"HAPPY NEW YEAR" to all my DEAR LADIES, Will, and David, if you look in.
We had a pleasant time at the Village Hall last night, The food was very good. A pork casserole ,jacket potato, with a selection of Salad. Chocolate Cake, and Cheese board. All was fine, chatting away round our table of eight. THEN they started the DISCO, which was my time to leave, I wanted to walk home, as it isn't far, but Ros wouldn't let me. She dropped me off and went back until 11.45.
We had "BIGGLES" for the night, as he is scared of FIREWORKS. He's been in the wars. He had/has an infection in one of his claws, which the VET removed yesterday. So he has "A LIGHTSHADE" over his head, We have put a sock over his paw, so he can put his foot to the floor.
Have been thinking of our JANE, and sending her and the Family lots of love, and hope things get better for them all in 2020. That doesn't mean I don't think of all you others, and wish you HEALTH, HAPPINESS, for the coming year. PLEASE, all take care of yourselves and enjoy 2020. xxxxx

<3 <3 HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FRIENDS HOPE 2020 IS GOOD TO YOU ALL <3 <3
Hope all went well with your Chemo yesterday Jane and you're not feeling to unwell today. I meant to ask how did Hannah get on with her interviews, did she get a job? Yes we are all good friends and love you to.
Shops aren't really a place to play AnnG, so I can see why you were upset.
I was sick most of yesterday so couldn't make it on here, I ended up with a migraine in the end so thought it best to keep away from the computer screen. I'm still feeling a bit queasy today but not as bad, so hopefully what ever it is will be gone soon.

Good morning all and to those who were not around at midnight a Happy new year. We were late up this morning and are a bit tired, otherwise fine and OH is out cutting back more things in the garden.
Gill you really should see your GP to find out why you are so often unwell, it doesn't seem normal to me. sorry you were unwell again yesterday and hope the rest of the New year will see an improvement in your health.
Mel, I think most of us will have slacked off the HW since the decorations have been up. we have prawn curry for tonight. Last night we had roast duck legs, chips and sweet corn with a red and black currant sauce. It was very nice too.
We didn't see Annx yesterday so hope all is OK there.
Frank pleased that your meal was nice last night, don't blame you for swerving the disco. Ros has more stamina than all of us put together. Aaawe poor biggles.

Well so far today I have done nothing except for Toast for Breakfast and a couple of slices of Pizza for lunch.
We did sit and watch "OLIVER" Ros said she could watch that film over and over, and never get bored.
I have been known to have WORDS with these Mothers who have no control of their children. They seem to think it's perfectly normal for Children to run riot in the supermarket.
Dull, misty day here also Mel, I think it could be Country wide. I have been looking at other venue for a meal this evening, but Ros said as you have booked, don't go looking elsewhere. We seemed to have been to so many local eateries, that I will have to start looking further afield in the future.
Even after a very good nights sleep, I am feeling a doze coming on. That's the trouble with having nothing to do. Lazy old begger I hear you say. lol lol
I will get showered and shaved later, and get ready for our evening out. The table is booked for 7.00 pm, so I expect we will eat around 7.30/8.00 pm. It will give us a chance to have a drink and chat before eating.
While looking for my KINDLE I have found a new one that Ros got on a BUY ONE get one free. So that's on charge, asa back up to mine, when I find it. My I pad has loads of books on it,so after I have finished the book, Pam bought me for my Birthday I will have to start getting back to all my reading.
I am not sure but I think it's tomorrow or Friday that I have to go back to the DENTAL TECHNICIAN, for either more impressions, or a first fitting on the NEW GNASHERS. I will be walking around grinning like the CHESHIRE CAT when I get my new ones. I just can't wait.
Have a peaceful afternoon and evening, and take care of yourselves. xxxx

Frank you had better check your appointment, you don't want to miss it.
I have been mainly doing admin jobs. sorted the Credit card for paying, no problems there. Need to check the bank accounts next when I have finished making up the two calendars. With all the U3A stuff the calendars soon get filled up. Well plus three holidays already arranged.

