Evening All,
Breezy and Chilly here with a bit of rain but not much.
Vera I hope your tum is ok now. Nothing worse than when your 'white friend' is also your 'best friend!' You had a bad day and now you have some sad days too. Roll on March eh! I wonder if the filter might be a bit blocked and have caused the dishwasher to flood? Not a nice job clearing all the mess up though. I would hate to be without mine now.
Mel that sounds a good idea to reduce some of the work by selling the field and some of your land before it becomes too hard to look after it all. You will still have your lovely garden plus a bit of extra dosh which is always handy and you can stay where you are. :-) I hope your 'baking' has turned out ok.
AnnG we have an old arbour in the corner at the top of the garden and that stands on slate chippings, but the roof slats are barely hanging on now so it needs replacing with another of some sort really. It is the shadiest spot of the garden on a hot day so a good place for it. The one on the slate slabs is just close to the patio and has a dome top and is handy to sit and have a cuppa.
I've never been to Southend as we hardly went anywhere when I was a child, just one holiday and a few local daytrips that I can remember. The first time I was amazed by lights was when I went with my first husband to Blackpool to see the lights. We went on a coach trip to avoid crawling in the traffic and it rained a bit, which wasn't ideal, but I had never seen anything like it before.
Gill thanks for reminding me that I need to change the bed tomorrow. It comes round so quickly. I need to put the washer on too for another load.
We were going to see 'Emma' at the cinema tomorrow, which is the discount day, but it isn't on till the afternoon which clashes with something else OH is doing, so we are hoping to go on Wednesday instead as there is a showing at about 11.00am which will suit us better. I need to be up early tomorrow anyway as it is window cleaner day.
OH checked our lottery ticket today and we'd won £30!! It's the most we've ever won so was a nice surprise.
Frank you are not winning me over to seafood are you!! :-0 I hope the carvery has been good. I thought you weren't going to the 70th birthday bash as well. It will be good if you get to do a bit of visiting at the same time though.
I hope you have a good sleep Jane with your cosy hot water bottle.....I love them! A trip to Rushden Lakes for some shopping tomorrow sounds good. They are all getting in new ranges of clothes now. Lovely pic of you with Hannah at Lunch!
I had a good sleep again last night so think I will have an early night again. :-)

<3 <3 <3 <3 HAAPPY BIRTHDAY VERA <3 <3 <3 <3 Have a wonderful day whatever the weather is like and let T wait on you. <3 <3
Morning Jane and all,
The wind dropped last night before I went to bed but oh had told me it would be blowing again from 5 am so no recykling went out again for todays collectio0n. Its no good putting it up there as it just get blown up the road. If it dos'nt it does once its empty. I lost my last box like that as I used to have two which was good buy only down to one now. I save up the paper and then if it is a bit windy they go on top which stops it all blowing away but when they empty it they don't always put it back upside down and in the place I leave it by Les's cottage in a sheltered spot.
Moan over so how are all the knees, backs and any other aching joint this morning. My knees were playing up yesterday and I have been using my hot wheat monkey on them every night but they decided it was time to give me gyp.
Must get up the shop for my loaf and to pay what I owe from yesterday.

Vera i hope your tummy is better today and your back so you can enjoy your day ,have you had lots of lovely presents and cards .
Mel i love all the clay things you have cooked ,the one with the little toadstools is really pretty ,Katie went ohhhh when she saw it ,that was her favourite one too .
Jane what a lovely photo of you both :-D one to keep , you are looking really well and i love the top your wearing , the lunch must have been good if you've booked to go again . Not a very nice day to go out but once your in the shopping centre you'll be alright ,is it more retail therapy :-D
Children all back to school today ,they love coming and we love having them but we're always tired after as they want to keep doing things ,but as i said to Colin it won't be long before they will be off with their friends when they are older and won't want to be with us as much so we make the most of it now .
Well done Ann on your win :-D we gave up on the lottery a few years ago ,some times i buy the odd scratch card and we always buy them at christmas so everyone has one each at the dinner table .
I think we should have this rain until this afternoon but we're not going out at the moment i'm sitting with my leg up resting my knee it's been a bit painful the last couple of days .

