AnninGlos Report 30 Dec 2019 17:10

That is great Jane that the chemo produced such a good result, here's hoping that the next lot will reduce it even more. That could also be why you were able to eat a wee bit more at Christmas. Will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping you are not too bored.
Yes siblings usually fall out in the end no matter how old they are, they know all sorts of ways to wind each other up. With the two Grandsons at Christmas it was, as usual, over the cooking. they both cook and both think they are the 'best' cook. Which is why one gets to cook the Christmas lunch and the other the curry on the 27th.

Vera, isn't it annoying to not be able to eat something you like? I am fine if there is none in the house but find it really hard if there are packets of the stuff lying around. I think it is going to have to be shut in a drawer! :-D :-D

Jane

Jane Report 30 Dec 2019 17:54

Vera I think Hannah had too much chocolate as she had a realy bad head for the last 2 days. She spent most of yesterday in bed. She also ate a lot of Twiglets and that has Marmite which can also cause migraine. We still have lots of chocolate here. I can eat it no problem :-D :-D.
Yes Ann you are right ,the Chemo has made it easier for me to eat. I still can't manage certain things. Meat is difficult as is thick pasta like the sheets of pasta for Lasagne. A Baileys still slips down well though :-D :-D. I have a nice Chocolate Baileys and also and Orange one.In fact I am supping one right now :-D.

Gill I think we shall have to call you all the hop alongs LOL .Hopefully knees and feet will all soon be better.

I can't believe it is New Years Eve tomorrow. A new decade. We wont be doing anything tomorrow night .I shall probably want to drop into bed when I get home from the hospital. James is going to friends.Chris will not be sitting up to see the New Year .We don't normally do anything anyway these days, although I do like to open the back door at midnight to hear all the fireworks . I miss being by the sea and hearing the ships horns at midnight.I used to love that.

Annx Report 30 Dec 2019 18:18

Afternoon Everyone,

Good to see you back and unscathed Frank! :-) I'm with Biggles on fireworks as some are like being in a war zone with bombs going off these days. It's a shame Conrad has been having problems but it's good news he at least won't need a colostomy bag, which must be a bit of a bind. I can't remember going out on New Year's Eve since my 20s! I just never found people being stupid and drinking too much very enjoyable. OH would rather stay in too so we'll be joining you welcoming in the New Year....if we are still awake. :-)

That's good you found the purse clasp for Gill Mel. You are like my friend whose house we bead at on Fridays. You only have to say you need something or are going to get something and she often produces it or says she has it somewhere!! :-D Those naughty deer after your lilies already. It's a pity you can't spray them with something harmless they don't like the taste of.

Jane that was good news and very encouraging that the chemo is working so well. You must be pleased that they can reduce the dose of the drug that caused the rare side effects too. It's nice Hannah will be with you a few hours tomorrow as it sounds like a long day on your own. I must nip in M&S too as I could do with some tops.

Well we were up with the lark this morning and went to Boundary Mill. The roads were very quiet and we arrived just as they opened the doors. We had their 5 item breakfast and I was very good and had the healthy options, OH not so good. Some things were up to 70% off but there was nothing to take our fancy. We couldn't find the massage pads and chairs Vera despite searching and there was no-one to ask as all the assistants were busy with customers or on phones! One of my friends has bought the chair pad a few weeks ago and loves it as she has a bad back and shoulders. She said you can pinpoint the exact bit that hurts and it heats up if you want too. They don't seem to stock pressure cookers any more so I will order one online. It was very busy by the time we left, but a lovely drive back in the sun.

I shouldn't be eating all the chocolate either AnnG. I can't leave it alone if it's in the house though. Mine's all gone now and I daren't touch OH's. I shall weigh me tomorrow when the diet starts again in earnest and I bet I have put on at least 3 pounds! I will still lave the odd bit of chocolate, but I buy the 90% cocoa one that is so bitter you don't want much but still gives me my chocolate fix! :-) I have my annual blood test in March so must get into the habit again of getting up for a short while every half hour.

O what great news Jane and I bet you were all over the moon at the respionse from the first lot of chemo. I am so pleased for you. Sending love and wishes and will be thinking of you tomorrow. Hope you don't get too bored all day in the hosp but I see Hannah will be with you for a while so thats good. <3 <3 <3

I have a nice little piece of boneless leg of lamb in the oven and am looking forward to it with some sprouts and new pots and carrots.

I too thought cauli cheese would'nt go with gravy but it was all dished up on a plate when we ate out once and I did like it so I often do cauli with a bit of cheese sauce on the top with a roast now. Oh likes it anyway.

Shopping day AGAIN tomorrow. Not sure I need much really but it will be nice to get out and see some people other than oh and the postman.

