I still have mums hearing aids she paid a fortune for. The company said they could be adjusted to me if I ever needed them.

Morning all

Bright and sunny again today, we've had quite a few nice days which has helped us finish all the outside jobs.

Sandra is still looking at her pink lights every night and loves it now both lights are connected. I must admit it does look nice and her choice of pink lights works really well.

Hair colouring day today, I meant to do it weeks ago but was to busy, so now it really needs doing.

I've recorded around 10 Christmas films for Sandra, we watched two yesterday so now Sandra wants to watch more, once she's caught up with her Hollyoaks, She loves that programmes and has informed us it's at a very exciting point. She's going to help me put the hair colouring on my hair, then I can manage the rest myself while she watch's her programme. She's been waiting since last night so wants to watch it first, before another film.

It's nice to have some time without any jobs to do today. My hair takes around 5 hours from start to finish, so I'd better make a start.

Morning Gill and all,

Thanks to AnnG, Jane and Vera for your comments on the sheep. I too thought it was funny and it made oh laugh when he noticed it and said it was funny.

Miserable old morning here once again with wind thats very high and rain too. Oh said to me last night "I thought we were suppose to have global warmer but I don't know where its gone its certainly no there in Devon at the moment".

Must do some HW today and wash my hair like Gill but I don't colour it so it won't take me long.

Oh has just said to me "more rain out there, its certainly not chicken weather". Chickens don't like the wind and rain.

Gillx

Gillx Report 30 Oct 2019 12:46

It's still sunny here Mel and not as cold as it has been. We had ground frost for two days, but today there wasn't any. We did have the heavy rain last week so I know how you feel. My plants enjoyed it but we didn't as we wanted to get on with Sandra's little garden. Typical the weather is dry now the job is finished, isn't that always the case? I hope the rain stops soon, then you and your chickens will be a lot happier.

My hair colouring is done, just need to wait 20 minutes then I can rinse the conditioner off and dry it. I'd left it far to long and had about 2 inches of grey hair showing at the roots, not a good look. So hopefully it'll look much better once it's all done.

Sandra watched her programme before helping me with my hair, so I'm a bit behind, I don't mind as I wasn't in a rush and she's pleased now she's watched her programme.

Once my hair is done we'll probably watch more Christmas films. Sandra is enjoying them and they're not repeats, so that's good. It passes a few hours and it's nice to sit down and relax, which we don't do much of in our place.

Hope all's going well with your HW Mel, we did ours yesterday. It's nice when everywhere is clean and tidy isn't it?

Frank Report 30 Oct 2019 13:24

Good afternoon all,

I am sorry I haven't let you know how things are. As I said we went to the Opticians. I had to wait but saw a nice woman after 15 minutes. She put drops in my eyes, and tested the pressure. My pupils are very small, and makes it difficult to see behind my eye. She wrote a letter and sent me to the EYE Dept. at the hospital. Again a good wait. (IT WAS PACKED) with a FOUR HOUR waiting time notice on the counter. was called in by a nurse, who again put drops in my eyes and checked my vision. Two and a half hours later, I was called in to see the Consultant. Very thorough and yet MORE DROPS, TWO IN EACH EYE. By this time I was completely BLIND in both eyes. She wants me to have LAZER TREATMENT. Which I had a phone call about yesterday. I have to go at 10.45 am on Wednesday two weeks time. When I asked what has caused this problem, she says the one in three people who have had Cataracts removed get this film of debris under the front lens of the eye. I am still completely BLIND in my left eye, which is putting more strain on my right eye. So most of the time I am sitting with my eyes closed. Sorry if I have gone on a bit. ;-) ;-) ;-).

Naturally I haven't read any posts, but hope you are all well. I will try to pop in gin later today or tomorrow. xxxx

AnninGlos Report 30 Oct 2019 14:51

ooh Gill. gill relaxing that is an oxymoron if ever there was one. :-D

frank thanks for updating us as it must be a strain to use your one good eye. I do hope the laser treatment works. Meanwhile don't worry about us if it is too much of a strain, try and rest your eyes as much as possible. Two weeks is a long time to wait though.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Oct 2019 15:12

So pleased we have heard from Frank and it sounds like good news if they think they can do something about it. Sorry you have to wait two weeks though as I know you would have had it done sooner rather than later.

You keep those eyes rested now Frank and NO reading. Perhaps Ros could get you some talking books from the library. If she says you are partialy sighted you don't have to pay.

Well it still raining here and the wind is still blowing hard. Thats the bad news and this is the good news. I looked in the chicken house this mroning after collecting the egg out of the nest box only to find another very small egg on the floor. Its darker than Daisy's egg so I don't know if it one of the new ones or May!!!!

