Morning Anng, Gwyn and all,

Raining here again and dull and dreary with it. I don't know why we get one nice day and then its back to wind and rain and grey skies.

The only urgent job today is to get the dustbin bag up the top for tomorrow morning as they come so early.

My nose keeps running so I am off now to give it a good blow. <3

You must have put them on later in your typing Mandy it happens sometimes if you correct something or cross something out.

Thank you for your birthday wishes and thank you Mandy and AnnG for your cards and for the enclosure Ann. I know that Corinthians 13 passage so well as it was read the first and last day of every term at my grammar school, so I heard it 6 times a year for 7 years. It is lovely and meaningful.

I am in a whirl this morning as the landline hasn’t stopped ringing or my mobile pinging with texts. I have done very well with cards and pressies; people are so kind and generous. Our post doesn’t come till around 1pm but I already have 18 cards, plus a couple of nice emails and an e-card. I’ve had flowers, chocolates, candles, wine, a vase, an ornament, earrings, a scarf and garden and Waitrose vouchers. One friend who can’t get out even slipped a £10 note in a card. Another friend has texted that she will be dropping something at the door at around 12.30. OH did buy me a present in spite of me saying not to and I love it. It’s a small, hand made bronze sculpture of two cats curled up together and can go indoors or outside. I thought I might have it on a flower bed or under a shrub in the summer and indoors in the winter.

It’s sunny and mild here this morning but very windy. There seems to be an East/West divide. If it’s sunny in the West, it’s pouring or snowing here and vice versa. AnnG, my son loves the Lake District and he went to uni in Carlisle but his description of the weather there is “it’s either raining or it’s about to rain”.

There’s the phone again. OH is answering it but I’d better go as all the calls today seem to be for me. Yes, it is. Bye for now.

Sorry Vera, I forgot to wish you a happy birthday, must have been half asleep when I posted. Couldn’t get to sleep until gone 2am this morning so feel weary today. Anyway have a lovely day <3 <3 <3 and what lovely presents you have had, especially like the sound of the cats.

Yes it does seem like an East West divide. So far we have had three reasonable days in the past week, the rest wet. It does look as if it might be ok at the weekend. The reading, we had at our wedding. It was too long for him to read it all out so we had it all on the back of the order of service and just a couple of verses read out. In my teens I had to learn the whole passage for a scripture exam ( not something you see these days). :-)

Morning All,

<3 <3HAPPY BIRTHDAY VERA <3 <3. You have done well with all your presents and cards and are being kept busy with all the calls. I too like the sound of the cats.

I was up before 8.00am AnnG, ready for my course at 9.00am. Mind you I didn't sleep well and could have done with staying in bed longer! It was bright sunshine near York where the teacher is but has been dull and windy here most of the day.

I wonder if Frank will be going for a spin today! :-D

I had some surprising and good news from my blood sugar HB1Ac test yesterday. Despite the test including Christmas, when we eat all the wrong things for blood sugar, my levels were down 3 points, so I am classed as 'normal' now and am not prediabetic like in the last 2 annual tests. I've done less exercise than ever, have hardly lost any weight, so it must be diet and home cooking. I ate healthily with all the carveries before, but it was easy then to call in the shop for treats to have later
which doesn't happen now.

It sounds like your son has plenty to do with all the checks that have to be done Mandy. H&S has added lots of work. My mind was boggling at the thought of how you would paint on T bags!! :-0 Were they very tiny paintings or did she cut the bags open and flatten them out to paint on? The pencil cases are another good idea for the children, but it's years since I sewed a zip in something and you have to be very accurate from what I remember! It was warm yesterday as you say and we had lunch in the conservatory as the sun had warmed it up nicely. We saw some Crows seeing off a Buzzard that was flying too low for them and are looking forward to sitting out watching the birds again.

I hope we hear from Gill soon?

You're lucky Mandy with sunshine today as its just been grey and windy here.

Ann thats great results for your blood test. It must be cutting out all those little treats after eating out.

Has anyone looked at the surfing duck yet??

Annx

Annx Report 24 Feb 2021 18:02

Thanks for posting that link Gwyn. She's good as Mandy said before, but you'd think the tea might stain the paint colours. Acrylic would probably work though.

