Annx Report 2 Jul 2019 20:03

Afternoon All,

A bit changeable here, sun then dull, cooler and a bit breezy, so the conservatory top windows have been flapping up and down like a bird's wings when we had lunch in there. We couldn't seem to get the temper

Good to hear from you Jane! :-D I wondered how the sleeping on your back would go and can imagine trying to turn when you are half asleep. It's good you are getting on with the crutches ok. I'm not surprised you are finding it hard to settle to anything just yet. I hope Fitz is doing well too and doing all his exercises too! That's good for Val that she is improving and will have a 6 week spell in a nursing home. I must say I wouldn't fancy Tony looking after me.

It sounds like you will soon be able to finish your tree Mel if all goes well. :-) Yes I was late to bed last night as I had made a mistake in the bracelet I'm making and had to undo quite a bit and wanted to know I'd got it right again before I left it to go to bed. Once you know there is a mistake you have to sort it as your eye is drawn to it every time you look. I meant to say that the necklace you made for your friend sounded lovely so no wonder she was chuffed with it. I have just finished packing my bag with material, sequins, ribbon, beads and buttons for tomorrow's class.

Mrs O and the newly retired lady next door to her seem to be out on the front all the time seeing what's going on when we come and go now which OH hates. When we got back the other day, he had to dash inside quickly as he needed the loo and the newly retired woman in the corner shouted across 'Isn't he speaking?' which really annoyed him when I told him. As they are both always out on the front cleaning or tidying something......he's come up with new names for them....... Kim and Aggie!! What is he like!! He had a blood test at the doctors' yesterday as they saw he was swollen a bit one side and bloated. The surgery rang back today and he has to have another blood test tomorrow as inflammation was showing on the previous one. He wasn't too keen as he hates needles, then he couldn't remember where the first needle went in and argued with me who remembered the cotton wool pad was to the outside of his arm. I don't think he was happy with the idea the hole would be bigger if they went in the same place again!! lol. His parting comment as he walked out of the kitchen was that he didn't know why we bothered to watch the tv prog GPs behind closed doors as we were living it!

I feel worn out now as I have hoovered and steam mopped the uti, kitchen, bathroom and en suite (with several sit down rests in between!). OH watered the pots and put the washing out and did some weeding first thing.

I seem to have been bitten on the side of my face so I better put some cream on and take an antihystamine. Some bites tend to get huge on me.

Vera It's good your OH is improving little by little and that he managed to put the blueberry cage together for you. I hope you enjoy your meet up with the ladies.

What are your garden sandpits Frank? I had visions of sand bunkers on a golf course. OH is watching the match at home. I hope little Winston gets a clean bill of health after his ordeal. :-0

I wish my OH was a dab hand at cleaning AnnG. He does put the washing out and fetch it in and does the ironing, but shoving the hoover where you can see is as much cleaning as he does. I don't have to do much cooking though and even eating at home he gets himself rolls and things on toast and makes me cups of tea when I want so I'm thankful for that.

Gill, a pretty pink envelope arrived today which must be yours, so OH has squirrelled it away till the day......thank you! <3 That was a mucky job you did with the rill, but at least the water can flow away better now. I hope your OH is getting less sore now. Do you see much of the new neighbours and did you say they have a baby?

Gillx

Gillx Report 2 Jul 2019 21:09

OH is feeling much better now Vera he said he only gets a few twinges every now and then. The antibiotics have almost done their job, he finishes them tomorrow, so all in all he's doing much better now. Even though your OH's improvements are slow he'll soon get there and be able to move around more freely as the days pass. He did well to make up the cage for your blueberries didn't he?

No Ann the neighbours next door are pensioners, so no baby. Maybe you're thinking of the other new neighbour over the road, she's just had a baby, but we don't see her much. We haven't seen much of next door either, although we've heard them talking in the back garden. We do say hello if we see each other in the front. I think he looks after his elderly mum, so is in and out most of the day. They're good names your OH came up with, Kim and Aggie, for your two neighbours, they do sound like nosey people looking at what everyone is up to though. Pleased to see your birthday card arrived okay.

Lovely to see you on here Jane. Sandra is pleased you like the card she made for you. Yes, she's in to Flamingo's in a big way at the moment, probably because they're pink. ;-) I'm sure you'll be able to concentrate soon, you've been through a lot lately and it'll take time for things to settle down. I hope you have a better nights sleep tonight. Happy birthday to Fitz, I hope he had a nice day, even if he probably can't do much. I'm sure he loved the bottle of wine Chris took to him.

Hope all went well with Winston when he went to the vet Frank and there's no lasting effects from his accident. Enjoy your time at the pub if you go.

Ann I am no where near finishing my tree.

Did the hsopping with no messing about just there shop and back. Its been a lovely day here today with plenty of the yellow stuff and a bit of a breeze.

