What am I like :-S :-S :-S Sorry for the confusion over the cat brooch. Thanks for letting me know my mistake AnnG.
The brooch is so cute Ann, how nice of your friend to make it for you, she's very clever. What a to do over thawing out the Turkey, I hope it's okay for you tomorrow. So you had the same problem I had with the smoke alarm. It does sound like the battery you put in isn't quite charged enough. I'm just glad it went quiet when I touched ours as there's no way I could reach to change the battery. Our ceilings are around 9 foot high so all I could do was touch it with my finger tips while standing on tip toes on a dining chair and at 6am and half asleep I now realise it was quite a daft thing for me to do being in the bungalow on my own. Thankfully I didn't fall off the chair and OH changed the battery for a new one we had when he got in from work a few hours later.
We were thinking of buying a new smoke alarm as this one is well over 10 years old, normally there is just a continual beep when the battery needs changing but this time it was one loud noise and a red flashing light which has never happened before, so buying a new one we'll at least have peace of mind. The last thing we want is a broken smoke alarm and for us not to know about it until it's to late, it's just not worth taking the risk.
You're right Vera my mum won't be told and she has so many health problems to, including a bad heart, it was only a few weeks ago she was in hospital with a suspected heart attack, but she's always been the same so I doubt she'll change her ways now. That was nice to be able to talk with your granddaughter as well as your son. I'm so pleased your DIL got a flight in the end, I bet your son will be pleased to see her home again, it's going to be a long drive there and back for him, I hope he manages to get some sleep before he picks his wife up in the morning. That was nice of you to go and buy the dog food for your daughter's poorly dog, at least she won't worry so much now. It sounds like you were very sensible in the way you bought it.
Pleased to see you have Jane's email photo's now Mel, I couldn't see them myself at first, but then clicked on original message and there they were. That's never happened before.
Well, I've almost finished drying the washing, just my very big fluffy dressing gown to finish off, so I can finally run a bath, I was going to run the bath earlier thinking I could peg my washing out, but because of the fire someone had I ended up using the bathroom radiator to dry some clothes, I had OH uniform to do as well as a few other bits and bobs so I'll be looking forward to a nice soak soon. The washing from then can wait for now, I'm not doing anymore tonight.
I'm absolutely shattered as I have hardly had five minutes to sit down, so I think an early night is on the cards. OH had to wake me up this morning as I was spread right across the bed and he couldn't get in, he's just asked me if I was comfortable sleeping last night, now I know why I had such a good nights sleep lol ;-) ;-)

My poor dil’s saga goes on and on. She got to the airport early and went to check in and was told she wasn’t booked on the flight! She produced the email they had sent her which clearly said she had a confirmed booking. Panic stations all round. The check in staff had to ring supervisors who had to call managers etc. etc. While all this was going on dil receives a text saying she has been booked on a flight to New York on 24th and has an 8 hour layover there before flying on to London. She stood her ground as she had the email confirming she was on tonight’s flight. While they were still sorting it out she managed to contact son so he ended up sitting in a service area not knowing whether to continue on to Gatwick or drive back to Yorkshire. Eventually they got her on tonight’s plane but probably bounced some other poor soul off. I won’t be happy till I know she is actually in the air which will be about 11.30 pm. She’s due to land at Gatwick around 8 am tomorrow. What a to-do.

Morning all,
Another lovely bright morning here and not much breeze.
I woke up this morning and looked out the window towards the big girls and there was a squirrel digging about in the grass by oh's trailer and a bit further along there were three or four young rabbits gamboling around. Then Phil pheasent walked round from the little wood and they all shot under a pile of fence post fromt he old chicken run.

