come,
I haven't eaten this morning, so might get myself eggs on toast as a late breakfast. See you all soon. xxx

Sorry Gill, I didn't realise that AnnG had asked the same question, and that you've answered it! The sun's been out here for quite a while, so I've been outside doing a few jobs! OH has got on well with the leeks, so we won't starve and son has just rung to say they'll be over at the weekend, so that's cheered us up, not that we were uncheered but it's nice to see them especially our grandson. :-D

Morning all,
Sunshine and showers here this morning.
I really don't know how you manage to do all those screws without an electric screwdriver or a drill attachment. No wonder you have a bad arm. Does oh not have a drill Gill????? You can get some cheap ones nowadays. Oh bought me an electric screwdriver years ago and it was only a few pounds and you recharge it so can take it anywhere. A good tool to have for so many jobs around the house and garden.
Pippyn my oh has so many tools and things I think he has just about everything you could possibly want know. We also have a compresser and nail gun which saves alot of time. He also cleans my hoover filter with the air gun and it makes a lovely job of it without getting it wet and having to wait for it to dry out. The wind has to be in the right direction though he tells me!!
We need to get petrol for the mowers sometime today so thats another 26 mile trip.
With all this rain lately the grass has grown like mad.

Good afternoon
It was slightly cooler this morning but sunny and dry. It’s a different story this afternoon. Heavy showers on and off, now it's pouring and looks as though it’s set in for some time. As I am trying to get more exercise I was going to walk to a friend’s house but I think I’ll put it off for another day.
OH has had no ill effects from sorting the pavers yesterday. In fact he seems to have a new lease of life. I was going to drive him to the barber today but he drove, though I was with him just in case I needed to take over. The barber is in a tiny lane with no parking so he stopped outside and went in and I drove the car round to the main car park, did a bit of shopping and walked back to the barbershop. OH was just ready to come so I told him to stay in the waiting area and I would go and get the car, but he felt he could walk to the car park. It was a very slow stroll but he got there without much trouble. So he has made amazing progress just over the weekend.
I’m glad your foot is feeling better Gill. Now you must get that arm strong before you try using it again.
I hope your bot isn’t sore after your injection Frank.
I’m not a Poldark fan and stopped watching it after the first series but none of these extended series seem as good once they have used up all the stories from the books and get other writers in to make up new material.
I think TV is often disappointing these days but I do like a good book and use the library a lot for the real thing but also use my kindle a lot. I also have an app on my iPad called Libby which enables me to borrow library books and read them on my iPad. You need to be a library member to use the app as you have to register with your library card number. When you borrow a book it is downloaded to the iPad for three weeks. I think it’s brilliant.
It has stopped raining so I am going to take a chance and walk to my friend’s now before it starts again

Afternoon all,
Mel, your OH is just like HARVEY. I don't think a tool has been made that he hasn't got. lol lol. He's such a handy person to have as a son. Where as Conrad would have a job knocking in a nail. But makes up for it in so many other ways. My own son Simon, has only ever done one job for me, and that was to set some Potato's. He dug a DEEP TRENCH and lined them up in it. I don't remember them ever coming to the surface, so needless to say I haven't asked him to do other things. METHOD IN HIS MADNESS, or what. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
Not been a nice day here, but not cold, I am still in shorts with no top on. But so overcast with the odd shower.
Cold roast Lamb in gravy, new pots and veg tonight. There is still a load over, so will cut it off the bone, and mince tomorrow, I will either do mince with Veg and Spuds, or a Sheep S@@@ pie.
Conrad and Jan are coming up Thursday, and want to go to our nice Chinese. restaurant in the evening and want John and Carolyn to come also. Why, I don't know, but when Ros rang to invite them, they soon said YES. Conrad and Jan will be staying at the Hilton Hotel in the next village to us, close to the M1 jcn 15. They want us to go and have Breakfast with them Friday morning at the hotel. Jan has got Ros to book her in to have her nails done, where Ros is going tomorrow. So that's all booked. Don't know if Ros will stay with her, we will wait and see. If she does, Conrad can come back here with me. I don't know what plans they have for Friday afternoon, but I know they are stayng another night at the hotel Friday.
Still looking for a bracelet for Ros. Some are over £1,200.00 and most around £500/600, so will have to look for something that I can afford. which is none of those. !!!!
It's hardly got light this afternoon, with all this cloud.Instead off Eggs on Roast, I had a slice of Pork pie with Egg in, and a coffee. Now I don't feel hungry lol lol

Oh likes the pork pie with the egg in the middle Frank. Easier than egg on toast too.
I caught a rabbit in the rabbit trap without even trying today. I had left it undone outside my shed and wondered what was in it. I was hoping it was'nt a hedgehog as it was about the same size but it was a small rabbit. Its now gone to the big warren in the sky.

