Frank Report 19 Feb 2021 12:16

THIS LOOSING OF POSTS, it getting on my nerves. Yet again this morning.

How are we all today dear friends. ?? I had an iffy night, kept waking up
every time I turned over. The pain is now more in my right BUTTOCK.

Good news this morning. My Electric scooter from the RAF Association will be here between 11,00 am and 3.OO pm on Monday. All I will have to do now, is find somewhere to store it. I would prefer it to come in doors, rather than the garage, where it might get samp.

Ros is in the shower and washing her hair, so the dryer will be whirling away anytime soon.

Cols, windy morning, so not going anywhere. Se you son. xxxx

Good afternoon all

It hasn’t rained yet this morning but it looks quite grey and breezy out there. I haven’t ventured outside yet.

I hope your back didn’t keep you awake last night Frank and that your painkillers are doing their job. Make sure you rest up.

AnnG, thank you for your concern but OH’s eyes are fine. He just wasn’t watching what he was doing when he put the mug down. I am sure about his eyes as they were only tested 4 or 5 weeks ago and he just needed a minor adjustment to his distance glasses. He’s just a bit careless at times.

All is calm here this morning; no cross words. We were both up early after a fairly good night though I kept waking from dreams which I can’t remember at all except there seemed to be a lot of people in them and a lot of hustle and bustle. I showered and washed my hair and I’ve finished the hoovering I didn't get done yesterday. I’ve also prepared tonight’s dinner.

After lunch I’m hoping to go for a little walk and then do a bit more writing up of our 2017 Russian holiday. It’s going to be quite long as I am on page 15 already. I have added quite a few pictures so it’s not all text. I should have done it shortly after the holiday but I kept putting it off. I am enjoying looking through all the guidebooks and leaflets again to remind me of what we did and saw.

I hope Sandra is getting more settled and Gill is feeling less stressed. It would be good to hear from her and know she is OK.

Just realised it’s Friday again. Don’t the weeks go quickly? If you are looking in Elizabeth I am going to beat you to it this week and wish you and everyone else on the thread a peaceful and contented weekend.

Take care and stay safe everyone

EDIT I missed you there Frank. Good news about your scooter.

Just going to get some lunch. Fed the wild birds as they were out of everything and the chickens and bantams. Done one lot of washing but its still in the machine till I have done lunch.

SuffolkVera Report 20 Feb 2021 11:05

Morning Mandy and all

Grey and overcast here and very windy. My phone is telling me it’s 11 deg and my iPad says it’s 13 deg but feels like 11. It doesn’t even feel that warm to me. I’ve got towels in the wash but I’ll probably tumble dry them.

Wednesday and Thursday I had good nights but last night was terrible. OH was in snoring mode and I swear he’d turned the volume up, my right hip and leg got the “jumps” and I had waves of pain through my left foot, the bad one. Eventually I got up, took a couple of painkillers, went in the spare room and read.

I went for a walk yesterday so maybe that set my foot off, but I must get walking or I’ll end up never going outside the house. It’s 5 months since I injured it so it must be healed by now.

That’s enough moaning for one day. It would be nice to post some happy news but there doesn’t seem to be much around.

I’ve got to decide whether to renew our annual travel insurance in the next couple of weeks. I renewed it early March last year as we weren’t yet in lockdown and I thought we’d be able to go away later in the year. Now who knows when we’ll be able to go abroad again. We really want to go back to Vienna when we can as OH was so ill when we were there that we didn’t see anything of the area but I am now in a quandary. If I let the insurance lapse and then take out a new policy if we do get to go away it will be a lot more expensive. If I renew the insurance now and we don’t get away it’s money wasted. Decisions, decisions. They are offering us a very good deal. No increase in price from last year and there was only a slight increase then, in spite of them paying out for our problems in Austria, and they have added some corona virus cover. They have also said they will extend the insurance from 12 months to 15 months so we will be covered up until June 2022. I’ll think about it for a couple of days and then decide.

I can hear OH putting the kettle on and I must go and check on the washing machine. Have a good day everyone.

I keep meaning to tell you lot that Robby is feeding from my hand again. He comes every day and has about three or four worms from my hand and oh's too. He lands on oh's head soemtimes just to let you know he's there.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 20 Feb 2021 13:57

Oh Mel that's lovely having Robbie feeding from your hand again ,is it the same Robbie from last year .

Vera it's hard at the moment to know what to do with the travel insurance ,hopefully we'll hear a bit more from Boris on Monday but I can't see holidays abroad happening for several months ,I would be worried that if the holiday Country goes on the red list it would add a big big cost to the holiday having to qurentine .

Colin has been pressure washing again so I took our coffees out and we sat on the bench in the sun and it was quite warm out there but I did put a coat on.

Hi all, Not stopping as I am feeling terrible. Since Wednesday when in hospital, and they gave me an enema, I haven't been able to go to the loo (sorry to much info) I get the feeling I want to go BUT CAN'T. Keep going into the loo, but nothing happens. Just taken a small medication, and now waiting.

