Well.... what a beautiful day today!!

Max, (sorry, typo.... Maz, of course!!) I do hope the sun is with you.... I can just imagine the chaos.... I do hope Gizmo is behaving himself, lol. It will be a wonderful day, now chill, relax.... and enjoy.

*frets* do hope you have tear proof mascara!!

Now.... Firemen.

Are you sitting comfortably?

Then I shall begin.

Yesterday, it was the end of a hectic week, and I was knac.... erm, I mean exhausted. I was playing on the boards, and getting just a little mardy with one or two folk who were saying not very nice things about someone unable to defent themselves... and I knew my equilibrium was about to desert me.... so I took myself off to my bedroom to sulk, have a read, and fall asleep for an hour if I could.

Closing the curtains, I noticed smoke in the copse just at the back of us.... lots of smoke, but no flames.

Called R, and he went to have a look over the fence to see what it was all about... the smoke was billowing by now, still no flames.

R phoned the plocal bobby... it looked like kids had been messing around and then scarpered, although we hadn't heard any.

Anyway, police said we have to diall 999 and call the fire brigade, which we did... R explained what it was all about, and by this time, the smoke was everywhere... but still couldn't see any flames.

So... the fire brigade had to come.... and they couldn't get down the lane beside us as the farmer has gated and padlocked it to stop the kids on their quad bikes and stolen cars from zooming up and down (although the main offenders of that died in a joy riding incident a few years ago... killing two innocent people at the same time)

Anyway..... they used bolt cutters it would seem, and there they were, all hunky and handsome, in the copse at the side of us.

The fire was duly put out... it was spreading through the undergrowth. They are a bit concerned that local kids will be starting more fires this summer... and have asked us to keep an eye open... so hey ho, permission from a hunky fireman to be a curtain twitcher..... lol

They were very very nice, lolol ;¬))

Love

Good day Daff :O) glad the fire wasn't too serious and quickly under control. I have a fear of fires and the smell of burning wood.
When we came home Thursday on the M11 we saw huge clouds of black smoke, and as we passed we could see on the opposite side a lorry ablaze, loads of fire engines racing about.There was a very long tailback of traffic. Later, on the news we learnt it was a lorry containing 17 tonnes of magazines,not read/heard any more but hope nobody was killed or injured.

AnninGlos Report 15 May 2010 17:05

Glad it wasn't more serious then Daff, and maybe the farmer should no longer bolt the gate, although I realise he has a point. Anyway, you can now curtain twitch all you like.

Cloudy here todat but we walked miles to the market which was a very good one more like an mini antique/flea fair, we then waked back into town, the market was the other side of puerto and had an all you can eat chinese buffet,then walked back up the 200 steps and had a coffee before finishing the walk up to the apartment. Phew. Off to sit on the patio and read, although cloudy it is not cold.

Evening all:)) Just recovering from a teensy hangover...boozin pal had to stay the night again.....she doesnt remember singing My Heiland Granny at all at all. lol. The funny thing was there was an eerie silence last night from noisy neighbours so maybe I should record her and play it constantly!

Hope the day went well for you all.

Hope the hangover is better BC. Just been to the local pizzeria for a huge shared mixed special salad, garlic bread and tomato bread and vino. Cloudy again this morning but sun is out now.

MrDaff Report 16 May 2010 14:19

Afternoon all, I am really late today... couldn't sleep last night, didn't drop off until about 9 this morning so still tired, lol....

BC..... I do hope it was worth the pain! And if it kept your neighbour quiet (entranced at the quality of your renditions, I am sure) it was well worth it ;¬))

Ann, I am so pleased the weather is picking up for you, in general. I remember last year it was pretty cold as well.... I know you still enjoy it, but it is so much better when the weather is good, isn't it?

I read elsewhere that Maz had a wonderful day yesterday, and all went beautifully... I think she is enjoying the peace and quiet and a well earned rest!

Mau, I'm like that with fire as well....

Talking of which, we had another last night, and this time it was bigger, and closer to us. We heard nothing, so don't think it is kids fooling around, but someone is deliberately starting them. That is a little bit spooky... but we did have some very nice firemen in our garden again, lolol... Jethro helped them.... and tried to get into the tender. He is very naughty, I had to lock him in the conservatory in the end. He still isn't speaking to me, lolol

We are spending what is left of the day in the garden... R has just gone out to get some more bags of compost, and then we shall be sorted.

