Yes I have planted French Marigolds, Nasturtiums and the tomato, squash seeds and 2 of the self set pansies from that pretty yellow one I had through the winter. Sadly it was overcome by all the heat recently and had to be taken out, but the 3 new ones from it might flower just as well..

My word Gill that was quite a job with the Red Robins and I can see how you filled all those bags! Best to wait till it is quieter at the tip though. That is why we are giving it a bit longer before starting to take our rubbish. I hope it is good news coming about the job for your OH and that was a nice gesture from where he has been working. You do very well with your cuttings and it does give you some spare plants till you go to the garden centre. Tomorrow I want to transplant some more of the seedling Snapdragons that are self set. It's nice having plants for free and I think I have some with greener foliage that may be from the yellow ones. No telling what the flowers from the crossbreeds could be really like though so it should be interesting!! :-D

OH is in the middle of a virtual meeting so I think I will see if the funeral has been loaded yet.

Most of my plants are either cuttings, presents, or plants that have been left to us after people have passed away Ann. We have a lovely large Rhododendron which was OH's dad's, his mum doesn't like gardening and only wanted grass, so she gave us some plants including the Rhododendron after OH's dad passed away, it's about four and half foot tall and is just coming into flower, so we should have lots of red flowers soon.

Most of the plants we have given us I try and take cuttings from, so over time I've managed to fill my border. My mum had lots of grass's she didn't want a few years ago and they are great for bulking out a border. With having everything in pots they're also good for hiding the pots behind them. The climbing Fatsia has grown as one long stalk, but the leaves are quite big, hopefully over time each one of those will produce further branches, but for now it's just big enough to put in the planter we made, even if the plant isn't very bushy at the moment. I just need to buy some more compost and find a pot the right size to fit the planter we made.

I had two small pots of succulents and managed to split them into 23 plants, the ones on the kitchen window sill are doing great and the other's in the side room aren't far behind, so we'll have lots of new ones soon. The only problem with those is they don't like being out doors in the winter, so they'll have to go into the greenhouse until next spring once they're big enough to go outside. I took a Penstemon cutting last winter and kept it on my kitchen window sill and although it's not very big it has flowers on it and is now in the border in the back garden, it's a lovely purple/pink one.

It sounds like you've been busy with all your planting, I hope the 3 new ones are okay in this dry weather. We're suppose to be having some rain on Wednesday, but as a rule we water every day, even if it rains, just to make sure they get some water as some of the plants have a big canopy, so there's no guarantee the rain makes it into the pots.

I've done a bit of dusting today and of course washed the bedding, but apart from that I've not done anything, so I've been a bit bored. Not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow now everything is done. I'll have to put my thinking cap on lol ;-)

Oh has cleaned out the hot tub and has now filled it ready to start heating it up a bit. Not too much though or it will be just as bad in it as out of it.

I have done his feet after a nice soak and he's more comfortable now. Washed his slippersand not done any dinner so we are going to have toasted cheese and onion sandwiches. Well I will do them for him and find something for myself we had cheese and biccies for tea last night and I find it a bit too salty for me now as I get so dry at night.

I may just have bread and jam..........I really fancy that now. :-D

You've been busy again and its good oh has one shift next week and thats better than nothing as you say. Hope he gets more response from the other job he applied for.

My turn for the big wipe down tomorrow. A waste of a day I always think. Need to make sure all the work surfaces are clear and do those first. I hope he is not too late with our delivery tomorrow as he has been later the last couple of times and it comes just before lunch which is a right pain if I don't get it all done before.

Gillx Report 2 Jun 2020 09:18

Morning all

Good luck with your scan today Jane, I'm thinking of you <3 <3 <3

Another sunny day but not as warm as it has been.