Hope to get back on her tomorrow.

Annx Report 20 Feb 2021 14:30

Afternoon All,

Just lost my post as I finished it.......very annoying! A bit breezy here today and dull, but no rain yet. I slept quite well, unlike poor Vera!

I'm glad you liked my last little picture, I enjoyed doing that one once it was set out.

Good news you have your scooter coming on Monday Frank. I hope you are in less pain with your back now and that you are managing to sleep.

A friend had a hospital dash for a scan after seeing her doctor last week as she developed thrombosis in her leg. She is slim and fit with horseriding and doing her allotment on her own, but I think she may still smoke which is a risk for it. It made me think I must drink more water and at least move around more often with not being able to walk much or use the exercise bike, as being overweight and less mobile are two risks!!

I need to change my bank now to one in the next village. My bank has let me know my free current account with insurance perks will have a £15 per month fee from June!! They closed 2 nearby branches meaning I have to travel into the city and pay costly parking so that's another reason to change. The only perk we have used is the travel insurance and I must be nearing their age limit, The bank in the next village has an account with a fee of just £2 a month, so the saving would pay for travel insurance, not that we go abroad these days. The new account would also give a 15% discount at some retailers. It's still hassle though, although the banks transfer things like standing orders etc. There will still be sites to update like Asda etc. :-S I'm not sure any free current accounts still exist anymore??

Mel how lovely this Robby is and he seems even tamer than the last one! :-D All we have just now are the Pigeons and Magpies that have returned in numbers, plus our little Robin.

Hubby broke an egg yesterday just getting them from the fridge and the cleaning up wasn't up to standard, so I said I would steam it today if he hoovered the kitchen and uti and cleared the floorspace. I told him the edges needed doing with the dyson, but as soon as I was steaming it found the dusty edges he'd missed. I kept very calm (Vera ;-) ;-) and explained again that the steamer would clump and push wet dust around if it wasn't all hoovered up and would need wiping up after so could he do that when it was dry! :-) (hopefully he won't miss any!)

I see the thinking is that Boris won't open hairdressers till April, but we should know on Monday. My hair is just on the turn now and not laying as it should, so should be a bit wild by April. I might get an appointment booked as soon as it is confirmed before the rush!

Now I must get on with my Primrose to paint. OH is working then has some footie to watch. It will be good when we can get the lounge tv working again, hopefully before summer. It has been a long year managing with the small ones!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Feb 2021 15:25

Still very windy and wet here and it dos'nt look like its going to change any time soon.

I don't think our bank charges us anything. They closed all the banks in holsworthy and Bideford which I used to go to so now I do my banking in the mobile post office.
I don't think we knew you had a primrose to paint Ann. Was that from the last lesson?

Yes its lovely to have Robby back but he dos'nt stay on my hand yet just bounces off with a worm in his beak and then comes back for another one and so on.

It must be hard to know whether to get your travel insurance or not, is it very expensive as I have never been abroad I would'nt know. Hope you have a better night tonight Vera.

Hope you feel better soon Frank and get your long awaited clear out!!! ;-) Not long till Monday now when the scooter arrives.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Feb 2021 15:42

Oh dearFrank I know that can be very painful as it was how Tony was after enemas. It was five days before his body adjusted again. Make sure you drink plenty of water and eat some fruit.

Ann my bank doesn’t charge me anything for current accounts. I hope they don’t start charging..

I have to learn to use the steamer when I go home.

We need a photo of Robbie on OH Mel.

Pouring with rain here again.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 20 Feb 2021 16:39

Oh poor you Frank. That can be very uncomfortable. Try to relax as getting stressed can make it worse.

It’s great that you have Robbie back taking food from your hand Mel. I wouldn’t be able to cope with that. I love the birds, I feed them and enjoy watching them but I couldn’t have one touch me. Silly I know but some people can’t handle spiders or mice and I’m fine with those.

Ann, we don’t pay for our current account. We don’t get any perks with it but we don’t really need any.

It’s been beautiful here this afternoon. I was going to go for a walk but thought it might be better to do a bit in the garden. I was out there for quite a while and got various pots tidied up and cleared away some dead stuff from the beds. I see we have a few daffodils on the point of flowering.

Our council haven’t collected garden waste since the beginning of January and our bin is full to the brim now. If they don’t start coming again soon we will have to take our garden rubbish to the tip.

Enjoy your roast chicken Mandy. I haven’t even decided what to have tonight but I’ve got some pork out of the freezer to roast tomorrow. I’ll probably do fish today.

I'm never there when Robby lands on oh's head and he would'nt let me take his picture anyway.

Lamb chops for us tonight and a bottle of Rose' toms mushrooms peas maybe and chips or just the veg. Will have to see what oh wants. I gave him new pots last night and I think he ate one of the 7 I put on his plate. He seems to have gone off of everything at the mo.
