O I got on here but Mandy not AGAIN. It is just too much to take. You certainly need to have a camera put up either by the police of yourselves as this has gone too far now. Once you can take although its not nice but to have it happen again........ Well...

What do they drop down on after coming over the wall? I would be tempted to put some buckets of water down or a string of tin cans or two so they make a racket. How about some trip wires????

I came in to put the oven on and the thing would'nt work so had to take the meat out of the tray and put it in a covered roaster as you can't use foil in the top oven so bunged it in there. Went back outside and suddenly thought I wonder if the timer is on? It was and now its working again. Silly me I must have set it when I cleaned the front of the cooker down.

Poor you Mandy. What a horrid time you and your OH are having. Like AnninG I wondered if it could be something like a disgruntled neighbour doing it. It’s almost as if they knew you had managed to patch the pool up and came back a second time to make sure they ruined it for you. I hope the police will be able to help you when you see them.

I hope you enjoy your meal with your political friends Pippyn. At least it won’t be boring.

I’m glad your steps are nice and strong now Frank. They always say that if you want something done well, do it yourself. Now you must take care going up and down them.

Gill, whether OH has a claim for compensation for his broken tooth might depend on what he was told before the operation. These days you have to be told of the risks before an operation and if he was told there was a chance of tooth damage then you wouldn’t have a claim, and in any case it would be difficult to prove negligence. Sometimes with the best will in the world accidents happen. Unless he has really suffered badly I would let it go rather than go through the stress of a claim, but that is just my personal opinion.

I got my bathrooms cleaned and I hoovered through downstairs. AnninG, we supposedly downsized when we moved here so how come I used to have 3 loos to clean, and now I have 4? We looked at 3 bedroomed bungalows but we were used to space and all the rooms seemed so small. We nearly didn’t view this house as it was advertised as having 5 bedrooms but a friend who knew it thought we should see it and she was right. In fact, the two downstairs bedrooms had been knocked into one, but in such a way that they could be made into 2 again. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs but we use the smallest one as a study. However I can put 2 futon type beds down in there when needed. It is nice to have space for family to stay, particularly son and his tribe from Yorkshire. The other good thing about this place is that if the time comes when we can’t easily get upstairs we can live totally downstairs.

I spent about an hour and a half in the garden this afternoon but came in shattered with backache and a headache. A shower soon perked me up a bit and I think at last I am beginning to make things look a little less wild and overgrown. I quite like the natural look but this was getting ridiculous.

Well, time I got cooking I suppose. It’s just egg, beans and chips tonight. A bit of a comedown from last night when I cooked coq au vin. I didn’t tell OH how much of his good red wine had gone into it ;-)

Mel they come over the wall and onto the garden bench , we lay the garden brolly on the bench rather than leave t in the stand as the wind can blow it over .

I went to the Church house this afternoon but they only open from 10 till 12 so i'll nip up tomorrow .
I also went next door to tell them ,(we get on well with the neighbours AnnG so it's not them) they have kindly offered to turn their CCTV camera to look right over our garden ,we were going to empty the pool but have decided to leave it just in case they decide to pop their head over to see if we've patched it again and then get caught on the camera .
We have taken the Salt Machine and the pump away as we don't want them damaged .
We have ordered three new security lights today they are LED so should be a lot brighter than the one we have now ,although this one we have doesn't always switch on when your further down the garden they should be here tomorrow so we can put them up and have one down on the shed but again we don't want to put them up just in case he pops his head over .

We have people going past all day as we have a public footpath that runs up the side of our front garden past the side of our house and right along the side of the back garden so they only have to put their hands on the copings and heave themselves up to look over the six foot wall ,the foot path takes then into the church yard and up into town .
What we need is some thing sharp put on just under the edge of copings that they cut their fingers on as they get hold of the copings

Evening Everyone

Mandy I am sorry that these villains has done more damage to the pool. You don't think it could be kids do you? Just a thought. Could you not maybe put some sand at the bottom of the wall so if the so and so's come again over the wall they might leave some foortprints? Are the Police coming to you or do you have ot go in to the station? I am keeping everything crossed that there is not going to be a 3rd time . <3

Ooh a supper with possible political talk Pippyn!.. I have to say it would not be ideal evening.A little lighter kind of conversation would be better :-D. Good luck :-D :-D

So you were boiling in the car Frank. How long did you have ot wait for Ros? Could you have not put the engine on and switched the aircon on for a bit. Which Hobby Craft shop was it . Rushen Lakes? It sounds like you have done a goods job on the steps. At least you will feel safe now :-D

Gill I had forgotten that OH tooth was broken when he had his op.At least it out properly now .I know they always ask before an op if you have any crowns or loose teeth.