Morning all
Another bright and sunny morning, OH is putting up the new smoke alarm.
I hope your DIL is on her way home with your son now Vera. Like you said what a to-do. You're probably right and they had to take some poor person off the flight for her to have the seat. Good on her for holding her ground, after all the seat was promised to her in the first place.
Just had a laugh with OH, I've got my glasses on so I can't see far away, OH picked up the box the smoke alarm was in at the same time I was asking him if he got my meds from the Chemist, I thought the big box was my meds, silly me. Talk about stock pilling, if it had of been my meds box I would of had enough to last me a year lol :-D :-D :-D
I've just read your post on another thread AnnG, the one of the lyric's to the tune of "I will survive" I'm going to put it on here with it being so funny, I hope you don't mind. I think it's brilliant and it made OH and I laugh. Just what we all need right now.
Here it is folks
To the tune of I will survive! All together now ??????
At 1st I was afraid, I was petrified, There was no loo roll down at Aldi and I nearly cried. Oh I spent so many nights just thinking how you did me wrong, I used to wipe, And now I’m forced to just drip dry !
No anti-bac ! No bloody soap, and if you think you’re buying pasta well you’ve got no bloody hope ! I would have bought that box of eggs, I would have rationed out my bread, If I’d have known for just one second everyone would lose their head !
Go on now go, walk out the door ! All you bloody stockpilers, You are not welcome any more ! Weren’t you the ones who just bought all the sodding beans ? You selfish gits ! I hope you spill them down your jeans !
Oh no not I, I won’t panic buy! Oh as long as I have alcohol, I know I’ll stay alive, Though I can’t buy my usual cheese, This will not bring me to my knees And I’ll survive, I will survive, hey, hey !
It took all the strength I had not to fall apart, There was just apples and 1 carrot in my shopping cart, And I spent hours walking round just feeling sorry for myself, The empty store, with boxes strewn across the floor
And you’ll see me, somebody who, Cannot buy anything she came for, and it’s all down to fecking you And frickin Reg from down the road is such a selfish blimmin git Because he stockpiled all the loo roll so nobody else can have a s@*t !
(x2) Go on now go, walk out the door ! All you bloody stockpilers, You are not welcome any more! Weren’t you ones who just bought all the sodding cakes Can’t you make a crumble, Do you people not know how to bake ?
Oh no not I, I won’t panic buy ! Oh as long as I have alcohol, I know I’ll stay alive, Though I can’t buy my usual cheese This will not bring me to my knees And I’ll survive, I will survive !
I know you didn't write it, but thanks for posting it. I was so upset yesterday with not seeing Sandra, to wake up and see this really cheered me up. :-D :-D :-D

Morning All,
Yes another lovely day Mel! I was thinking this morning how the dogs and wildlife haven't a care about what is going on and you have them enjoying the spring at your place.
Gill I had noticed looking on line about our smoke alarm that you should renew them after a while. Ours is 20 years old!!! :-0 I've made a note to get a new one when life is more normal again. I had to give up on Tulips because of the squirrels Gill. They must find them extra tasty. lol.
Yes the poets and cartoonists are having a field day just now and that was a brilliant card your son got for you Jane!! :-D :-D
We took the car in as planned and I couldn't believe the amount of cars speeding way over the limit, just because there are less about. Don't they think the NHS have enough to do without them risking extra accidents? Also the people queuing at bus stops shoulder to shoulder instead of well apart. We then popped in the garden centre and I got some freezer bags and bin liners, weed killer and beetroot seeds (the long ones Mel) and some fast growing round carrots for some tubs. We got some provisions and dropped our prescriptions in at the surgery last, Well you should have seen the queue at the pharmacy next door!!!!! It went all the way across the length of the car park, but at least people were leaving space between each other.
A great bit of news this morning as I had an email from our holiday booking to say the site and Lodges have closed for the foreseeable future. We will be offered alternative dates in the future so we won't lose our £700+ after all. :-D :-D :-D
I hope your daughter is on english soil again now Vera. What a do and a worry as you said. I hadn't thought about pets with special diet needs either.
It's so nice out there we are doing some more in the garden this afternoon.......fresh air and exercise.
I have washed 2 old pillows we were chucking out but I can save the stuffing in them to use for crafts. It will save landfill and buying some.
The Turkey still had lumps of ice inside and was so frozen I couldn't prise the giblets out this morning, so it is back in the fridge bottom again to carry on thawing.......for tomorrow's lunch now? :-S

