Just put it in the search box Mel, thanks, it's very informative. Pity I didn't check this thread half an hour ago I was starting with a headache and took a pain killer, it worked and my headache has gone, but the pressure point might of had the same effect and saved me having to take the tablets. I'll try it next time I feel a headache coming on. I think it was because OH had been in the garden weeding all day as it only started when he came in for a bath. You should make yourself a shopping list Mel, then you wouldn't forget anything you go out for. We have things the other way around and in the Chemist we have to pay on our card as they won't take cash. £10 is a lot though, around here the minimum spend is a fiver.

Oh dear Vera, you're not having a good day are you? Did you work out why your electric went off, was it because you had so many things on at the same time? Pity you couldn't salvage the bread, it would of been nice to have a fresh loaf to eat. I assume your chicken pies cooked okay once everything came back on?

I see Ros is still as busy as ever Frank, does she ever stop, I feel tired just reading about all the things she does. You were lucky you didn't have a fall in the shower, take more water with it lol. :-D Sorry to hear you had a bad tum, hope it's all okay now.

Yes, I'm doing okay with my family tree, be it a bit slow, but at least I'm finding the odd person every now and then so I'm getting there.

I think I've let my drink go cold, so I'm going to make another one now and give my eyes a break from the screen for a bit. I was going to carry on, but a break will do me good.

Evening all,

Some sun here today but it hasn't been very warm out ,i had a bit of a sweep up by the back door and did a few other jobs but i was glad to get in my hands were really cold .

AnnG thats a lovely keepsake you've made for your grand daughter to keep ,hope your back is beginning to ease a bit ,perhaps a couple of days rest over the week end will help .
Hope your OH managed to get the picture of the car sent off to help the police .

Oh Mel all those little chicks they are so cute ,i hope the fox isn't about to pick the off ,so sad when you count each day and there one or two less each time .
Lovely rainbow ,where is that ? at the shop ?

Ann it sounds as if your getting a dab hand at the old zooming now :-D i'm looking forward to seeing the owl .

Glad to hear you had a better night Vera , its a devil about the leccy going off i wonder what caused the trip ,we had a bulb blow on the landing the other morning and that put the trip switch down ,the bulb went off with such a ping .
How did the bread come out in the end was it spoilt with the leccy going off ?

Frank i bet Ros's stir fry was so much better than a tale away ,you must have enjoyed it if your having it again today .
Well done to Ros still beavering away on the scrub bags she done so well .
Hope your tummy is better now.

Gill i think some times you don't notice the dandelions until they flower ,that was a good sized on you had there :-D

I thought the bit at the end of Gardeners world was so nice with all the pictures of Nigel ,i think poor old Monty will really miss him .

Evening All,

Another nice day but a bit chilly to sit out at all.

That is a lovely keepsake for your grandaughter's memory box AnnG and I'm sure she will treasure it.

Oh Vera, I wonder what made the electric go off. How was the bread in the end....or shouldn't I ask!

Mel what a lovely sight to see those little chicks in your garden and the cheeky Blackbird getting a free meal! It's funny you mention about acupuncture/pressure for migraines as OH used to tell me to try pressing where the pain was as he found it helped relieve it when he did it. Fancy having to go back to the shop for the ham but the thick slices do sound nice. :-)

I will send a pic of the Owl when it is finished. I don't seem to get much time for crafts lately........too busy with food, ordering it, planning it or cooking it! OH is loving all the home cooked food, but I've told him not to get too used to it! :-)

This afternoon he brought in a small IKEA drawer set for on a desk. I'd spotted it in the garage along with the cube shelf thing I have in here now. I brought both with me when I moved here 20 years ago and they've been in the garage all the time. I've sanded the drawers and waxed them so they slide easy and have glued a strip down on the top that had lifted. I want to paint them grey, but will need to send off for some paint for them. They will be great for keeping my wool for felting in and other craft things. These things are all helping me get organised and rid of the clutter that is about!

The released more of the zoom sessions this morning, but all the art ones I wanted to go on had no places left by the time I had a look. I managed to get on another photography one though and one for making paper beads. Next week I already have ones on Creative Cooking, Salad Pots and Baking Bread, oh and Making a Face Mask. I told OH I was going to put a smile on his and he said he thought I'd say a 'ZIP'. :-)

Sorry you had a bad tum Frank. I would enjoy your turkey stir fry!

The trouble at the end of the close with that van chase a few months ago did turn out to be travellers from the site up the road the other side of the M1. The police swooped in the early hours a few days ago and arrested and have charged I think 6 men from there with ABH, arson and burglary in several places between them.

The Motorway has been very busy today. I haven't heard whether many of these 'gatherings' actually went ahead.

The had so much pollen on them from all of our trees it looked like net curtains when the sun shone. I shall have to clean the insides tomorrow. I knwo the one over the sink wants a good seeing to.