We had some rain for a short while and the wind hasn't dropped all day. I've had a tortuous time trying to load my 'Office CD' onto my new laptop. I did it with my previous laptop and the one before and had the product key, but it went so far and then there was nowhere to enter the key number this time!!! :-S I think I must have used up the number of times it could be used so it looks like more expense!

OH has a meeting now so I might do some more painting and then an early night as I feel quite weary.

Ann she dried out the t bag and opened it op spread it out and coated it with i think it was called some thing like Gesso ,she was painting a butterfly ,so pretty

Annx

Annx Report 24 Feb 2021 20:42

It could be gesso or gouache she used Mandy. Either would seal the surface although I've never tried them yet.

The surfing duck wasn't a bit scared was it Mel! It would be a shock to see one come whizzing past you in the sea.

Well I rang our computer support before giving up and they found the window to put the key number in had to be changed so it would show the box to put it in. The trouble was that to do it he had to make the words on the laptop so small I couldn't read them and I couldn't see what this long key number which had letters and dashes too was as I was typing it in! I ended up with a magnifying glass in one hand, but it worked and is all done now and he put things back as they were afterwards. I also dug out some old cheap supermarket glasses I bought last time I painted a ceiling and they seem better for reading the computer screen but obviously useless for distance!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 24 Feb 2021 21:05

I have varificals they have always been fine for the computer until the last two pairs now I invariably have to use a magnifying glass for small letters and numbers. I was reading about somebody who suffered with neck and shoulder pain for years and it has just been diagnosed it is because of her varifocals. She got different glasses just fir the computer and her pain has gone. So I might get myself a pair.

Thank you Gwyn and Island, I have had a lovely day with so many calls, cards and pressies. Since I posted before I’ve had another garden voucher, more flowers and 6 pairs of socks. I had another 3 calls this afternoon and this evening I had a long FaceTime call with son, dil and 2 of my granddaughters. Aren’t people nice? It’s a difficult time of year for me as yesterday was the anniversary of my mother dying and the anniversary of my father’s death is on Saturday. I also lost a favourite aunt in February and of course this year I have had my brother’s funeral so I tend to be a bit down at this time of year. But everyone has been so lovely to me over the last couple of days that it’s really given me a boost.

Good news about your blood sugar levels Ann. It’ll be all home cooking from now on then :-).

No birthday cake Mandy. We both like fruity things but aren’t so keen on cream cakes and icing. In fact we just finished the last of the marmalade loaf cake I made the other day.

I think I'll have to get my act together and do some h/w tomorrow. Boring!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VERA <3 <3 It sounds like you've been spoilt.

Sorry I haven't been on here for ages, my mum ended up back in hospital and might need another stent putting in. I got a phone call just after midnight the other night and it was the emergency people she has, to do with her bed sensor and push button she has. Sorry I can't remember what the service is called. Anyway they rang me asking if I knew where my mum was as they'd gone around there and she wasn't in the house. I didn't know where she was so of course I didn't sleep very well that night. The people had sent someone to her house which is how they knew she wasn't there. I rang mum the following day and that's when she told me she'd been in hospital. Apparently my sister knew but never told me. She never tells me anything regarding mum being ill or in hospital, but then that's her all over.

I've also had problems with my Internet, it keeps going off, I've got an engineer coming on Sunday so hopefully things will improve after then.

I'm so sorry I haven't sent any birthday cards this month. I hope you had a lovely birthday to Mel. My heads been all over the place lately with Sandra and my mum. Sandra caught Covid and has to have another test on Saturday. Her friend has said she doesn't want her there anymore so she's in a flat in Chester until she's over the virus, then I think the social are going to find her somewhere else to live, so at you can see I have a lot on my mind at the moment.

I'm sorry for worrying everyone, I've just lost track of days. Thanks for your PM AnnG, I'm okay, just a bit worried about Sandra and mum, but hopefully things will be better soon.

Morning all,

Sunny today and oh is out doing the pond.

Giull o glad you popped in and sorry to hear Sandra has corvid but it was bound to happen with the way she keeps moving about and going out. I hope things settle for you soon and your mum's stent op goes ok for her. She will soon be back to her normal self. Oh has had stents and so I think has rank's Ros.

Have to see if its library today as I missed it the last time it came and with another lockdown I am not sure when it comes again.

Hope you all slept well or at least got enough zzz's in to see you through the day ahead.

Sending love to all. <3