Good afternoon all.
you are brave Annx still going into retail places. We are hoping to get an order delivered from our local garden sentre. It will cost £5 but will be worth it to get compost, fertilizer growbags etc. Waiting for them to phone back but not holding my breath they are very busy as they sent out emails. Good idea to wash the pillows for stuffing, we have surplus pillow but I have kept them around the immersion heater in the airing cupboard as they provide insulation.
Mel you are so lucky with all the wild life although I think I would find it frustrating that they eat the plants. Sitting out in the garden with coffee yesterday we did see a butterfly and a bumble bee which is a start. Oh and we did have the hedgehog in our compost but that has gone again now.
Frank, what did you press to lose the post? Are you on a laptop? When I used to use one I found it easy to make it do what I didn't want it to, that is why I prefer a desk top.
Jane, loved your card, very apt!
Gill, pleased that the poem gave you a laugh, it is very clever isn't it?
Vera please do let us know if your DiL has landed safely in UK. what a palaver and so frustrating for her.

Just a quick post for now. Dil rang me about 10 this morning to say they were on their way back to Yorkshire. She sounded exhausted. I was horrified at the vague advice she was given at Gatwick. Just self isolate for about 7 days. Luckily she is sensible and, apart from the family in the house with her, will keep herself out of the way for longer than that.
Currently waiting for British Gas to call. Dithered before calling them in as we are trying to abide by the rules but we have water pouring from an outside pipe and can't leave it like that for several weeks or even months. I will stay shut in a different room and OH will stand as far away from him as possible and after he has gone everything will be wiped down. One thing after another isn't it?

Love the card Jane, I wonder how many there are like that now.
Yes the poem was funny AnnG, although the swearing wasn't, but if you can get your head around that it's quite amusing. I've still got the tune stuck in my head now. lol :-D
You're not having much luck with thawing your Turkey Ann, I hope it's okay for tomorrow or you might end up having to throw it out. Do be careful going out, I'm sure the garden centre's will deliver to you and it would be safer. Pleased you didn't lose your money on your holiday in the end, that must be a relief £700+ would of been a lot of money to lose.
The smoke alarm we've got now is a bit smaller than the old one so the ceiling might need painting, if we touch it up I think it'll show up more, it's only a small hall so won't take OH long to do, (I can't reach) and we already have some paint, so it won't cost us anything.
I've only been out three times this year and two of those were to the doctors, once last month and the second two weeks later on 3rd of this month. I also nipped to my mum's in February but haven't been back there since with having a cough. Mind you mum keeps going out anyway so I doubt it would of made any difference. We're still keeping our distance from mum though as we don't want her to pass anything onto us.
OH told me that they are taking all the staff's temperatures now and if they are high they are being told to self isolate. They gave the staff the option to stay away if they wanted, OH said he'd stay, as did most of the staff. One nurse left but she has been having chemo so no one said anything, although the boss had to fill in her night shift and was shouting at everyone, including OH.
Apparently some gloves and plastic aprons had been left outside one of the residence's room and OH happened to be the one she saw first so shouted at him to put it away. Later, after speaking to the doctor, it was found out that they were suppose to be there, so OH had to put them back. It wasn't on OH's floor but he had noticed it when he past the room to get to his floor.
The boss came back to him later and apologised, OH said it was okay. Everyone is under so much stress they're all a bit cranky. He said he's never known a place like it for arguments, so he keeps his head down and tries not to get involved. Apparently the boss had just done a day shift before she was forced into doing the night shift, so she was probably tired......still it's no excuse for being rude is it?