Watching Moby Dick now so see you all inthe morning.

What was the bread like Vera we are all dying to know.

Night night.

Morning All,

Went to bed early for me again last night just after 12am. I was so tired watching the telly my eyes kept shutting so off I went and was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

Quite cloudy here this morning and they are pale grey and moving quite fast. There certainly no blue out the front anyway. Its funny facing north because it can be sunny out the back and nasty to the front.

Mandy asked if the raainbow was at the shop but I did say in my email that it is on the primary school gate. The children are now going to make bugs and the bit next to the gate will have them on. I shall take a picture of that as it goes along if I can remember to take my camera with me.

First job of the day is to fill up my pill boxes as I am on the last day of the week and the boxes are scattered over my desk.

Must amend the asda order today too.

Hope you all had a reasonable night and are all bright and breezy today.

Sending love to Jane and a ~~~~~~~~~ <3

Morning all

Sunny but it's trying it's best to rain. I noticed yesterday one of the neighbours over the back is building either a very big shed or a summerhouse at the bottom of his garden, it's backs onto Mr Grumpy. He's not been home for months so I don't know what he's going to think when he see it and that they've cut the top of his trees off, about 6 foot, he's not going to me very happy when he see's them.

We've just had to throw away another grass, it was towards the back of the border so couldn't be seen very well from the bungalow, but it was completely white. My grasses aren't doing to well in pots which is why I think I keep losing them. OH says he's watering the garden properly but he must of missed that one.

Yes, the dandelion was massive Mandy. We have so many plants in our garden I didn't spot it until it started to flower, so that's been taken out of the pot and thrown away.

OH is starting the painting in the spare room, I insulated it years ago but some was coming off the wall, so this week I've spent a bit of time sticking it back down. I put some filler in between it as there was a bit of a gap but the gap wasn't big enough so the filler cracked, we tried painting it but the crack came back again and again, so I wall papered it with some thick lining paper. I didn't stick it down properly around the edges so it came off, that has now been stuck down properly and today it's all being painted. With a bit of luck nothing else will come unstuck and we can put the room back to rights soon. Our place looks like a bomb has hit it with furniture all over the place. I've got all my craft stuff on the spare bed so will need to put that away before it ends up dusty, then hopefully it'll start looking a bit tidier.

I'm hoping once all that's done I can give my carpets a good clean, it's warm enough for them to dry quickly..

You've reminded me Mel my windows could do with a good clean inside and out. I must make a list of everything that needs doing then I don't forget anything.

While OH is painting I'm going to take another look at my family tree. I found a few more people yesterday, so I'm getting there.

I hope everyone slept well, I've just recorded Gardeners World, I record the repeat, so will watch that then have another look at my tree.

Gillx Report 17 May 2020 09:23

Missed your post Mel, it sounds like you needed an early night, pleased to see you slept well, you'll feel much better for it today.

Our toilet has just broke, so OH's going to have to go to B&Q and buy a part to fix it. I hope he knows what he's doing, it's the only toilet we've got. It's the flush bit, it's been playing up since yesterday, so we have to lift the lid on the cistern and have a fiddle to get it to fill with water again, not a nice job :-P :-P

Morning Mel,morning all,

Little bit of cloud here but mostly lovely blue sky.

Mel I looked at the photos on my tablet and when I first look at the emails on here it some times cuts off the end of the wording so I only saw as far as rainbow then I was so busy looking at the dear little chicks I didn't read the rest .
They've made a lovely job of the rainbow are they tissue paper flowers? It certainly looks lovely and bright and I look forward to seeing what bugs they add .
I noticed when we went past the little school near us that Lewis goes to that they have pinned lots of picture shows of rainbows they have drawn.

I keep meaning to ask son if Lewis is in year one and will be going back to school ,I've lost all track of the year he is in , I think if he is then he will be the only one going back as the two girls are in years three and five ,at the moment son and DIL are not keen on them going back yet.

Just made a coffee so I might see if it's warm enough to sit out and drink it .BBL

Good morning all. Pleased you had a good night Mel I did too went to sleep about 11pm and didn't wake until about 0530am for the loo then went back to sleep for a couple of hours. back is still a bit sore but seems a lot better.

Gill I can't believe you have to make alist of things to do when you never stop working round the house. Shame about the grass wonder why they are dying. I do think they are happier in the ground than in pots though. We do have some very healthy in troughs but maybe they can spread out a bit more in there. Good luck mending the toilet, always a very fiddly job.

Does anyone watch Michael Portillo's train journeys? We have been watching him in Asia. Last night the one we had recorded was in Indonesia, Java. We find them so interesting and this one had some beautiful craft work in it. Huge puppets made out of leather that when worked (all by hand) and painted was like very delicate but strong lace. Another bit was watching people doing Batik all by hand making beautiful designs for material.

