a damp start to the day here, got to do a T**** run I'm afraid ----- got to eat!!!!

MrDaff Report 15 Dec 2009 10:04

Wmsl at Maz, omgoodness, a Joseph who doesn't like Mary, I sooooo remember... although there was the added problem with Archangel Gabriel as well, lolol and trying to make Baby Jesus' head stay on, lol.... what fun those days were! Good luck, everything is crossed!

Ann, I told you a fib yesterday... my old Olympus was, it seems, and SLR... R is in high dudgeon cos he spent a small fortune on it (most unusual if I haven't had a finger in the pie, so to speak... and that camera was a total and lovely surprise, lol) it was one of the first of it's kind, too... now I know how much he spent on it all those years ago, I will have it fixed, lolol It did take some cracking photos, though... it was one of the first automatic lens/zoom/macro adjusty ones, an Olympus iS 1000 with integrated system and intelligent zoom and flash. Just read it off the camera, lol It is a very comfortable one to hold... that is one of my criteria, lol... the canon is comfy, too. Very technical, that, isn't it? lol

Well, I am going to vacuum up all the glitter, then make a start on moving around the conservatory furniture, put the 2nd tree up, and the garlands and suchlike... all furniture has little felt thingys on it, so no effort required to move it, lol... B will put all the empty boxes away in the loft, later, and I will then have a decorated home, lolol!! Yeh!!

Belly chops, with roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli and cauli, with sage and onion stuffing and gravy for dinner tonight... so no great effort required... I have sorted the veg out, so all is ready to just be turned on....

See you all later!!

Love

Daff, reporting from the depths of a pile of glitter, garlands and baubles, lolol xxxxxxx

AnninGlos Report 15 Dec 2009 10:22

On my way for dinner tonight. Our depends on what Mr T**** has that looks inviting!

Ah, that is a good Olympus. I have to hold a camera before I buy, it must feel right and not be too heavy. I used to have a huge zoom lense for one of my film SLRs (they were all Minoltas) but I was never comfortable with it on as it made the camera so heavy. I think that is why I like the Lumix which is not an SLR but does almost as much. I am lazy with the SLR though these days and leave it on programme, saves me thinking about speed/apertures etc.

Afternoon Daff and all from a chilly London. But I quite like this kind of weather, throw on loads of clothes and wrappings and it is quite bracing! I DO miss my park walks though and hope they can continue some time in the New Year.

I am so in sympathy with that boy who doesn't like Mary and hats! I know just how he feels!! Well not about Marys but for sure the hats. My mother and I used to argue every Sunday when everyone wore hats going to Mass and scarves were considered very 'common'...lol....guess who insisted on wearing a scarf! I thought they were very glamorous as I was in love with Father Gallagher at the time:-)

Hope you take some lovely photos, Daff and that Ann found something exotic and delicious at T****s.

If Jean looks in, I didn't find anything in my emails?

Am off to catch up with the boards.

Morning Jean and Maz. First of all I am delighted Joseph turned up after all, Maz, hat free but there!! lol ... and thanks for the thought Jean, as you say somebody will enjoy that e card.

Because of all the cherry chocolates I ate yesterday I am on water for the day...hot water, warm water, and an occasional cold water....I really pigged out.!! lol

Dog is still confined to barracks but is very perky now thank goodness. She even growled at a giant Red Setter at the vets yesterday...always a good sign:-)

I have loads to do today to catch up on stuff I have left to last minute. Also have to dye...er...shampoo my hair. Dont want my eagle eyed grandchildren spotting the white roots on Grandma's hair and pointing it out loudly to all. lol...

Hope you all have a really good day, wrap up warm.

Good morning all. Another damp start to the day here. OH gone to golf, I have dentist at 12.20 then we are out tonight at the seniors golf club 'do'. Getting very lazy about these things would just as soon not be going!!!

Maz, pleased to hear the performance went without a hitch - well maybe that day Joseph didn't wear his tea towel!!!

I knew you would suffer for your gluttony BC but you wouldn't listen!!! Lol, can't say I am keen on cherry chocolates though, too sweet for me.

Pleased dog is getting more perky, she will be more difficult to keep confined though now, like children they always play up when getting better.

Anyway, better have some breakfast. back later.

MrDaff Report 16 Dec 2009 10:04

Maz, I am so pleased that the lure of stardom changed Joseph's mind, lolol..... even though he didn't want to wear a tea towel on his head, lolol..... it sounds as though you had an excellent turnout, as well!

Jean, I had a quick practice with the camera last night... I have taken 42 photos of the Christmas tree, lol.... and two of Hermie... oh and two with the lens cover still on, doh!! I trawled through the dial thingy and took some with all the different modes and settings, in order..... I rather liked the twinkling lights one on the sports mode, lol.... I am sure that once I have learned where all the buttons and knobs, dials and switches are, I shall be well on my way to David Baileyism, lol I now have to learn how to get them onto my pc........ I need to use a disc first, but I'll do that later, I want to finish the other tree off first....... I haven't finished decorating that, as we ran out of lights........ son went over and got me four more sets, but they are small.... oh for the days of 25 but whopping great lights, which really showed up!!