I've just watered the tomatoes and strawberries in the greenhouse. You were right Mel, the compost doesn't keep the water for long, so I'm watering the plants twice a day to keep the moisture in. I don't suppose it helps with the sun on the greenhouse all day, but the tomatoes are really growing so I must be doing something right LOL. OH nipped to the home who asked for the references yesterday and the boss said she would be in touch sometime this week if he's lucky enough to get an interview. Not sure if the interview will be over the phone or face to face though. I hope he gets that job as none of the other's have even asked for references and his old boss doesn't look like she's going to give him many shifts and certainly not enough to pay the bills and buy food with.

OH's taken the last of the rubbish to the tip, but after he left I noticed a couple of pots that still had cut back plants in, that I was going to throw away. Never mind, the car was full so no room for them anyway and they're not in the way where they are hidden behind the tall conifers at the bottom of the garden, so they can stay there for now as they can't be seen and they're not in the way of anything.

I do hear off Sandra occasionally Mandy, but not very often. She did say she didn't like lockdown and wants to go out but can't at the moment, but that was ages ago so she might be going out a bit more now. Like I said I haven't heard from her for a while, apart from a text at 2.26am letting me know about a programme she thought I might like to watch, I only noticed the text this morning when I turned my phone on.

I heard on the weather earlier than Scotland will be getting some sleet and snow on the higher ground, who'd of thought it in June. I think OH might cut our lawn later before the rain that's due tomorrow. I'm hoping we have a good downpour of rain to get rid of the last of the dust still hanging around from cutting the plants up, plus the grass could do with more water, it's starting to go white even though it's watered every night.

Morning all,

Nice and sunny here and if the weather turns I will be sorry to see it go. Its been so nice to wake to sunshine every day.

I hope G has more luck with this interview Gill and gets something permanant soon.

Its my wipe down day today and I have a lot of subs on this order which is a nuisance.
I know its going to take me all morning to clean it all up and I am not looking forward to it.

I do hope the face to face meeting goes ok today for our Jane and the results are better than expected. Thinking of you Jane and sending love and wishes. <3 <3 <3

Frank Report 2 Jun 2020 10:56

Good morning to you all,

I do think you were a bit harsh with me Mel, we did the correct distancing while we visited Conrad, and would have been fine, if I hadn't had the fall.

I have had a couple of beautiful BLACK EYES and bruising on my face, A very badly grazed right knee, which Ros has kept dressed. It's now drying up, so leaving it uncovered. My headache and neck and shoulder are giving me a lot of pain.

I am waiting for a call from the Dr. as I am almost out of the painkillers the hospital gave me, and feel I need some more.

With the shutdown, Ros's roots needed doing, so she bought some hair treatment, which I applied to the roots. THE HAIR TURNED GINGER. She has now bought the one that "HOLLY" advertises. She has just applied it, and awaiting results.

We have a pair of Blackbirds who are getting very tame, and come down whenever we go onto the patio. We have been feeding them meal worms, and bird seed, which they seem to like.I can't see if they are nesting in the garden, but they certainly keep their eyes on us.

I hope the Flower Delivery people, deliver the flowers, I have ordered for Ros, for our anniversary tomorrow. (42 years) THREE LIFE SENTENCES. lol lol.

The forecast is for rain tomorrow. Nice sunny day here again, so will enjoy it with a sit outside.

Take care all,See you soon. xxxx

AnninGlos Report 2 Jun 2020 11:20

good morning Mel and Frank.

Mel, I hope your shopping arrives on time so it doesn't interfere with your meal.

Frank, I think we were concerned about both of you and also the extra pressure on the NHS. I am actually surprised that neither of you are Shielded, particularly as Ros has had heart problems which makes her much more vulnerable. and if she were shielded you would both be still staying at home all the time. One rule that has not changed is not going in to anyone else's house so it was unfortunate that you would have broken that rule as well as the not staying over rule (Unavoidable in the circumstances but still not allowed which is why we should not travel that far at our ages). seeing the events at Weston Super mare hospital with all the staff positive, I am sure you were lucky that the hospital you went to (Torbay?) was OK.
Anyway, it sounds as if you are still suffering so I hope that you can get some more painkillers and you should stay resting by the sounds of it. Hope it all heals soon.

Just in time for lunch Mel well done.

