O yes I like the Chateau programs too. Dick is such a handy chap with the things he does and angel does some nice crafts too and decorating. I bet she spends lots of money so they need to make a lot too.
Dublin Murders tonight and I did'nt watch World on Fire last night. I got into a film instead.

Jane if you look in is Janice ok, saw the Tewkesbury floods on TV this evening. Right where we parked and walked in August.
Annx re great grandchildren I can’t believe we have them either but wouldn’t be without them. We were married young, I was 20 and had daughter when I was just 21. The rag wreath sounds interesting. Where would you hang it? Daughter says the doctor has prescribed a different antibiotic now so hope that is Ok.

Evening all
AnninGlos, I have emailed you. Poor little Inara having to take that awful medicine. I hope she is managing OK. We had something similar with our youngest grandchild when she was 6. She got bitten by a cat which affected her badly so she had a couple of days in hospital on a drip. Then she had to take this foul tasting anitbiotic for 3 weeks, 4 tablespoons a day. The doctor explained to her that the medicine was horrible but she needed it to get better. If she could manage to take it herself and keep it down she could go home but if not she would have to stay in hospital and have it via a drip. Poor little mite used to have a pint glass of water ready, take half the tablespoon, drink half the water, then take the other half and gulp down the rest of the water. I hope Inara manages to get hers down and feels better very soon.
I hope Jane and Frank are OK. I've been thinking of them both. If Frank has had drops in his eyes he may not be able to see well enough to type but I hope he is back tomorrow with good news. When is Jane's endoscopy? I've got Wednesday in mind but I am not sure about that. Jane, if you are looking in I have everything crossed for you.
Gill, what a co-incidence that the fireworks were let off just as you switched on Sandra's light. She must have loved it. I bet her "garden" looks lovely now.
I know when I went "missing" OH was probably worried about me but I was a bit cross. He knows full well that I wouldn't go out of our tiny Close without letting him now and he would only have had to knock on two bungalows to find me. But mostly it was a case of pot, kettle and black. He is always going "missing". If we go out as a family, son and daughter have a lot of banter about which one will be on "Dad Watch". When he was just starting to walk a little after his problems in the summer he just went down to the corner and never came back. I was just going out to look for him when I heard his voice. He was sitting in next door's garden. On another occasion we, and my brother, met a cousin in London. OH went to the ticket office at the Tube station to get us all tickets and never came back! After waiting a while and looking all over the station I rang his mobile. Where was he? In the Station Master's office having a chat! Believe you me, I could quote lots of instances when he has disappeared without a word.
When my daughter rang yesterday to tell me granddaughter's news I asked how all the rehearsing and everything else that is involved would affect her uni work as she is in her final year. Daughter said that she asked her that and got the reply "You are such a mother" which made me smile. In fact she won't jeopardise her degree and has her final dissertation and practical stuff all worked out.
OH is just calling that dinner is ready so I had better go. He has cooked tonight so I will be spending half the evening cleaning the kitchen ;-)

Morning AnnG and all,
You know what I shall be doing today.... Shopping......
About the same weather here I think but without the sun. Oh has had the heating on this morning so he must have thought it was chilly as he says he only turns it on for me. Why do I always get the blame?
Hope Jane, Frank and our Anne are ok and we need to hear from Frank and Jane to know they are ok please?
Finished my silly lamb yesterday and put it on the table the telly sits on to see how long it would take oh to notice it. It was quite a while and I had forgotten all about it till he mentioned it. I'll send a pic.

Morning All
Sorry for not being around but I am just not really feeling up to it.I am really struggling with eating (or not eating :-S ). So thursday can't come quick enough for me.I have no energy at all which I suppose is not really surprising and some of my blood results are a bit borderline so I need to make an appointment to see the GP. I am sure the reason . I do hope Frank is ok and that there is nothing too serious going on with his eyes. That is quite a worry.
Vera, how exciting for your Granddaughter :-D :-D. The Edinburgh Fringe !!!! WOW. I will PM you my address later.. I dont think I have yours either so could you please send it on ?
I am just going to have a shower and give myself a kick up the bum and try and get motivated to do something rather than just sit around and feel sorry for myself. The sun is shining ,so I may even just go for a little walk down the lane.
AnnG . Janice is fine where she lives in Tewkesbury. It is my Niece who is the one who gets flooded. She lives right opposite the Abbey. Touch wood they are still ok. I do know the water at the back of her had come up as far as her back gate the other day, which was a huge worry. But fingers crossed there will be no more rain for a while and they will be ok. They have been flooded out twice before .The first time I think it was 18 months before they could move back in .
I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine today.