Gillx

Gillx Report 30 Oct 2019 15:42

Good news Frank that something can be done for your eyes. Two weeks is a bit of a wait but it'll soon pass then you'll be able to see more clearly again. Rest your eyes and don't worry about coming on here, we all understand. Mel's idea of talking books sounds a good one, that way you'll still be able to read or rather listen to books without worrying about the added strain on your eyes.

Yes AnnG Oxymoron lol

A different colour egg Mel, I wonder which chicken laid that one. :-S :-S It's nice to know you are getting more now.

All my hair is finished now, so I'm watching a film with Sandra, she's enjoying it but I'm finding it a bit slow. Hopefully the next one will be better. As long as Sandra is happy, that's the main thing. :-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 30 Oct 2019 16:54

Mel it is no good you will have to ask the chickens to sign those that are theirs. :-D

Jane

Jane Report 30 Oct 2019 16:54

Afternoon All

At least you know what is causing your distressing eye trouble Frank and know that it can be sorted. Just a shame you have to wait for 2 weeks.Thank goodness you went to the Opticians.

Ann, I love your your bag with the Owls you made . It looks very professional :-D

It seems to have been hair wash for a few of us today . Mel, Me and Gill. I am so glad mine doesnt take 5 hours Gill :-D :-D. I bet it feels good though now you have managed ot get the colour done again.

AnnG . My Niece lives on the road going into Tewkesbury with the Abbey on the right. The row of terraced houses just past the car park and Caravan Park. The back of her house looks out over the Ham.It looks just like the sea when it is flooded. I think they are all safe now (thank goodness)
How is little Inara now? Hopefully her chest is much better.

I am going to try and have something to eat shortly.A little Macaroni Cheese. It will no doubt only be a few mouthfuls though. I have to fast from midnight. Then it is up at 6.30 and off to the hospital at 7.30. I need to be there for 8.
So I will sign out now and will be back probably on Friday . TTFN :-D Was that a thing from the radio way back?

Annx

Annx Report 30 Oct 2019 18:03

Evening All,

I am glad it was just the cataracts causing your sight problems Frank and that they can laser away the debris for you. OH still gets a whoosh of grey across one eye but his main vision isn't affected so they are leaving his alone. The time will soon go till your appointment so do as the others say and don't strain them. We know you are ok now.

Mel I didn't see your sheep till this afternoon, but it is a comical one isn't it! :-D I wonder if it is May that laid the egg? Are the latest 2 the same age as the previous 2 you bought?

We have so many Pheasants around here just now and many of them are getting slaughtered on the road which is sad to see. I was reading that 35 million were released in 2011, which is nine times more than in 1961!

I have sent a pic of the bag I did in class today. My Batik printing will probably get chucked away as it just didn't go right at all. lol :-)

Gill, I was quite glad when I stopped colouring my hair as it was such a job! I still have streaks put in at the hairdressers though. :-) Every day is hair day here, which is best with our very short hair. Mine gets greasy roots if I leave it longer, which I hate, as I hate the smell of hair that's not freshly washed, and mine kinks if it isn't wetted every day. :-S When I was a teenager with long hair I did it every other day, but only to help stop the ends splitting! I always think of my first MIL when I think of hairwashing. She had what I would describe as a white, curly poodle cut and washed hers in OMO!!

OH met a Professor in Astronomy last night at his meeting. He is Prof Peter Wheatley and works at Warwick University. He also operates Observatories in other countries. What an interesting life some people lead! OH said when they walked outside after the meeting his eyes went straight to the sky! :-D

Good luck with your endoscopy tomorrow Jane. It's good it's early in the morning so less waiting around and I hope they will be able to tell you the results straightaway so there's no more waiting.

It's amazing how tired it leaves you after sitting around in Hospitals so maybe you'll get a good night's sleep tonight Frank, especially now you know what the problem is. I hope so. :-) How great that Lola is settling in well in her new home. She is one lucky little dog to have been taken in by Conrad!

Gillx Report 30 Oct 2019 19:04

Good luck for tomorrow Jane I'll be thinking of you <3 Yes it does take a long time to colour and condition my hair, but it feels and looks much better when it's done. Hopefully it won't need doing again before my birthday.

Finally had some time to catch up with my emails. Love the bag Ann, Sandra said it looks cute.

Love the sheep Mel, you do come up with some good ideas, are you making them for a craft fair? Just noticed the weather and it should be a bit drier for you soon.

Thanks for your email to Vera.

Pleased to see Lola is settled in Devon Frank, it sounds like she's got a good home now. Hope you manage some decent sleep tonight, you must be shattered.

Evening all,

All the best for tomorrow Jane i hope it all goes well and you get the results tomorrow so any treatment can get started and you soon get back to feeling normal again <3

Frank that's good you can get some thing done for you eye ,just a shame you have to wait two weeks though to get it done but that time will soon go and hopefully you'll soon be back reading your books again .
Oh that's lovely Lola is now here and settling well in her new home ,what a lucky little dog .