Good morning all.
Happy birthday Vera have a lovely day even if the weather is bad.
New mattress just arrived. Luckily we had got everything ready early as they were supposed to be here between 12.30 and 2.30. they did phone though to check. Now we have to take the memory foam topper to the tip. Not easy as it is very heavy, managed to roll and tie it so far.
Before they came we managed to get the mattress off our bed into the front room and the one off that bed was the one they took away. that was hard work. However the two who came ran up and down the stairs with the mattresses. At least we don't have that to dispose of. Hopefully the topper will go easily into my car. Will take two of us though I think. And it is raining again and more floods anticipated so hope the tip is not flooded.
Mandy we guessed you were probably busy with the children. (one or other). I am sure you enjoyed it even if tiring.
Jane enjoy your retail therapy.
Horrible day here, very wet so don't look forward to a tip trip. :-(
Annx the seating area we are going to redo will have slate slabs across the front and the seat will be on slate chippings, it is cheaper to do it that way.

Will bbl but have just come on quickly to say thank you all for your birthday wishes and lovely cards. They are much appreciated. Gill, when you are next in contact with Sandra will you thank her for my lovely card please. Tell her I love butterflies so was really pleased to see them on the card, which has pride of place with Bob’s right by where I usually sit.
Mel, I would love T to spoil me if AnninG will lend him to me :-). My fella’s a B (take that how you will ;-))

Afternoon all, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY VERA" I hope you are having a nice day.
We woke to RAIN and that horrible blustery wind. The rain has stopped but the wind is persistent.!!!
Slept like a log again last night. In fact after going to the loo at 7.00 am I dropped off again until 10.30. When I came into the lounge, Ros said "GOOD AFTERNOON" I had my COTs, but didn't fancy breakfast. But, had toast and pate, with a coffee at 1.00 pm.
Roast leg of lamb tonight. With Roasties, Runners, peas and carrots, Cauli. and Broc. with Cheese sauce. Won't start dinner till late, as we are both full from lunch.
Glad to hear you with aches and pains are feeling alright, and all managing in this horrible weather.
I see there are still a lot of floods about, I hope you are all safe and sound. xxx
I see WEST HAM are playing LIVERPOOL tonight, so another lose on the cards. :-\ :-\ :-\ See you later. xxx

Afternoon all
<3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY VERA, HAVE A GREAT DAY <3 <3 <3
It's blowing a hooley here today and the garden was covered in rain water, it must of rained really badly in the night. Thankfully it's finally starting to drain away, I hope we don't have to much more rain as it'll have no where to drain as the garden it to wet already.
Another busy day for me, yet more washing, I blame OH, he's always changing his clothes. At least he's started his new job now so hopefully there won't be as much washing to do from now on :-) :-)
There should of been three people at the induction today but only OH turned up, the boss wasn't very happy with the other's and called them time wasters. She was pleased to see OH though as she said she would of been sitting around doing nothing for a few hours as she had booked the time to do the induction for 3 people. Luckily for OH he wasn't there as long as he thought he would be with there only being him. It was nice to see him home two hours earlier than expected, although he did make me jump.
I'm pleased you liked your birthday card Vera and will let Sandra know next time I speak with her. She made cards for everyone, but I don't know where they are yet, I will have to ask her if she has them, if not and they can't be found I'm sorry but will send you all lovely cards from the shop, as I don't make cards, I don't have anything to make them with. I hope if you went out for your birthday your tum and back didn't play up and you had a lovely day.
Did you do your bedding today Ann? Glad I could be of assistance lol ;-) ;-) What a lovely surprise winning £30 on the lotto. I hope you carry on having good night sleep's I had a good night last night for a change and feel much better for it today. I've never been to Southend either, but did look up the gardens your were all talking about with the lights, I envy you all, I would of loved to have seen it, but it looks like I was born to late :-(
So you've decided to go to the 70th birthday party after all Frank and you're visiting your sister and SIL to. Sorry to hear about the carvery, lets hope you don't end up like that again. Good news about your eyes and not having to see the doctor, I should imagine you're quite pleased with that.
What a lovely photo of you and Hannah, Jane, you're looking well.
It seems you were right AnnG and Mel's land is horticultural I doubt we'd of been able to afford anywhere as nice as there on our budget as it's not just the land to pay for it's the build to. It's a nice dream to have though. Yes, I'm just as busy as I ever was which is good as it fills in the hours when I'm on my own. OH starts his job properly tomorrow and they don't want him to work nights for a couple of weeks until he's settled in, so that's good, I should be used to being on my own by then, although being on my own at night might take some getting used to, but needs must, at least we don't have the worry about paying our bills now.
It sounds like you all had fun with the girls there Mandy, if a bit exhausting for your both, but like you said you need to make the most of it now before they grow up and want to spend all their time with their friends. At least you'll know they have good memories, doing lots of fun things with you both, which is something you can all treasure.
What a shock that must of been when the lady in the shop mentioned the two old pound coins Mel, can you still take them to the bank and swap them for new ones? I know you can do it when the new ones come out, but I don't know how long that goes on for. Maybe the fish and chip man didn't realise himself, good to mention it to him though as someone else might have given them to him, that way he can keep a look out himself. Thanks for letting us know about the back in time programme, I've put it on the planner, we like programmes like that.