Morning all
A beautiful bright sunny autumn day here, though it is cold and breezy.
It’s good to hear from you Jane, though I’m sorry to hear that you are so much under the weather. Only two more sleeps now and then hopefully the docs will find out what’s wrong and start to put it right for you. Sending you a cyber (((((((hug))))))).
(((((((Hugs))))))) for you as well Anne and Frank. Take care of yourselves and get back on the thread as soon as you can. We miss you.
OH went out this morning. I did a couple of jobs and then went to have a shower. Just stepped out of the shower and the phone rang. Normally I would leave it but I am still a bit wary when OH is out on his own so I grabbed a towel and padded into the bedroom dripping wet. It was himself. The conversation went something like this:
Him: Did you just ring me? Me: No. why do you think that? Him: Well, someone rang me and I couldn’t get to answer before they rang off Me: Did they leave a message? Him: No message Me: Then it wasn’t important was it. Have you checked Missed Calls? Him: Didn’t think of that. I just assumed it was you Me: I got out of the shower to answer this ridiculous call. I am wet and shivering now. You had better throw your hat in the house first because I am not a happy bunny.
He came in very sheepishly and made me a cup of tea :-D
I spoke too soon about the weather. The sun has disappeared and it looks as though it’s about to pour at any minute. I’d better go and tackle the ironing.

:-D :-D Lol Vera! What would you do with them....... mmmml love em! Hope the ironing has warmed you up. We were going to go into town but for some reason decided we didn't feel like it. Just as well as, although still dry it was only 6 degrees and very cold, the first time I have actually put on my thicker coat.
so, instead we called at Tesco for the paper and a couple of bottle of tonic (can't run out of that!, then took a huge box of clothes and a bag of boots and shoes to the charity shop. Bet the boots don't make it into the shop as the are ankle boots with a small chunky heel and only worn once, not comfortable for me. And then picked up OH's glasses and persuaded him to try them out driving which he did. He is only borderline but I think long distances when his eyes get tired, he should wear them. apparently one eye is fine the other is not but together they are ok to drive. Then we went to the community centre for coffee and a shared piece of banana cake which was really nice. Back home now so have to decide what I am doing with the rest of the day.
Jane, sorry you have lost your get up and go, hopefully when the endoscopy is out of the way and you hopefully have answers then the worrying will also go and you will feel able to eat again. Then you can go clothes shopping because you must have lost weight. Will you have long to wait for the results of the endoscopy do you know? I am pleased that as far as you know your niece is ok. I think they said the floods should be receding today. Looking at photos, I think the flood water stayed mostly on the flood plain the other side of the river across (is it?) the Ham and only crept a little bit up the road. Is your niece in one of the cottages up steps?
Mel hopefully you are back in the warm with shopping done. Yes it is a bit worrying about not hearing from Frank, although if it is his eye problem stopping him it is understandable.

Afternoon All,
After a sunny morning it is as dull as can be now. We had our usual carvery lunch at the old manor and our favourite waitress had an extra two biscuits each for us with our drink! :-D I was too hot with a jacket on yesterday so I just had a thin cardie on today, but forgot to look at the temperature so it was probably a few degrees warmer here.
I hope we hear from Frank soon and I wish he had gone straight to eye casualty if it is his eyes. Hopefully he is ok though and we will hear from him later.
I have to go to the opticians in an hour or so for an eye test. I'm not due for a couple of months but my sight is getting more blurry and I think the cataracts are getting worse and making beading quite difficult at night!
Vera, I hate having to get out of the shower for the phone so I can sympathise with the cold drippingness!! What are they like! lol. OH used to be awful ringing me when I was out clothes shopping. Bless him, it was usually just for a chat when he stopped to have a cuppa, but it was always at an inconvenient moment when I was at the till trying to pay, or in the middle of some hot soup or in the Ladies!
Jane it isn't much longer to wait now before you find out what the problem is. I suppose if you can't eat much your weight will go down, but as AnnG says it will be an excuse for some new clothes!.
Ann, that banana cake sounds nice and moist! I bet your ankle boots will get snapped up by one of the staff if they fit!
I'd better go and change to go to the opticians now. OH has a meeting so can't come with me and drop me off at the door. I just hope I can park fairly close as my left knee is making me limp today. I think I must have slept on it awkwardly as it was fine when I went to bed! :-S The opticians is right at the back of Boots as well.
I enjoyed the Chateau DIY prog and it was making me wish I had a garden full of greenery like Mel gets. The decorations using it look so nice. :-)

Annx hope the opticians appointment goes OK. My OH has the beginnings of cataracts apparently, I think that came as a bit of a shock to him as he was so used to everything being fine at appointments now it is eyes and teeth to watch. At least, so far his hearing is ok. unlike mine. No way would he be phoning me when I am out, or he'd regret it after five minutes of trying to get me to hear what he was saying!

