Afternoon Everyone

It sounded quite a party last night Frank. Lovely for you to see family and been shown off :-D :-D.. I had thought the party was actually at Simon and Sally's house. You did well to last until 10.30. How long was the journey home?

No rain so far here. It has been hot with the sun BUT I can see some suspicious looking clouds now.
Oh dear Gill, sorry your dryer has packed up.I dont know what `i would do without mine now. Are you going ot have to get a new one or have this one repaired ?

I hope the family didn't get too soaked when they left you Mandy. I remember a pic you sent years ago of one of your Toad in the Holes :-D It was HUGE. I think you said it puffed up so high you could just about get it out of the oven !!!. I must do a Toad in Hole again although it wont be as good as yours.

The party next door last night went on until about midnight. I could hear Al this morning collecting all the bottles up :-D. Lots of clinking noises :-D :-D

I have been to Tesco this morning and it was really busy. I spotted a lovely linen grandad style shirt (collarless ) and thought it would be perfect for James,so bought it as a little pressie. He is off to Lisbon with Hannah for 5 nights in Sept and the shirt is ideal for taking. They have never been away together before, but I think it is a lovely thing. It was Hannah's idea as she knew James needs to have a break. He and Jess are not having a holiday together.I just wish I knew what the heck is going on with those two.

Gill is it the first Paddington film you have to watch? I have seen that one and the second one and really enjoyed both.Even Chris did :-D

I dreamt last night that Kate MIddleton came to stay and I gave her a jar of Plum Jam
What was that all about!!!!

Full up now nd it just started raining again.

Shame about the mower Frank but it could be better if you bnbought a new that has a guarantee.

Going to have a bake this afternoon I think.

SuffolkVera Report 18 Aug 2019 17:15

I’m just catching up with emails and the pictures you have sent.

What a strange looking vegetable Ann. Have you tried it yet? What does it taste like?

Larry must have been thrilled with his cake Jane. I love the cyclist. That’s a fine crop of onions. They’ll keep you going for a little while. My daughter has had a good crop too and brought me some last week as she knows I miss the veg garden I had at our old house.

I’m glad you enjoyed the party yesterday Frank. What a pity about your mower. I hope you can find a new one that cuts the height you like.

You’re not having much luck lately are you Gill, what with all the building going on around you, then your television and now your dryer. Is it a minor problem that can be repaired cheaply or will you have to get a new one or manage without? I use mine as little as possible but I wouldn’t want to be without it.

Our pork was very tasty with lots of veg and sage and onion stuffing instead of my usual apple sauce, a glass of rose for me and a glass of red for OH - his first drink for many weeks. The rain had stopped so I went and did a bit of deadheading and took some penstemon cuttings.

It looks as though it’s going to pour again at any minute so I think I will make a cup of tea and catch up on one or two programmes on the iPlayer.

That was nice for your oh Vera to be able to have a glass of wine with your dinner. Sounded really nice but I would have had to have had apple sauce too as I only like a little bit of stuffing. Oh would eat a plate full of stuffing if I let him. He has even been known to eat it out of the packet, yuk.

OI have finished my latest project and I shan't be making another.............. It was a devil to do and I am not very pleased with it.

Jane Report 18 Aug 2019 18:42

I bet the glass of red went down well with OH Vera after so long. Hope it hasn't made him too tiddly :-D

I have had a very upsetting chat on the phone this afernoon with the daughter of my good friend Sue who is so ill. I have cried buckets. Sue was taken back to hospital a couple of days ago . She has stage 4 lung cancer and is n the oncology ward,on oxygen. I don't think I will get to see her again :-( :-( :-(.. Her daughter said she is refusing to see or speak to anyone . James has been a tower of strength for me this afternoon and coped with all my tears.

So sorry to hear about your friend Jane! This sort of news is so upsetting and difficult to accept. Is your OH away? If so it's lucky your son's at home to support you.