I said in an earlier post that I had two eggs today but when I corned them about 4pm I looked in the nest box and there was another one in there so I think we could now be away so to speak and Em will get her eggs each week too and they can start paying for themselves.

I am so pleased about Jane's results I can't stop smiling. :-D :-D :-D

Evening all,

Nice sun shine here again today after a frost first thing ,still quite chilly out though.

Well Jane you must be so pleased to get a result like that after one lot of your chemo that's brilliant news i'm so pleased for you :-D keep up the good work .
You tuck in to the chocolates and your drinks if they are things that slide down nicely .
I should think meat and pasta would be hard for you as i have a job with pasta some times it tends to stick in the throat if it doesn't have sauce on it .
I don't think we will be seeing the new year in ,we'll probably be tucked up in bed ,we use to go out for a meal years ago but find they tend to rush you through the courses which we could understand as they want to celebrate the new year in too and we also found the price of the meal would be a lot more too.

Nice to see you home again safe and sound Frank , sorry to hear about Conrad though having pains in the stomach ,hope it didn't spoil Christmas to much for him .

AnnG i'm sure you'll soon lose the 2 pounds with all the walking you like to do .

Ann how did you get on at the Mill did OH have a go in the chair massarger ? and did you sort out a pressure cooker ?
I think i would have wondered if i was in the right loo too if i'd have heard a mans voice ,but as you didn't see him you don't know if he was changing and may have had a dress on ,it must be really hard for them to know which loo to use .

We haven't been any where today ,our loo has blocked again and it's in the pipe across in the old peoples complex so we nipped up to see the warden and she said as their toilets weren't blocked there's not a lot she could do and we would have to sort it as it was our manhole blocked ,we told her this isn't the first time we've had the trouble and that each time it was blocked their side !!!!
Bit complicated to explain but our sewer pipe goes into theirs so if theirs block it backs up to our pipe and the loo doesn't flush away .
Colin got the rods out and pushed them through our bit of pipe so we knew it was blocked in their pipe again ..
Well son wasn't having that he went over the fence lifted their manhole and took a picture of the blockage in their manhole and we went back to see the warden ,she took one look and thought it was our manhole and said we had to sort it ,son then pointed out it was their blockage in their manhole with that she rung up and there should have been some one out to look at it ,no one so far so i suppose it will be tomorrow now ,good job we have the upstairs loo ,didn't tel them we had another loo to use .

I see you have all been very busy CHATTING THE DAY AWAY. lol lol

Jane I am so pleased to see that Chemo seems to be doing it's job. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. xxxx

The Rib Eye steaks were as different as chalk to cheese. Ros said hers was a delight, where as mine is now on my SHOES AS A GOOD LEATHER SOLE. !!!! You can't win them all.

I have invited Val Barker (Sid's wife) out for a meal with Ros and I on New Years Day evening. I have booked a table for three. I am sure she will enjoy it, rather than being at home alone, with her thoughts.

Have spoken to my SIL Fran, and nephew Garry this evening. The family is all well, apart from my sister Mary, who is still bed ridden, and living like a CABBAGE. I am at a total loss, to why, both of her SONS don't keep me informed of her condition. I can see me and them falling out very soon. !!!!

I am totally KNACKERED this evening,so I won't be long before I am in the land of nod. I tripped down the steps this morning, going out to put the line up, for Ros to put the bedding out. I stayed on my feet but jared my back and leg, so they are giving me a bit of JIP.

So pleased you are all well after your Christmas, Just go easy on the chocolates. !!!! You all know where the inches are likely to end up. Bless you all, I am off to beddie byes, leaving Ros with her soaps and Christine Keller at 9.00 pm. (She was really someone in the 60s, and almost bought the Government down. Her and Mandy Rice Davies were a right old pair of prositutes.

Sleep well, I hope I will pop back tomorrow.

By the way, while Ros was ironing this afternoon, the BOARD COLLAPSED and fell to the floor. The support has sheared off the leg. So tomorrow will be spent getting a new one. MORE EXPENSE.

What wonderful news Jane, that is quite a reduction, lets hope the next bout of Chemo is just as successful. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you <3 <3 I bet you couldn't believe what you were hearing when the consultant told you. I'm so pleased for you

It's very disappointing when you don't get everything you think you're getting in the box Vera, you were lucky you read it so could buy the bulb that was missing. Yes, I was very lucky Mel could help me so I can make the purse for Sandra, she's looking forward to it now. We did have problems with Sandra's flower/star lights though as we couldn't get the lights to go into the paper, if I had tried to push them inside like the instructions said they would of ripped and then there was the problem of the weight of the batteries in the lights to contend with to, OH and I spent ages trying to find a way around it but it just couldn't be done and she spent so long colouring them in to. I put the lights at the bottom of her pink Christmas tree, I have some tinsel there so the tinsel is all lit up which is happy with, so in a way she got her lights in the end. I've decided to make her a picture and put the pink rose lights Mel gave her years ago around the picture. Sandra has some silver glittery paper I'm going to cover a box in so the pack for the batteries can go inside the box with the picture and rose lights on the front, it's a pinky colour picture I have so will go nice with all the pink she has in her room and will stand on her draws where her Christmas tree is when we take it down over the weekend. At least she has something pretty to look at then. So that's another project for me to do for her tomorrow.