We have just been to the garden centre, hardly anyone there which was good, got three plants for a pot that had a lavender in that died and some compost. we were looking for a new parasol but the ones they have are all too big for what we want. It is tiring though, like having a large child with me, reminding him to put sanitizer on, don't touch what we are not buying, then when we get home, wash your hands. He knows but he forgets. And this morning he brought the bins in, the two bins kept out the front are back to back so have to be moved each week so the one for collection is at the front. OK fair enough they were in the right order, but the one at the back was the wrong way round so the handle was not where it should be to be pulled out, ok when empty but difficult when full. I said 'sometimes I think it is better if you don't help' which made him laugh and nod his head. :-D :-D

Sorry AUNTIE, xxx

I thought the hospital give me pain killers, but the were ANTI-BIOTICS. It seemed strange that when I took them as prescribed, it seemed to help with my headache. I have also noticed that my left eye is much more clear than before. I spoke with the Dr. and he advised to contact them if the headaches continue after next weekend.

John and Carolyn walked round to see me, and we had a good chat, with them distancing up the drive. He has had a couple of falls in the garden this week, but on the lawn. A little easier to fall on, than rough concrete. !!! He said when this is all over we will go out for a nice meal somewhere.

We are having a lasagne tonight, so it will make a nice change. I still have cold pork in the fridge from Sunday. So will use that for a sarnie, rather than waste it.

I am sorry to say, I don't know about Jane's recent condition, as I haven't read the posts. I do hope she is coping well, after her scan, and any treatment. Sending you my love if you are looking in.xxx

It's Simons B'day on 19th July. I think Sally mentioned to Ros. that he you
l
d do with some more Shorts, as he has ruined some, doing work on his Narrow boat. I know he is 36 " waist, so will get him some on line, as the shops are still closed in town.

My stitches are beginning to feel itchy, so I must not touch them. I assume the wound is healing under them, and I will be pleased to see them gone next Monday. Then I will b able to see what scar I have.

News Time, so see you later. xxx

Afternoon All
Well as I had thought it was not good news .My treatment has not worked and so I am to try a different Chemo drug beginning next week.I will lose my hair with this one.I have also been bleeding internally and have to have 3 units of blood tomorrow.
As you can imagine this is a huge blow and my head is all over the place again.
I will probably have a break from posting for a little while .

Gillx Report 2 Jun 2020 17:34

Yes, I think the itching is a sign it's healing Frank, I hope it doesn't leave a big scar. Keep an eye on your headaches and call for help if you need it, you have to be so careful with head injuries. How is Ros, it must of been a shock for her to.

I've been thinking of Jane all day, I really hope her scan results were good.

Mel, can you let me know when you send the parcel to me please so I can keep an eye out for it. Thanks. So you got all your wiping down done in time for lunch just like you wanted, that would free up your afternoon then.

Your OH sounds very much like mine AnnG ;-) ;-) Do you think they do these things on purpose so we don't ask them to do the jobs again LOL very crafty if they do. I sometimes say to my OH you need more practice, then for some reason the jobs are done better next time. I know how you feel about putting the bins in a position that's easier for them to be moved, especially if the bin is heavy, it's a job and a half for me sometimes to turn the bin around, OH can't see what the problem is, but then he wouldn't as he's stronger than me so can easily move the bin.

I felt like OH's secretary today when he was taking the last of the rubbish to the tip. His boss rang about 5 times with different shifts for him, even changing two of the days for different ones, she did appologise as she was on the phone almost every 10 minutes for about an hour, so OH now has three shifts a week for the next two weeks. He has to have a Coronavirus test along with all the staff so is hoping he can have his on Monday when he's there. The tests are being done over three days starting Monday and his next shift after Monday isn't until the following Thursday, so it'd save him having to go in on his day off. He was pleased when he finally got back from the tip over 4 hours after he left, that he had more shifts, but with not working for a week or so I think he's going to be very tired again.

OH's just made me a drink and put it down in front of the fan so I'd better go and drink it before it goes cold.