Mel good job you have the other thing to cook your meat in :-D. Thank goodness you thought about the timer switch being knocked when you cleaned the door. I remember years ago now when I had Mum and Aunty Betty staying here for Xmas and they had been making toast in the grill .I later turned the oven on and put the Turkey in only to realise a bit later that the oven was off. Panic stations then :-D :-D I remembered that my next door neighbour was going to be going out for the day so I rang and asked if I could use his oven. So in my dressingown I ran round with Turkey and popped it in his oven. Came home only to find my oven on !!!!. I then realised that Mum or Betty must have done something to the timer switch. So it was back next door to get the turkey back . I was exhausted LOL .Thankfully though the Turkey turned out fine :-D

Ann is your tummy ok today? I thought you were very brave going out yesterday after all those trips to your 'white friend'. I had to smile at the thought of your spare pants in the boot of the car. What about spare trousers? ;-)

Vera ,hearing you cleaning all your bathroom/ensuites and loo, made me realise I really need to do mine. One main bathroom ,one en suite and the loo downstairs. I still have raised seats on 2 of the loos, and they need taking off to get to clean up under the rims of the loos.I think I am ready to get rid of the raised seats now. I'll take one off first and see how it feels to sit lower again.

I have picked a load of runners this afternoon. I did take the crutch with me as I had ot climb over a little wire fence that is around the raised bed.I think Chris might have had kittens seeing me LOL . The crutch was sinking into the soil as was my sandals which did not make it too easy for me to hobble along the row. I just wasn't able to reach the highest beans that were ready. But I felt quite good that I coped. Thomas ,as I was picking the beans had his eye on something in the long grass and suddenly did the biggest pounce. He had his head in the long grass and had gone as still as a statue so I knew there was a mouse in there . That is when I stopped picking as I did not want to hear the squeaking of a little creature being murdered.
Time to get the oven on .

Mandy do be careful if you put something on the coping to deliberately hurt intruders. If they are badly hurt and make a claim against you the law could find you guilty. There is something in law I think that we have a duty of care to anyone on our premises even if they are trespassers. Have you got any berberis in the garden? If so could you move the bench and put large branches of cut berberis there?

Well done Jane for managing the beans but don’t get carried away go careful.

Annx Report 21 Aug 2019 22:43

Evening All,

I just can't believe they had the nerve to come back and have another go at your pool Mandy. :-0 You'd think they'd be afraid to do that so soon! Are they coming over your wall from the road? Maybe some of that burglar proof paint that never dries painted on the top of the wall would put them off? Maybe the Police have an officer who visits to give security advice? I know we used to have one, but with the cuts I'm not sure if we still have. I thought the tin cans were a good idea as Max might hear that and start barking. The security lights should put them off, we need one round the back. You must almost be afraid of what you might find in the morning now. :-S

Jane, I couldn't decide whether I was brave or foolish!! My spare pants were wrapped up in a pair of black trousers! lol. I had a bowl, loo roll and big plastic bag in the boot as well, so I was prepared for the worst! I said to OH that if we all had to give up our cars there's no way you could travel if slightly 'iffy' . :-S I think it finally stopped at lunchtime today, so we risked a trip to B&Q for some small screws and rawlplugs later this afternoon, as I want to put some pictures up in the hall.

Gill your tree is massive so you have done very well with it!! We have the same trouble as you with our bathroom ceiling. It has paint flaking off it now and needs repainting. I think it's the 2, even 4 showers some hot days and OH's baths on top of that with the water so hot that makes a lot of dampness in ours. I think if the window had both halves openable it would help.

Vera, I must admit to cringing at 4 toilets to clean! Last week we saw a nice 4 bed bungalow for sale near here and that had 2 en suites, a bathroom and hall toilet and my first thought was 4 lots of toilets to clean, but in a bungalow, you could have a guest one that you needn't use yourselves.

I'd better get to bed now and catch up with the rest of the posts tomorrow.

Well as expected it was a lively evening!! OH was in his element as he loves conversation he can get his teeth into!! He says it takes him back to his student days when political conversation was a way of life!! I must admit to enjoying it too as it's good to be able to air your views, particularly amongst long standing friends! Mind you as a family we're not backward in coming forward, particularly our young people!!
so it wasn't too alien!! Anyhow the food was excellent, the conversation interesting, and the world is now a better place!!!? Sadly not, but we live in hopes!
Today is shopping, yuk! but has to be done,so better get on as OH apparently is ready to go!!

Morning Pippyn and all,

Grey skies here today but its not raining so thats a bonus.

Pippyn it sounds like you enjoyed your evening conversation and the meal so not as bad as you expeted it to be. what was the food?

I have Library thismorning and I must'nt forget this week as I didlast time it came. I had to go to the village to change my books.

I still can't get over Mandy's pool being slashed again and have been thinking about it all the time since she posted.

Hope you all had a good nights sleep and that Frank is'nt so achey this morning.

How was your night Vera?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Aug 2019 14:16

Well it dos'nt look like anyone has been able to get on here today apart from me and I have had trouble getting back on here.