We too have a compressor, a small generator (just in case!!) and an ancient welder, which actually belongs to our son! He is very like OH and likes nothing better than a 'challenge'!! whatever the problem! there aren't many jobs that they can't solve! Good luck with your bracelet hunt Frank! Evening All Good news from the Consultant this morning. I can now drive again :-D :-D. He was really pleased with how I am doing and said to try and use the crutch less and less.I still need it though for a bit of support and it also helps me feel a bit safer when out and about. I will be seen again in 4 months . I cna even have a bath again in a couple of weeks :-D :-D :-D. Chris will have to be on hand at first just to makes sure I can manage the getting in and out bit. He is probably dreading the thought of me getting stuck and having to haul me out !!!!.
Frank, How lucky were you that the chopping mat didn't melt in the oven. That would have been a right mess :-0.. What did Ros say ;-)
Ann,how many things are entering for the show? I am sure you will do really well again :-D Have youfinished the Bracelet today?
AnnG I forgot where you said you were going tomorrow for your Birthday. There are far too many posts to scroll back to find it now. I hope the weather will be ok. I haven't seen the forecast for tomorrow.
Is OH behaving today Vera :-D.No doing any more sneaky jobs while you were out?? If I say to Chris at all that I think he should leave doing something his reply is always "I am quite capable you know" :-|
Gill would it not be worth just buying a cheap electric screwdriver to save you poor arm if you still have so many more screws to put in? You could order one on Amazon and have it delivered the next day. If it is RSI that you have (which it sounds like) then it would make sense as you may get the same problem again with doing so many more screws by hand.
Pippyn, we haven't grown leeks this year but you should see the size of our Onions !!!! They are mahoosive . Lots of Garlic too but not the best crop we have ever had. That will be nice ot see you family at the weekend, How old is your Grandson? Do they have to travel far to come to you?
Well tomorrow is the day James has 'the meeting' at work regarding the redundancy. It could well be his last day at work :-(. It could be they say he has to go straightaway ,as I know this happens sometimes . I remember my BIL Larry having to collect all his bits and bobs up and putting them in a box and just having to go. So it could be difficult day tomorrow . Just have to wait and see. His car is ready for collection from the garage so Chris will take him in the morning to get it. I will then have my car back and have a practice run down to the village just to make sure I can move my op leg properly from the accelerator to the brake and do an emergency stop :-D It will be easy with no traffic on our road . It is still shut to traffic for several more weeks :-S Maybe I should drive down the lane to Fitz ,or do you think that would make him so jealous as he still has to wait :-D I don't want to be too cruel ;-) ;-)
Any more gigantic eggs Mel? The poor lady is probably still in recovery are delivering that whopper.Or maybe she is trying to make a second one :-D
Poldark has never been for me.It is a pity for those of you that have followed each series to be so disappointed in this one. I like Keeping Faith.

Our Grandson is 12 Jane and lives about 15 miles from us,so it's close enough but not too close ;-) ;-) our daughter lives about 30 miles, so more of an expedition! Now the girls are 19 and 16 we don't see so much of them as they're always busy with this and that! but we keep in touch by text and hopeful visits! :-) Well done with your progress! I can imagine that you'll be really pleased to be driving again. I hope tomorrow isn't too difficult for your son. It's a horrid thing thing to have happened, but when he looks back it may well be that it will actually have led him to better employment, hopefully. We like 'Keeping Faith' too, and 'Foyle's War' Frank, though they're now all repeats! Must reply to my SIL's email!

Evening All,
My first OH had lots of tools. In our larger than usual garage he had a lathe, pillar drill, planer, crosscut saw and bandsaw, all of which were set in large aluminium tables. He also had a welder, angle grinder and lots drills and smaller things like sash cramps. He used to make his own chisels and sharpen them. He was very practical though and could make most things in wood or metal. Now we have a garage with lots of FIL's tools, some of which are so old we aren't sure what they were for.
Great news Jane!! :-D :-D I would pop and see Fitz in your car.......he will see there is light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. ;-) Next a bath then and you will be really feeling like your old self. I don't blame you hanging onto your crutch when you are out for a while. People tend to give you a wider berth then and you don't want anyone bumping into you, especially while the children are off school and racing round the supermarket. Two were flying down the aisles on those skate trainer things in our Sainsbury's this morning!! :-0
It will be a bit of an awkward day for James tomorrow with the meeting and not being sure when he will actually go. Personally I think once you know you are going it's best to go straightaway and get a PILON as we called them at work....payment in lieu of notice. If you have to work your notice then your heart isn't in it. I hope he can then get busy finding something else as he will have more time when he isn't working. At least his car is fixed which is good. Did you watch The Widower? It was 3 episodes and is still available I think. I thought it was good.
Gill I would have thought the gas people would still go round to your new neighbour anyway to check things, whether or not he's switched it on. Otherwise it could be dangerous for you and other neighbours if he switched it on without the checks ever being done.
I had a pretty drooping type of clematis years ago and lost it when I tried to dig it out. Now a few years later it has appeared in the original place and has popped out of the Camellia with a few flowers. I only tried to move it because it was too close to the Camellia, but it seems to be liking it there so I'll leave it now.

