Huia, hope you have managed to get back to bed and to sleep by now. otherwise what did you want to talk about then??

Taff, she sounds such a not nice person that you should be relieved not to have to spend time in her company.

Jac Report 28 Jul 2009 15:57

Huia - just thought I'd pop on and tell you that my little NZ tree is doing fine - growing slowly (cos it's in a large pot) but lovely new foliage appearing. I think of you every time I water it.

I shall be sad when it loses it's leaves but I'm going to put it in the greenhouse over the winter, to protect it.

Do you think it will be better there, or outside?

ps Hope Daff is behaving herself and keeping away from people with red noses (and I dont mean Rudolph) Everyone I've seen today looks red-eyed, red-nosed and seem to have drips!!!

MrDaff Report 28 Jul 2009 16:34

I am back... ~~~~~~~~~~ to all the girls, madames and laydees...... we kept clear of the crowds, and niece steered me well away from anyone with a dripping nose, lol.... One poor kid had the temerity to sneeze close to me... thought my niece was going to kill him... she had me use that gel stuff every time I touched a surface, lol...... talk about fanatical.

I bought two scrapbooks in WHSmith, they were on special offer, and returned a necklace that had broken the first time I wore it... bought another necklace and earrings... then got a new mascara, and nail polish... which gave me £15 worth of free goodies... Max Factor samples, basically, with a little make-up bag and beach bag... very nice!

I didn't see anything else I liked, really..... but did clock niece looking at the cameras..... she has her 21st coming up next month... she has borrowed mine, and likes it, so I shall get her one for her birthday, and graduation prezzie combined.

Taff... go and enjoy your day.... forget about your MiL........ treat yourself to something nice. She doesn't sound very nice at all. Oh, and R has a list a mile long... so he'll be free next millenium, lolol ;¬))

Mamiddau.... are your little angels getting on better... and intellectual beings on this thread *looks around* nah..... not here, lolol

Hi Huia... hope you got back to sleep ok.... how are you?

~~~~~ to Ann.... I was very careful, honestly! I had a lovely day out... but tired now.
BC, I am so pleased you have spat all those feathers out... so much easier to talk without them, lolol
Hi Maz...... what did you decide to do with your day after??? Hope you enjoyed it whatever you chose to do.
Jac... no Rudolph look alikes anywhere... but did you know it is less than five months to go til Christmas........... now where has the time gone? Did your grandchooks like their new spaghetti dish??
Right... must go and supervise R... he has been allowed free rein far too long already today!! ;¬))
Love
Glad you had a good day and that you kept away from the bugs, can't be too careful can you? Even I am a bit wary about going into crowded shops this week with our week 5 days in Exmouth coming up next week.
all this creative activity is making me nostalgic i had an aunt who was a nun and in her rest hours she kept snippets of things and made a scrapbook for me when she came to visit our house for her holiday .and although we looked after them they got damp etc well that is what they were for to give us pleasure they had stories and puzzles all sorts .i loved them
I painted my wall that my kitchen window looks out on to it makes the room brighter and a clean area to sit out in also painted the steps again and cleaned my windows downstairs .and sent my work off for marking again .
You are a wonder Daff, I get tired just reading of all your scooting about lol
how many scrapbooks do you have now,? I need to get some more so will go into WH and see if there are any in, although we never seem to get the same stuff as other towns , same with Range they seem to have stopped selling scrap books, they always had a great selection....
Ann, have you been to Exmouth before, we were having a look at it...
AnninGlos Report 28 Jul 2009 17:57
Exmouth, yes, we have friends who live there (their Golden wedding). First time we will have stayed in a hotel there though.
it is a pleasant seaside town, although we would not normally choose to go in August Lol!!!
Huia
Huia Report 28 Jul 2009 20:33
~~~all bleary eyed to everybody, probably had only 4 hours sleep at the most. I might manage another hour while our volunteer firefighter walks my OH.

Jac, I think your Kowhai should be all right where it is in the winter. They grow way down south, not quite at the s.pole but much colder than up here near the equator!

Daff, that is probably why your camellias flower later than ours, they dont like your cold winters. We rarely have snow up near Auckland. I must find out when they flower down south.

Maybe the intellectual thingy isnt such a good idea at night. I can go to bed dog tired and as soon as my head hits the pillow my brain is busy thinking about all sorts of things. At least the sleeping pills seem to make it behave, but I dont like taking them too often.

Better help OH get ready for his walk.

Huia.

MrDaff Report 28 Jul 2009 20:53

Jean, to be honest, we took it very easy today... I was more tired than I have been for a while.... I think that was why R threw me out, lol..... I did loads of stuff yesterday, well, more than I would have been able to do this time last year, anyway, and I was feeling it a bit... we just ambled around, really, I didn't want much, but had a necklace to return cos it broke the second time I went to wear it..... and niece has her birthday in a couple of weeks, so I wanted to get an idea of what to get for her. We had lunch and three coffee stops, lol! But we enjoyed it.