Afternoon All,
<3 <3 <3 A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL <3 <3 <3 XXX I hope it will be a positive and enjoyable one for us. :-) I tried to send a New Year message after midnight but my tablet turns hearts into question marks so I gave up!
We are ok, but OH has a bad back with carrying bags and helping me and my knees haven't liked the extra walking and standing this last week! :-S Not surprising and after saying standing in the cold had affected his back, he has still managed to go to a match this afternoon, his 3rd one in a week. He said he wouldn't go if I wanted when he saw my eyebrows go up, but he doesn't bother what I do, so off he went with promises of what he will get on with tomorrow which sounds impressive! lol
Poor Biggles with a poorly paw Frank. I hope it soon heals. I hope your meal is nice tonight as places should be back to normal today. I have recorded Oliver as it's always a treat to watch Ron Moody do his dance as Fagin. Just be careful and try not to trip again. You',ll soon have the Colgate ring of confidence with your new teeth.......remember that advert on the telly.
AnnG Children in supermarkets and restaurants are a menace treating them as a playground. When I was shuffling around after a hysterectomy one knocked a big display advert over that nearly sent me flying. The parent didn't even apologise and had that simpering smile that expected you to accept it as 'normal'. Once at one of the carveries which has designated areas for families, some ignored all the signs and sat in the adults only area. They tried to say their child was good when he had already run off into the bar area and they kicked chair over when they were made to move. I think we have more feral parents bringing up feral children with no boundaries nowadays.
You poor thing Gill being sick yesterday and ending up with a migraine. Like AnnG I think you seem to be succumbing to everything that's going lately and it might be worth mentioning it to your doctor. Maybe he can give you something to boost your immune system or do blood tests to see if you are lacking something. <3 <3
Mel no HW has been done here either except for me cleaning the sink and switching the oven on to clean itself!! I have just put washing on, despite all those superstitions about washing on New Year's Day!! Could you use those cabachons to stick on some Christmas cards like the one my friend had? It made it nice and sparkly. About the loose plastic, it can be recycled by specialist places, but not by local authorities as it jams up the bin lorry machinery and the machinery at their depots.
Did anyone see the programme about the Lynx they were trying to return to the wild? We thought it was wonderful and they had such beautiful kittens! It was in 2 parts.
Well I'm going under the desk next! I need to find or get a box to put some picture frames and my art pads in that are under there, but may use one that has something else in at the moment or I can get one tomorrow from the garden centre down the road. If things are in boxes it will be easier to pull them out to find things and they will stay where I put them instead of falling down. :-)

I think this piece of beef was the best we've had for a while ,it was so tender after a nice slow cook ,son went home with some slices for sandwiches tomorrow .
Tomorrow we're taking the outside lights down as it should be a dry day and we can get them down before we have rain and they get wet . The inside tree we'll do later in the week, every where will look so bare ,but like you Mel i haven't done much cleaning this past week so it will be good when the decorations get put away so i can have a good clean.

I must admit I am getting fed up of catching every bug going. I'm wondering if my immune system isn't very good. My mum came to visit the other day and said her friend wasn't very well and thinks I've got the same bug now. I'm always tired to, but keep thinking it's to do with the menopause so didn't want to bother the doctor. Maybe I should go and have a check up, just to make sure it's nothing else.
Yes Ann, I watched the Lynx programme and at one point thought the male one, who had been kept as a pet wouldn't make it out of the first place he was put in. I felt a little sad when he did make it as I wasn't sure how he would get on. I hope he was okay in the end. Sandra and I loved the kittens, but was a bit concerned when their mother walked off and left them in the rain, until we realised she was just going to look for somewhere more suitable and dry for them all. Did you watch the snow animals, that was also a good programme?