Saw two baby foxes squashed on the road to Bideford. I had the baby fox trying to get in the hog feeding station last night. He went through one of the bigger holes in the sheep netting and got a bit stuck the first time he did it. The second time I shot at it and it really got tied up in the wire but ran away so I only frightened it.

Morning all,

Hope everyone slept well last night. I had a job going to sleep last night but I did'nt get up for the loo for the first time in I don't know how many years.

We have a lovely bright sunny morning here without a cloud in the sky and the rees are hardly stirring. If it stays calm I shall clean the big girls out today as its hard to do when its windy cos the sawdust blows around and in your face.

Hope Jane is coping with sleeping on her back. How long does that have to go on for?

Good morning all, sunny here too so far. One load of washing done and another in the machine and nearly finished. OH gone to golf.

Hope you got a bit more sleep last night Jane

No plans for today, not a lot to do in the garden at the moment so maybe make some cards.

Frank Report 3 Jul 2019 10:42

Good morning all, Yes we have the yellow stuff also. and a nice clear blue sky, with NO breeze, so I expect it will get very warm later.

I couldn't be bothered to go to the pub last night. So sat in the conservatory and watched the football. The girls were very unlucky to lose, but overall the best team won. I hope tonights game is as good.

Jane it must be very difficult to stay on your back all night. I think we all turn over many times during the night, and don't even know we are doing it. As for boredom, theres not a lot you can do, other than do what you are doing. Can you get into the garden yet. ?? That would give you a break from the FOUR WALLS.

Pleased to hear Ann and Vera's OHs are making steady progress. It does seem a long haul for yours Vera. Slowly does it. lol lo.

Ros picked up her Antibiotics last night. I can't believe the dose. ONE TABLET PER DAY with food. She has SIX WEEKS SUPPLY. I have told her to check with the surgery, that this is correct, but she hasn't done so yet.

I have been watching a programme each morning called "ILL GOTTON GAINS" as you can imagine it relates to Criminals and their crimes. The sentences laid down by the courts are ludicrous, Eight years for £390,000.00 of drug dealing in cash, together with many Rolex watches, Mercedes car, top of the range Motor bike, and high living that you would never believe. MOAN OVER.

Ros, is just off to have her nails done, and get some liver for tonights dinner. She is also taking back a blind she bought at the RANGE. That doesn't fit.

Off for a shower and a sit in the sun. What a hard life. lol lol Perhaps getting a bit of sun on my back, will help to ease this horrible pain in my neck and shoulders.

See you later. xxxx

Morning all,

Lovely day here with lots of sunshine ,we have Lacey's sports day this afternoon .

Ann I'm pleased you found what you wanted in Ali ,looking forward to see what you make today with them .

Jane nice to see you posting ,Colin hated the having to sleep on his back too and had very restless nights so he had sleeps in the day to make up for not sleeping at night .
He found he was tired after the op as just getting a strip wash and dressing took quite a while to do and took it out of him.
Hope Fitz is coming along nicely after his op.

Better get my jobs done before an early lunch and off to the sports ,I can hear them practising as I'm sitting out here in the garden.

Hi all

Nice and sunny here. OH managed to drive me round the corner to collect the wood, not that there was much left after all the neighbours taking some, but it's better than nothing and will save us a bit of money, we'll still have to buy more wood to complete the job though. I don't think OH will be driving again for at least another week, we have a big car and I'm concerned he might end up doing to much to soon, he's cut the lawns today even though I said I'd do them, mind you that's just gentle walking up and down so he could probably managed that. He finishes his antibiotics today so hopefully his cough will go completely then, he's not coughing as much now so they're doing there job.

Just had a letter to say our gas is going to be cut off while new pipework is being laid, we're not sure when it's going to be yet, but they said they'd let us know. My only concern is that they may have to dig holes in our front garden and drive, so I hope they don't ruin all our hard work as the garden is starting to look nice now. Also they may want to move the gas meter outside. To be honest I wouldn't mind that so long as they don't damage the garden to much.

So you're off to a sports day today Mandy, I used to love watching my girls at their sports day, at least Lacey has the weather for it. I hope she does well and enjoys herself.

Hope you had a better nights sleep last night Jane. Just keep thinking each day is a day closer to being fit and well again. Maybe you could do a puzzle if you're bored that would keep you occupied for a while. How is Fitz doing, have you compared notes yet? lol ;-)

How did Winston get on at the vets Frank, you never said. I hope he was okay and there were no lasting effects. Hope the sun helps your bad shoulder and neck.

So you have a nice relaxing day today AnnG with no gardening to do. I've finished all my jobs for today to, so will be having another go at OH's tree, there's still lots to do, but I do enjoy it.

How is your OH today Vera, I hope he's still improving.