Afternoon all,
Lovely bright sunny day got all the bedding blowing away on the line . Spoke to DIL this morning ,the children are all getting logged in to get their school work and had started doing some of the work being given ,DIL said they had all wanted to get on the computer at the same time ,it's a novelty at the moment i bet by the end of the week they won't be quite so keen :-D she said they hadn't got round to doing the PE yet .
I loved the card Jane :-D James bought a good one there :-D
Ann that turkey's not keen on getting thawed out is he :-D it's surprising how long they take to thaw in the fridge ,i usually leave mine out of the fridge in the cool over night and then pop it in the fridge to finish thawing . I hope you both enjoy it when you do get to eat it . That's good you won't lose your holiday money and can re book with them later in the year .
Gill our smoke alarm kept beeping at night a few weeks ago ,we thought it was the one on the landing so Colin took the battery out then blow me we heard the bleep again the next night so it wasn't the top one it was the one in the hall . We have decided to get a new one for up stairs when we can get out as that is getting old and we'll put new batteries in both . That's not very nice the boss shouting at OH like that when it was nothing to do with him ,sounds as if the stress of this Virus is getting to everyone .
Vera that's good news your DIL is now back home ,they will both be glad of a good nights sleep . Hope the pipe doesn't take to long to sort out .
AnnG glad the cement problem got sorted out in the end . That's a good idea having the delivery from the garden centre if you can . I loved the poem but will have that tune in my head for the rest of the day :-D

Afteroon Everyone
What a long morning I had at the hospital. From 9.30 until 1 :-S Half an hour was spent just waiting to collect a prescription. I have Chemo tomorrow ,then back for a Xmatch Blood test on Wednesday before I have to have a blood transfusion on Thursday !!!! So that will be 4 days in a row being there. Hopefully after the blood I might feel quite so lightheaded and dizzy all the time.
Vera I am so glad dil is home again. What a performance she had :-S Fingers crossed to British Gas can sort out the problem. Our boiler didnt come on again this morning :-S
I did enjoy my little outing yesterday with James.I thought it was really nice of him to suggest we did that.Blatherwyke is just a little Hamlet really but so picturesque wit ha lovely old bridgeI think built first back in the 1600s.
Lovely Cream tea and Ploughmans then Ann :-D. That was a lovely gift. I have had the cream tea before from Cornwall.I think it was a gift from Hannah a couple of years ago.
Gill I think everyone is on a short fuse at the moment in the work places.I could see the strain this morning.Lots of huffing and puffing from some of the nurses.I think they were run off their feet. Clinic seemed to be spread over a larger area today which made a lot of extra walking for them. No partners were allowed in with us patients .So I was glad I told Chris just to drop me off and go home until I rang him .
I loved the little cat brooch Ann. Looked a bit like my Thomas :-D Vera that looked a lovely place to have your walk :-D Nice open space. I better go and see what Chris is doing in the garden and get myself a bit of fresh air :-D

So your next four days are planned out Jane ,hope all goes OK for you .
We have been sitting out in the sunshine topping up on our vitamin D and enjoying a nice cup of tea , Max has been laying in the sun too you should see him laying there with his paws crossed sniffing the air ,it's just so quiet out there though we can hardly hear any traffic noise from the bypass or the town and it does seem strange not hearing the school children go past.

I'm so pleased that you DIL is back on england's ground now Vera. She sounds a senible person to wait a couple of week to be sure she can't infect anyone. Hope your leak can be sorted very soon.
Good about your holiday Ann at least you know the people there and can be sure they will book you in as soon as they can.
So Mandy a cue for the pc this morning. As you say the novelty will wear off soon. How is DIL coping with having them all at home?
I loved the card James sent you Jane. Its the kind of thing oh would send me.
Been fafffing around today. I did sweep a load of cobwebs down now the suns shining I can see them.
Went up the shop to collect my rolls and get a few bits this morning and forgot oh's yogurts again!!!! I did buy some of their nice scones and two lots of sausages we like from a local sausage maker near Hatherleigh and a small bit of rump steak and some courgettes and ciggies for oh and ordered some for later in the week as Keith was about to put his order in so he should be ok for two weeks now.
Oh is out on the mower and I think I may clean the bedroom while he is out of the way I can have the hoover going as long as I like instead of doing it quickly.

