I am back.... and gutted!! Tom Tom broke down in the middle of God knows where... I don't know Newport at all... I had a map with me, just in case, but there was nowhere for me to safely pull over to read it.... anyway, I got there 20 minutes late.. took over an hour to do a12 minute journey!! So I have to go through the whole thing again on Thursday.. I went in and offered to pay for the missed appointment..

I almost wept, I was so frustrated!

So.... I stopped at T****o and bought two pairs of trousers, had lunch, then went into Hobbycraft... I have bought some more stuff, lolol

Well... must pop across to A**a and see if they can give me some culinary inspiration... I don't know what I fancy to eat for dinner tonight!! Grrrr! I'll pop back on the boards when I am in a better mood!

Daff sorry you missed your dental appointment because of your car breaking down. I can understand how you feel about having to wait until Thursday. I would be just the same. as I'm terrified of dentists.

Well at least you had two pairs of new trousers, lunch and a trip to Hobbycraft--but it is still annoying that they couldn't fit you in, seeing that you offered to pay for the lost appointment.

Apart from that I hope you are feeling less tired. Good luck for Thursday.
I'll be thinking about you!

Daff, is Tom Tom the name of your car or a navigation system? I thought it was the latter. At least next time you should know the way and know that you will need to leave home 2 or 3 hours earlier to make sure of getting there on time and not have to go through the trauma of looking forward to the dental visit again. I cant say dentists worry me too much. My dentist seems to be very good. she pulled a tooth out and I didnt feel a thing and didnt even hear the crunching and cracking that I usually hear, which is as bad as feeling anything.

Huia (who really should go and see a dentist soon but doesnt know what to do with her OH when she does - perhaps if I plonk him down in the waiting room with my handbag and tell him not to budge from there as he has to mind my stuff......)

Morning all... well, I slept like a log last night, so feel much chirpier today, lol!

Sallie, Tom Tom is my Sat Nav, not my car... my car is Suzee Sunshine, because she is bright bright yellow!! lol

~~~~~~to Susan.... hiya!! I read your bit about London sausage.... I'll try them next time I am in Tesco's..... I bought some period paper, some little rosebuds, a pack of yellow, easter-type paper with loads of embellishments and ribbons and photo cutouts, reduced from £7.99 to £2.99... some feathers, and some little things that normally go on those bags for *favours* at a wedding....some coloured pens and 2 rolls of pretty adhesive film.... apart from the favour embellishments, I had no need for the other stuff... but it was all so pretty, and I got carried away!
Huia, isn't there a respite service you can access? Most countries seem to have them... although they are not often advertised, and you would need to search out and ask about them.... there is almost bound to be a Dementia Carers website... I'll go and have a look in a minute..... not just for the dentist, but for allowing you some *you* time, or going for a GP visit or something!!
I had inspiration from Asda... bought dinner, and then wandered around the clothing bit... bought myself two tops, and then saw some lovely stuff for Princess Dynamo... who is coming to visit on the 17th for a few days. She is just so easy to entertain, even if the weather is bad... she will sit for hours with craft stuff, paints, paper, glue and sparkly bits, lol.... I have her creations all over the place... she is a budding genius, of course ;¬)) Mamiddau, you would love the pair of them, lol!! I don't get to see them that often.... one lives in Corrie country, the other In Emmerdale Estates, lol... little one is rarely cross or miserable, but very very independent... she is just over 3... the older one is cute as sixpence..... son has been told that she is a natural leader, lol.... wasn't best pleased when I jokingly asked if that was modern teacher speak for *bossy boots* lol.... she is, mind... a bossy boots, I mean, but in the nicest possible way. She is just over 4. They are our absolute delights...... absolutely perfect!!
Hiya Maz... chucking it down here, as well... so miserable, isn't it? Everything in the garden is looking so fed-up and bedraggled, and very sorry for itself... we really need a couple of good days sunshine.
BC.... I do hope the vet has good news about your little doggy today...... sending you some ((((((((((hugs)))))))))
~~~~~~~~ to Jude and Jean ~~~~~~~~

I do hope the weather is better in Exmouth, for Ann.

Well......... off to find something to avoid doing, use up some energy!!

Hi Daff, pleased to hear that you are feeling better today.
Sorry I thought you were talking about your car. Like you--we don't know Newport very well and have alwayst lost our way when we've been there. When we go down to Wales, we much prefer to go to Cardiff, although we haven't had time to go to Cardiff for a few years. The time goes so quickly when we visit my brother and his family, we never seem to do what we had planned.

Well the weather isn't very good here in Derbyshire today. Been to A **a to do our weekly shopping--we have visitors tomorrow, so had to go and get some extra food in. They live in North Wales, we haven't seen them for a while-- so looking forward to seeing them.

