Good to see you are ok Gill we do worry if you don’t just pop in and say hello. Sorry about your Mum hopefully she will be fine with another stent. Yes and sorry Sandra picked up Covid, as Mel said that was inevitable. I hope she has stayed in until testing negative. I am assuming, or hoping she has it fairly mildly.

Sunny and dry here this morning, looks a bit chilly though but thankfully the wind has dropped.

Afternoon All,

I woke a few times in the night but was straight back to sleep again so feel quite refreshed today. The sun is shining and the wind has gone so it all helps you feel better. :-)

Hope you don't miss the library Mel. Do they stop in a particu;ar place for you to go to?

Sorry Sandra has tested positive for Covid Gill, but it was kind of inevitable with all her mixing since she moved out. Hopefully it will be mild but will have taught her to be more careful. I suppose the 2nd test will be to make sure the first wasn't a false positive. It's all very worrying for you and I hope SS are seeing she has enough food etc in the flat till they find her somewhere else. I think it is poor your sister not letting you know your mum had gone into hospital, but it happened to me when my sister's ex husband didn't tell my sister or me or even his 2 grown up children, one of whom was living with him at the time. that my mum was in hospital. If your mum needs another stent she should be fine and I know of someone with 4 stents. Try not to worry about things you can't change and look after yourself and just keep in touch when you are able so we know you are alright. Our internet has been a bit tricky and going off at times lately.

AnnG I think OH has some stronger supermarket glasses than mine from when he had his cataracts done a few years ago, as between each eye being done he needed to be still be able to read and write his notes. I have my next eye test booked now but I think it could help with my painting in the meantime.

My new slicer thing (mandoline?) is unpacked now so I might try it later. I have warned OH that the blades are lethal and to only clean it by swishing in a jug of soapy, boiling water and rinsing or he could lose his fingers!! I have also unpacked a tiny , silent travel alarm clock I sent for since OH said the clock in the study wasn't working and the alarm on the bedroom one is unreliable. Of course, after I sent for it, I had a fiddle with the one in the study and it is working fine again now! I shall still keep this one as it is nice and small (only 2 inches square) to fit in my case to take away and I can use it when I need to be sure I have a reliable alarm for appointments!

Getting on with my painting now, even though I should try and do something in the garden. OH is working away and has nearly got up to date with his work again.

Frank Report 25 Feb 2021 14:11

Afternoon all, Just checking in, I don't want you wondering where I am.

Was going to get the scooter out this morning, BUT.someone turned up to put a safety handrail down the steps to the lawn. He's still here, just finishing off. He noticed that the patio is a bit of a hazard with it being a bit high in places, and told me to contact my care worker, to see if they can get it taken up and relayed. It's something his firm would be able to do.

It's started to cool down outside, so I won't begging out on my scooter YET AGAIN. The mornings seem to be the best time to go out. So will perhaps try tomorrow.

I have had my 4 wheel walker delivered today. It has brakes, a seat and a shopping bag, if I need it. The seat is fitted with a non slip BRAKE, so I can sit on it without it moving.

Ros is still tidying the flower beds out the front, and putting a few plants in, that she bought on Tuesday.

I had another IFFY night last night with my back. It woke me up overtime I turned over. I am most comfortable sitting up.So might try to get forty winks in the armchair this afternoon.

I hope you are all well and I send my love and best wishes. xxxx

Good we have heard from Gill and our Frank today. Sending love to both.

I have been in the garden this morning. Potted up 7 cowslip seedlings taken from my one plant I had last year. They have been in the shed all winter but were a bit to crowded in the pot so they are now done. Oh has done my pond witht he new plastiuc wire and at the moment he is pressure washing something. I have to go and cut down my two Clematis and clear the patio so he can put the new wire round that to keep the pheasents off and I can then put a new string of seed lights on it as the one thats been on there for about four years has at last given up the ghost.