Ann, when do you go to Exmouth? I hope you have a lovely time..... and that the weather is kind to you.

Huia....... yes, I think it might be to do with the cold... we have to keep the buds from getting frost burn, which can happen if they get the early morning sun.... I just love them, though. I hope you manage to get an extra hour or so of beauty sleep!

Aw Maz... do you still have the scrapbooks? My gran had a memory quilt... it was made from all bits of material, and each piece had a memory attached to it... outfits she'd made for my dad and his siblings, her wedding outfit, bits of the materials from all the outfits she'd made for my aunties for their weddings, first day at work etc etc..... I don't know where it is now, but one of my sisters had it for a while... it was very very heavy, I recall, as I had it on my bed when I lived at home.

Mwah, Taff xxxxx

Well... a quick wave to everyone, and then I am off to bed for an early night again!

Good Morning Daff and all! I am on my second cup of strong coffee and am raring to go. BUT I just looked out window and it is grey and drizzling so I may take my time getting wellies on for the park. It is only two weeks to go for the wedding and I still havent got my fancy dress. Have changed my mind a hundred times! You should see me when I am given a Chinese Menu! lol

My hairdresser came yesterday and gave me a very nice, cheeky cut and told me off because of the Morticia colour but he has told me what to do...*winks..a few drops of peroxide in my shampoo...

Well I have dilly dallied long enough, so better go and do my duty. I hope the sun is shining where you are and you all have a great day.

Maz, how sad the scrap books were thrown away.

BC, careful you don't go orange, or purple!!!!

Pouring with rain here. Why aren't I jumping for joy that OH decided he didn't want to get wet so went round and scratched from his golf game? And now it is "what do you want to do then? shall we go into town?" (err, it is pouring with rain!!) "shall we go out for coffee" (err I have just had breakfast)... It is worse than entertaining the children in school holidays!!! Lol!!!

*holds out overflowing basket* do you think T would like to iron these for me? Pretty please!!

It is chucking it down here, too... we are going to slob out, I think!! Not sure, as R hasn't come too yet... he has only had one coffee, and we both slept late!! I am going to glue down a page of my scrapbook... I've made a couple of little tweaks, but I am basically happy with it!!

BC, rather you walking out in the rain... that's the problem with a dog... they look at you with those eyes, and come rain or shine, in sickness and in health... out you go with them... cats you just shove out through the cat flap!! I'm not good about making a choice... and so end up with the same old thing... and eyeing up the food on everyone elses plate!! You will need to get a move on, lolol... or you will have no choice but to go as Lady Godiva cos you'll have nowt to wear, lol!!

Maz, that is such a shame...... never mind.... you could start your own....

Jude, enjoy your coffee..... I love Cribbs Causeway, just wandering around gives me a boost. I get lost in Cardiff, but with CC you start one end, work your way around, go upstairs and do the same... then you are back at the carpark, where you started... easy peasy.

I have had to make a dental appointment.... not until next Monday... as a tooth split in half yesterday, on a chocolate raisin!!

So, that is the three things, isn't it.... plumbing biopsy, bone marrow biopsy, and a broken tooth... the dentist is the very very worst for me!! I do so panic........... I have a very good gag reflex... is that too much information??

Oh well...... everything comes in threes, lets get it all over and done with in one fell swoop.... ;¬))

Off to wander around the boards for five minutes!

Have a lovely day, everyone, even if the weather is miserable where you are.

Love

Not much to see on the boards at the mo Daff. I will just pop in and ask T about the ironing!! He says sorry he is flying at the moment so can't do it. (Playing with his flying simulator!) Still he did just make me a cup of coffee so there are some advantages of him being home. still pouring down here.
Please stop mentioning teeth, dentists etc, I am dreading going tomorrow!!!

BC given that although it is summer it is still a bit chilly, do get your brain in gear and find an outfit that means you will be covered!! goose pimples are so not pretty Lol!!!!

Just read the weather report in the local paper:

Citizen weather expert said: "It doesn't look good at all. Throughout the day we will have showers but between 3pm and 6pm there will be a cold front coming through.

The rain will be really heavy and gusts of wind up to 50 mph making really unpleasant driving conditions.

“As a result there could be a lot of rain and the usual places will see some surface water.”

sounds delightful!!

The county is expected to get between 15 and 30mm of rain today, which could cause problems later in the week.

Afternoon each and everyone!

Rotten weather aint it? just driven back from friend's house and the A52 is under about 2inches of water - and still the stupid boy-racers in BWM's and such like feel the need to drive at break-neck speeds!!! DOH - I wonder at some of them!

It's a bit chilly here and I'm tempted to put on the heating, or maybe just a pair of socks? We were having salad for dinner, but will re-think the menu and probably do a Stew or something!!

I guess I could do some ho....hous....hhh (I'm sorry I cant say the word) but I wont! It will want doing again tomorrow!

Happy Wednesday afternoon to you all - fingers crossed I'm the winner of the Lottery tonight, cos it's the first ticket I have bought for yonks!