Going to get a cuppa now, I'm quite thirsty after moving all the wood.

Lake District photos on the blog. Either the blog or the PC were playing up so some of the photos loaded out of order and there is no way of moving them so I hope it is not too confusing..

Also garden photos from 1 July.

Gillx Report 3 Jul 2019 15:34

Love all the photo's AnnG, you're very good at taking them. Your garden is wonderful, I wish mine looked like that, it's very green at the moment with hardly any colour as we seem to have a break between flowers that have just died off and other's that haven't bloomed yet, so it's looking a bit boring right now. Hopefully in the next few weeks we'l have a bit more colour, but I doubt it'll look as good as your garden. You should be very proud of all your hard work. Sandra loves the Zoo pictures and enjoyed looking at them.

I'm really tired at the moment so I'm going to have a little sleep, I had a very late night last night and was up quite early this morning. OH is already asleep on the sofa and I think Sandra has fell asleep on her bed. Maybe it's the warm weather making us all so tired to.

Afternoon all. Well so much for sitting in the SUN. No chance, the clouds come over and it turned very HUMID. Still no S/S.

I had a delivery this morning of more "BIO FREEZE" both in cream and roll on. Have tried the roll on, it seems to dry quicker than the cream, so better if you are wearing a shirt.

Eos got her nails done and took the blind back, then met up with Carolyn for a Jacket Potato lunch. Carolyn had exchanged some Tesco vouchers, so was using those to pay. OH no you can't !!! They are only exchangeable for a main meal. Not that it's mentioned anywhere on the vouchers. I would complain if it was me,

So your are all sleepy heads up there Gill. lol lol. I do all I can, not to drop of during the day, as it's bad enough, trying to sleep as it is. If I slept during the day I would never sleep at night. I haven't heard from Harvey regarding WINSTON as his phone is on the blink. Will try again tonight.

So you have named the blackbird BORIS. whats the hen called. ?? Have all the chicks survived alright Mel ??

I still haven't been able to open your BLOG AnnG, I don't know what I am doing wrong. I expect Mel will soon tell me. ;-) ;-)

How are you today Jane, finding things a little easier now I hope.?? Just take your time, and I'm sure you will be getting around, as you were a few weeks ago. Hows Fitz doing ??

Would you believe the SUN has now decided to show it's face, a bit late for me, as I have started another chapter of my book, that I can't take outside, because it's too bright on the screen. :-P :-P :-P

Time to get things sorted for dinner, not that I am hungry. I had toast and Pate at lunchtime and still feel quite full. !!!

I sent Frank the blog address AnnG.

We've had sun all day.

I first did two lots of washing and got that on the line then I hoovered the hall bedroom and spare room. Then strimmed a bit in the back garden and then around the new hen house as the grass had grown between the paving slabs.

Thought about cleaning the loos but oh asked me for something and that took the rest of the morning.

Thought I would go up the border this afternoon but oh had a new bit for our outdoor clock arrive and he was trying to put it together when he dropped a very small nut that goes between the hands. He was looking for it on his hands and knees on the decking. We could'nt find it so it must have gone down between the decking boards. I spent the rest of the early afternoon looking through all the pots and boxes of odds and ends to look for another nut the right size. In the end he had to put a bit of piping on and a bigger nut. The new hands they sent with the clock ineards are black and don't show up well on the green clock face. The last ones were silver.

Hav'nt done a thing since and certainly never got up the border and now its time to put the chicken crown in the oven and feed the girls again.

Good evening

A quick post today. I hope everyone with aches and pains and problems is feeling a bit better today. Thankfully OH has improved quite a bit over the last day or two though it will be a while before he gets back to his long walk every morning. He can still only get around the house.

I hope you are managing to get some sleep on your back Jane and are not too uncomfortable.

I hope Ros's antibiotics finally clear up her problem. Six weeks seems a long while to take them. Have you heard anything more about Winston Frank? With luck, he will have made a full recovery with no lasting effects.

The photos are great Ann. Inara looks a sweetie-pie and she looks very like our 4 year old great niece. I shall have to find a photo of her to compare with Inara. Your garden is very colourful. Ours is probably at its most colourful at this time of year as well - lots of blues, purples and yellow shades. It's a shame yours is quite green at the moment Gill but green can be very restful particularly if you have different shades of colour and different shape leaves.

I am very tired and headachy tonight. I am sleeping really badly and last night only got 2 hours. I am going to try for an early night today and am going to take a sleeping pill. I don't like taking them as the ones I have are a controlled drug that I have to sign for and they can be quite addictive. I only take them occasionally and then never take them for more than 2 nights in a row, but tonight I am feeling desperate for sleep.

Sweet dreams everyone :-)

Frank Report 4 Jul 2019 10:41

Good morning all, Happy FORTH OF JULY. !!!