All changed and ready to go and my mobile rang. It was Boots to cancel my eye test, so I was glad I hadn't already joined the traffic queue on the main road. That's the second medical appointment that's been cancelled this week, the first was with the knee surgeon. I might still go to the M&S at the same retail park once the traffic eases though as they have car parking round the back that is never full and is close to the doors.

I keep getting the error page so hope this post goes through. I've not been able to read anyone's posts so hope everyone is okay.
We've been really busy this morning, OH finished the painting outside as it was sunny and I finished the painting inside. I then put the spare bedroom back to normal and tidied up the back bedroom. Then I moved onto the washing, which I'm still plodding through, while Sandra hoovered all the floors for me. OH clean the moss off the roof and then we all watched a Christmas film together.
OH has nipped out to the shops for me, while I finish the washing and he's picking up a book Sandra wants, then I'll sort out dinner and settle down for the evening.
I think we'll all be having an early night tonight after such a busy day.

It was a shock to me to find I had cataracts at my last eye test AnnG. I've always worn sunglasses and burn easily so don't go out for long in strong sun. I knew that headlights coming towards me at night on unlit roads were becoming a problem. I was hoping to get this eye test done quickly so that if the cataracts do need doing I might get them both done before possible surgery on my knees, but my plans are getting overturned with these cancellations. I didn't think my last glasses made much improvement to be honest, so maybe that is really the problem? Years ago they told me my long sight was so good it was unlikely to need any adjustment in the future, but it did do a few years ago! As for hearing, mine was getting near borderline at my last test and so was OH's. Some of the newsreaders and presenters don't speak at all clearly which doesn't help. I must check when my next hearing test is due as OH's will be due as well. I now have to go a week on Friday for my eye test.

Annx if your hearing has deteriorated please don’t let vanity prevent you having NHS hearing aids, they are digital, free and batteries are free and they are wonderful. I have had aids since my late fifties, should probably have had them before but I was in denial for a while.

Gosh they are really mucking you about Ann. Lets hope this new appointment is kept and you can get a result or them done before your knee op.
I have done the shopping for another week and was very careful on the way there as its 13 miles and I had the red petrol light on. When I got there I filled up and then went into the shop and rang oh to tell him I had arrived safely. The gauge had gone past the first red line and was approaching the second as I drove into the petrol station.
Oh is sneezing in the study!! I hope he has'nt got a cold.
The new girls are still being chased about by the old ones and the other two new ones. Had my usual egg from Daisy today and one from the old girls and when I corned them tonight there was a broken one in the nest, bah. If that chicken would lay an egg with a decent shell I would have a lot of eggs in a week. Still no sign of May laying.

I think we all tend to put these things off as long as possible AnnG. I will bear in mind the NHS ones as they do all different kinds now and some are very neat and small. I was thinking I would have to grow my hair over my ears again like a Spaniel! I know the the price of the ones FIL had before he passed away made us gasp as they were about £1500 if I remember right. OH gave them to the home after in case they were of use to anyone else.
Oh Mel, I hate getting low on fuel like that in case I run out. Being me, I expect to be the one with a faulty fuel gauge and that there is less in the tank than it says!! I bet you were relieved when you pulled into the garage. I hope your OH isn't getting a cold. When I ask OH if he is getting a cold when he sneezes, he says it's just dust. (he's probably right there! ;-)) So the previous 2 new girls have ganged up with the old ones to chase the latest newcomers! lol.
Gill just lately all your days have been busy ones! You got a lot done though and everywhere must look nice and neat and tidy. I expect Sandra will be gazing at her pink lights again tonight. :-D :-D

Ann I have lost count of the number of times I have revealed that I wear aids and the person has shown real surprise, my hair is not long, just over the top of my ears, the piece that loops over the ear is of a colour that really does hardly show. And actually I often tell people so that they speak clearly to my face and don’t cover their mouth with their hand. The first NHS aids I had 20 odd years ago were nowhere near as good and had a habit of whistling which was embarrassing when in a meeting consisting of very high ranking officers. On one occasion my boss, sitting next to me, said ‘apologies’ the Training Officer has just gone live’. Thankfully these modern third generation ones don’t do that.