Good job you took a photo of the drain to prove it wasn't blocked on your side Mandy, let's hope it's sorted soon. It sounds as if you have a section 24 on the drain, that's where the two drains go into one. If that's the case then the water board will cover it or your insurance, if ever it blocks on your side and the same for the people on the other side. We had problems with our drains and ended up having the insurance fix it for us by putting some kind of sleeve inside the drains, we haven't had any problems with them since. It's lucky you have another loo to use and if they don't know about it they may have the problem fixed quicker.

Hi to you all,

Mel, I expect as you don't go to bed until late, that's why you need your rest and sleep in late. I wish I could say the same. I was awake at the ungodly hour of 3.30 am. I did dose of later, but not into a deep sleep, and was up soon after 6.00 am.

Ros has gone off in search of an Ironing Board, and a few bits from Tesco.

Have heard from Simon this morning. All's well with him and Sally. They are meeting up with friends tonight for drinks and see in the NEW YEAR.

I hope you are all well, and looking forward to a HEALTHY and prosperous New Year.

I am going to see if I can get a few zzzz before Ros comes home. She want's to watch "THE QUEEN" The film starts soon, so I have recored it, I would hate for her to miss the start.

What if anything, have you got planned for this evening.?? We will no doubt watch the New Year in, and then to bed.

THANKS to everyone for another year of friendship. May it continue into the next year. xxxx

I have a moan for today.

They keep on about us recyling plastic and now our recycling dos'nt take plastic bags or loose plastic of any kind. So does that all go into landfill and back into the enviroment?? :-( :-( :-(

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 31 Dec 2019 13:06

I don't think there is any use for plastic bags or loose plastic Mel, our takes a lot more than most councils but not plastic bags etc. However Tescos do have a recycling container for plastic bags and carrier bags in their shop.

Talking of Tescos, we are just back. what is it that makes some parents think that the aisles of supermarkets are the place for children to run around playing chase etc? In our Tesco today there was a Mum (not particularly young) with two little boys one about four and one about 2. Youngest started off in the trolley seat and Mum was encouraging him to make a loud noise by patting his mouth and encouraging him to shout while she did it, older one was screeching to make young one louder. She was on and off her phone, not in any hurry with the shopping, then she had young one out of the trolley watching as the two then 'played', older one dragging young one around by his hood, swinging him regardless of who was shopping around them. She was still on and off the phone. She must have overheard us criticizing them for being out of control and apparently (I was in a different part of the shop as I tried to keep away from them having nearly been tripped up once) she said to my OH that he had upset the older child because he had heard what we said and "they were just children being children". Luckily she didn't say it to me or I would have had an answer. OH doesn't bite, he apparently just replied he just wanted to get on with his shopping.I would have told her they were causing a danger to the older people around them and there is a time and place for playing which is not in a shop.
There were a lot of children in the shop and the others were all well behaved.

Have had Jane on my mind ll day and its nice to hear from her while having her treatment. Yes we all love you too Jane and I am wishing you a Very Happy New Year and a healthier one for all your family.

I survived a shopping day without any mishaps except when I got to Bideford Bridge they had the whole quay closed for an activity day with stalls and roundabouts and side shows. I only found out by speaking to a lady in the loo. I had forgotten to go before leaving home and thought I would go there first.

To get to Morrisons I had to go over the old bridge and come back over the new bridge and get to Morrisons that way. A blimmin long way round and of course I had to come back the same way so that put a few miles on the clock.

Went all the way around Morrisons and did the shopping and I had spied some plastic storage boxes two for £10 so rang oh to see if he wanted any and he said get 4 so I had to do the shopping and go back for the boxes as they would have taken up most of the small trolly I had.

I ordered some Cabochons off Amazon as the ones I had were too small for what I wanted to do and oh also ordered me some and then I ordered more by mistake so now I have 120 of them. I shall have to find something else to do with them now.

Morning all,

Here here AnnG.

Not a very good start to the new year as it is dull as dishwater here. It dos'nt m ake you want to do anything.

I have a ham to cook today and we will have that with a cauli and brocc cheese so nice and easy and I can get on with some cleaning. I must admit to not doing any for a week as I had the week off. Naughty girl. there masses of washing to do too and I have done some of tht this week about three lots. It just as well we have lots of clothes.

As its been nice for the last two days oh has been up on the flat roof trying to repair the leak.