Been to the library and Julie gave me more talking books that arn't on the van. A lady in Sheepwash who is partialy sighted give her the cd's but she can't put them on the van with labels on them so she lends them to me and I give them back when I have read them. I don't have to pay for these so its good in a way. This lady likes the stories I like so they are all my kind of thing.

Magpye Report 22 Aug 2019 14:18

We weren't worried about the meal Mel, as the 'cook' is first class!! It was the political conversation that I was a bit concerned about ( OH loves it!!) but it was fine! They are vegetarians so it was a vegetarian meal called Baked Eggplant (!!) with mushroom and tomato sauce! with crusty bread and It was absolutely delicious. Pudding was Apple Strudel with cream, then biscuits and cheese to finish off.
Just had younger granddaughter on the phone to tell us that she's passed 8 out of 9 GCSE's with top three grades! We feel SO proud of her, and she, of course is delighted! The only one she got D for was Spanish, but as she has French and German under her belt we're not that fussed! We didn't talk for long as she was just off to work and didn't want to be late! Goodness young people certainly do work hard these days as they all seem to have holiday jobs from the age of about 14!!!!
Bit of a miserable afternoon so we're lazing about after all our activity and preparing for a hot weekend!! :-D

Frank

Frank Report 22 Aug 2019 14:58

Afternoon all,

Couldn't get on here this morning, no matter what I tried. I did let Mel know that we were O.K. I don't want you worrying.

I sat in the car for a good half hour Jane, It was at SIXFIELDS by Matalan . I don't like to sit in the car with the engine running, and me in the passenger seat. You never know who's around, that might take a chance to pinch car, with an OLD PERSON in it. LOL

Another bad night. I was clock watching from 3.45 am and did everything possible to get to sleep. By 8.00 am I had had enough and got up. For whatever reason, Ros followed me out soon after.

I tried to refit the hook to the fence that keeps the conservatory door open. The screws were so rusted in, that even taking a HAMMER to them I just could not move them. I put a load of "NO NAILS" on the back of the hook plate, but no joy. So next time Ros goes to B & Q she will have to buy another one.

With all the bending and stretching, I didn't do my back and shoulders any good, and have been in pain ever since.

Haven't heard from Harvey about if he needs a meal tonight, and if Lewis in coming with him. So I have done a casserole of shin of beef, made TWO SHEEP S@@@ pies, for either tonight if anyone wants it. If not, Lewis can have them while Harvey is in France. He goes tomorrow. I try to think ahead regarding Lewis, as I know he will just buy JUNK FOOD when he's not working. Loads of SPUDS done, Runner Beans, Broard Beans and Cabbage. If they don't come for a meal I will put the excess Veg in the fridge for tomorrow.

I see you still talk about "MY WHITE FRIEND| when referring to the loo. lol lol I didn't think it would stick.

Ros is down the boarder chopping down the Globe Thistles, which have grown so large this year, for whatever reason, they are drooped over the lawn.

Still no luck with the Bracelet, so will go to the Antique place in Brackley over the weekend, to see what they have. It's a big warehouse with dozens of small outlets. You can buy virtually anything Antique. It will take a good couple of hours to get around, so I hope there are plenty of seats around, to rest up on.

There are some good suggestions coming your way Mandy, lets hope something will work for you. Good luck xxx

I made Ros a COT an hour ago, and it still sits on the patio table. Harvey has just rung to say he won't want a meal tonight and that Lewis is working until 8.00 pm, so will cook for them both, later. He says he will be here after 5.00 pm. So I will hold up our meal till after he goes home.

Going to see if I can get a few zzzz. See you later. I started this post ages ago, and forgot about it with the phone calls etc.

AnninGlos Report 22 Aug 2019 16:34

Afternoon all. We are just back from a day out in Ledbury with some of our U3A friends. Years since we were last there and OH doesn't even remember going there. It is a very busy town with lots of black and white buildings The lady who organised the trip had printed of some information about various places so we were able to learn about when they were built and what the building originally were. There is a very attractive black and white market hall supposedly the best in the country. and a house now used as a sort of visitor centre that has a 'painted room' upstairs which we were able to see. The walls are covered in paintings done in the 16th century. The paintings were uncovered when the place was being refurbished. when I have downloaded and have time I will put some photos on the blog. We also went into two other buildings both museums now but one was a 19th century school, the other is a house that was moved from the high street to its present position in a little lane that leads to the church.
We had a very nice lunch in one of the pubs in the town. I had a very tasty cottage pie made with Hereford beef and OH had a homemade Beef, vegetable and Ale pie and chips. Really tasty.
So no meal to cook tonight.

I’ve had no trouble getting on but haven’t had time to write a post. Will try to come back later. The only thing I did wonder is whether the people getting most error messages are those that stay logged in. I always log out when I have finished and log back on next time and I never seem to have trouble getting in. I occasionally get the error message when a page or post is very slow to load. I think it must time out.
