The craft sounds good then Annx, Yes I have seen the bowmaker before not got one though.

OH phoned again to say they are keeping him in overnight. He couldn't say why as his phone is low on battery. He said he was OK But I am sure he'd rather be home. Trouble is now I can sit and think of all the nasties it could be. While the docs didn't appear bothered I could just not think about it. Seems very strange here on my own, even though I usually spend most evenings on my own, me downstairs him upstairs

Oh well at least I have strictly to watch.

Ann mum made things on the polystyrene balls and egg shapes with pins material and sequins they looked very good. It was when she made things for the guide dogs for the blind. We used to have a Xhristmas fair in the scouts hut round the corner from us when we lived in Redbridge and my son was small and in the cubs. He always helped on the stalls too.

Anng at least you knw he's in good hands should anything else happen and they will keep an eye on him all the time. I hope you get some well earned sleep tonight knowing you don't have to wake if you feel he is walking about.

Oh has had the American election on the telly for about four days now and its been driving me mad. It seems that Biden has won now. Trump has gone to play golf before the final results!!!!!!

I am sure you are anxious Ann but focus on the positives. He’s been telling the medical people how he feels but in hospital they will be able to see for themselves how T. is and what’s happening with him and can then maybe start him on the road to recovery. I am sure they will take good care of him.

Putting masks out for people to take is a lovely idea Mandy. It’s a very kind thought.

So, the police have been called in to break up a firework party in your village Ann. It makes you wonder where some people keep their brains doesn’t it? We’ve had more people than usual letting off a few fireworks in their own gardens but I think that’s probably because the organised one on the field at the bottom of our road isn’t happening and parents don’t want their kids to be disappointed.

I do wonder about our neighbours. While we were having lunch we saw a car draw up to our neighbours and it only left a short while ago so they have presumably had visitors. Yet they are both vulnerable, both just come out of hospital and anyway it is against lockdown rules. Our neighbours are nice people so I can only think they genuinely do not understand the rules.

Island, I gave up my trusty chariot once I could walk about a bit. It’s back in the conservatory with a tray of cuttings on it.

I didn’t go for another little walk today as I think I might have gone too far yesterday for a first walk. My foot’s been quite painful today so it’s been the sexy shoe again.

I hope you all sleep well tonight without aches and pains, anxious thoughts or falls out of bed.

Thank you Mr Mel , I had a lady ring the door bell this afternoon she wanted to pay me for the two masks she had in her hand ,I told her to donate some thing to a charity or the poppy appeal ,she said she liked the print on the material and would there be any more as they would make nice pressies .
I told her I would be doing some Christmas ones in a few weeks time so she said oh lovely I'll look out for them .
I put about a dozen masks out and there was two left when I went out to get them before dark.

AnnG I hope you can settle to a good night's sleep tonight ,try not to worry to much you know OH is being looked after . <3

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Nov 2020 22:17

O Mandy how nice of the lady to knock on the door and offer to pay for the masks. I would love a couple of Christmas ones when you make them please? I just hav'nt got round to making any this year. I seem to have so much more to do.

People really do appreciate you making them for nothing. You don't get much for nothing these days. Your a good girl and clever with it.

Have you finished the gingerbread house yet??? Dying to see the pics of it. <3

AnninGlos Report 8 Nov 2020 07:57

Not too bad a night, managed about 5+ hours sleep then a bit og dozing, trouble is that is when you start to think and worry. Two main worries, has OH managed to find somehow he can re-charge his phone (he hasn't got the charger with him. Hopefully somebody has a universal charger. Second worry is more important. Is he still likely to lose the feeling in his legs which is why he has started to fall. This being a worry because we live in a house where the stairs go off the landing across the top of the stairs, and the opening to the stairs is right in the middle opposite the door to bathroom, between the two main bedrooms.Frightened if he loses his balance there he will fall down the stairs.