Gosh I am first this morning. Have read back but too many to answer so start again this morning. Good morning all back from 4 days in Hampshire, weather was a bit iffy at times, mainly Friday when it rained from 2pm until into the night. Still it was good to re-visit and to catch up with family, especially the young generation who all seem to be thriving.. Washing etc now today, even a weekend seems to generate extra washing. I am probably repeating myself here but too lazy to trawl back and see how much I said before.

Mel, are you going to want those dies cut? Only we go away on 31st for 2 weeks so would like to get them done and posted if you do. :-) :-)

Morning AnnG and all,

Quite sunny and bright here this morning at times but there are white and grey clouds scudding across the sky. I hav'nt been out yet so not sure if its windy or not. The trees are moving so it must be windy. I have to sit here and be a good girl as oh is in the shower so I mustkeep away from the taps.

AnnG I am not in any hurry for the dies to be cut and shall have to fet some cards sorted for you to emboss the dandelions one. I just have to find a few cards. I will see how it goes as I have other parcels to post too but our post van only comes for a couple of hours so I usually miss it.

Morning all

It was sunny here but there are lots of black clouds around so I expect we'll have some rain soon.

Sorry to hear about your friend Jane, that was nice of James to be there for you when you were so upset. How nice of Hannah to think about going away with her brother, it'l be nice for them to have some sibling time together.

It sounds like you've had a nice time away seeing your family AnnG. Pity about the rain though.

Love the pics Mel and your new make.

I see you had a good time with your family Frank, you did well to last till 10.30, hope the journey home was a good one and didn't take to long.

Yes, it's a nuisance about the dryer, OH had a word with someone who can fix it and was told it's something to do with the start button, it's going to cost almost the same as buying a new dryer to fix, so I'm going to see if the guarantee is still in force and give them a ring, if it isn't then we'll buy a new one.

Sandra had us watching lots of films I'd recorded yesterday, but we ran out of time to watch Paddington. I think it's the first one Jane as it didn't have the number 2 after it. Hopefully we'll get around to watching it today as OH is spending the day with his friend.

Frank Report 19 Aug 2019 11:26

Good morning all, overcast and windy here. I walked to the Drs. for my injection this morning. Just as I arrived Ros was parking the car. So she bought me home. Louise the nurse was pleased with my weight, I have put on a little. I didn't have to pull down my trousers, for the injection, as I undid my belt, they fell to my ankles. lol lol. I have made an appointment to see a Doctor, after both Ros and Louise nagged me into it. My back, shoulders and neck, just don't give me any rest bite, so will see what they recommend. Moe tablets and creams no doubt. I don't think there is much they can do, that I am not doing myself. I am sure it's all down to my Arthritis.

We had very nice meal yesterday. I have never seen the place so busy. When we joined the queue we had to wait HALF AN HOUR to get served. The queue didn't seem to go down, and was still busy when we left at 4.45 pm. We didn't have a sweet as they had run out of ICE CREAM and Treacle pudding (that Ros fancied)

The journey back from Daventry is only about 29 minutes, and with the roads being quiet, it was no trouble getting home. Sally rang last night, she had just opened all her presents and was pleased with the necklace that Ros had bought her. My Niece and Nephew called round at Simon's before going home, and had a coffee.

How nice for James and Hannah having a little break together. I just couldn't see me doing that with any of my sisters. We were never that close, even my TWIN.

Bad, and sad news about your friend Jane, I hope when the time comes, that she doesn't suffer. I know we have all been through these experiences, but they are never a happy event. Where does she live. ??

It's Tracy's birthday today, so Ros has been round with a card and present. She is working in the Charity shop today, so I expect we will get a visit later to thank us.

Roast shoulder of lamb tonight, with Runners from Carolyn's allotment, fresh peas and carrots, and cabbage.and new potato's If theres any over it will do for me tomorrow, when Ros goes out on a Mystery Coach Trip, and a meal with Mothers club. They meet up at 6.15 pm at the Village Hall car park. So a nice evening on my own !!!!

Ros is just doing the next months tablets, then she will do the prescriptions, to replace all she is using now. Where do the months go. ???