Fed the girls and the bantams were kicking up a stink so I thought someones laid an egg. When I went down and fed them and looked in the nest box there was one little egg the size of a birds egg! and all that noise for that tiny egg.

I ahve done some wshing up and washed down the back door outside and am now going to wash the other kitchen windows over the sink and inside of the dining bits window.

Oh is working on the old mower deck outside so I may wash my hair first.

Good afternoon everyone

Where has the morning gone? I didn’t have too bad a night and I was up early but I don’t seem to have done very much. I got tonight’s meal in the slow cooker, showered and made a couple of phone calls and it’s already nearly 12.30. I need to get a quick sandwich for us as Tesco are coming between 1 and 2 pm, then it will be back to all the wiping down and putting away before we have the family quiz on Zoom at 4.30.

The bread, which had been a lovely domed shape, sank in the middle but otherwise was better than I expected and we had some with cheese last night. We haven’t found what knocked our main trip out.

Gill, do you ever stop decorating? Your house must be near perfect by now. Our rooms get painted every few years if they are lucky. I hope OH gets your toilet fixed. It sounds as if it’s just the ball or the arm that’s the problem and that should be easy to fix. Btw, do give the pressure points a try next time you feel a headache coming on. A lot of people seem to find they help. I had acupuncture for several months some years ago and it did seem to help a bit.

I hope your bad tum is feeling better now Frank. Take care.

Must go or I won’t have time to get anything to eat and I am feeling peckish now.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 17 May 2020 13:04

Tesco arrived early. I’ve wiped the frozen stuff and put that in the freezer and we are going to have our sandwich before I tackle the rest of it. I’ll find out now what the bread is like on the second day.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 17 May 2020 13:12

Well, we had bacon sandwiches for breakfast, then I got the meal ready for tonight in the slow cooker, stewing steak, tinned tomatoes, mushroom carrots, cubed courgette and onions. Then veg is cauli, broccoli and asparagus (English) plus roast potatoes. After coffee I then made some fruit scones which turned out better I think. Maybe it was the new flour and Homepride not tesco's own. I have also sorted the list to send to DiL tput on our Tesco list for the 27th, another big one as there is a big gap between them.

Now I had better go and have some lunch. back is still stiff so I am being careful what I am doing.
Hope the bread was still ok Vera.
Mel what will you do with that tiny egg.

AnnG I was thinking of cooking it at big breakfast time but I left it in my shed so did'nt do it. Sometimes they are called Cocks Eggs becuse they don't have a yolk. You get them from time to time.

Did'nt get the windows done but did get my hair washed before lunch. Just have to wash up now and then I may make scones for tea as I have some nice clotted cream and strawberry jam.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 17 May 2020 15:50

Everything wiped and put away. I got everything I ordered, no substitutions, and even got the Yorkshire loose tea that we prefer. I haven’t had that for a while so I’ve been using Yorkshire tea bags but we do prefer loose tea, so I was well pleased. I also got a couple of bottles of decent wine and two boxes of Guylian chocolates so the two local friends with birthdays next week will get wine and chocolates on their doorsteps.

The bread was fine and I had some spread with pate and then I had a slice with some jam. There’s still about a third of the loaf left so I have put it out for the birds.

AnnG, your scones look good, very tasty and your baskets are really colourful and pretty. I got both your emails and got all the pictures with the first one.

It’s sunny and quite warm here now and I need to change from the jumper I’m wearing to something lighter and then I’ll get my iPad in position for our family quiz. I’ve found the best way is to balance it on top of a canteen of cutlery on the table, with two tins behind it. OH was trying to get Zoom on his laptop as that would be easier but apparently the microphone isn’t behaving itself so it’ll have to be my iPad again.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 May 2020 15:54

Oh just said don't do scones we'll have a bowl of soup to save you cooking. I'm sure you'll rather be out there up the border. How lovely was that? so now I am off up the border.

Afternoon All
Thanks Mel and AnnG for all those lovely pics. Our flowers are well behind yours. Not a Rose out here yet. They are all in good bud though so it won’t be too long .
I have my scan tomorrow afternoon and the Echo on Wednesday morning.Must remember not to eat for 3 hours before the scan tomorrow as I have to have that injection of dye. I have to admit I am feeling quite worried about the results as my gut feeling is that things might well have changed (and not for the better)It would be great to be proved wrong .
James took me out again this morning for another nice drive around more villages. It made such a lovely change and bucked me up.

Our Waitrose click and collect on Thursday was ready 4 hours early!!! so Chris picked up at 2 pm rather than 6.We seem to be getting slots easier with Tesco now as I am on the priority list. The only thing is the time slots are between 10 and 6 not that it matters as we will be in anyway.

Must check the oven .Turkey breast roast potatoes stuffing and veg.Just hope I can eat some??