Anyway, good morning, looks grey out there but dry and 10 degrees so mild. A day of waiting for me I think.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Nov 2020 08:53

OH just phoned (0830). He sounds very cheerful and a nurse has brought him in a charger. (he always could charm the birds out of the trees. Mind, he didn't say if it wa male or female nurse).

They want to keep him for another day, he just spoke unofficially to the doctor, due the official visit now. He says they are concerned that he is steady on his feet and not likely to fall again because of me having the problem of not being able to lift him. He has not been walking around yet. They also seem to be looking at his eating problem. He is going to phone again later.

So that is a worry off my mind. I kept thinking that when he fell the second time he had just gone across the top of the stairs but stumbled into the bathroom, could so easily have gone the other way.

Good to know he is being looked after well although they have not said anything about his headaches. They can't be connected to the UTI because he had them way before. No mention of prostate or anything and he thinks the catheter will be removed before he comes home.OH

SuffolkVera Report 8 Nov 2020 09:24

Morning AnnG and all

Talking to OH will have eased your mind Ann. It sounds as though the hospital is looking after him and won’t let him home till he’s steadier. I wonder if the UTI could have affected his balance. I know that sort of infection can affect the brain and cause confusion, particularly in older people, so who knows what else it can do. The hospital will find the cause I am sure. Just make sure you eat properly and look after yourself as well.

A very misty, murky start to the day but the sun is just trying to break through. OH is back from his walk and I must try and rouse myself to do something instead of blobbing about all day.

MillymollyAmanda Report 8 Nov 2020 10:12

Morning all ,

AnnG that's good you've spoken to OH this morning ,they will get him mobile before he's allowed home ,perhaps they give him a frame to help steady him when he walks .
Look after yourself and make sure you eat something .

Yes Mel of course I'll make you a couple of Christmas masks
. I haven't done any more of the ginger bread house as the deco mesh came and I had a fiddle with tthat ,also I'm making the girls headband ear warmers so with that and the masks I have plenty to kep busy with over lock down .

Lovely and sunny here now after a really thick foggy start to the day .

I have two Christmas puddings in the steamers ,I weighed all the ingredients out yesterday and soaked the fruit ,it's a Mary berry pud recipe ,it should be one big pud but I've split it into two ,it says steam for eight hours for the big pud but I'm not sure how long to steam for doing two smaller pound ones ,think I'll give them about six hours and hope for the best.

Next job cut Colins toenails ,he's sitting here with his feet in a bowl giving them a nice soak ........oh the jobs we have to do :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Nov 2020 10:47

Ooh Mandy I hate toenails I have to do OH's now of course.

Yes it is good to know he is being well looked after, they are checking his eating as well so hope they come up with something there. I also think he is going to physio some time (keeping him busy) so maybe that will help his back.
Vera I am pretty sure that the weak legs have only happened since he deeloped the UTI. Daughter and I also think they will be checking his prostate because that can cause back pain as well.

Better go and look at the garden, it is murky out there but not cold, just damp. There are loads of leaves off the apple tree to get off the lawn, the leaf blower is too heavy for me so it will be back to the old fashioned way. :-)

Annx Report 8 Nov 2020 12:06

Morning All,

It's just a dull morning here, no fog.

I'm glad you were able to speak to your OH this morning AnnG and it does sound as if they are tackling some of the problems he has now. Stairs have always been a worry of mine and are why I prefer bungalow. He will have to be extra careful while he's still unsteady. Mandy's suggestion of a walker would help and FIL had 2, one upstairs and one downstairs so perhaps you could suggest that.

Mandy how lovely that lady came to your door to offer to pay for the masks. :-) The Christmassy ones are such a good idea and the children will love them......also their earmuffs you are making.

Lunch is ready so I'd better check things. Then it is wipe down this afternoon. :-(

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Nov 2020 12:31

Afternoon all,

Anng its good that they are keeping OH in for another day as all the time he is there they can keep an eye on him and his problems. He may tell them more than he tells you. Good too they arranged for him to charge his phone so he could ring you. I do hope they can do something about the headaches he has and get to the rooto f the problem. Stay safe and relax a bit more now you know he's in good hands. Sending love and wishes and a gentle (((hug))).