Here is the post that you should have had earlier:
<3 <3 <3A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL <3 <3 <3 Here’s raising a glass to health, happiness and continued friendship in 2020.
Today started off very foggy but cleared by mid-morning and it has been clear and dry ever since. It is quite cold. Yesterday we went to a couple of garden centres and a couple of other shops to see what Christmas goods they had at reduced prices, but there wasn’t much that we wanted, though we did get a string of 120 lights for £5 in B&Q. I didn’t intend to stay up to see the New Year in but OH was watching some film or other and I was reading when we suddenly realised we could hear fireworks. It was just gone 12!! I had a really bad night, decamping to the spare room at 2.30 and reading till 5 am. I was still up before 9 and I am yawning a bit but I don’t feel too bad at all.
I hope your chemo isn’t causing you to feel unwell Jane, though it will be worth it if it is doing the job for you as it seems to be. I am still smiling at your good news the other day.
I hope you had a nice family lunch Mandy. It’s good your family aren’t too far away. I wish I could see my Yorkshire lot more often.
I like the sound of your meal today Mel. How do you cook your ham? I chop and change between boiling and roasting. I had some nice ham cut off the bone in the fridge but it needed using up so our lunch today was minted pea and ham soup, which was delicious. It also used up some supermarket own-label frozen peas that I bought a while ago and only used once because they were like little bullets. Btw, I had to google cabochons as I had no idea what they were and were wondering what on earth you had bought.
Poor Biggles, with his sore foot; I hope he recovers quickly. I am glad you mentioned the Kindle, Frank, as it reminded me that mine seems to have given up the ghost and I need to look for a new one. I can read the books already on it but it won’t connect to wifi to download any more. I don’t want to be without it as I use it quite a lot. Make sure you turn up on the right day to see the dental technician. Will we see a photo of you with your new pearlies?
Sorry to hear about OH’s back and your sore knees Ann. I had to laugh at his amazing recovery at match time. Men! What would you do with them?
That sounds like a nightmare in Tesco’s, AnninG. You feel like giving the kids a clip round the ear but it’s the fault of the parents who have never taught their children how to behave in public, probably because they were never taught themselves. We see it every week in Wetherspoons where our group of friends meet for coffee. I am sure one day a child will hurtle into someone holding a hot coffee and get scalded. The pub also has an outside smoking area surrounded by a fence which has a gate leading on to a busy main road and the men often leave the gate open. I’ve lost count of the times one of our group has gone out and brought back in a toddler who has wandered out. When you find its mother she is invariably on her phone and looks at you as though you shouldn’t have touched her child. Is it any wonder that these little ones become disaffected teenagers?
Right, I’ll come down off my high horse and start talking to Gill like a Dutch uncle. (Where did that expression come from?) Gill, I know others have said it but I am going to say it too, you MUST talk to your doctor. You are unwell far too often. I don’t know if I read your post right but you seemed to be indicating that you had sickness but didn’t know what caused it, then you had a migraine. If that’s so the sickness is part of the migraine. Most people who have real migraine as opposed to a bad headache are quite sick or at least very nauseous. I used to be so sick that I couldn’t keep down any pain relief and my cousin was worse than me and had to self-inject his pain relief. Have you had a medical diagnosis? If not, do get properly diagnosed with migraine because help is then available to you on prescription. There are medicines that can be given to help prevent migraines – I have beta blockers and a low dose aspirin which I take every day. There are also tablets called Triptans which can help stop a migraine once it starts. I have Zolmitriptan and a strong (30/500) co-codomol to take when I feel I need them. If you haven’t done it already keep a migraine diary. Write down each day what you have eaten, how you have felt e.g. stressed, happy etc., and anything else that seems relevant and whether you have had any migraine symptoms. If you do this you may be able to pinpoint the triggers for your migraines (there may be more than one) and avoid them. You often write that you haven’t eaten yet that day so one of your triggers could be hunger, as it is for me, so try and eat more frequently. It doesn’t have to be a full meal, just a couple of plain biscuits or an apple would help. It’s also quite usual for certain foods to bring on a migraine. The most common ones are cheese, citrus fruits and chocolate but it could be something else. Also stress is one of the most likely triggers for any migraine sufferer and you do sometimes seem quite stressed. Is it not possible for you to join some sort of group – a craft group, a book club, a local ladies’ group, the WI? Most towns and villages have various organisations that you might enjoy. I think it would do you good to talk to people outside your immediate family circle even if you are only chatting about the weather or prices in the local supermarket. I do understand that you have to consider Sandra’s special needs but you must think about your needs too. People are generally kind and friendly and I am sure that you would be able to take Sandra with you to a group at times when your OH couldn’t look after her. Get your migraines under a bit more control and you may not be so susceptible to pick up other bugs. Perhaps your doctor could organise blood tests as well to see if you are lacking something that would help your immune system.
I know I am nagging and you probably hate me now but I am saying all this because I care about you. I know what chronic migraine can do and how ill you can be with it and I don’t want you to suffer more than necessary. So please, darling Gill, make that doctor’s appointment and get some help.
Well, that’s a chapter and a half. You have probably all got a headache now from reading it all. Time I went and thought about our meal tonight. I might just have a glass of wine while I’m preparing it – have to be white or rose though as red, which I prefer, is one of my triggers.
PS I had a very nice glass of Chardonnay; not usually my favourite wine but this one was pretty good.