Mel i love the sheep sitting there with his legs crossed :-D

Ann you bag has turned out really well ,brushing in the branches has just finished it off .

We had quite a morning yesterday ,it was hair cut day and we went out to get a few bits first thing ,coming back we saw the fire engine turn at the roundabout ,then a police car ,we got as far as the library in the high street and just sat there for ages in the traffic ,in the end i got out of the car and walked home ,the hairdresser had been and i just caught her going back to her car ,it turned out that a lorry had caught the hanging sign of the pub in the high street and it was hanging by a thread ,if that had come down on some one walking on the path it could have killed them .
The police were getting everyone to reverse back down the one way high street and go round the other way ,Colin got back about half an hour later .

Today we have finished clearing the green house and it was quite nice in the sun . Family have just called in ,son has our car while his has gone in to have a little job done ready for the MOT and little Lewis thought it was great them taking our car LOL it would only be standing there as we don't use it every day and with the children son is always taking them some where s they need the car .

Jane shall be thinking of you tomorrow hope it is soon over, at least you will have a good sleep and know nothing about it.,
I think I know the cottages your niece is in. Very convenient for the shops and a lovely place to live. As long as I YG doesn’t rain too much!

Frank, oh lovely that Lola has her forever home pleased to hear she got to England ok.

Annx shame about all the pheasants getting killed on the roads they have no road sense at all. I used to work with somebody who used to pick them up if they were not too damaged, talke them home and clean and cook them.
My hair is thick and wiry, I only was mine twice a week.

Mandy that was a lot of hassle but what a good thing that it didn’t land on somebody. Always a pain when roads are shut. We stayed very local today, the M5 was closed between junctions 11a and 12 as a body was found on the motorway at 0430 am. It was near a bridge as far as we could tell so we wonder if the person jumped, they haven’t said the sex. The motorway was shut all day so all surrounding roads, bypasses etc were gridlocked, traffic apparently was bypassing a huge stretch if the M5 by going over Severn bridge and down the A48 which is single carriageway and a notoriously dangerous road. As Gloucester Services are in that stretch there must have been a lot of people stuck in there. Poor person though a days inconvenience is nothing beside a loss of a life.

O Ann the bag is another winner. What a great subject and I just love those owls.

I am making pom pom owls at the mo. Not doing another sheep like that but it will go on the stall up the village hall. I am trying to make things the children will like and am going to fill the little cones with sweets as they are the things the children go for. I was never bothered about sweets when I was little and did'nt like chocolate at all. When dad went down the sweet shop for sweets for himself and mum he would tell me I could have a shillings worth of sweets. I would have black jacks and fruit salad and a sherbert dab and a couple of flying saucers and maybe a gob stopper. They would last me ages and ages. As soon as the children here win some sweets on one of the stalls at the fete they eat thet straight away.

just going to watch Doc Martin now.

Its so nice that Lola has her forever home now in England. She is such a lovely little dog she going to make the perfect pet for those two.

I did'nt get my hair washed today in the end. I don't know where today went and I hav'nt really done anything except wash out drinkers and put a few bits away and cleaned the sink. We had a nice quick lunch of pasties and a nice easy dinner of F & Cs from up the road so I should have got on well but hey ho I did'nt.

Morning all

Cloudy here but dry, I'd got so used to seeing the sun to. Hope the weather has dried up a bit by you Mel.

Thinking of Jane this morning and hoping all went well for her. Sending a gentle hug <3 <3

OH and I love Astronomy Ann, we often look into the night sky. Sandra bought me a book on the stars and planets with a calendar for each month of this year, it's a brilliant book. I'm hoping she can buy me another one for next year, it's one of the best Christmas presents she's ever bought me.

You timed that right for your hairdresser Mandy. How long was your OH stuck in the traffic jam? Hope it's all sorted now, you wouldn't want anything like that falling on you, would you?

Hope you had a good night's sleep Frank and your eye is feeling a bit better today.

I'm washing the bedding today, so that'll keep me busy for a while, then I might take another look at OH's tree, I haven't done much lately with being so busy.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 31 Oct 2019 10:47

Morning Gill and all,

Yes thinking of Jane too and am hoping its all over for her now. I don't know how long these things take. I bet she will have a bit of a sore throat afterwards. She'll have to take some soluble asprin.

Still dull and dreary here today but I don't think its raining and the main thing is the wind has gone. It was really high for two days and all the leaves were blowing off the trees and raining down and across the garden.

We had F & C last night from the Whiddon Wagon up the road but there were different people serving and I thought the chips were a bit cold. The fish was still lovely though so I must'nt complain too much.

What are you all up to today?