Wmsl at BC.... that is the problem with pure pleasure, isn't it? There always seems to be a bit of *payback* pain to back it up! Pleased to hear that your doggie is feeling more the thing... goodness, growling at a red setter!! ;¬)) Thank you for your card, by the way xxxxx

Ann, you will have a lovely time tonight.... what are you wearing? You bought a couple of new tops, and wraps, didn't you?? Get T to take a photo, and post it onto FB..... I shall post my Christmas trees when they are finished, and on my pc (the living room one still doesn't have a star, as Asda and B&Q didn't have them!!)

Good luck at the dentist, too.... maybe you ought to move in with them? You have spent enough time there to qualify for permanent residency, and enough money no doubt, to have bought them out twice over, lolol.... I do hope this visit sorts it all out for you xxxxxx

Right, off to move books around the house, now.... painting those units meant that we now have bookcases downstairs... some we have been keeping upstairs, and others in boxes in the garage, B brought the latter in, and I have been bringing down half a dozen every time I go upstairs.... the shelves are filling up! The bookcases upstairs can now be re-filled with all B's books, which are lounging desultorily (sp)in the bottom of his wardrobe, or in higgledy piggledy piles against the wall, gathering dust and piles of dirty washing!!

Dinner was very nice last night.... son finished it all off, and tonight we are having chilli... it is in the freezer, so I don't need to mess around too much! Ham and lentil soup for lunch... that is in the freezer, too!!

Right, I am off to play at being a furniture removal person xxx Have a wonderful day, everyone xxxx

Daff I am wearing a lilac velvety top with a matching camisole under (Per Una) with black velvet trousers, (was going to wear a skirt but it is a fairly informal do), with those I have a black velvety wrap jacket and I will wear silver flatties.

Lol books, T wont build me any more shelves because as he builds them I fill them with books. He can't see that is what they are for!!! He never ever reads unless it is computer or photo magazines. So absolutely all the books in the house are mine!! And there are a few!

Well that is a lot of photos of the tree Lol!!! My trouble with the SLR is I am always in a hurry to take a photo, I do know all the facts about depth of field and the rule of thirds etc(in fact when doing my lecture training at RAF Newton I gave a lecture on it) but because I am in a hurry I usually go on auto or programme and just shoot. Have to say though I rarely have a failure.

AnninGlos Report 16 Dec 2009 13:36

Quiet on here again, daff must be busy. Well the dentist was very thorough as she usually is. She dug in between and under the tooth and fished out something she thought may have caused the bleeding, then she took an x ray and said I have a very poorly tooth with a large cavity underneath, a potential abscess site and the tooth will need to 'come out'. Unfortunately Libby leaves next week so it will be the new dentist doing it. She also gave me some Amoxyllin antibiotic. Nowhere can I see if I have to avoid alcohol with it and I know some antibiotics are ok with a small amount of alcohol. I want to know for sure though as I wont start it until tomorrow if I can't drink as we are out tonight.

Paper bloomers.... nope, not going to say a word, lolol!! You'll just have to wear half a dozen pairs at a time, BC... in fact, wear all your clothes, and you won't need a suitcase, lolol.... room for another bamboo tree, then ;¬))

Ann, I hope you are having a wonderful time....

Night night everyone

Morning all..... ~~~~~~~ to Mummo..... you'll look lovely... Eddie won't recognise you! lol

Maz, my cupboards are groaning.... but it still feels there isn't enough there, lol...... mind you, we have eaten the cheese biscuits, with the Stilton and Somerset Brie that son bought for last Sunday..... and I poured all the nuts into a container, and son and I have slowly ploughed our way through them, lol..... and well, it would be silly not to habe the pickles to go with the cheese, now wouldn't it?

*sigh* big shop coming up again... now, Sain****'s or T**** which shall it be? I know where I would go if Jamie came to cook for me... I love his no nonsense style of food with a bit of originality.... lovely grub!!

*leaves paracetamol and a glass of milk on the thread ready for Ann* Just in case she needs them, you understand!!

I am having a lazy day today.... I might even go back to bed for a bit, except the sun is shining and it would be such a shame to miss it. Even more decisions!

Right..... washing has just finished.... lets shove it in the tumble dryer and go fetch the second load.... I don't know where it all comes from!!

AnninGlos Report 17 Dec 2009 14:58

No thanks Daff, no need fore paracetamol. Had a lovely evening, but didn't drink a lot, a glass of Cava on arrival and a large (250l) glass of red with the meal that was all. Had nice people on our table, one couple I used to work with the wife and her husband was an RAF Officer, and we knew or vaguely knew the others. Meal was reasonable considering they were catering for 120 people. Prawn cocktail, Turkey (T) vegetable lasagne (me) although that was actually cauliflower lasagne which was a bit strange and more like cauliflower cheese Lol! Still fairly tasty. Veg was sprouts, carrots, peas, red cabbage. Then I had Christmas pud and T had cheese and biscuits so I had his stilton. crackers on the table and the entertainment was a duo playing 60s music, it is only a small dance floor and it was very crowded so most of the time we were happy to sit and talk and listen. Got home about 11,30.

BC I hope you have booked 2 seats if you are going to be wearing all those clothes -- michilin (sp) woman!!

Mummo, pleased that you now have company and hope you feel better for having your hair done
