Those hens are free range and not kept in cages but have nest boxes to go in and the eggs go onto a conveyer belt which delivers the eggs to a place where they can be put into plastic egg trays and then onto a plallet and are wrapped in cling film pallet and all.

Morning all

A bit brighter today, just saw a pile of birds all flying together making a real racket between them. I told Sandra but she was a bit to slow to look so missed them. We heard them all in the night a few nights ago. I think they are ducks flying south, they normally fly earlier than this but I suppose with it still being quite warm some have left it a bit later this year.

I've just done some washing so that's out of the way and I need to hoover the floor but need to make up Sandra's lights first. All the colouring is finished now, I helped her in the end as she was getting fed up of it, so once I've done them for her I can hoover then the rest of the day is my own. I've got a few things on the planner I'd like to watch including "White Christmas" I've heard it's a good film but I've never seen it, so I'm looking forward to that.

Is Frank home today? I can't remember what he said. If Ros is driving I hope the journey is a safe one.

What is everyone else up to today?

MESSAGE FOR MEL OFF SANDRA

Thank you for being so kind to my mum and giving her the bit she needs to make the purse, she said she is going to make it for me as the material is pink, which I like. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Morning all,

I think its going to be a nice day again today as the suns burning the frost off and the sky is blue.

This weeks gone so quickly I can't believe last week we were saying two sleeps to go.

The three deer are up the garden eating the new shoots on the day lillies.

Gillx

Gillx Report 30 Dec 2019 09:19

Missed your post there Mel, we almost posted at the same time.

What a shame the deer are eating the new shoots on the day lilies, it must get you down a bit when they do things like that as they only flower for a day don't they. The deer could at least wait until you've seen them in flower. Are you still having problems with the rabbits, or is it the wrong time of year for them?

Nice to see you have the sun like us. I was thinking the same as you on how quickly this past week has gone and now it's almost New Year.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Dec 2019 10:09

Yes almost a new year Gill. I shall go and have a look and see if I can find that purse clip and let you know.

Gillx

Gillx Report 30 Dec 2019 10:31

Thanks Mel, don't worry if you can't find it, I just appreciate the thought. I must admit it was a disappointing craft kit, the way they illustrated it on the box was very deceiving. I was all set to make the purse for Sandra when I noticed the pretty pink material so was quite upset I couldn't do it for her in the end. I've explained to Sandra that you might not be able to find it, so don't worry if you can't, I'll see if I can find one to buy in the New year, or make Sandra something else with the pink material. It's quite a big piece so maybe another cushion for her bed as there's not enough to make her a top to wear, which was my other thought.

Good morning all. Nice to be home but a week away at Christmas means a lot of tidying away when we get home. Of course, being Monday, OH has gone off to golf leaving all his Christmas clutter in the lounge, no doubt thinking the Christmas fairy will put it all away for him while he is out. Nope!! think on, it is till there!!

Not a very nice day here, very grey and damp, not that cold though. One load of washing done, just got the load to do that was in the bin before we went away.

Weighed myself this morning The week before we went away when we had three meals out I put on a pound and I put on another one while away so that is two pounds to lose. :-( :-( And there is soo much chocolate in the house, none of it bought by us, all presents!)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Dec 2019 11:11

Iv'e found it!!!! I'll take a picture of it to see if its what you need.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Dec 2019 11:24

I'd eat all the chocolate and then lose weight AnnG.

Gillx

Gillx Report 30 Dec 2019 12:07

That's the one Mel, thank you. Your's looks posher than the one on the booklet that came with the kit. Sandra loves it and said to say thank you.

I'm showing Sandra how to do Spiro Art (like the old Spiro graph I had as a child). We bought her one for Christmas, although she's finding it a bit tricky to master, so is practicing on a blank note pad A4 size we also bought her. Each time she tires she's getting better but she tries to look at the picture while she's doing it and forgets to keep the middle bit touching the outside circle so I've said not to look at the picture and just concentrate on going around with the two bits of plastic first, so she's happily having a go and making pretty patterns. A book came with it with lots of ideas inside she can make once she's learnt how to draw the pretty bits. There's even spaces in the book where she can draw each project and there's also models she can make including a vase of flowers, so plenty for her to enjoy.