Like you Vera, I don't sleep that well. I stayed up until 10.00 pm last night, and was still awake when Ros came in at 12.30 am Had a disturbed night with pains my shoulders. OLD AGE isn't something I would recommend . ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

How is our Jane this morning, I hope you had a comfortable night, and managed to get some sleep.

Poor you and OH Mel, It was "SEARCHING IN A HAYSTACK" trying to find that nut. The trouble is when they hit the ground, they can go anywhere. !!! I have this trouble shelling PEAS, there is always one that gets away, and I expect ends up under the Washing Machine.

Lovely sunny morning here. Ros has gone to "stitchery do" at the Scouts Hut. I managed to get her sewing machine and two bags into the front passenger well, so she should be able to manage to get it out. She bought herself a little bag trolly, the machine fits perfectly and it has four wheels and extendable handle for pulling in along.

She has a large project she is going to attempt. She is making a blind to go over the bedroom window. The pattern looks very complex, and is made up of over 240 pieces of material all cut out on a template. She is also knitting a lot of "TWIDDLE MUFFS" that people with Dementia, can put their hands in, inside she sews little trinkets that they can TWIDDLE. Hence the name. She has given a lot to a local care home, and is now doing a lot to give to SALLY for some of her patients.

No plans this end today. Ros. watered everywhere last night, which only leaves the greenhouse to do later. So I will sit out for a while, then sort out dinner for tonight. Then I expect it will be reading time.

Hope everyone is fighting fit this morning lol lol

Morning Frank and all,

Beautiful sunshine here this morning AGAIN but there are little long whispy cloudsto the north. Can't see anywhere else from the cornier of my kitchen, only to the north up the garden.

Arose at 7am for the loo and went back to sleep till 11am when oh woke me up telling me it was late. I hate it when he leaves me so long as the day seems so short and I don't gets done what I want to get done.

Now I have a horrid fly keep flying around my mug of tea so I better drink it before I knock it all over the pc.

I had trouble getting on here last night it kept coming up all silly and stretched out. Was'nt sureif it was me or them so I just shut down.

I hope Jane's getting on ok and has had a better nights sleep. Its a week today!! is'nt it? Gosh it has gone quickly but I bet not for Jane. Sending love and hope your not getting too excited about tomorrow.

AnninGlos Report 4 Jul 2019 12:22

Good afternoon all, I had a dentist appointment this morning for the second side deep clean. Not the most comfortable one I have had. /the spray he uses before the actual injections went down my throat so my throat was numb and I had difficulty swallowing. That comes back pretty quickly but the other injections are taking longer this time, almost 2 hours so far. Still hopefully won't have to go again now until January.

Vera I hope you are feeling better today. It is so hot at night that it is difficult to get to sleep. I finally managed about 1am and didn't sleep too badly which was unusual with the dentist looming the next day.
Yes Inara can be a little charmer but she is terribly strong willed with a bit of a paddy so can also be a little terror. She is actually much worse at wanting her own way when Mum is with her, she doesn't try it on quite so much with Nanny or Nana as we ignore her.

Frank have you managed to get on the blog yet?

Mel, why is it always the tiny screws and bolts that go AWOL. Maybe not a good idea to not cover the cracks in the decking with something but that is with hindsight

Pleased everyone liked the photos. Only a couple of Inara I don't usually put the childrens' photos on social media but that blog is a closed group so I hope it is ok.

Gillx Report 4 Jul 2019 14:10

Afternoon all

Sunny again here today so I've put some solar lights in the back garden, I'm not sure if they'll come on tonight as they have been sitting in a box for almost 2 years (I forgot about them) so they may take a while for the batteries to charge again. I've got about 9 boxes of 18 lights, but for now I've just put one box of lights out. The lawns look good after OH cutting them yesterday, although they are starting to go a bit patchy in the sun so he's going to water them this evening when the sun starts to go down, he said if he does it now it could burn the grass with the sunlight going on the drops of water.

I didn't have a very good nights sleep last night, it was so hot even though I had a fan on me, so I watched a bit of TV and finally dropped off around 6am, but then I didn't wake up until 10am. I've put a couple of Fuchsia's in the side border this morning, they are starting to flower, so should brighten the border up soon. My Crocosmia's are starting to show signs of flowers coming, so hopefully in a week or two I should have more colour in the garden again.

Yes Sandra loved the Flamingos on your blog AnnG and all the other animals and flowers to. I liked the photo of the Penguins, I think they are so funny the way they walk. Inara looks a bit like my niece when she was that age.

Sorry to hear you lost the nut Mel, at least your OH sorted the clock out in the end. Have you thought of spraying the hands of the clock silver that way you'll be able to see them?

Hope everyone is feeling a bit better today. OH enjoyed his lay in this morning as he's now finished his antibiotics so didn't need to get up early.