Good morning to you all,
Good news on the driving front Jane, just be CAREFUL for the first few outings. The last thing we want to hear, is that you have had a BUMP. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Pippyn, That sound just right for family distance. It better than being just round the corner, and feel they must call in every day. As did my Mother. She would be standing in her lounge window, just at the time I come home from work. I felt I JUST HAD to call in. It made me late for my dinner, but whats the lesser of the two evils. ??? We don't see Lewis very often being that he's almost 21 and has a very busy social life, and works whenever he is not at University.
I hope everything goes well for James today. Nothing worse than leaving with a cloud over everything, and bad feelings. I hope his redundancy package is what he is expecting, if not there is always ACAS who can advise him.
Eos went to the black bin to throw something away, and lifted the baking tray out, that I had thrown away with the scones. She picked it up and just peeled the plastic off the tray, as it's perfect.
Madam has gone to have her nails done 9.30. then on to hospital for her water works treatment for 11.10 am. She will then meet up with Carolyn and do their normal Tuesday shopping trip. So I will see her as and when.
Barry rang at 7.30 this morning, to see if we want him to do the lawns this afternoon, and trim some bushes. I have put the trimmer on charge, so that will be ready for him, as and when.
I have my injections TODAY at 11.30. Louise is on holiday so I will have a different nurse, I hope she will be GENTLE with me, otherwise I will have a sore bot, as the injection is SO THICK and takes quite a time to administer. If it goes in too quickly, I always have a sore bottom. :-( :-( :-(
Not a good night again last night. My shoulders are very sore, and kept waking me up when I turned over. Then I laid, for what seemed like an age, before dropping off again.
Lovely bright sunny day here. The forecast said to make the most of it, as the week is going be rain again. So much for SUMMER. It looks like being the wettest August on record.
Shower still working, so I only need to have and get dressed. Have a good day, and be careful, especially our JANE ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) xxxx

Morning Frank and Mel, morning all
<3 <3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNG <3 <3 <3 <3
Have a great day, hope my card arrived on time. What was the big heavy present your son bought you?
Well, what can I say about the weather, we must of had a couple of cloud bursts in the night, there's water everywhere, the garden is flooded and the rain even got into the greenhouse as it went underneath from the patio. It's sunny now, but I don't think OH will chance doing the painting, I doubt he could do it anyway with all the surface water. I think it's going to take some time for it all to drain away. The plants would of loved it though. OH did paint the gate and bit of fence yesterday afternoon and luckily it dried before the rain came. It was suppose to be dry for two days according to the weather, but I guess they got it wrong. I hope it's not raining for your birthday AnnG and you have a nice time today.
OH and I were having a lovely sleep when we were woken up with banging from the workman doing up the house across the road, the gas people have joined in now, so it's not going to be a peaceful day.
How wonderful Jane that you can finally drive again, don't over do it though, just short trips until your body gets used to it again. Hope it isn't to long before Fitz can get into his car. You've done really well with your recovery. Hope all goes okay for James today, well, as good as it can do.
I won't need to put as many screws in for the actual screening, so as long as my arm is better I should be okay. I can always do one piece a day if I have to. The only reason I did so many last time was because I had two pieces of 16 foot plastic to put up which had to be done in one go with them being so big, it wasn't a job I could come back to and finish another day. So hopefully this time around I can stop if I need to. The screwdriver is one that turns easily so I don't have to twist it all the way around myself, it did give me the beginnings of a blister on the palm of my hand and no matter how many times I put a plaster on it kept coming off so in the end I put a bandage on my hand which worked. I did try putting gloves on but I couldn't feel what I was doing. I felt a bit silly with the bandage but it worked and stops the palm of my hand getting any worse.
OH's just come in after nipping to the shop and said next doors garden is worse for rain water than our, I've just taken a look and it's like a swimming pool, you can hardly see his grass just a tiny bit nearer his bungalow.
Going to get a cuppa, I haven't had one since I got up as I wanted to wish AnnG a happy birthday first. Hope it's drier where you are today, it looks like where going to have some more rain soon, so OH's definitely not doing the painting today.

Morning all
What a shame about the rain Gill. We had a lot of heavy rain during the afternoon and evening yesterday but it looks as though it is going to be bright and sunny today. There’s a nip in the breeze though. My arms were quite chilly when I came in from hanging out the washing.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNinG. HAVE A LOVELY DAY <3 <3 <3 <3
You must be pleased to know you can drive again Jane. I hope it isn’t too traumatic a day for James. Sometimes horrible events turn out to be blessings in disguise. He might find work that takes him in a new direction that he really enjoys. Fingers crossed for him.
I think your family are just the right distance away Pippyn. Close enough for them to get to you or vice versa in an emergency but not so close that you live in each other’s pockets. My daughter is about 25 miles away but my son is around 210 miles and with all their commitments we sadly don’t see a lot of them, though we are a close family.
Talking of my son, tomorrow is the 3rd anniversary of his second marriage. Poor AnninG and Jane had to put up with me writing reams about the wedding on another thread. I can’t believe it was 3 years ago. The years roll by so fast now.
At the moment I am cooking beetroot that my daughter brought me from her garden. They are very large so I hope they won’t turn out to be “woody”. Then I think it will be a cup of tea before walking to the chemist to collect OH’s tablets. After that I ought to do some housework but I think I’ll try to do a bit more in the garden and leave the housework till tomorrow when the weather looks horrid.
See you all later :-)