While she's practicing I'll make up her flower/star lights for her.

I agree with Mel, AnnG eat the chocolate then lose the weight lol ;-) ;-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 30 Dec 2019 12:49

No I can't do that, I have to limit chocolate because of my sugar count. I had a blood test in November and have to have another one end February by which time my blood sugar should have gone down or I will be pre diabetic type 2.

Frank

Frank Report 30 Dec 2019 12:54

Good afternoon to all of you. I hope, like us, you had a great Christmas. I didn't go out of the house from when we arrived, to when we left, yesterday at 11.00 am. We had a very good journey home, and arrived at 3.00 pm. Having stopped for a coffee at Bristol. The roads were packed with traffic, but thankfully no HOLD UPS, or accidents.

Conrad has had a lot of STOMACH PAINS, due to his BOWEL problem. He was at the hospital for tests and scans, and has to come back to Devon in 8 weeks, for more check ups. He will need an operation n the future, but it won't mean he will have to have a colostomy bag.

Before we left Devon, Conrad booked a table for us at the local Toby in Northampton for 4.00 pm. Which was excellent as usual, and saved us bothering with cooking.

Tonight I will do Steak, with the trimmings, and have a nice quiet evening. Tomorrow night is the village hall do, All being organised by the Mothers Club Committee. We are having "BIGGLES" for the night, as he is terrified of the fireworks that go off at midnight. We will come home before the DISCO starts up, as I just can't stand the loud music, which seems to get louder after we have eaten. So we will watch the New Year come in at home.

I hope you all have a wonderful NEW YEAR, and I send my love and best wishes, in case I don't get back on here tomorrow. Stay safe. xxxx

Gillx Report 30 Dec 2019 13:15

Nice to see you got home safe and sound Frank with no hold ups. Sorry to hear about Conrad, but like you said he won't need a colostomy bag now, which can only be a good thing. I hope the op goes well and he recovers quickly.

How nice to have Biggles again, he'll love it as much as you do. We had a lot of fireworks go off here the other night, they were so loud they made me jump and of course all the dogs in the street started barking. I feel so sorry for the animals, it must be very scary for them.

In case you don't make it back on here we wish you a happy new year too. We'll be watching it on TV so you won't be on your own. I'm sure lots of people bring the New Year in that way as well.

Oh dear AnnG, I didn't realise you can't have to much sugar, good idea not to eat it all then. At least you'll start losing the pounds you need quicker now and have a head start on everyone else lol

Sandra said you can send her the chocolate if you like, she's such a joker some times isn't she? LOL :-D :-D :-D :-D

So good to hear from our Frank after all the Christmas activities and I wish you a Happy New Year Frank.
Its good that Conrad won't have to have a bag fitted. They must be such a bind. My SIL from my first marriage had a baby who had to have one later in her little life and Janet had to put her nappies round her middle when she was tiny.

AnnG they should buy you plain chocolate as its better for you. I only really like plain chocolate. The only thing I will eat in milk choc is the ferrero rochet.

Wrote this hours ago after Frank posted and oh asked me for something and I forgot to click on Submit.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Dec 2019 15:18

O I had two eggs today.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 30 Dec 2019 16:26

Mel my OH had four bars and a small bag of bournville chocolate. We always have two squares each per evening and daughter knows that. We have got a box of mixed Ferrero rocher chocs given to us by one of our gardening interest group. I did have one last night. However when we visited Friars in Keswick, OH bought a bag of milk chocolate pieces so they will have to be eaten.

Welcome home Frank, pleased that you enjoyed Christmas and had a good journey home. Good that Conrad won't need a colostomy bag. Although my Mother had one from the age of about 80 until she died at 85 and had no problems with it.