Take care of yourself.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Daff, I am entitled to 28 days respite care per year. The only trouble is that I have to find somebody to come here to look after OH while I go somewhere else. There is a Care Company which will come. I asked if they will walk him but failed to explain that 'walk' is more like heavy duty hiking. Not footpaths, all uphill one way or the other. The spare bedroom is too full of 'junk' at present to have somebody come to stay! other than my sister and she wont want to stay with him by herself. I am trying to throw a lot of the stuff up into the attic so that the spare bedroom has room to swing a cat (but not our beautiful Chloe). Unfortunately other things keep cropping up, like a jury summons for OH which meant that I had to fill up the form saying there was no way he could possibly do it and then I had to find something to photocopy to show them that he really does have a problem. And we have been out to lunch today to farewell some people who have lived in the district even longer than we have. And we havent been shopping this week so are out of milk.
Better go and do it soon.
Huia.

Hi Daff and all,

lovely that your littley is so good at craft things, and can keep herself happily occupied - I hate to hear kids whining they are bored when there are always things to do from next to nothing really. Both your granddaughters sound adorable, how I miss access to small children after so many years of doing childcare. The next door neighbours look after their little grandson a lot, but he goes to school in Sept so apart from holidays they won't have him so much, but he is such a strange little lad, has been very indulged by them all as he was a late baby and the neighbours have fallen out with the other son with children, so this is the only one they have access to. He has had a wonderful time with his grandfather and step nan for these early years, they have taken him out and about but he is not very sociable and friendly as some children are. it took him a very long time to get round to even saying hello despite neighbour trying to encourage him. The only other child around the culdesac is just over 2 but seems to have some problems, all he does is scream, we never hear him speak and I think they keep him sort of hidden away in the garden. It's so sad as he was much wanted and they were trying ivf for a while then suddenly his Mum found she was pregnant naturally at 38! He was born with a hare lip and cleft palate so has had ops but I don't think there is a physical reason why he has no speech and I would love to see him out and about more but they stick to the garden.

Anyway hope you get some good weather again soon, so you can enjoy the garden and have little one outside while she visits. My autumn cyclamen are starting to appear so I can now see which ones are which and hopefully dig some out for you, Daff. When I had the woman round who sells plants for charity, I told her to dig herself some out of the tub and was beginning to wonder if she had taken all of one kind but seems not and they are making up again well so you might get some soon lol

better wash my cup and get to bed soon,
love

Morning everyone... now, here's a surprise, me on my pc at silly o'clock (apologies to Huia, I know it isn't silly o'clock where you are, lol)

Well..... Jethro has been into the bedroom... live one on the stairs.... I managed to catch it and turn it loose out in the garden... had to lock the catflap for a while, which has miffed the two older girls, lol... and Jethro was furious with me.. he has opened my drawers down here and was in the process of emptying the pens and stuff out, lol..... not sure whether to throttle him or laugh my head off, he is very clever, but oh so naughty!!

So here was me, wide awake now... so here I am! I shall go back to bed soon, but until I am sleepy again, you are all stuck with me.

Liz, that is such a shame, for both little ones... Princess Twinkletoes needs a little bit more in the way of entertaining, lol... she doesn't settle to anything for long, and likes an adults' attention one to one a great deal... I am constantly aware, as she starts one activity, that she is going to need something else fairly soon, but she loves being read to, so that is what we slot in between everything else to give us a break!... she is very like her uncle, my older son, was when he was the same age, and as soon as he was able to read for himself, our *help* was no longer required, thank you, lol... and Princess Dynamo, who is older son's child, is much like HER uncle was as a small child!! Although also very energetic, like her daddy was. It is really wonderful to watch their little personalities develop.

Huia, that is a huge problem...... and I know caring for your OH will take up as much strength and time as caring for a couple of toddlers. And you will tire more easily yourself, as well, especially as you are not getting a great deal of sleep yourself.

Sallie, I am Cardiff born and bred... but get lost there now, as well... I'll take a turn, thinking... this road will bring me out at such and such... only to be confronted by bollards or a new one way system at the bottom of the road, lol.... The City Centre is a fabulous shopping area, but massive... I get exhausted just thinking about it... and they are still building more! Enjoy your time with your visitors.

BC I do hope doggy is feeling perkier soon... and yes, I am really taking things quietly, honestly!

Hi Mau... do hope the gremlins weren't quick enough to catch you, lolol I know what it feels like... I had to switch off Kaspersky to download something, and felt very unsafe!! Sort of what it must feel like to go out shopping naked... not that I have done that, lol.... wouldn't want to kill off trade, lol

Right, am ready for bed again.... and it has just stopped raining! Forecast is a bit better for today.

Speak later

Love

Daff, I know you dont mean me when you refer to silly o'clock.

We came home early from the farewell lunch but I was tired so lay on the settee for a nap and then I didnt feel like driving into town to shop so decided to leave it for tomorrow morning, but now it looks as if it will be tomorrow afternoon as our firefighter is taking OH for a walk in the morning. At least I have some milk powder which I can make up for our cuppas and breakfast. I dont think we are desparate for anything else - as yet.