Have a lovely day, everyone,

Love

morning all the wedding was lovely the weather was mixed .but mainly dry there was a cold wind so the bridesmaids were all cold at The castle while the photos were being taken .it was walworth castle in County Durham lovely area and views .the meal was lovely .
the only hitch was naomis petticoat came down and a bridesmaid flower girl was not happy with her dress lol but she was bribed well .I was shattered yesterday i posted here but must have forgotten the details lol .The flowers were lovely .mainly gerberas in the posies the colours were pinks and purples ,I am now in the process of washing and clearing up finding lost property etc
felines were well behaved gizmo was wanting to be in so we shut him in the kitchen .Tramp stayed put on His chair the flower girls wer treating him like a teddybear but he would not disappear so it was his fault .yesterday they both slept a lot of the time as i did
my son was the only usher and did brilliantly he was running around all day very proud of him i was

Morning Maz and thanks for giving us the lowdown on the wedding. It sounds like a lovely day was had by all and a falling petticoat is a sign of great luck (old Irish saying), so that's ok!! You will need a bit of a rest now, and glad Gizmo behaved himself.

Beautiful morning here, the sun is shining at the moment.. Hope you all have a lovely day and I wonder how Mummo is getting on with her new flat. I expect it is being decorated right now.

Morning all,
DECORATING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
where do l begin..............Sitting room is now finished, papered one wall and magnolia on others, looks good., now to put the curtains, lights and pictures up.
Bedroom has now been painted again in magnolia as my curtains, wardrobes, dressing table and chest of drawers are all in a cream colour so quite like it painted in that colour.
Carpets go down in the sitting room and bedroom tomorrow so those two rooms will be finished.
Now the problems begin...........Kitchen has hardly any cupboard space , so where am l meant to put everything :((((
Bathroom..........toilet is arrrrrrr, sorry but l have to replace it, shower is like those wet room ones but really could do with a screen round it, but think that will have to come later as money is going down fast , lol.
Hallway will be the last to get done as all rooms lead off it.
Man is coming to measure up for the blinds tomorrow, thank goodness only need 3 this time as my kitchen window here will fit the bathroom one in the flat.
Maz glad the wedding went ok.
BC, l know who to call on if l have noisey neighbours, lol.
Daff hope today will be good for you.
Ann, sounds like your having a relaxing time ( wish l was) lol.
~~~~~~~~ to everyone else. x
I have just written loads again... and now lost it forever... you used to be able to type something in the reply box, and then go look at something else (I just googled Walworth Castle so that I could comment on it... absolutely beautiful venue and setting, Maz) and then when I clicked on the back arrow to where I had been on GR..... there was my lovely words, all gone, vanished!!
So... lets get them re-done, lol!!
It is beautiful here... already my little thingy tells me it is 12 deg so I hope it is going to get warmer. I would like to put the coriander and the basil out in with the strawberries... I have a tiered container for them, and places to fill in it. Also, the rest of the peppers need to go into the pots I have ready.... they'll go nicely on the decking... and I have 2 more hanging baskets of tumbling toms to do, and that is my lot of toms for now... the beef toms are not quite ready, well, this is the 2nd sowing... the first lot are in a growbag doing well. They are late tomatoes, August September croppers.
Maz, the wedding sounds as though it went wonderfully well.... and what a beautiful place, I googled it, as I said. Exhausted you must be, but quietly pleased all went so well.
Mummo, gosh, you have got on well with it... another 2 weeks and you'll have it ship shape and Bristol fashion.... and can then look forward to just chilling out for a while. It is such hard work, though, isn't it? (((((hugs))))
~~~~~~ to BC.... your headache gone this morning?? ((((hugs)))) for you, too.

Morning Mau ~~~~~~

Morning Ann..... you off anywhere nice today, or just chilling out on the patio???? *sighs* sounds lovely!

Well... must go and start playing in the muck again... big kid at heart, I am, lolol!

Have a wonderful day, everyone

AnninGlos Report 17 May 2010 10:16

Good morning, guess what.... no sun!! So what is new, the only difference is that I am still in T shirt and light trousers. Few spots of rain and we have washing in the machine, which is why we have not gone out yet. OH has just done his housework ... i.e. cleaned the floor and brushed the patio.

Maz, the wedding sounds as if it was wonderful, so pleased for you all. And glad the cats were OK.

BC, hope noisy neighbour behaved last night, is this a new neighbour? Don't remember you mentioning it before.

Mummo, sounds as if the main rooms of the flat will look lovely when finished, magnolia is a good background to have, if you want to add colour with cushions, throws etc you can. Is there any way you can add any cupboards to the kitchen? Maybe free standing ones? Or is there any wall space where you could have shelves? What about in the sitting room, is there room for a sideboard type piece of furniture to keep your crockery. It sounds as if you have a challenge on your hands. Is the loo a white one so can be replaced easily? Don't forget you are able to ask for help, not sure that you should have to replace the loo yourself if you are renting, is it Housing Association? Ask them re a replacement. Anyway, sounds as if you are getting there, what does Eddie think of the flat?

When do you hope to move in?