It’s good you managed to sort your mattresses out AnnG. I hope you get a good night’s sleep on the new one. It might take a night or two to get used to the difference.
You had a long sleep Frank. You must have needed it and probably feel a lot better for it.
The same goes for you Gill. A decent sleep at night makes all the difference doesn’t it. Good luck to your OH in his job. He has started well by turning up for the induction. He will have earned himself a gold star for that. Can you believe the other two? Why would you apply for, and accept, a job if you can’t even be bothered to go to the induction?
Nice to have a little win Ann. Don’t spend it all at once :-)
Children are exhausting aren’t they Mandy but you won’t regret spending time with them. As they get older they develop other interests and are out and about with their friends but, even if you don’t see so much of them, you’ll still have a good relationship with them. At least that’s my experience.
Did you eventually get to the shop Mel?
I hope you enjoyed your shopping today Jane in spite of the weather. That is a smashing photo of you and Hannah, definitely one for the family album. I’m glad you enjoyed your meal.
My back is a bit better today and my tum is sort of OK but I don’t fancy much to eat yet. OH offered to take me out somewhere today. Last year we went to Anglesey Abbey but it’s not been the weather for a trip like that. He also offered to book a table for dinner at one of two upmarket places locally but, with having to be careful of my broken tooth and not having much appetite at the moment, I thought it would be a waste of money. So it’s been a quiet day in. Still he won lots of brownie points with his present. He bought me 3 jumpers and a cardi and they are quite nice styles and they fit :-D. I do tend to be a chilly mortal and these are all quite lightweight but OK with a jacket for winter or on their own for a summer evening or early autumn.
There were a couple of things I have been meaning to tell you but keep forgetting. First we got a renewal quote for our travel insurance. I expected it to have gone right up in price as we are both a year older and as OH is over 80 his bit increases every year AND we had a big claim last year. However they have included the Piriformis Syndrome that OH had last year as a declared medical condition and the price has only gone up by £11 on last year. We haven’t booked any holiday yet but are going to take the insurance anyway so we are both covered for a year’s European travel from 20th March.
i was also going to tell you about something else as I thought it was so nice. I have a friend who has a couple of cats and they are particularly important to her as she lives alone, never having married nor had children. She recently had to have one put to sleep. About a week later she received a handwritten card in the post from the vets with a lovely message of condolence and enclosing a packet of forget-me-not seeds to sow in his memory. Wasn’t that a nice gesture?
OH has just asked if I could fancy a birthday glass of wine while he sorts out our dinner so I am now going to enjoy that. He’s spoiling me so much today that he might even allow me control of the remote tonight ;-)

Evening Everyone,
<3 <3 :-) :-) HAPPY BIRTHDAY VERA :-) :-) <3 <3 I had to chuckle at you having a 'B'. I hope your back hasn't been one too today and has eased up a bit again now! :-)
AnnG, my OH is always most obliging and helpful to other ladies too, whereas he seems to think I am Superwoman!! To other people he adopts the royal 'We' when talking about our garden and what we've done, whereas it was mostly 'Me'.
Gill it sounds like your OH has made a good first impression with at least turning up! They are good to ease him in gently too till he gets used to it. I'm sure you will get used to his working pattern after a few weeks. If you find you worry about the nights, you could have a night light in the hall. When I lived on my own I sometimes wedged the front door with a chair, but that wouldn't help your OH get in when he got home! :-) What will you be able to make with some of your craft kits you found? The bed changing is happening tomorrow now as I will have more time with OH being out all morning and again later.
It sounds like my dodgy knees have some friends just now. :-) Mine were a bit sore after yesterday's cycling, so I gave it a miss today as I was going to have a look around the big Asda store down at the retail park which would be enough for them. I just got a few bits and bobs, Sharpie pens, jotter pad and a few groceries and toiletries.
OH said today's local paper said 3 men had been shot in the incident up the road not 2 and a man in his 20s that lived in the city has been charged with attempted murder.
Mandy, that's it isn't it, you have to enjoy them while you can as they grow up so fast! At least when they go home you can rest up, as can Max!
Frank I would enjoy your lamb and veg dinner! I slept well last night too and the window cleaner didn't come with it raining so I lay in for a while. Let's hope we can make it a habit.