Be good, and don't do anything I wouldn't. xxxx

Morning all,

Jane I'm really sorry to hear about your dear friend ,it's so sad to think you'll not see her again and lovely of James to be there for you to mop your tears <3

We've had quite a morning ,when I looked out this morning I could see the water level on the pool had really gone down and when I went out I could see why ,some body had been in the garden over night ,they had slashed a bit slit in the pool in two places and pulled the pipe off to the pump ,they had opened the wood shed door nothing to take in there and the main shed was locked so they couldn't get in there but they chucked Max's ball in the pool and stood my spray bottle that I have on to the cap of the wall .
They came over the six foot wall as they have dislodged the wall copings all the way along and went back over the wall by jumping on the garden seat .
Nothing taken just the damage .
Rang the police and reported it and got a crime number but it doesn't look like they will be out to look ,the neighbours security cameras only go to our fence ,I did ask them and they checked but nothing came up .

Oh phones ringing BBL

Afternoon All,

Sun's peeping through but not very strongly. I was still awake at 4.00am this morning, so then ended up sleeping in. :-S

That is sad about your old friend Jane. Could you write her a nice letter with a pretty card and whizz it off to her to let her know what a good friend she is and of some memories together? Her daughter could read it to her if she can't and it may put some happy thoughts in her head.

When do you think James will know about any redundancy? I hope he hears soon as I wouldn't be able to enjoy a break with that hanging over me. It was nice of Hannah to suggest it though and hopefully she will be able to help him with ideas and thoughts for his next steps if he does get made redundant. She seems to be a very proactive, get on with things person.

Lovely photos of the deer with that sweet little fawn Mel and I liked your bag.....good idea to use the shell as a horn!

Glad you had a nice time and saw some of the family Ann. I'm always glad to get the washer on when I get back from a break. As you say, even a short stay seems to generate extra washing.

Gill I think you will enjoy Paddington. OH and I went to see both of the films and enjoyed them. It's a shame about your dryer. Could you get a quote first? It seems a bit drastic that a start button costs as much as a new machine. It isn't that old is it.

It's good Sally liked her present Frank. I'm surprised the carvery was so busy that time of day. Round here things are usually quiet after 2.30pm and I would hate to have to queue. Some are so slow deciding what they want as well. We are glad the children are back at school today as they race about when people are carrying plates of hot food and their parents say nothing. They are as bad as the children shouting as well.

Off to do a few errands now.

Annx Report 19 Aug 2019 12:46

Oh Mandy, I just saw your post and what a shock to find people have been over your wall and caused the damage to your pool and wall. Why do they do these things? It sounds like they were looking for things to steal and sell. It makes me really angry as no-one is that poor these days, no starving like in times gone by. That just leaves drug or other habits to fund or greed. Then it seems they have to trash something when they can't find anything. I hope there is some CCTV somewhere near or up the road that has caught them on camera.

Gillx

Gillx Report 19 Aug 2019 12:49

Oh Mandy I'm so sorry to hear of all the damage done in your garden, I hope they catch who ever did it, but it'll be hard without video evidence from your neighbours camera. Can you claim on your insurance for the damage? I should imagine it will cost quite a lot to fix everything, especially your pool. I hope everything can be sorted soon for you all. Sending a big hug from Sandra and I <3 <3

It's a good job Barry noticed the spark from your lawn mower Frank, that could of led to a nasty accident. What a shame it couldn't be fixed, hope you find another one soon. It sounds like you've had a lovely time with family lately.

Magpye

Magpye Report 19 Aug 2019 12:55

Goodness Mandy, so sorry to hear about your break in. Not sure that the police will catch who did it though!! I do hope that the pool is repairable. ,A quiet day here after our lovely but hectic weekend! Our grandson really enjoyed his time with us, got his project almost finished, he just has to write it up neatly and do a bit of map drawing! He helped OH with clearing up the hedge clippings which saved me a job! He wanted to use the hedge clipper, but was firmly told No!
I think it's only the Scottish schools that go back today Ann, as they break up earlier than schools in England and Wales. Our grandson goes back on Sept 4th!
Sunny here so a gentle walk this afternoon!
Hope everyone has a nice day.