Well I enjoyed your long post Vera and what you have told Gill I completely agree with and she should have done something about it long ago when we all told her before.
Gill its time for you to get a docs appointment and get this sorted as soon as you can because there must be something you can take for these Migraines. I know my Aunty Joy has to take something as she used to get terrible ones from a very young age. My triggers were bright lights and once while painting the front of our bunglow brilliant white I got one. Not had one for years now though and I never got a headache or was sick but would lose my site till I could only see a small dot in front of me. Also I used to go numb in some very strange places klike one little finger or the top of an arm and somewhere unmentionable, just half!!!
So your new years resolution is to go to the doc and we are all shouting this at you.

The menopause is a time when my migraines were really bad and I think I read somewhere that fluctuating oestrogen levels were the cause and was the same reason I had them monthly when I was younger. My non food triggers were being out in strong sunshine too long, cigarette smoke and the fluorescent lights at work. I used to get headaches that really pounded when I bent down and made me feel sick and would last a few days. I'm sure the doctor would do some checks Gill and give you something for your migraines. We have recorded the snow animals to watch.
Good idea to get your outside lights down while it is still dry Mandy. I bet Max was needing a rest after the family went too!
I found a box to cut lower to put my picture frames in so that is an improvement under my desk already. I also found my painting of the tin mine under there and may put that on the wall as OH keeps wanting it put up.
Still doing the jigsaw which gets no easier!
OH got a reminder text for his hospital appt next week and they have started doing the same as my hairdresser and wanting a text reply to confirm you will attend. It is really annoying having to pay to do it when the reminder should be enough.

Morning all
Thanks everyone for all your advice, I didn't realise you could be sick before a migraine and most of what you've said seems to be happening to me. I have been under some stress lately so that won't help and I was thinking myself how I've been feeling worse since I started eating chocolate over Christmas so have cut that right back now which seems to be helping. I can't take strong painkillers of any type as I react badly to them, so find Alka Seltzers sometimes work. Paracetamol are more like sweet than a pain killer and don't touch me at all. Bright lights aren't good and sometimes I need to sit in a dark quiet room. Keeping a migraine diary is a good idea Vera, at least then I can work out what it is I'm doing to trigger them. I'm pretty sure at the moment it's chocolate as I don't normally eat it and of course at Christmas there is a lot around. I don't think having the heating on is helping either, so standing outside and cooling down tends to ease the pain, but I can't switch the heating off otherwise OH and Sandra would be very cold and it's not fair on them. I had a very stressful year last year and don't really have anyone I can talk to, as you all know my mum isn't really the type of mum to confide in, I don't have any other family members as they all turned against me when Michelle left, Sandra wouldn't understand and OH.......well, he's not the type you can really talk to about things like this, so I tend to just get on with things and keep my problems to myself. I'm not really sure what the doctor can do with not being able to take strong pain killers, but maybe a chat about my diet as I don't eat until the evening, apart from a sandwich and that's not every day. I've never been a big eater, so I can't see that changing. I did have about three weeks where I hardly ate anything, I just didn't have an appetite and had to force myself to eat in the end. Thankfully that helped me feel hungry again and things soon settled down. I was wondering weather to have my eyes checked as my vision is a bit blurry lately, maybe I need new glasses. On a positive I'm sleeping much better lately and have started going to bed a lot earlier than I normally do, which seems to be helping.
I'm hoping this year is going to be a better one than last year then I'll feel more relaxed and hopefully not have as many headaches.
Thank you everyone for being so kind and caring.

