I find films to do with animals the most didtressing. Black Beauty always has me in tears everytime I watch it. But Shindlers List is the saddest film I have ever seen and it haunts me for a week afterwards. Jo.

Lou, that would be 'A cry in the dark' The movie was based on a true story. Deb (who surprisingly knows a lot of movies, considering that she claims not to watch many)

Just remembered another one from way back - Old Yeller. Poor dog and lovely Tommy Kirk - my childhood movie hero. Before anyone gets the impression that I'm hard-hearted and uncaring, I should add that, although I found Schindler's List and Sophie's Choice very moving, due to my lifelong connections with Jewish people, the content of those films didn't shock me, as it wasn't news. I already knew about the horrors depicted in those films. CB >|<

I once watched an animated movie called All Dogs go to Heaven and I cried my eyes out for ages, I had just a had a baby at the time so I think my hormones were making me feel a bit too sensitive! although it was sad when the dog died. Marie

oooh Deb - good thread. Most of the films mentioned set me off - and Greyfriars Bobby and one called 'The Day they gave Babies away' sometimes shown as 'All mine to give' - from IMDB This is a story based on fact that follows a husband and wife who emigrate from Scotland to Wisconsin in the 1850's. They work very hard and become welcome citizens of their new town, Eureka. They have six children. They prosper in the husband's boat building business. But when their eldest is 12, tragedy strikes the family, and the 12-year old is burdened with a terrible task which he handles as well as any adult could OOOh and one that someone mentioned on a thread ages ago - 'Imitation of Life' - which was on Sat TV the other morning.

Half the movies listed I've not even heard of let alone seen but I'm with Laurie on this one. I cry very easily which is why I'm more inclined to watch something that makes me laugh. If I'm gonna cry I'd much rather cry with laughter. Vivienne