Glad we’ve heard from you Gill. Fancy your sister not telling you your Mum was in hospital. I hope she recovers quickly. Another stent will make all the difference to her. Sorry to hear that Sandra has tested positive and hope she has only got a mild dose of Covid. Is someone with her in Chester? Does she understand that she MUST NOT go out even if she feels OK?

It’s good that rail is being put in at last Frank and it would be great if you could get your patio relaid as well. Maybe things are looking up a bit for you now.

Ann and Mel, thank you for your cards which arrived at lunchtime.

It’s not been very bright today but it’s still mild and we’ve only had a couple of light showers. I had some urgent post so decided to get some fresh air and walk to the nearest post office. I hadn’t realised how unfit I’ve become. By the time I got back I was shattered and there and back is only a bit more than a mile. I must make more effort to get back to walking more.

I’m now waiting for Sainsbury’s to arrive. OH is cooking tonight and I said to him to get everything prepared in advance because of the Sainsbury’s wipe down. Has he done that? Of course not. So he’ll be faffing round me peeling potatoes and cutting veg while I’m trying to wipe and put away. Men!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Feb 2021 16:42

Only a day late then with my card and Ann's not bad that.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 25 Feb 2021 19:04

Wipe down all done and everything put away with OH getting in the way and thoroughly annoying me but I kept my temper. Yes he did decide to prepare the veg just as I started but I managed to confine him to a corner of the kitchen for that. Then he decided that the dishwasher had to be emptied right then and kept wanting me to move so he could put crockery away. Grrr. Now I am sitting here with a well deserved glass of wine :-D

Morning all,

Gl;ourious day again and makes a change from a good day to back to grey the day afterwards.

Oh is in the garden doing the wire on the patio but I hav'nt been up long. I shall be out there as soon as I have done a bit indoors.

Oh has his jab this afternoon at our docs in Black Torrington at 2.45pm so that will stop play for a while.

I need to cut down the rest of the clematis on the patio today as the little flowered one is shooting already and the Jackmanii is'nt far behind. Then its attack the front of the bungalow where all the alchamilla mollis grows.

O he's pressure washing, better go and see if I need to move anything.

Good morning cloudy bright here this morning, think it rained over night. Didn’t sleep well last night so feel washed out today.

Annoyed with the post my neighbour has sent on a couple of letters we are waiting for. Sent them first class one posted Tuesday, one Wednesday neither arrived yet. We think the sorting office is short staffed but it seems a waste to have paid for first class now. Hope they get here before we go home.

SuffolkVera Report 26 Feb 2021 13:01

Good afternoon Mel, AnnG and everyone

It’s a beautiful day here though there is a bit of a nip in the air. I ought to be out gardening but I don’t feel brilliant this morning. Tum is a bit iffy. I am on a surveillance programme at the hospital and was due a colonoscopy ages ago. I then had a letter saying they were no longer being done automatically and consultant would give me a consultation by phone. This took place early in January and he decided that I should after all be booked in for the procedure, but I am still waiting for the appointment. They are so far behind that goodness knows how long I will have to wait. This Covid has a lot to answer for.

That’s a nuisance about the post AnnG. We seem to have been lucky round here and 1st class is generally arriving next day, though occasionally it takes 2 days. I sent some stuff to brother’s partner first class yesterday and I hope it arrives quickly as it was information needed for probate.

Ann, your picture is great as always. I can just imagine myself walking down to the sea. I can also imagine myself struggling back uphill ;-)

Lunch calls. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Feb 2021 13:48

Bright sunny and a place you want to be. Said oh.

Its lovely Ann and brightens your day and ours.

Just off to the docs for oh's jab.

Frank Report 26 Feb 2021 14:07

Afternoon all, Nothing happening here, I was thinking of trying to get out on the scooter, but not feeling that comfy on my legs, so put it off, plus the fact that Ros was out getting her eyes tested, so no one to look out for me.

I have managed to get the washing on the line, while Ros was out. I have spent the morning reading in the conservatory. The book is based on VERA STANHOPE as a younger person in Newcastle area. Very interesting, and not easy to put down.

Belated Birthday wishes Anne.