Morning all,
Very grey here too this morn ing and as Anng said its not really cold. Just awful weather which makes you just want to go back to bed until the sun comes out. Roll on summer with some SUNSHINE please?
Nothing planned for today so I may do some HW or I may NOT.
Gill I really think some food during the day would help you and I mean regular food not just one meal at night. Have a small bowl of cerial in the morning and a snadwich at lunch time and then a dinner at night. They don't have to be large meals but you don't et enough with all that you do. I know you all like chocolate and that could be your trigger too. I know my friends was cheese chocolate and cream, think what you have eaten and keep a diary as Vera suggested which could help a lot.

Good morning to you all. I have just lost a large posting, so will try again.
Gill you MUST get the DOCTORS advice about your heath conditions, you seem to be off colour more than most, there must be a reason for it. I HAVE SPOKEN. !!!!
Last nights meal was very nice. We were the only diners. The service was exceptional, staff coming to check on us, through out the meal. The two girls had steaks with all the trimmings, I ended up with Scampi, as they didn't have any COD. No sweet for me, but both the girls had, Sticky Toffee Pudding with Custard.
There was a party of screaming children in the bar area. Which meant us being moved further away from the noise. The Manager did go and have words with the parents, to keep the noise down.
My appointment is for 1.00 pm today with the Dental Chap. I wouldn't expect to get my new teeth today, but will see later.
The weather isn't anything to write home about. Very dull and miserable here also. So this afternoon it will be either reading or the T.V.
How are you feeling today Jane ?? I know people do suffer a bit after Chemo, but I hope it's not making you sick and horrible. My love to you. xxxx
I expect you are all getting back to normal, after a very busy Christmas and New Year. Now we have SPRING to look forward, and the better weather.
Will try to get back this evening, after we have eaten. xxxx

Afternoon All,
Glad you enjoyed your meal Frank. I bet Val was pleased you invited her and you are very kind to have included her. I hope you got on ok at your appointment, one step nearer to a filmstar smile. :-D
Gill Mel is right about these big gaps you have between meals. OH can get migraines if he goes all day without food, but I don't so we are all different. Smaller meals several times a day will keep your blood sugar levels from spiking like they do with one big meal. As she says it doesn't need to be much. An apple, banana or glass of milk is better than nothing. Make sure you have plenty to drink too as dehydration won't help with any headache. Have you tried the pink Migraleve you can get from the chemist? I found they were brilliant. We are all saying these things because we care about you not being well so often and want you to feel better.
I hope Jane is ok again with this second lot of chemo. It sounds like there were others there to chat to at the hospital. Best wishes Jane. <3 <3xx
We had roast chicken quarters with various veg at home today and are going to a garden centre along the A5 next as it is one we don't often go to. It's very dull and quite windy here now. We had more fireworks going off last night so I hope it isn't going to carry on tonight as well. :-S
The Dracula series that started last night was pretty gruesome.

I wondered if I may watch that Ann but did'nt. Was it any good even if it was a bit gruesome?
I still don't know why they don't make new stories. There are some good books out there that could be adapted to a tv series.
So Frank you all enjoyed your meal last night. Thats nice you took Val with you and she ate well. She must get lonely at times and its nice she gets out and about.
I think we all need to get Sandra to make her mum eat breakfast lunch and dinner. Like Ann said just a couple of biscuits with your morning tea is better than just tea. If I don't eat I get a headache. Mum used to have migraleve prescribed from the doc and only ever had to take the pink ones.
