Morning all..... what a beautiful day again today... R is still snoring!!

It was son No 1's birthday yesterday, he was 37. So, as we are a bit skint this month, and we bought him an all singing and dancing games PC just before Christmas..... he wasn't going to have a prezzie. BUT....... then I discovered that he could meet up with a whole crowd of his mates from years back, when he used to do role play stuff... I thought it was next week, when he goes up to collect Littlie, which was why he couldn't go. To have two nights absolutely uninterrupted sleep sounded like too good an opportunity to miss... sooooooo I raided the Brandy Bottle, and sent him off to A**a with a bag full of coins... and he came back with enough proper money to go... I then filled a cool box full of goodies from the fridge and freezer... and off he went last night, after his phone call from madam, and we won't see him now until about 7pm tomorrow. Bliss!

So.... did we have a full nights sleep? Er.... no!! Next door (the nice next door) had either gone out, or had got so drunk they didn't notice, and their dog still had his outside access... guess what? He barked furiously at everything... and when the dawn chorus arrived at 4.15, he went absolutely mental!! He is normally a very good dog, too, apart from a tiny bit of howling which sounds so sad, about 20 minutes after he has realised they have gone to work/out/whatever, and that stops within about 5 minutes, never at night.

At first I was worried in case something had happened, it is so unusual. But at 4.50, it suddenly stopped... and I have now just got up, having only woken once, and briefly, since then.

He is out there now, wanting to play, with groans coming from one or the other of the neighbours, lolol.....they normally go off on a Saturday for a nice long run with him.... yes, well, lolol

BC you have been busy, puts me to shame... we are going out into the garden today, and not doing much at all other than that. Good luck at your debut today, and just have a wonderful time.

Maz, I should think so too... R will mow the grass today, while I prick out the second tub of carrots, and the marigolds. Son made a start on the memory garden, but it still needs another turn over, and then I shall plant the last of the courgettes and cucumber in there, it gets good sunlight. The tubs with the peppers are going there as well... BC it is where the lovely jasmine is, if I could smell, I would be having great wafts of it now, with all the doors and windows wide open. R says it is lovely.

~~~~~~ to Mau...... hope you are still improving
~~~~~~ to Mummo and Ann for when they pop their heads in next.

Right... off to make a start.... R is now up... not awake, but up, lol.... by his third coffee he'll be ready to start

Love

Yet another hot day today, we walked down to the market via a coffee stop and I actually tracked down a couple of English books among all the German ones. Then we walked down to the beach for lunch at a cafe overlooking the beach. We each had a tosted sandwich and chose the special and it was huge. Bacon, egg, tomato, ham cheese pinneapple lettuce and onion!!! all for 4eu 10.

Walked abck into the main square in the town for coffee and then through the shops and caught a taxi back as it was too hot to climb 200 steps. Now going back out to sit and read in the sun, well under the umbrella. Had to buy a new wireless mouse as mine packed up and it took T half an hour to get it to go, but it is fine now, thought we were going to have to ake it back, not easy when the salesman doesn't speak English.

Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight Daff.

JustGinnie Report 22 May 2010 16:57

Daff I fully understand what it is like to have a sleepless night as we were going to bed last night we heard some shouting but didn't take a lot of notice as we live on a main bus route but we had been upstairs for about 15 mins and our young neighbours decided to take there row on to the streets so they stand there screaming at each other with all the swear words included for the world to hear then they went in to come out 10 mins later and start again . Finally finished about 1.30am but by tthen I was restless and had a really disturbed night. But I will get my own back I shall play some classical Russel Watson really loud when they are having a lie in tomorrow and to be really nasty I may sing as well lolol.

So glad to read you are having a lovely holiday Ann.

BC I hope the singing goes well,it's a lovely day for singing.

~~~~~~~~~to all who look in and have a nice weekend.
MrDaff Report 23 May 2010 09:11
Morning all... looks set to be a beautiful morning again.
Mummo.... you floozy, you! lolol.... seriously, it's lovely, isn't it? R used to go away for months and months at a time, and I used to love that first morning, after he got back, waking up with him next to me..... but................. I have to admit to rather liking the space the double bed gave me when I was on my own, lol... we have a super king sized now, for that reason.
BC.... so pleased you had a good time... and how strange that you sang a duet with a bag lady... don't tell Empress, cos she'll be thinking you will have picked up bad habits from her, lolol..... what did you duet? The man with the dodgy sporran sounds, er, interesting, lololol
Ginnie, you go girl, lolol!! Go on, switch it on now!! These lads are usually very considerate, in all fairness... if they have a party, which is quite often in the summer, they make sure that everyone is inside, or quiet when they are outside, and the music turned down low. And they never have parties in the week, as one has to be up at 5am himself. Next door but one, however............grr!
I had an apology from one of the lads, yesterday... he saw us in the garden, we waved, he came across, and it was as I had thought.... they had been out, got very drunk, came back and let dog out...... then fallen into a coma, lol..... they both looked very sorry for themselves still, when they took him out for his long walk, at teatime!
Ann, I slept like a log last night... went to bed at 9.30, did a couple of word puzzles, and out until 7,30 this morning... Pol, then Hermie, then Jethro all on the bed insisting that they were the most deprived cats in the universe, and that we were deliberately starving them to death.... so here I am. I have a load of washing on, the dishwasher is chuntering away to itself, and all 5 cats have full tummies..... I am about to do some sandwiches for myself.... sad I know, but I like ham salad sandwiches for breakfast... well, salad anything sarnies, really.... Glad T got the mouse sorted out.... imagine your notebook sitting there, looking accusingly at you, and you not being able to use it!! Unbearable... that would be worse than not having your notebook at all!!
~~~~~~~~~ to Maz... I do hope you are still chilling out???