Just had a card in the post to let us know an old friend who lived locally has passed away. Not sure where they are living now. But it appears he had aSTROKE in January and never recovered.

I have such a THIRST. I have drunk three large bottles of water this morning, and still my mouth feels dry.

Ros has just bought in a coffee, so will close and wish you all well. xxxx

We both loved your picture Ann and oh was the first to comment on it. He thinks is great as you can see by my first post.

AnninGlos Report 26 Feb 2021 15:49

Vera, well the second letter posted arrived today, the first one which was weighed and stamped in the post office Tuesday pm, post goes 5 pm I think, still has not arrived first class so far three days. The other first class two days. Yes, paper work needed to sort out our ISAs, waiting to hear if they will require probate. So far nobody else has done.

Vera I too thought that about a lovely walk down but a struggle back up. Love the picture though.

Frank you will have to ask Ros to stay home so you can have a practice with her with you.

Mel so have you got a date for your jab?

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 26 Feb 2021 16:37

I am glad you have at least got one letter AnnG. It does make you wonder whether it’s worth paying extra for 1st class post. I have had a text from brother’s partner to say the letter I posted yesterday arrived this morning so I can’t complain about our service.

I’ve just been struggling to write an email in German to my German friend and her husband. She has dementia now and can’t use a computer so her husband does everything for her and sent me a lovely e-card yesterday. I do still try to write in German but it’s getting harder and harder, not having had a lesson since I did A Level German over 60 years ago. I have to admit to resorting to Google Translate now and then. My friend’s English was always a good deal better than my German but I don’t know how much she remembers with her dementia.

Oops phone again. Must go.

Anng I had my jab on the 5th Feb and I did put it on here but you must have missed it. Not surprising with whats been going on.

I posted Vera's card the day after her birthday and she got it next day so I was pleased with that.

Made a trifle this afternoon for sweet tonight. Going to do chicken and roast veg tonight.

Evening All,

I had one of those wide nights last night so have been like a zombie today. I was still awake at 3.00am so was up late and all behind!

I'm glad you liked the little painting, also your OH Mel. I wanted to try it as I really liked the subject. Vera my thoughts about climbing back up from the sea were the same! I used to love those winding paths down to beaches from cliffs too but not anymore. I think your OH and mine must be related as mine always starts emptying the dishwasher just as I am trying to get lunch! In fact, me going into the kitchen seems to be his cue to get up and come in there to get in the way! I don't know if he is hoping for a preview of what is for lunch or what, but he always gets in the way. I'm glad you got my card, as I was a bit late posting it. Hopefully your colonoscopy appointment will be through soon now the NHS pressure has started to ease. Goodness knows when I will be next seeing the knee surgeon. I don't think the home cooking will be a fixture! lol. It will be for quite a while yet though and there is only one place that is spacious with a covered outside area that we might be happy going to at first.

It sounds like you are getting spick and span outside Mel ready for enjoying the garden. That's good your OH has had his jab too now. Which one did he have?

That's good you got your 2 letters AnnG. Something else to be progressed!

Is the handrail that was fitted yesterday a help Frank? I notice you were in the garden today. The walker sounds good and it was sensible to wait till Ros is around before you take your first outing on the scooter.

I saw an old work colleague mention on a social media site that they are working a 7 day week in DWP with all the claims from the pandemic. Of course the public will be expecting service as usual! I never worked in sickness benefit when I was with DSS, but when there was a flu epidemic, anyone working on other sections that had done the work in the past were drafted in to help cope, and those of us elsewhere would be covering their work as well as our own. I'm so thankful to be retired now! :-D

Ann no actually one envelope arrived one, the first posted still has not.

I obviously sadly don’t have this any more but I used to get really aggravated when I was in the kitchen and T always wanted to know what he was getting for dinner. The complete run down of the menu.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Feb 2021 21:25

Hope you get a better sleep tonight Ann its not nice when you can't sleep and you get cross with yourself.

Frank did the rail help you in the garden. Did you have to go down the garden to put the washing out?