I don't think I have caught up with answering posts but I will try and do better from now on when there is not so much going on. Although things won't get back to normal until after all the decs are down and packed away.

Afternoon All

I see we are all home safe and sound now :-D. I think we have all had a good Christmas by the sound of things .Poor Sandra being the expeption having a trip to A&E on Xmas Day :-(. But at least she is enjoying all her presents and her knee is not so painful now.

I have been twice to the hospital today.First thing this morning for blood test and then this afternoon for the appointment with the consultant before my next cycle of Chemo tomorrow. He said that the response from the first lot of chemo has been exceptional :-D. I had a large Lymph Node in my neck which measured 4.5cms and it has reduced in size to 1.5cm.It took him a while ot actually find it. He is going to reduce the dose of one of the drugs tomorrow as I had a couple of rare side effects the first time .

It seems to have been all go since we got home from Gloucestershire and it was all go there too.I have been doing a bit of shopping in M&S sale and got a few tops and some trousers. One pair has to go back though as they are too baggy.

Hannah came back with us after Xmas as she wants to come to Chemo with me tomorrow morning.Gareth arrived at midday .I have told her only to stay for a couple of hours or so as I know they are going back to London for New Year.I am quite happy to be there on my own ,and it must be pretty boring for any friends or relatives just sat there .I will have my Kindle ,laptop ,maybe even my colouring to keep me occupied for the day.

Congrats to your Grandson Vera on his engagement . He is young isn't he.But it sounds from what you said they are not rushing into marriage just yet.
I am the same as you with the Cauliflower Cheese and Roasts. It is the thought of the cheese sauce and gravy. They just don't go together as far as I am concerned :-D

I now need to see to dinner for tonight, I made a Normandy Pork the other week and froze it. Now it is defrosted I need to add Cremé Fraiche,Cornflour,Dijon Mustard and some fresh Tarragon.

I think James is looking forward to his big Sister going home LOL They are beginning to wind eachother up :-S

SuffolkVera Report 30 Dec 2019 16:43

Good to see both AnninG and Frank are home safe and sound. I hope Jane had an easy journey home and feels rested after the break. I believe she said that Hannah was going to stay for a few days which will be nice for both of them.

AnnG, you did well to only put on 2lbs over the Christmas period. We all love chocolate. I never buy it as it can bring on a migraine but I do get tempted when we get it as presents and always regret eating it.

Sorry to hear Conrad isn't too well, Frank, and hope the hospital can sort him out. I know what you mean about the discos always being loud. You have to shout if you want to speak to anyone so I always come home with a sore throat and the flashing lights give me a headache. I think I am turning into a grumpy old woman lol.

Did you get to Boundary Mill Ann? If so, what did you think of the chair massager thingies? I've often wondered if they are any good or if they would be more trouble than they are worth. I bet it gave you a shock hearing a man in the ladies toilets.

Gill, I hope you and your family are all feeling a bit better now. I know it isn't really funny but I had a vision of you all hopping round each other, three good legs between you. What a shame about your craft kit but good that Mel could help you out with the piece for a purse. I got OH a lamp that he wanted for the work surface in the garage and when I went to wrap it up I saw in very small print on the box "Requires 6/8 w led small screw globe bulb - not included.". Why don't they include these things? It was useless without the bulb so I had to make an excuse to go out in the car again and find the right bulb. Did you take your penstemon cuttings. I took about 20 a few weeks ago and put them in our plastic mini-greenhouse and I think 19 have rooted, so I am well pleased.

I have 2 big clumps of day lilies in my garden so I am quite glad I don't get the deer like you Mel. With luck they won't nibble all the new shoots and the plants will survive. As Gill said, each flower only blooms for a day but they keep producing the flowers over several weeks so they give a couple of nice colourful clumps in the garden.

Well, time is marching on and I had better have a think about what we are going to eat tonight. We didn't have our usual Sunday roast yesterday so I haven't got any cold meat leftovers.

In case I don't get on here again for a day or two I wish you all a very Happy New Year and I hope 2020 brings you everything you wish for. <3