We are going to relax in the garden all day today... I have a joint of pork, but I might just cook that off and have it cold with a salad and jacket potatoes... my first earlies have bud just coming into flower on them, so we will be able to have homegrown new potatoes soon... plus the spinach is doing well, too.

Have a wonderful day, everyone

Love

MrDaff Report 23 May 2010 10:31

Mau, we do have one neighbour who is very unpleasant, but the two directly next to us are lovely... they bought me a huge Christmas bouquet when they heard I was ill, and we always knew that if there was an emergency, we could knock on their door.. we are a small close, and we all jog along fairly well, lol... not that I even know half their names, but they wave and pass the time of day.

I have never *not got on* with a neighbour, until we moved here... that's not to say it was all sugar and roses, lol... we had two sons, and there was the odd disagreement over behaviour etc, but nothing damaging or long term. I suppose we have been very lucky over the years.

BC, I am sure it is hot and steamy in London... blame it on the fella with the sporran, lolol ;¬))

When are you off to see the little ones, BC? Is it next week? I have my Littlie coming a week tomorrow... but this time, she is being collected from Leicesteshire, where she is spending the weekend with mummy and two of her Godparents... so it isn't such a long haul. She then goes back the day before her 4th birthday..... they have a nice party and a cake at nursery, so she doesn't want to miss that!

We'll have a birthday picnic as well, which she will love. I am hoping the weather is ok while she is here, so that she can go out and about, now that son has a bit of money in his pocket. I am really looking forward to her visit... it has been a bigger gap, this time.

JustGinnie

JustGinnie Report 23 May 2010 13:11

We also had an apology from our neighbour which we accepted graciously lol ,we actually get on quite well as they are a very nice family and it was an unusual occurrence heat and booze to blame I think.
Our neighbour on the other side is as quiet as a mouse wouldn't know he was there apart from his car on the drive.

Very hot today so am doing nothing much , so hope everyone is enjoying the good weather also.

MrDaff Report 23 May 2010 16:42

Lol Ann... yes, he is a nasty person. Hopefully they will sell quickly... he is still doing things to imply to potential viewers that a swathe of garden from our driveway to his is theirs, lol..... he mowed it on a very very low setting while we were out. Caught him scurrying to put the stuff away when we got back from clinic. We didn't say a word, but R just stood there, and I went in and got my camera.

I then made a point of going out and taking photographs of the bits where the top of the soil is exposed now, and all their gear on their driveway and overspilling on the lawn... never said a word. R just said to him quietly after I had taken the photos... don't do that again, and then turned his back and walked away. I did make sure that their faces weren't in the photos, just in case.... not sure of the law regarding it... but their feet and legs were in it!!

Grrrr!!!

Ginnie I am so pleased you had an apology, too.... it makes a huge difference, doesn't it.

R has just hurt his back rather badly I think... he is now lying down on the bed... the memory foam mattress will help, and I have shoved a couple of Paramol down his neck... I'll sort out the Ibuprufen later.

He couldn't get up from the driveway. He had been trying to undo a nut on the tyre of his car, it is just on the legal limit, so needs changing... decided to do it himself, and bingo!! It has been tightened with a machine thingy... so was almost impossible to undo, but still he tried. He went absolutely grey with pain, and I had to go and fetch a chair for him to use as a support to help him stand.... thank goodness for my manual handling training!!

I have a feeling he won't be going to work tomorrow... I have just given him a cold compress (wet teatowel chucked in the freezer for 10 minutes and then draped across his back... and will take up a warm one in a minute.

Why he couldn't have taken it to Kwik fit on his way to work, I don't know... they take about 20 minutes, that's all! Men!!

Well... better go and put my nurses hat on, lolol!!

Love

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 24 May 2010 09:33

Morning Maz, hope you have a good day.

Well, R has phoned in sick, which is just not like him at all, I have kept him dosed up with painkillers.... paramol, then a couple of hours later, ibuprufen. He says the ibuprufen works better than the paramol, but by combining/alternating the two, we are more or less stopping any breakthrough pain... except for first thing this morning, of course, when he got out of bed thinking he was fine, just a twinge... he can walk a bit, lie down, but he is unable to sit for long without pain. He is not at all like me, though, he doesn't whinge about pain or feeling rough... he just gets on and deals with it. But there is no way he would be able to drive the hou's drive into work, and then sit all day at his station/pc, then drive back home as well.

He did say (this is back to me, me, me, now, lol) that he would be much worse if he couldn't take ibuprufen... and of course, I can't, so NSAIDS are out for me.... otherwise my pain would be fairly easily controlled. That is why I have to have the steroids every so often, when it gets bad. So he was very sympathetic now that he has experienced it for himself, lol.... nasty person, aren't I?

It looks like a stunning day ahead today.... I have a little bit of shopping to do, and then into the garden for a couple of hours... I want to sow some more salad stuff, as some of it looks to be about to bolt. The Japanese sald stuff has been superb... I have let some of it flower, for the seed. It will grow all year around in a coldframe or on a windowsill, so that is what I shall do, and I shall have fresh green salad all year around.

Right, have a lovely day today, everyone... it is looking good for another hot and sunny day here... I have already flung the windows wide open here, so that it will feel more like a terrace than a conservatory later... and every bit of breeze counts. I am also going to get a small patio umbrella for in here, as the mid-day sun shines straight onto my screen...... when I can afford it I shall have blinds put in the spot that is the worst, just one smalll area, but meanwhile, an umbrella will do the trick nicely!!

Love