Pleased to see your DIL is back in the UK now Vera. Good idea to self isolate for longer than the 7 days, not much help from the airport though as I'm sure she would of stayed in doors anyway. Is your pipe fixed now, it sounds like the overflow from the tank in the loft, but like you said you can't have it dripping for months on end.
It sounds like you're going to have a busy week at the hospital Jane. I hope the blood transfusion works and you feel less dizzy afterwards. Yes, everywhere seems to be short staffed with a lot of care workers, NHS staff off, so all the other staff are having to fill in the gaps, which is very tiring. OH said he's glad he's back on days now as the two weeks he did of nights was quite exhausting, he's still helping where he can though and is back in work (days) tomorrow to help out, it was suppose to be his day off, but like he said you have to all pull together and help out where you can at the moment.
So the children are keen to do their school work Mandy, like you said though it's a novelty, I'm sure they won't be keen for to long. We all seem to be having problems with our smoke alarms, I hope yours has stopped beeping now. Why is it they always beep in the night.
Our bin wasn't emptied today, it's the food one and has been in the sun for hours, if it's not emptied soon it's going to smell. I had a look on the council website and they've said they are going make food bins a priority over the recycling bin, but so far nothing has happened. The website hasn't been updated with the bin information for a few days.
I noticed they are thinking of putting a curfew in place in London soon to stop people gathering together. Not sure how they're going to implement that in such a big city though.

Mel I have tried to get a photo of Max but when I get up to take it he gets up too . It's early days with the children but I bought them a whole load of stickers, paper, card, word search, colouring books and other bits from the works which I was going to give them for the easter holidays so they had them early to keep them amused . They have sent me photos today of some of the things they have coloured in and made ,I speak to them on my tablet it's called Kick and they can send me pictures on it so I can see what they have done .
Gill there was so many people in Wells at the weekend they were putting tape strips across the pavement for people to queue for the chip shop because they were standing to close. Maybe they need to have a lock down for the weekends to start with when there's more people about . Did you see all the people crammed onto the tube !!!!

If it hadn't been for the car going in and needing the smoke alarm battery and to drop off prescriptions we wouldn't have gone out and we only went to a tiny garden centre that we knew sold batteries and food like milk and bread. We won't be going anywhere near a supermarket and will order on line. This year the garden is going to manage with a few seeds and weedkiller for the gravel, so no need for deliveries although we've had emails to say they will deliver. I still may have more unused seeds at home as well. If OH hadn't had to do a letter to go with his prescription we could have ordered them on line which we will do in future. We sanitised our hands before leaving home and after leaving the garden centre and as soon as we were home we washed our hands. I even left all the inside doors open so we needn't touch anything en route to the sink. The staff in shops don't seem to be attempting social distancing though. The garage were good as OH said they had put a barrier up to stop customers getting too close to their staff and being there for 8.00am no other customers were there yet.
That is another good use for old pillows AnnG. Our local dogs' home used to take them but I'm not sure they do anymore. I know they don't take duvets now.
Vera, it does seem to be one thing after another for you, but those were sensible precautions. I hope the boiler is fixed now and that is good news to have heard your DIL was on her way home at last.
I see we've had instructions from the council this morning about collections and how to dispose of infected rubbish. OH couldn't believe that just as we have bought a garden waste bin, they may not be able to collect them every time!! :-S
That is so annoying when you lose a post like that Frank! I can't use a laptop unless I use a wireless mouse with it. Those little swipe bits are so imprecise it takes 3 times as long to do anything. I use a tablet but don't like that for the same reason.
We are enjoying Belgravia but will keep schtum in case some haven't watched recordings of it yet.