Its quite mild out and not much wind today like we had yesterday. Skies a bit grey but it does break a bit to let a little sun through.

Oh saw a big dragonfly round his pond laying eggs. He's never seen one in November before.

I need to try and clean the big girls out today as its not windy but I bet by the time I get round to it the wind will come up.

Stay out of trouble all and keep safe.

Oh just told me they have taken the suit of of Donald Trump in the wax works in London and put golfing clothes and hat on him.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Nov 2020 13:04

Spent about an hour in the garden, it is damp but not cold and I have managed to cut the dahlias down ready for lifting and to pull up the remaining Rudbeckia plus shifting a few (small) pots up to the patio to winter as it is sheltered there sp feel quite pleased about that.
Mandy meant to say how kind of the lady to offer to pay for the masks unlike some people who like to get something for nothing. and the Christmas masks will be popular with the children.

Mel I don't know about him telling them nore than he tells me. He has always been a bit of a prude with nudity and would always shut the bathroom door even when just shaving (lock it too. But since he has had this problem I said to our daughter, I have seen more of him and heard more about his bodily functions than I have heard the whole 60 years we have been married.

Annx Yes I will see what he thinks about a walker (or two) have you seen the price of them? My sister (who has one) suggested a stair lift. Bet he won't go for that but I shall see what he says.

Annx

Annx Report 8 Nov 2020 14:27

Two things occur to me AnnG. I think the hospital assess whether you need one and they arrange the correct adjustment if they provide one. On line it suggests you ask a GP, physio or hospital staff about getting one and says you may need to pay a deposit. I know FIL bought one of his from a Mobility Shop. This site is useful but keep scrolling as your OH won't need many of the things. It gives links to other sites as well as telling you what to consider.

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/social-care-and-support-guide/care-services-equipment-and-care-homes/household-gadgets-and-equipment-to-make-life-easier/

I think your confidence takes a knock when you find it a struggle to do things you managed before, even if it is temporary, so very best wishes to him and hopefully he will soon be back to his old self.

I hope the sexy shoe is doing the trick Vera and helping your foot again. I keep having to have a couple of days break from the exercise bike although I only do a couple of hundred pedals. I think it needs the pedalling to stretch the ligaments and muscles and stop some of the stiffness, but, like your foot, also needs rest breaks to recover. I think some people are befuddled by all the rules and changes and are not up to date with them so your neighbours may be the same. We said to each other on Thursday that the change in motorway traffic noise we can hear in the garden wasn't noticeable at all like it was with the last lockdown.

That's interesting your mum did the fabric baubles too Mel. Did she cut round them to tuck the fabric in? It was good to raise funds for Guide Dogs too.

I've realised I haven't done the last bit of painting of boxes for tomorrow's class so I better do that before the food delivery comes at 4.00pm, although it might be earlier again like last time. :-0

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 8 Nov 2020 14:38

I was going to say the hospital will probably send him home with one of those walking frames ,physio will probably sort that out .

Mel I have emailed you .

Ann we've noticed there is a lot more people about this time round ,when I stand at the kitchen window there's lots of people coming down the churchyard and lots more traffic I can see too.
Get that homework done you don't want to get a detention :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Nov 2020 15:53

I think this time they have said you can drive to exercise and you can exercise more than once a day. It is so foul out there dark and drizzly rain, I can't think why anyone would want to go out to exercise.

thanks for the tips, I will wait and see what he says. :-) :-)

Mel emailed you again .

Well the christmas puddings smell lovely Colin said we could try one and leave the other :-D Nooooooo

I copied out a christmad pud recipe from FB little puds cooked in the oven in a muffin tin ,it had a jar of mincemeat and grated chocolate and ginger in it ,you make them, freeze them , thawed out they take forty seconds in the micro wave .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Nov 2020 19:38

Could you send me that recipe for the little puds please as I don't go on Facebook. Thanks.
